Erling Haaland Just Buzzed His Hair and the Internet is Freaking Out
In the wee hours of the morning on Sunday, soccer star Erling Haaland shocked the internet by saying goodbye to one of his most recognizable features.
The Manchester City striker debuted a dramatically shorter haircut on Instagram on August 23, trading his famous long blonde locks for a buzz cut ahead of the new season. Haaland first teased the transformation with a before-and-after Reel, writing, “New season, new trim 💇🏼♂️😎 Full episode on YT! 🎬”
He followed it with a carousel documenting the process of the haircut—and plenty of funny faces along the way—simply captioned, “Short hair don’t care 😅✂️”
Naturally, the drastic transformation blew up the internet, leaving the comments section full of “noooos” and “whys.”
Fellow footballer Jude Bellingham wrote, “no way,” while Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior wrote, “Nice.”
“WTF ARE U SERIOUS??,” one fan wrote.
Another said, “Like tangled he just cut off his powers 😭😭😭😭.”
Haaland gave fans the full story behind the haircut in a new YouTube vlog, revealing he’d actually been considering the chop for a while.
“Time to let it go,” he said of his long hair. “I was thinking about doing it straight after the World Cup, but it was so busy, so I didn’t do it. Season starts now, so it’s time to get a fresh start and everything.”
There was one person whose advice he had to ignore, however: Zlatan Ibrahimović.
“Zlatan told me never cut your hair cuz your strength is in your hair,” Haaland revealed before admitting, “I’m a bit nervous.”

The soccer star requested a seriously short, military-style buzz cut, and girlfriend Isabel Haugseng Johansen was there to witness the transformation. After seeing the finished result, she told him, “You look cute,” to which the World Cup star jokingly fired back that he was hoping he looked tough.
Haaland video-called several familiar faces to unveil his new look, including Jack Grealish, Pep Guardiola, and Ibrahimović.
Grealish joked that Haaland looked “about 10 years old,” while Ibrahimović had a much more dramatic response. “You lost a bet or what?” he asked before jokingly telling Haaland, “block me and erase my number, MY FRIEND.”
Perhaps the most hilarious reaction was Guardiola, who quipped, “You are lucky you have hair. I would love to have it.”
As for whether Haaland is already regretting the chop? Apparently not.
“No regrets. Never,” he declared. “But remember, the Vikings always cut it short.”

The 48-year-old country star performed his version of Nelson’s ’80s tune “Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground” during a TV special in 2025, where fans were left utterly amazed by his take on the Nelson classic.
Stapleton took the stage during the” “Austin City Limits Celebrates 50 Years” special in April 2025 to deliver a raw and stripped-down performance of “Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground,” one of the most enduring and tender ballads from Nelson’s entire catalog.

“If another man could do it as well as Willie, it would be you, Chris,” one fan commented under a YouTube video of Stapleton’s performance. Another user added, “Mannnn is there anything he can’t do…”
“Perfect song for your voice, you sang it like you owned it,” one commenter wrote to Stapleton, while someone else went as far as saying the “Tennessee Whiskey” crooner “has the best raw, full feeling voice. “
“Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground” was written by Nelson for the 1980 film Honeysuckle Rose — which he actually starred in opposite Dyan Cannon. In January 1981, Nelson released the track as a single, which soared to the top of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, becoming one of more than 20 No. 1 hits achieved during his legendary career.
By 1980, Nelson had already dominated the country charts with some of his massive ’70s tracks, like “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain,” “If You’ve Got the Money, I’ve Got the Time,” “Georgia on My Mind,” “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys,” “Good Hearted Woman,” “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Blue Skies.”
1973 Rock Song Was Written by the Lead Singer Before He Was Fired by the Band, and Fired by Van Halen
“Bad Motor Scooter” was a hard rock song released by Montrose in 1973. This hit was the first song that lead singer Sammy Hagar ever wrote. It was inspired by a couple he saw riding a motorcycle across the Golden Gate Bridge. Despite the song’s popularity, it never hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Hagar was fired from Montrose in 1975 during their European tour. When speaking about the experience in an interview with The Vinyl District, Hagar said, “I got fired from Montrose with nothing, and it really hurt—I thought, what did I do? From that point forward, I said I only want to play with people I like and people I can trust.”
Hagar went on to perform with Van Halen, replacing the lead singer, David Lee Roth, in 1985. However, he was also fired from that band in 1996. When speaking about what caused the issue, he told the LA Times, “[Eddie Van Halen] just wanted me to change one lyric in a new song, and I didn’t want to. I thought [the song] was great. But after I left, he drove to David Lee Roth’s house, and man, that’s worse than sleeping with the enemy.”
Hagar continued, “[He told me], ‘You never do what I ask you to do, you’re really stubborn.’ I said, ‘It’s never been like that before, Eddie.’ . . . But he said, ‘You’re a solo artist in this band, so you might as well really be a solo artist.’”

