1957 Mystery Film, With One of the Greatest Plot Twists in History, Ranked Among ‘Best Movies of All Time’
Long before the hype surrounding mystery thrillers, the 1957 film Witness for the Prosecution captivated audiences with its unique and masterful blend of suspense and courtroom drama.
Decades after its release, the movie has earned a lasting spot among the all-time greats.
In a list unveiled by Rotten Tomatoes, a renowned review-aggregation website for film and television, the Billy Wilder-directed film was named among the Best Movies of All Time.
The rankings were based on the number of critic reviews for a film, as well as the Popcorn Meter score, or the percentage of audience members who rated a movie or TV show positively.
Joining the top 300 list was Witness for the Prosecution, securing its place among the greatest of all time.
The movie, based on a short story by British author Agatha Christie, centers around the trial of Leonard Vole, played by Tyrone Power. He is accused of murdering the eccentric, wealthy widow Emily French, portrayed by Norma Varden.
The only alibi he has is his wife Christine Vole, portrayed by Marlene Dietrich.

With the film holding a score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.4 rating on IMDb, the mystery thriller is also known for having “the greatest plot twists in history.”
What is the Plot Twist in Witness for the Prosecution?Agatha Christie fully lived up to her reputation as the undisputed Queen of Mystery, with Witness for the Prosecution keeping audiences on the edge of their seats through its unexpected twists and turns.
The story delivers what critics describe as a rapid-fire series of "staggering" revelations, starting with Christine’s calculated sacrifice.
After Leonard is found not guilty, it is revealed that his wife acted against him in court and deliberately gave misleading testimony to help her husband be acquitted.
The second unexpected twist reveals Leonard as the actual murderer rather than a victim.
This marks a successful deception on his part because Leonard had manipulated his wife’s love all along to escape justice.
The final turning point comes with Leonard’s confession that he is abandoning his wife for a younger woman.
At this point, Christine realizes she has been used and discarded, and in revenge, she kills Leonard by stabbing him in the courtroom.
The movie received six major nominations at the 30th Academy Awards and five nods at the 1958 Golden Globe Awards, taking home the Best Supporting Actress award for Elsa Lanchester.

1981 Pop Song, Which Was Featured Heavily on ‘Seinfeld,’ Was Named a No. 1 Hit 45 Years Ago
Sheena Easton’s “9 to 5” is more commonly known as “Morning Train” because the song title was changed in the US and Canada to avoid confusion with the Dolly Parton hit of the same name. “Morning Train” came from Easton’s 1981 album, Take My Time. However, it was released as a single in 1980 and went on to become the biggest hit of her career. The song was certified gold and reached No. 1 on the US pop and adult contemporary charts. It also reached the top of the Billboard pop charts and remained there for two weeks, starting its run 45 years ago today.
The music video for the song was filmed on the Bluebell Railway, which ran between East and West Sussex in England. When asked about what the success of the song felt like by Classic Pop Mag, she said, “I honestly don’t recall what it felt like. There was so much going on, with so much promotion to do, that I didn’t have time to really take it all in.”
"Morning Train" has appeared in many different films and television shows throughout the years. The most notable was when it appeared on the hit NBCsitcom, Seinfeld, two separate times. In season 7, during an episode titled “The Bizarro Jerry,” the song played while a montage of Kramer’s work experience was shown. It appeared again the following season in an episode called “The Butter Shave,” playing while George commuted to his job.
The song also appeared in the 2004 comedy, EuroTrip. It played when two characters entered a fictional British pub in London, and were forced to sing along to it. It was also sung by Eric Cartman in South Park during season 5.

Easton rose to fame when she was featured on the reality TV show, The Big Time: Pop Singer in 1980. This was a British series that documented her journey from being an unknown singer to signing a record deal with EMI. Throughout her career, she won several Grammy Awards and collaborated with big names like Prince, Kenny Rogers, and Babyface.
Easton has not released a new album since 2000. When speaking about how tough the industry is, she has said, “You’re expected to come out of the box with a hit and keep going – and there’s so much self-promotion you have to do.” Now 67, she still performs occasional shows.
Classic ’60s Sitcom Called ‘One of the Most Hilarious’ Is Finally Back on TV
A “rare” 1960s sitcom that fans still call one of the best ever is coming back to television.
Starting on Tuesday, May 5, Car 54, Where Are You? will join FETV’s weekday lineup, airing back-to-back episodes Monday through Friday from 8:10 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. ET, according to the network’s newsletter.
The series, which originally aired on NBC from 1961 to 1963, followed mismatched New York City police officers Gunther Toody and Francis Muldoon as they patrolled the fictional 53rd precinct in the Bronx. Played by Joe E. Ross and Fred Gwynne, the duo became known for their offbeat chemistry—Toody loud and impulsive, Muldoon tall, quiet and methodical—as they stumbled their way through cases with a mix of luck and persistence.
Despite running for just two seasons, the show built a loyal following that has endured for decades. When FETV shared the news on Facebook, fans quickly flooded the comments with praise.
“One of my all-time favorite sitcoms. Vastly underrated when the subject of great shows comes up,” one viewer wrote.
Another called it “the best sitcom ever,” while others celebrated its return as a rare opportunity to watch a series that hasn’t been widely available on television in recent years.
That scarcity is part of what makes the revival notable. Car 54, Where Are You? has cycled through syndication over the decades, but it’s no longer part of the current lineup on METV or Catchy Comedy, making FETV the only place on broadcast or cable TV to find it right now. As an NBC property, it is also available on the Peacock streaming service.
Created by Emmy-winning writer and director Nat Hiken, the show stood out for its sharp writing and its depiction of a diverse New York City neighborhood at a time when television rarely reflected that reality. It also helped launch the careers of several familiar faces, including Gwynne, who would later become widely known as Herman Munster.
Critics have long argued that Car 54, Where Are You? was ahead of its time. Critic Bill Gibrondescribed it as a key step in the evolution of the modern sitcom, noting that creator Nat Hiken blended theatrical comedy with a more cinematic, single-camera style that allowed for faster pacing and more inventive storytelling. He also pointed to the show’s unusually diverse depiction of New York City, which reflected the real social fabric of the time in a way most early-1960s series did not. NPR critic Lloyd Schwartz similarly praised its mix of humor and realism, calling certain episodes “one of the most hilarious things” he had ever seen on television.
Even decades later, the show’s reputation has held strong among both critics and fans. A 2011 Wall Street Journal feature tied to the DVD release noted that Nobel Prize-winning author William Faulkner wasm among the show's devoted viewers—an unusual endorsement for a half-hour network comedy.
Now, more than 60 years after its debut, Car 54, Where Are You? is getting another run, giving longtime fans a chance to revisit it and new viewers a chance to discover why it’s still remembered as something special.

Princess Charlotte Turns 11, and Fans Applaud Her ‘Beautiful, Natural’ Birthday Portrait
The royals are packing April and May with celebrations galore! And now it looks like it’s time for one more. Prince Williamand Kate Middletonrecently revealed their daughter, Princess Charlotte’s, birthday portrait in honor of the 11-year-old’s big day.
It’s hard to believe Charlotte is already 11. For many royal watchers, it seems like the Prince and Princess of Wales just announced her birth. Named in honor of her grandfather (King Charles), her great-grandmother (Queen Elizabeth II), and her grandmother (Diana), Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born on May 2, 2015, in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital. But, in royal fashion, the family did not formally announce the joyous occasion until May 4.
View this post on InstagramIn this year’s birthday portrait, the young Princess looks more like a teen than a little girl. Standing in a field of flowers, Charlotte wears a casual striped sweater and jeans. Fans took to the Instagram announcement, gushing over the picture and posting comments like “Such a beautiful, natural portrait—her smile is so warm, and the setting feels so peaceful. Wishing her the happiest birthday!” and “Happy Birthday, Princess Charlotte. May your day be full of joy and laughter.” Other commenters sent their well-wishes, writing, “Happy 11th Birthday, Princess Charlotte! Hope you have a gorgeous day!” and, “What a beautiful little princess. I wish you joy, health, and happiness. Happy Birthday to you.”
Prince Louis Had a BirthdayOf course, Charlotte isn’t the only royal family member who has something to celebrate. Her younger brother, Prince Louis, turned eight on April 23. Like the Princess, Louis also got a moment in the spotlight. The royals posted his portrait on their official Instagram account, captioning it, “Happy birthday Louis! 8 today!” They also included a cute clip of the little Prince running on a sandy beach, splashing in the ocean, and playing cricket.

Fans on Instagram have called them "everything and more," pointing to the combination of convenience and flavor that's made frozen breakfast sandwiches a staple for busy mornings.
A Fast-Growing Brand Is Behind the BuzzMason Dixie Foods isn't a newcomer to the frozen aisle.
The company has built its reputation on ready-to-heat comfort foods like biscuits, breakfast burritos, waffles and sandwiches, all made with recognizable, straightforward ingredients.
Founder Ayeshah Abuelhiga launched the brand with a simple idea: Comfort food should be made the way it is at home, without unnecessary additives. Her perspective was shaped by growing up in a family-run restaurant, where quality and consistency were central to every dish.
That approach has helped the brand grow quickly. Today, Mason Dixie products are sold at major retailers, including Whole Foods, Sprouts and Costco.

Breakfast sandwiches in particular have become a go-to for people trying to get out the door quickly without skipping a meal. When they're done well, they strike a balance between texture, flavor, and ease.
Why Shoppers Are Paying Attention View this post on InstagramBetween the brand's focus on simple ingredients and the appeal of a ready-to-heat breakfast that doesn't feel overly processed, these sandwiches are checking a lot of boxes for shoppers.
Costco has a track record of turning everyday products into cult favorites, especially in the frozen section. When something new shows up and starts getting strong early reactions, it tends to move fast.
And if fan reactions are any indication, this might be another freezer item that doesn't stay in stock for long.

The 12 Best Face Masks for Acne That Unclog and Transform Skin, Tested by Dermatologists
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
Acne doesn't discriminate by age, and if you've spent any time staring down a breakout in the mirror as an adult wondering what on earth to do about it, you're in very good company.
Whether you're dealing with the hormonal kind that flares up on a schedule, the stress-induced kind that shows up before every major life event or the garden-variety clogged pores that come with living in a world full of pollution and sunscreen, the skincare aisle is a buffet of choices. There are a lot of acne treatments promising to transform your skin, and most of them make you do a lot of work to see mediocre results.
Face masks, though, occupy a genuinely useful corner of that world—when you choose the right one and use it correctly. Unlike your daily cleanser or serum, the best face masks for acne typically consist of a concentrated, targeted treatment that sits on skin long enough to actually do something.
Clay masks can pull excess oil out of pores. Sulfur masks calm inflammation and fight bacteria. Salicylic acid masks get down into the follicle and dissolve the gunk that causes blackheads and whiteheads before they have a chance to become a full-blown situation. The catch is that more active ingredients don't always mean better results—overuse and the wrong formula for your skin type can actually make breakouts worse by stripping your barrier and sending oil production into overdrive.
To help you find the one that will work best for your skin, we talked to six experts including board-certified dermatologistsDr. Chang Son, Dr. Kseniya Kobets, Director of Cosmetic Dermatology at Montefiore Einstein Advanced Care, Dr. Nazanin Saedi of Plymouth Meeting Dermatology and Dr. Nicole Lee, along with licensed esthetician Cecily Braden and dermatologist Dr. Jade Conway.
They tell Parade how these masks actually work, which ingredients to prioritize based on your specific acne type and which 12 formulas they'd personally reach for—including the one Dr. Saedi calls "incredible," saying it completely transforms your skin.

Acne masks shift the conditions in your skin's microenvironment in ways that your everyday cleanser can't. Dr. Saedi explains that acne is driven by a combination of excess sebum, clogged pores and acne-causing bacteria, and that masks can address all three simultaneously—gently exfoliating, absorbing oil, clearing out pores and calming inflammation in a single step.
Because many masks are occlusive or semi-occlusive, they actually enhance how well active ingredients penetrate the follicle—which is where acne starts in the first place. "Clay- and charcoal-based masks absorb excess sebum and debris, helping to physically decongest pores," Dr. Lee explains. "Chemical actives like salicylic acid penetrate into the pore lining to dissolve keratin plugs, while sulfur helps reduce bacteria and excess oil."
Dr. Son is candid about what masks can and can't do. He views them as useful "adjuvant therapy"—meaning they work best alongside a consistent skincare routine rather than as a standalone fix. That's not a knock against masks; it's just an honest framing. Used as part of a broader approach, they can meaningfully move the needle.

Skincare Ingredients Dermatologists Recommend for Acne-Prone SkinThe right ingredient depends on what kind of acne you're dealing with, and the experts are pretty specific about this. Dr. Kobets shares that salicylic acid is oil-soluble and penetrates pores to break up comedones; sulfur reduces oil and has antimicrobial properties without being overly aggressive; clay (kaolin or bentonite) absorbs excess sebum; benzoyl peroxide targets the bacteria that drives inflammatory acne; and niacinamide regulates oil while supporting the skin barrier.
That last point matters more than people realize. Dr. Saedi and Dr. Lee both emphasize niacinamide specifically because acne-prone skin is incredibly easy to over-strip. "You can easily dry out acne prone skin," Dr. Kobets says, which is why ingredients that balance decongestion with barrier support tend to outperform the most aggressive formulas over time.
For inflamed or hormonal breakouts, Dr. Son points to sulfur and anti-inflammatory agents like tea tree oil and clay as the most helpful allies. And for anyone tempted by the strongest possible actives, Dr. Conway puts it plainly: the most transformative masks aren't necessarily the strongest ones. They're the ones that clear pores while also reducing inflammation and preserving the skin barrier.
Related: Adult Acne Is a Common Problem—Here’s What To Do if You’re Struggling With a Breakout
How Often Should You Use a Face Mask for Acne? The two common mistakes that come up from every expert: using masks too often and leaving them on too long. Both lead to over-drying, which can actually trigger more oil production. More is not more here.
They land somewhere between once and three times a week depending on the formula and your skin's current state. Dr. Kobets recommends starting with one to three times weekly, watching closely for signs of irritation.
Please note: If you're already using prescription topicals, Dr. Lee recommends skipping additional OTC actives entirely at first to avoid unnecessary irritation. When she does add a mask, it's no more than once every few weeks until she's confident the skin can handle it. "Acne-prone skin is often already in a state of barrier disruption," she explains, "so overuse can paradoxically worsen breakouts."