Hagar is now 78 years old. He is still performing live music to this day. Later this year, he is set to do a five-date Las Vegas residency. “It’s a dream come true for an elderly rock star that still wants to perform,” he said when speaking about the residency. “The hardest part of doing a tour and playing shows is not the show itself. It’s the packing up and moving into hotels, travel, travel, travel, running around. You get to the show late. Some days you don’t even have time to have a good meal.”
Montrose had a few more big hits while they were together, including “Rock Candy,” “Rock the Nation,” and “Space Station #5.” They officially disbanded in early 1977.
'Ghost Whisperer' Actor Turns 56 Today
Jay Mohr, the actor and comedian known to many TV viewers as Professor Rick Payne on Ghost Whisperer, turns 56 today.
Born Jon Ferguson Mohr on Aug. 23, 1970, in Verona, New Jersey, Mohr has built a career that has taken him from sketch comedy and sitcoms to major films, stand-up specials, radio and podcasting. His birthday also comes just days after a new development in his career: his long-running podcast, Mohr Stories, launched a dedicated streaming channel through LG Channels, per Page Six.
For fans of Ghost Whisperer, Mohr remains closely tied to the role of Professor Rick Payne. He appeared on the supernatural drama from 2006 to 2008, playing the professor who became involved in the show’s world of spirits and unexplained events.

The recurring role eventually developed into a regular part of the series, and Mohr appeared in 33 episodes. His work on Ghost Whisperer is only one chapter in a career that began years earlier and has continued across several parts of the entertainment industry.
Before becoming Professor Rick Payne, Mohr had already made his mark in comedy and television.
He hosted MTV’s Lip Service, earning a CableACE Award, before joining Saturday Night Live as a featured cast member for the 1993–94 and 1994–95 seasons. He later wrote about his time on the sketch comedy show in his memoir, Gasping for Airtime: Two Years in the Trenches of Saturday Night Live.
Mohr then moved into film and landed one of his best-known early movie roles in Jerry Maguire in 1996. He played Bob Sugar, the sports agent opposite Tom Cruise’s character. His film work later included Picture Perfect, Small Soldiers, Go, Pay It Forward, Street Kings, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, Air and Sweet Dreams.
On television, Mohr took on a wide range of roles. In 1999, he starred as Hollywood producer Peter Dragon in the comedy series Action. He later became the title character in the CBS sitcom Gary Unmarried, playing newly divorced father Gary Brooks from 2008 to 2010.
He also created, hosted and served as executive producer of Last Comic Standing. His work on the program earned him a Primetime Emmy Award nomination.
Mohr has continued to work in television over the years, appearing in shows including Suburgatory, The Cleaning Lady, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty and Mr. Birchum.
Away from acting, he has remained active as a stand-up comedian. His comedy album Happy. And A Lot. received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Comedy Album.
Mohr’s 56th birthday arrives shortly after Mohr Stories expanded into a new format.
The podcast, which Mohr launched in 2012, began a dedicated streaming channel. The show had already added video about a year and a half earlier.
Mohr told Page Six that the podcast already has a large library available.
“We have over 100 hours of content already, so the back catalog is substantial,” Mohr said.
He also described how the growing focus on short video clips could affect a host’s attention during an interview.
“Everybody’s filming themselves all the time, and they can’t wait to post themselves doing things,” he said. “The guest will say something, we’ll have a banter, and I’ll think, ‘Oh, that’ll probably be a good clip.’ And then I realize you better stop thinking about that and go back to paying attention to what your guest was saying!”
The podcast has welcomed guests from comedy, acting, music and sports. Past guests have included Jay Leno, Patton Oswalt, Kevin Pollak, Andy Richter, Flavor Flav, Gene Simmons, Billy Gibbons, Byron Scott and Mohr’s wife, Jeanie Buss.
Upcoming guests named for the show include Will Forte, H.R. of Bad Brains, Saturday Night Live cast member James Austin Johnson, comedians Adam Ferrara and Sarah Tiana, and Stephen Pearcy, the former lead singer and founder of Ratt.
Mohr and Buss, the Los Angeles Lakers governor, married in an intimate beachside ceremony in Malibu in September 2023 after becoming engaged in December 2022.