12 Best Face Masks for Acne and Clogged Pores, Tested by DermatologistsBest Overall Face Mask for Acne: Neutrogena Evenly Clear Acne Cleansing Mask, $12Amazon
Shop It on AmazonDr. Saedi doesn't just recommend this one—she uses it herself. The genius of this mask is its dual function: it works as both a daily cleanser and a mask, which makes consistency so much easier. Unlike most acne masks that focus on absorbing oil or exfoliating, this one uses benzoyl peroxide to go directly after acne-causing bacteria.
Leave it on for a few minutes as a mask and you get a stronger antibacterial effect than you would from rinsing it off immediately. Her caveat: benzoyl peroxide is drying, so she recommends using it as a mask just once or twice a week and as a cleanser on the other days (if your skin can handle it). At this price, it's remarkable.
Best Clay Mask: Sonage Tulsi Soothing Tri Clay Mask, $52Amazon
Shop It on AmazonDr. Saedi loves this one for its ability to address multiple acne drivers without nuking your skin barrier in the process. It absorbs excess oil, clears out pores, calms inflammation and supports barrier health all in one step (which is a rarer combination than you'd think!).
Most clay masks are great at decongesting but aggressive enough to leave skin feeling tight and reactive afterward. This one fights acne and rebalances the skin at the same time, which makes it a much smarter long-term option.

Best Charcoal Mask: AlumierMD Refining Clay Mask, $65Alumier
Shop It at AlumierDr. Lee tends to favor charcoal- and clay-based formulas specifically because of how effectively they decongest without relying entirely on chemical actives. This one earns her endorsement for its ability to draw out impurities and rebalance oil production while keeping the skin's inflammatory baseline in check.
When you reduce that baseline, she explains, "breakouts become less frequent, less severe and heal more efficiently." That's where you start to see meaningful change rather than just temporary improvement.
Best for Hormonal Acne: Topicals Clearly Clarifying & Calming Mask, $36Sephora
Shop It at SephoraHormonal acne is its own animal. Dr. Lee explains that while it can still benefit from pore-clearing ingredients, the skin is often more reactive than non-hormonal acne, which means aggressive masks can cause more harm than good.
This formula threads that needle by combining gentle clearing actives with anti-inflammatory and barrier-supportive ingredients, making it one of the few masks Dr. Lee specifically recommends for this category. The key, she says, is treating not just the acne but the condition of the skin it's occurring in.
Best Calming Mask for Inflamed Breakouts: Epicutis Recovery Mask, $85ecosmetics
Shop It at ecosmeticsWhen breakouts are red, angry and inflamed, the last thing you want is a mask that strips the skin further. Dr. Lee recommends this one specifically for those moments because it prioritizes recovery and barrier repair while still addressing the acne itself. The most transformative masks, she argues, are the ones that balance decongestion with barrier support.
"Patients do best with formulations that clear pores while also reducing inflammation and preserving the skin barrier," she explains—and this one was built with exactly that balance in mind.
Related: ‘I’m a Dermatologist and This Is the Morning Routine I Swear By To Keep My Skin Barrier Strong’
Best Salicylic Acid Mask: The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque, $15 Shop It on AmazonBoth Dr. Saedi and Dr. Lee recommend salicylic acid as a cornerstone ingredient for acne-prone skin, and the reason this particular mask works so well comes down to timing. Salicylic acid is most effective when it has time to sit on skin and do its thing, and a dedicated mask format gives it that window.
Dr. Saedi loves that it's designed to stay on for ten minutes before a gentle rinse; enough time to penetrate the pore lining and dissolve the buildup that leads to blackheads and whiteheads. At this price, it's one of the most efficient acne investments you can make.
Best Sulfur Mask: Peter Thomas Roth Even Clearer Therapeutic Sulfur Mask, $58Amazon
Shop It on AmazonDr. Conway calls this one out for its formula specifically, and it's worth understanding why sulfur is such a compelling acne ingredient. It clears up blemishes and helps prevent their return, cleanses and purifies clogged pores and does it without being as aggressive as benzoyl peroxide.
The 10% sulfur concentration here is paired with kaolin clay, bentonite clay and aloe, which means you're getting serious clearing action with built-in soothing. Dr. Son also recommends sulfur-based treatments for inflammatory acne specifically, making this a particularly smart pick for anyone dealing with red, painful breakouts rather than just clogged pores.
Best Overnight Mask: SkinCeuticals Glycolic 10 Renew Overnight, $97SkinCeuticals
Shop It at SkinCeuticalsOvernight masks for acne are a category that requires nuance. Dr. Saedi cautions against most of them during active breakouts because they can trap oil and clog pores. But for the right skin situation—post-breakout recovery, dull and congested skin or texture concerns alongside occasional acne—a well-formulated overnight treatment is worth it.
Dr. Lee recommends this glycolic acid option for its ability to gently resurface and refine skin while you sleep, addressing the lingering effects of acne (dark spots, uneven texture) without triggering new breakouts in the process.
Best Hydrating Mask for Acne-Prone Skin: Babor Renewal Overnight Mask, $69Amazon
Shop It on AmazonHere's the thing about acne-prone skin that doesn't get said enough: it needs hydration just as much as oily or dry skin does. Dr. Saedi recommends this one specifically for moments when skin is stressed, red and inflamed; not during active breakouts, but when the recovery phase or when irritation is the main concern.
"It's a good mask to mix in to help repair the skin barrier, reduce irritation and rebalance the skin," she says. Think of it as a reset button for skin that's been through the wringer.
CosRx
Shop it at COSRXDr. Lee's budget pick, and it earns its place without apology. CosRx has built a devoted following for delivering results-oriented formulas at prices that don't require a dermatologist's salary, and this one follows that tradition.
It addresses blemishes directly with a formula designed to decongest and calm without over-stripping. For anyone who wants to build a consistent masking habit without committing to a high price point first, this is exactly where to start.
Best for Sensitive Acne-Prone Skin: Rejuran PDRN Mask, $33Amazon
Shop It on AmazonDr. Son has been seeing positive feedback with PDRN masks from Rejuran in his practice. PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) has been shown to be both anti-inflammatory and hydrating at the same time—a rare combination for acne treatment.
"I personally like PDRN for acne control," he says, specifically because it addresses the inflammation driving breakouts without compromising skin moisture. For anyone with sensitive skin who has struggled to find an acne mask that doesn't leave their face angry and reactive, this is the category worth exploring.
Best for Body Acne: Murad Rapid Relief Acne Sulfur Mask, $44Amazon
Shop It on AmazonBody acne is common, annoying and often under-treated because most acne products are designed with the face in mind. Sulfur, which Dr. Lee recommends for its antimicrobial and oil-reducing properties, is one of the most effective ingredients for body breakouts because it works quickly and doesn't require the same precise application that facial treatments do.
This Murad formula delivers a concentrated sulfur treatment that can be applied to the chest, back or shoulders, making it one of the more practical options for anyone dealing with acne below the neck.

The 8 Best Airport Lounges for 2026 According to The Points Guy
Navigating the travel credit card landscape in 2026 can feel like a full-time job. Whether you’re trying to decide between a "keeper" card for everyday groceries or a premium heavy-hitter for your next international flight, the strategy often comes down to more than just the sign-up bonus.
Where you spend the most, which airlines fly from your home hub and whether you fly monthly or just a few times a year all impact the "stack" you choose. As Nick Ewen, Senior Editorial Director at The Points Guy, explains, “In general, the ‘best’ credit card is very dependent on what you want to do with your rewards, along with your general spending habits. In my opinion, the ‘best’ options are typically ones that earn flexible rewards—ones that can be used for cash-back, direct travel and can be transferred to partner loyalty programs.”
But more often than not, if you're really trying to win the game, the strategy comes down to what perks it can earn you—and chief among them is airport lounge status. Depending on where you fly, you may find a certain airline's lounge heavily featured—like American in DC, where the Concourse D Admirals Club is undergoing a massive 2026 overhaul, or in Boston, where the new JetBlue 'BlueHouse' is expected to open later this year.
You may be tied to a specific credit card that allows its own lounges for access (e.g., Centurion Lounges, Capital One Lounges or Chase Sapphire Lounges), or with its 1,600 locations around the world, you may find Priority Pass offers you the greatest flexibility—though in 2026, navigating those guest policies is its own skillset. But, still, we wanted to know: what are the best of the best out there? We asked Summer Hull, Senior Director of Content at The Points Guy, for her recommendations and best strategies for getting in.
Best lounge for feeling like you’re already on vacation: The Capital One Lounge in JFKThis 13,500-square-foot flagship in Terminal 4 has completely changed the pre-flight ritual for New Yorkers. "The Capital One Lounge in JFK is iconic not only for its 24/7 operations and flagship-sized 13,500 square feet, but also for its cheesemonger, where you can enjoy a 45-minute cheese tasting via NYC’s own Murray’s Cheese," says Hull. For those looking to fully lean into the "out of office" spirit, the experience doesn't end with artisanal dairy. "And don’t worry about getting thirsty, they can do some wine pairings, too," Hull notes.

Best lounge for an actually good meal: Capital One Landing in DCAAt Reagan National, the typical airport buffet has been replaced by a genuine sit-down culinary experience that rivals the city's best bistros. "Many lounges are upping their culinary game as of late, but it is hard to beat the Capital One Landing in DCA, which has a tapas and beverage menu brought to you by the Jose Andres Group with menu items such as carne asada con mojo verde and gazpacho," Hull observes. The result is a total shift in the traveler's perception of "terminal food." Hull notes, "Here, you might even forget you are in an airport ‘lounge’ you got into with your credit card and think you are in a nice restaurant."

Best lounge for keeping the kids happy: The Chase Sapphire Lounge at PHLTraveling with children can be an endurance test, but this Philadelphia location is designed to be a sanctuary for the whole family rather than just a quiet business center. "The Chase Sapphire Lounge at PHL is an all-around winner, but it is an especially great match for families since it has something for everyone, ranging from a beer garden for adults to a retro arcade for the bigger kids and even a playroom for the smaller travelers," says Hull. By creating distinct zones, the lounge ensures that every traveler has a space to decompress before boarding.
Best lounge for plane spotting: Delta Sky Club at LAXFor those who find peace in the movement of the tarmac, the new Delta Sky Club at LAX offers a front-row seat to one of the world's busiest runways. "In terms of interesting aircraft and a great outdoor view, complete with an entire bar and retractable roof, the best lounge for plane spotting is the Delta Sky Club at LAX with its outdoor Sky Deck," says Hull. The outdoor terrace allows visitors to enjoy the Southern California sun and a cocktail while watching massive wide-body jets move just feet away.

Best lounge for a long layover: Delta One Lounge at JFKWhen a layover stretches into several hours, the difference between a standard club and a true flagship lounge becomes apparent. "If you are on a premium ticket that gets you into the Delta One Lounge at JFK, you might wish your layover was even longer as there’s plenty to do in those 40,000 square feet," Hull notes. The facility is designed to be a self-contained wellness and productivity hub. Hull explains, "This includes a gorgeous brasserie-inspired restaurant, shower suites, a spa area with included treatments, shoe-shining, an outdoor deck and even external monitors you can check out if you need to get work done and much, much more."
Best lounge for when you are in a hurry: Tie: United Airlines “Club Fly” and Capital One LoungesWhen a tight connection leaves you with mere minutes to spare, the best lounge is the one that prioritizes speed over the sit-down experience. Hull highlights United’s “Club Fly” and Capital One’s network as the "tops for their grab-and-go offerings that you can toss in a to-go bag and enjoy on your next flight when you don’t have time to linger." These locations ensure you don't have to choose between a hot meal and making your boarding group.

Best lounge for a quick sit-down meal: Amex Sidecar in Las VegasA new concept for 2026, the Amex Sidecar is a "speakeasy-style" companion to the main Centurion lounge, built specifically for the traveler on a clock. "This new lounge concept is designed for travelers within 90 minutes of departure and offers excellent menu items, with a goal of serving them within about 8 minutes of ordering," Hull explains. It offers a refined, restaurant-style experience without the risk of missing your gate.
Best lounge for a toast to a great trip: Chase Sapphire Lounge at LASEnding a trip to the Strip deserves one final bit of Vegas-style glamour, and the top floor of the newest Sapphire lounge delivers. "The new Chase Sapphire Lounge at LAS has a gold-clad Champagne parlor on its top floor (it is Vegas, after all) that is the perfect spot to order a glass of bubbly or enjoy a seasonal spritz from the bar cart service and give a toast to a great trip," says Hull. It provides a celebratory atmosphere that serves as the perfect bookend to a desert getaway.

Expert Tips for Getting (and Staying) InAs airport lounges reach record capacity, the strategy for getting past the velvet rope has evolved. To maximize your card stack this year, keep these tips from Nick Ewen in mind:
- Watch the Guest Policy: "Chase Sapphire lounges are currently the only issuer lounges that ‘will include two free guests moving forward’," notes Ewen. In contrast, both Amex and Capital One (as of Feb. 1, 2026) have moved toward charging fees for guests.
- Prioritize Real-World Value: Don't just get a card for the "buzz." Ewen suggests looking at how a card fits your actual bills: "Identify the actual, real-world value you’d get on a card to decide which is ‘best’ for you," he says, noting that if a card covers streaming services you already pay for, it significantly offsets the annual fee.
- Match Your Card to Your Hub: "You may rarely fly Delta or don’t visit an airport with an Amex lounge frequently," Ewen points out. In those cases, a card like the Chase Sapphire Reserve or Capital One Venture X could be a better fit than the more famous Amex Platinum.

Butter Birkin Craze: 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' Ignites Demand for Limited-Edition Piece
While The Devil Wears Prada 2 is generating major buzz following its theatrical release, another unexpected detail is quietly stealing the spotlight, sending fashion lovers and moviegoers into a frenzy over one standout accessory.
A day before the much-awaited screening, a specialty popcorn bucket was released in celebration of the film.
What set the item apart was that, instead of a typical concession container, it was designed to resemble what looked like a red Birkin-style handbag.
Without a doubt, the announcement has gotten fans extremely thrilled, causing the first batch of the limited-edition piece, available for pre-order, to sell out almost immediately.

Following the massive hype, this sparked very high demand, prompting fans to rush online or physically go to theaters to secure the viral bag.
On Reddit, users are sharing tips and tricks to get their hands on the limited-edition collectible.
“My theatre sold out quickly last week and the soft launch they did online at 10am today sold out fast too. Most the time... You should check with your theatre a week before the movie comes out... As Regal has been putting them on sale around then,” one wrote.
“I’ve seen dozens at my theaters here in Orlando lol. Don’t think they are really flying off the shelf,” a fan shared.
“I went to the theater when it opened to get mine, even though I’m seeing the movie later; they were sold out within five minutes,” another added.
View this post on InstagramOn the other hand, fans also took to social media to express their disappointment, particularly over how quickly the item, now fondly dubbed the “Butter Birkin,” was sold out.
“Highly disappointed that the popcorn bag was sold out,” one wrote.
“If only the theaters got more in stock and more of the main bucket,” a commenter agreed.
“I went to the movie yesterday and was disappointed that the theater didn't have any merchandise to buy like they've been advertising,” a follower said.
Others also called for the specialty popcorn bucket bag to be made available beyond its limited release, hoping it wouldn’t remain a short-term item.
“Please extend the TDWP2 popcorn bucket’s availability,” a fan requested.
“Don’t let the Butter Birkin disappear!” a follower said.
“Some things shouldn’t be limited edition… this bucket is one of them,” a user commented.
Two decades after the original film’s release, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci reprised their iconic roles for The Devil Wears Prada 2.
In addition to the returning cast, the sequel also introduced new characters played by Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Caleb Hearon and more.

'90s Actress With Breakout Role in Hit Sitcom Turns 74
Christine Baranski, the Emmy-winning actress who broke out in the 1990ssitcomCybill before going on to scene-stealing roles in The Big Bang Theory, Mamma Mia! and The Good Wife universe, turns 74 on Saturday, marking another milestone for the veteran performer whose career has spanned stage, television and film.
Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Baranski began her career as a drama student at Juilliard School, then made her off-Broadway debut in Coming Attractions at Playwrights Horizons in 1980, and has appeared in several Broadway and off-Broadway productions at the Manhattan Theatre Club throughout the 1980s and 1990s. She has won two Tony Awards for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her role as Charlotte in Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing in 1984, and as Chris Gorman in Neil Simon's 1989 production Rumors.

Her breakout role came from the CBS sitcom Cybill, where she played the sarcastic, wealthy and hard-drinking friend Maryann Thorpe for four seasons. Her character gave Baranski an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, along with three other nominations throughout the seasons.
Created by Chuck Lorre, Cybill followed single mother, Cybill Sheridan (Cybill Shepherd), a twice-divorced and struggling actress in her 40s who has never gotten her big break in show business. Also featured are her daughters: Zoey (Alicia Witt) and Rachel (Dedee Pfeiffer), and her two ex-husbands: Ira (Alan Rosenberg) and Jeff (Tom Wopat).
Throughout its run from 1995 to 1998, the comedy was nominated for 12 Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy in 1996.
The cast of Cybill, a CBS television sitcom about a struggling actress whose career has passed its peak. The actress told The Guardian in January 2022 that she was offered the role of Maryanne in the early 1990s. Though moving to Los Angeles was not ideal for her (at the time, she and her husband, fellow actor Matthew Cowles, were living in Connecticut with their two young daughters), the publication wrote that "the money won."
"It was a very anguished decision," Baranski recalled. "My girls were five and eight, I think, and Matthew stayed home with them. But when I read the script by Chuck Lorre, this guy I’d never heard of, and saw how he’d written the character Maryanne, with the dry wit and martinis, I thought: ‘Oh, I know how to play this.’”
Despite the success of the show, there were tensions between Shepherd and Baranski, which came from jealousy due to Baranski winning an Emmy Award for the first season, but Shepherd did not, despite playing the title character. In her memoir, Cybill Disobedience, Shepherd wrote that the two best friends on the show didn't get along in real life because "Baranski was unfriendly."
"I have never publicly gone into that,” the Mamma Mia! actress responded. “Yes, there were issues, but I prefer to take the higher ground and say, look, that show gave me so much. I was fine working with her. Politically, it did get difficult, but I wish her well."
After Cybill ended, Baranski continued to take up many roles across television and film, including Frasier, Welcome to New York and Happy Family. The actress ended up working with Lorre again when she began playing a recurring character, the mother of Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki), Dr. Beverly Hofstadter, in The Big Bang Theory for 10 years.
Cybill Shepherd (as Cybill Sheridan) and Christine Baranski (as Maryann Thorpe) as their characters for Cybill. From 2009 to 2016, Baranski played the role of Diane Lockhart, a top litigator and senior partner of a Chicago law firm on the CBS series The Good Wife, where she was also nominated for an Emmy Award. She also reprised the role in the show's spinoff titled The Good Fight, from 2017 to 2022.
In film, the 74-year-old actress has taken on various roles across different genres, but she is most known for her characters in The Birdcage, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Chicago, Mamma Mia! and its sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again!, Into the Woods, Addams Family Values, Reversal of Fortune and more.
"[Cybill] really transformed my career, and suddenly I was offered wonderful movie roles," Baranski told BBC News last month. "So to my astonishment, the latter part of my career has been film and mostly television."

Currently, Baranski is playing Agnes van Rhijn in the HBO period drama The Gilded Age alongside Carrie Coon, Louisa Jacobson and Cynthia Nixon. In addition, it was announced last month that the Emmy-winning actress will be making her West End debut this fall in a new production of Noël Coward's comedy Hay Fever, starring as Judith Bliss alongside Richard E. Grant.
Baranski said that her upcoming play was "a dream come true" and that it feels "extraordinary" to be coming to the West End. She has been trying to return to her theater roots for years, but her demanding film schedules have not carved out "enough time to do a play."
Directed by Emily Burns, Hay Fever will have a limited run at London’s Wyndham's Theatre from September 22 to December 12.
"It's been on my bucket list for years," she said. "It's going to be just wonderful, I can't tell you how excited I am. Believe me, I'm already studying the role, learning my lines and working to polish an English accent."

1986 Supergroup Record Featuring 40 Rock Stars Was Ranked 'No. 1 Metal Moment' of All Time
In 1986, a group of heavy metal legends took matters into their own hands with “Stars.” The one-off charity single, by a supergroup of 40 metal musicians dubbed Hear ‘n Aid, was released to raise money for famine relief in Africa on the heels of Band Aid’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” and USA For Africa’s “We Are The World.”
“Stars” peaked at No. 26 in the UK and hit No. 39 on Billboard’s U.S. Bubbling Under 100 chart, according to Ultimate Classic Rock. It also received heavy airplay on MTV’s Headbangers Ball and on VH1.
The single, which raised more than a million dollars for charity, was ranked the No. 1 most metal moment in the VH1 special The 100 Most Metal Moments. The song beat out Ronnie James Dio’s famous devil horns symbol, Motley Crue’s tell-all bio The Dirt, and the This is Spinal Tap parody film.
The rock website Bravewords noted: “The biggest names in metal, from Judas Priest to Motley Crue, come together in a charity recording and video for starving people in Africa. It’s rumored that pop charity types don’t approve, but the song and video for ‘We’re Stars’ stands as a stirring tribute to all things metal.”
Dozens of hard rockers contributed to the project“Stars” brought together the top musicians of the 1980s heavy metal scene. It featured epic guitar solos and the biggest voices of the era.
The brainchild of Dio members Ronnie James Dio, Jimmy Bain, and Vivian Campbell, the recording also featured band members from Judas Priest, Blue Öyster Cult, Dokken, Quiet Riot, Y&T, Rough Cutt, Queensrÿche, King Kobra, Night Ranger, Giuffria, W.A.S.P., Yngwie Malmsteen, Mötley Crüe, Twisted Sister, Vanilla Fudge, Journey, Iron Maiden, and more.
Lead vocals were performed by Dio, Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Geoff Tate (Queensrÿche), Kevin DuBrow (Quiet Riot), Don Dokken (Dokken), Eric Bloom (Blue Öyster Cult), Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt), and Dave Meniketti (Y&T).
The song was recorded at A&M Studios in Los Angeles on May 20 & 21, 1985, per a message on Dio’s official website. But according to UCR, legal clearances for the dozens of artists involved in the project resulted in a delay of the record's release. It took until January 1986 for the Hear 'n Aid album to come out once all of the permissions were granted.
According to Classic Rock magazine, Dio once said that while there were “a lot of Fred Bloggses who wanted to get involved…. the project needed heavyweights to sell it.”
Dios’ wife Wendy added, “I think Rob Halford of Judas Priest was the first to say yes… Then Queensrÿche, Twisted Sister… came aboard pretty quick. And they were all on their best behavior – even Ted Nugent. The great, the good, and the rest give it their best shot to fight famine in Africa.”
While egos were checked at the door, Campbell noted there was some competition in a non-musical area. “You put a bunch of eighties guitarists in the same room and, of course, there’s going to be competition for bragging rights. They were even arguing about who had the biggest hair,” the rocker recalled.
'I Though My Persistent Cough Was Just a Cold...It Turned Out to be a Nearly Deadly Cancer'
A sad reality is that most mothers put their own health on the back burner. A recent Gallup Poll revealed that 75% of mothers with children 18 years old and younger in their home struggle to prioritize their own health. That's a staggering statistic that could potentially impact women's overall mortality rates.
Just take what happened to Heather Quintana Suchan, a mom who wholeheartedly believed that her lingering cough was just a typical seasonal sickness.
"I was doing what every mom does at that time of year— trying to navigate the holidays with my two young sons and a hectic job. I kept thinking, 'I’m around kids all the time, everybody gets sick, this will pass,'" Suchan recalls to Parade. "Even when it became pneumonia, that still felt explainable to me since it was December/January and the height of cold and flu season."
Related: ‘I Thought I Had a UTI—Instead, It Was Stage 4 Cancer’
She kept pushing through the illness, but after seeing three different doctors and undergoing multiple tests, she grew tired of guessing what her symptoms meant. No matter what the doctors ordered, she wasn’t responding the way she should have. After many doctor visits and several rounds of antibiotics, she still wasn’t improving. A CT scan revealed she had nodules in her lungs.
"I decided to get a bronchoscopy, which allowed the doctors to sample and test one of the nodules. That was the turning point, and unfortunately, I was diagnosed with stage IV EGFR-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)."

A Rare Cancer and a Hard BattleAnother reason she couldn't have fathomed anything worse than a cold was that Suchan was not a smoker by any stretch of the imagination.
"It is not uncommon for lung cancer in younger patients or never-smokers to be mistaken at first for something more routine because the symptoms can overlap with very common illnesses," says Dr. Ravi Salgia, professor and chair of the Department of Medical Oncology & Therapeutics Research at City of Hope. "A cough, fatigue, or congestion does not automatically point to lung cancer. But when symptoms persist or do not improve as expected, they deserve further evaluation."
"Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, claiming more lives each year than breast, colon, and prostate cancers combined," Salgia states. "The most common form, non-small cell lung cancer (or non-smoking lung cancer), accounts for 80–85% of all cases, and small cell lung cancer makes up the other 15%."
While the reality of the illness was terrifying, the scariest part of the entire ordeal was telling her two young sons about her frightening diagnosis.
Related: Doctors Insisted Woman 'Just' Had Anxiety. Now She Lives With a Feeding Tube
"Telling them was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do," she admits. "It just feels so unfair to ask children that young to try to make sense of something so frightening. We had a big cry together in the kitchen that day."
A colleague connected the terrified mom to a care team, and she began making space for treatment. Her typical chemo infusion would take hours to complete and often left her feeling raw and exhausted. But when her care team found her an alternative treatment, everything changed.
Salgia says that through quick diagnosis and extensive testing, they learned she was a candidate for a new five-minute treatment, RYBREVANT FASPRO. The revolutionary drug has a lower rate of administration-related side effects compared with IV delivery, he explains.
"That matters because those reactions can be difficult for patients and burdensome in the clinic," the doctor added.
For Suchan, it was a complete game-changer.

"My five-minute treatment with RYBREVANT FASPRO feels completely different. Yes, practically, it gives me real time back," she says. "But emotionally, it changes the experience, too. It feels less disruptive. It feels more manageable. It lets treatment take up a little less space in my life, which is incredibly meaningful when you’re trying to be a working mom and keep living your life. For me, getting that time back is not a small thing. Those are real hours with my kids, with my family, and with the parts of my life that make me feel like myself."
The Gift of TimeCourtesy of Heather Quintana Suchan
Luckily, Suchan saw a 60–70% tumor shrinkage early on in the context of her Stage IV EGFR-positive NSCLC. Now, it is a matter of being in "maintenance mode," meaning keeping consistent with treatments to keep the cancer from growing back. Suchan admits that she waffles between hope and overwhelm.
"It’s a safety net in the sense that I’m grateful to be on something that is working for me and helping keep the cancer under control. That gives me a lot of comfort," she says. "At the same time, of course, it’s also a reminder. When you’re in ongoing treatment and getting regular scans, you never fully forget why you’re there. But I’ve made peace with that. I don’t look at maintenance as a bad thing. I look at it as part of how I get to keep living my life."
While she isn't out of the woods yet, her self-advocacy, without a doubt, has helped her go further than she would have had she just continued to write off her symptoms.
"I think women, especially moms, are so used to pushing through," says Suchan. "We minimize symptoms, explain them away, and tell ourselves we’ll deal with it later because everyone else needs us first. My biggest message is: don’t do that when something keeps lingering."

Matcha is having a moment, or maybe it’s never really left. But lately, it feels like it’s everywhere in a new way. Between colorful syrups, layered lattes and cloud-like cold foams, matcha has officially entered its fun era, and I am fully on board. As someone who has always been a tea-over-coffee person, matcha drinks are in constant rotation in my routine, but even I couldn’t ignore the viral strawberry matchalattetaking over my feed, so naturally, I had to dig in.
I started by making my own homemade strawberry-vanilla bean syrup, bright, jammy and just sweet enough to complement matcha without overpowering it. Then I paired it with Jade Leaf Matcha, which is my go-to thanks to its smooth, vibrant flavor and high-quality, ceremonial-grade powders. I added in some creamy almond milk and a glass full of ice, and suddenly I had a drink that felt like something you’d order at a trendy café, but better, because it’s made exactly how I like it.
The result? A stunning, layered latte that tastes just as good as it looks and might just be my new favorite way to sip into spring.

A strawberry matcha latte is a layered iced drink that combines sweet strawberry syrup, milk and whisked matcha. It’s known for its eye-catching look usually featuring a bright pink base, creamy middle layer and vibrant green matcha on top.
Beyond the aesthetic, it’s a balanced drink that blends fruity sweetness with the earthy depth of matcha, creating something that feels both refreshing and indulgent.

Do Matcha and Strawberry Taste Good Together?Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma
In short: absolutely. It’s a matcha made in heaven.
Matcha has a naturally grassy, slightly savory flavor with a hint of umami, and when you use a high-quality powder like Organic Ceremonial Jade Leaf Matcha- Barista Edition, it’s also smooth and subtly sweet, and not bitter at all.
That flavor pairs beautifully with strawberries, which bring brightness, acidity and a natural sweetness to the mix. Together, they create a drink that’s layered, refreshing and surprisingly balanced.

For this strawberry matcha latte, you’ll need just a few simple ingredients: high-quality matcha (I used Jade Leaf Matcha for its smooth, vibrant flavor), your milk of choice (I went with almond milk for a light, nutty base), and a homemade strawberry vanilla syrup to bring sweetness and that fresh, fruity brightness to the drink.
Helpful Kitchen ToolsCourtesy Jeanette Donnarumma
Having the right tools makes all the difference when preparing matcha. I find using the complete ceremony set from Jade Leaf Matcha, which includes a bowl, strainer, scoop and bamboo whisk, makes the process feel a little more special and helps create that perfectly smooth, frothy finish.
If you don’t have matcha tools, you can still make a great matcha with a handheld frother or small whisk. For the syrup, all you need is a small pot and a blender. And it never hurts to have an adorable glass for serving.

I am absolutely head over heels for this drink (read: I'm obsessed). It’s the perfect balance of sweet and savory, with that signature matcha flavor coming through. The strawberry vanilla syrup adds a bright, sweetness to your day, while the matcha keeps it grounded and refreshing.
Using Jade Leaf Matcha really makes a difference here, the flavor is smooth, vibrant and never overly bitter, which is key in a drink like this where everything is so clean and simple.
It’s the kind of drink that makes you feel like spring has officially arrived—and one I’ll be making on repeat.

Tips, Tricks and SubstitutionsThere are plenty of ways to customize this strawberry matcha latte to your taste. You can easily swap the milk; almond, oat or dairy all work beautifully depending on how creamy you like it.
If you want to switch things up, try using a different fruit syrup like raspberry or blackberry for a deeper, slightly tart flavor.
Don’t have a traditional bamboo whisk? An electric frother works just as well to blend your matcha smoothly.
And of course, you can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less strawberry syrup to suit your preference.

Genius 'Loophole' Could Help Boomers Retire Without Sacrificing an Extra $1,125 Monthly
You may be looking at your Social Security benefits estimate and wondering if it’ll be enough to carry you through your entire retirement. If you were born after 1960, you can claim early benefits at age 62 and full benefits at 67. If you delay until 70, however, you could be setting yourself up for a lot more.
When Should You Apply For BenefitsTaking early benefits at the age of 62 and continuing to work could penalize you with higher taxes and reduced benefits depending on how much you earn (hint: the annual income cap is $24,480 before penalization starts!) It also reduces your monthly take-home as much as 30%, which can be a huge difference.
You won’t get hit with those same issues if you wait until full retirement age, but taking an extra 3 years to file for Social Security could actually improve your overall monthly benefits. Americans who claim SS benefits at 70 rather than 62 or 67 have larger checks.

How Much Will You Get?Waiting until age 70 to collect your benefits results in about an 8% increase. For the average monthly payment, it comes to around $1,125. While each situation is unique and this number isn’t hard and fast, it is a good estimation of the additional income available to you.
Is This For Everyone? Now this option isn’t ideal for everyone. It hinges on your ability to continue working past retirement age, your health, any disability, and other factors. If you’re in relatively good health and have relatives living well into their 90s, this may be a perfect fit.
Working later in life isn’t an uncommon practice anymore. Boomers and older Gen Xers remain very active in the workplace, providing valuable insights and decades of experience. Companies still value the experience and education that those workers can provide and need them to help train a younger generation to take the reins in the coming decades. Why not use that to your advantage?
Patience is KeyWaiting to take your Social Security benefits until after the age of 70 gives you a boost in monthly take as well as an inflation-proof income that can last well into your golden years. As they say, 70 is the new 50, and people are living longer around the world. Why not set yourself up for a larger payout over the long run by trading in a few more years while you’re still young?
Where Are the Next Winter Olympics in 2030? Everything To Know
Vive la France! The Winter Olympics are heading back to L'Hexagone for the fourth time in history, and this time they're doing things a little differently. Instead of designating a single host city, the next Winter Olympics will sprawl across the entire French Alps region—from the Mediterranean coast in Nice all the way north to the Haute-Savoie Alps near the Swiss border—spanning over 600 kilometers of mountain terrain. Set to take place from Feb. 1–17, 2030, these Games are betting big on sustainability, existing infrastructure and environmental responsibility at a time when climate change threatens the very future of winter sports.
France previously hosted the Winter Olympics in Chamonix (1924), Grenoble (1968) and Albertville (1992), so they know a thing or two about putting on a show in the snow. The French Alps 2030 organizing committee is led by 1992 Olympic moguls champion Edgar Grospiron, who's made it clear these won't be your typical Winter Games. They're planning to use mostly existing or temporary venues, invest heavily in public transportation over parking lots, and host long-track speed skating across the border in Italy—likely at Turin's Oval Lingotto, built for the 2006 Games—to avoid constructing new facilities. It's an ambitious experiment in sustainable Olympic hosting that could reshape how future Winter Games are organized.
With the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics now in the history books, attention has officially shifted to what France has in store. From the competition venues scattered across four distinct regional clusters to the potential addition of brand-new sports like ice climbing and ski mountaineering, here's everything to know about the French Alps 2030 Winter Olympics.

The French Alps 2030 Winter Olympics will be held from Feb. 1–17—a 17-day spectacle of winter sports across France's Alpine regions, from the Mediterranean coast to the Swiss border. Unlike most modern Olympics that center around a single host city, these Games will utilize a multi-cluster approach spanning four main areas: Haute-Savoie, Savoie, Briançon and Nice. There is no single 2030 Winter Olympics host city—the entire French Alps region is the host.
This geographic spread reflects both practical realities and philosophical choices. France doesn't have a single city with all the necessary winter sports infrastructure, but the Alps region collectively offers some of the world's best existing venues. Rather than building from scratch, organizers are leveraging facilities from past Olympics and World Championships, many of which have been hosting competitions for decades.
The decision to spread events across such a vast area isn't without challenges—athletes, officials and fans will need to travel significant distances between competition sites. But it also means the Games can utilize purpose-built facilities in their ideal natural settings rather than compromising with artificial or suboptimal venues.

What Cities Will Host Events During French Alps 2030?The 2030 Winter Olympics location is technically all of the French Alps, but the competition venues are organized into four regional clusters, each specializing in different sports based on their existing infrastructure and geographical advantages.
In Haute-Savoie, cross-country skiing events will take place in La Clusaz, while biathlon competitions head to Le Grand-Bornand. Both locations have extensive experience hosting World Cup events and boast the alpine terrain necessary for Nordic sports.
The Savoie region will handle alpine skiing, ski jumping and all sliding sports—bobsled, luge and skeleton. This cluster includes famous ski resorts like Courchevel, Méribel and Val Thorens, which together form part of the world's largest interconnected ski area covering 600 kilometers of runs.

Briançon, located in the Hautes-Alpes department, will host snowboarding and freestyle skiing competitions. The high-altitude location and varied terrain make it ideal for these action sports.
Nice presents the most unusual venue choice for a Winter Olympics. The Mediterranean coastal city will host most ice sports—including short-track speed skating, figure skating, ice hockey and curling. The closing ceremony is planned for the famous Promenade des Anglais, Nice's iconic seafront boulevard—a setting that will mark a dramatic Olympic first, echoing the unconventional 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony along the Seine River. The opening ceremony venue has yet to be announced, though Grospiron has hinted it could take place in Lyon.
Five Olympic villages are planned to house athletes: one each in Nice, Briançon and Haute-Savoie, plus two in Savoie. This distributed approach means athletes can stay relatively close to their competition venues rather than commuting hours each day.
Where Will Speed Skating Take Place at the 2030 Winter Olympics? In an interesting twist, the planned 2030 Winter Olympics speed skating venue is actually across the border in Italy. In a cost-saving and sustainability-focused decision, long-track speed skating will likely take place at the Oval Lingotto in Turin—the same arena built for the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics. The venue remains in excellent condition, making it far more economical to use than constructing a new speed skating oval in France. Plus, it allows organizers to stick to their pledge of using existing infrastructure wherever possible.

Seven sports have been confirmed for French Alps 2030: biathlon, bobsleigh, curling, ice hockey, luge, skating and skiing. These seven sports have appeared at every Winter Olympics since Nagano 1998, forming the core of the winter sports program.
However, the specific disciplines within each sport—and the total number of medal events—won't be determined until June 2026. This timeline allows the International Olympic Committee and organizing committee to assess athlete participation, venue capabilities and global interest in various Winter Olympics events before locking in the final program. As of early 2026, no sports have been confirmed for removal from the 2030 program.
As for new sports at the 2030 Winter Olympics, several are being considered for addition. Ski mountaineering, which made its Olympic debut at Milan Cortina 2026 (and saw France win gold in the mixed relay), is expected to return to the program. The International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation has received calls from French athletes to pursue ice climbing, a discipline that has gained popularity through World Cup competitions. Champagny-en-Vanoise, near Courchevel, has hosted the Ice Climbing World Cup numerous times and recently renovated its venue to accommodate larger-scale competitions.
In a February 2025 interview, Grospiron cited several other potential additions: cyclo-cross, cross-country, speed skiing, telemark skiing and ice cross. The International Ice Hockey Federation has also announced plans to bid for the inclusion of 3x3 ice hockey, a format successfully used at Winter Youth Olympics since 2020.

Where Did the Winter Olympics Begin? The Winter Olympics were born in France exactly 106 years before French Alps 2030 is scheduled to begin. The first Winter Games took place in Chamonix from January 25 to February 5, 1924, though at the time they weren't officially called the Olympics.
Dubbed "International Winter Sports Week," the event was organized as a compromise between the IOC and Scandinavian countries that had been hosting their own Nordic Games since 1901, and feared that a Winter Olympics would undermine them. As a result, the International Olympic Committee agreed to sponsor an international winter sports competition held in conjunction with the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris.
How Many Times Has France Hosted the Winter Olympics? Team USA's Beth Coats competes in the women's biathlon at the Albertville 1992 Winter Olympics in Les Saisies, France.Photo by Bob Martin on Getty Images
The French Alps 2030 Games will mark the fourth time France has hosted the Winter Olympics, tying the United States for the most Winter Games hosted by any single nation.
After pioneering the Winter Olympics in Chamonix in 1924, France returned to host duties in Grenoble in 1968. Those Games introduced the world to French alpine skiing sensation Jean-Claude Killy, who swept all three alpine events. They also featured the Olympic debut of what would become the marquee winter sports staples.
Albertville 1992 marked France's third turn as Winter Olympics host. These Games are remembered for spreading 13 venues across 11 valleys in the Savoy region—a decentralized model that presaged the even more spread-out approach planned for 2030. Albertville also saw the official debut of freestyle skiing, short-track speed skating and women's biathlon, and was the final Winter Games held in the same year as the Summer Olympics before the IOC shifted to an alternating two-year cycle.
The 2030 Games will honor this French legacy while charting a new course. Organizers have emphasized learning from both the successes and challenges of previous French Winter Olympics, particularly Albertville's multi-venue model and the infrastructure investments that continue benefiting local communities decades later.

What Makes These Olympics Different?Beyond the obvious multi-regional structure and sustainability focus, French Alps 2030 represents a philosophical experiment in how future Winter Olympics might need to evolve in an era of climate change.
The IOC has acknowledged that only 10 countries will be able to reliably host the Winter Games by 2040, down from roughly 15 today. Rising temperatures and unreliable snowfall have dramatically shrunk the pool of viable hosts. Previous Winter Olympics have relied on artificial snow, struggled with warm weather, or spent vast sums transporting snow to competition venues.
French Alps 2030's embrace of existing venues across a wide geographic area offers one potential solution. Rather than forcing a single city to build every facility necessary—regardless of whether that city has optimal conditions for all sports—the distributed model allows each sport to be contested in its ideal natural environment. It's a model future Winter Olympics may need to follow as climate-reliable host cities become harder to find.
The French Alps 2030 will write an important chapter in Winter Olympics history—just as Chamonix 1924 did when France introduced the world to the concept of Winter Games over a century ago.