64 Years Ago Today, This Member of The Beatles Married Cynthia Powell — Then Left to Play a Gig
64 years ago today, John Lennon wed Cynthia Powell in a small ceremony at the register office in Liverpool. With The Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein as his best man and bandmates Paul McCartney and George Harrison present, the couple began what would be a short-lived marriage. But first, The Beatles had a show to play.
For Lennon, not even his own wedding stopped him from performing with The Beatles at the Riverpark Ballroom in Chester. The band played at the ballroom four Thursdays in the summer of 1962, with Ringo Starr joining the group for the first time only two days after they played their first gig there.
As the band began to soar into their newfound stardom, precautions had to be put in place for Lennon and his new wife to have a honeymoon. Their manager, Epstein, joined the couple for a belated honeymoon in Paris weeks after the ballroom shows, ensuring that the wedding news was kept private. But they couldn’t hide the news for long — Cynthia was pregnant.
She gave birth to their son, John Charles Julian Lennon, on April 8, 1963, in Liverpool. According to People, Lennon was on tour at the time and wasn’t able to see his wife and newborn son until three days later.
In 2011, Lennon’s son (who changed his name to Julian Charles John) spoke to The Times and revealed that he didn’t have a strong relationship with his father.
“Mum was more about love than Dad,” he said. “He sang about it, he spoke about it, but he never really gave it, at least not to me as his son.”
Cynthia also opened up about her strained relationship with her husband during an interview with The Independent in 1999.
“I didn’t marry a Beatle,” she said. “I married a broke student who played the guitar and ponced all my grant money off me.”
During a flight from India to the U.K. in 1968, People wrote that Lennon told Cynthia she had been unfaithful during their marriage. Later, she learned he wanted to sue for divorce “on grounds of adultery and seek sole custody of Julian,” People reported.
However, when she found out that Yoko Ono was pregnant with Lennon’s child, she began divorce proceedings against him. Their separation was finalized in November 1968, and Ono and Lennon married only four months later.
1973 Tina Turner Cover From an English Rock Band Was a Fan-Favorite Song, Despite Never Charting
The English rock band Humble Pie released a cover of the Ike & Tina Turner song “Black Coffee” in 1973. In it, the Blackberries provide the backing vocals while Steve Marriott sings the lyrics. The album that the song was on, Eat It, peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Although the song didn’t end up hitting the charts in the United States, it is considered one of the band’s most well-known songs. Many consider it Marriott’s best performance. As one fan on YouTube said, “Steve Marriott might be one of the most underrated frontmen ever. Great voice and no slouch with the axe.” Another said, “One of my favorite performances. True sound, no AI pitch devices faking tonal quality. This is music.”
Marriott was named as one of the “100 Greatest Singers of All Time” by Mojo and received an Ivor Novello Award for “Outstanding Contribution to British Music.” Unfortunately, he died in a fire at his home in Essex in 1991 at the age of 44.
In an interview with Defenders of the Faith, band member Jerry Shirley spoke about how Humble Pie would come up with their original songs. “As we developed, we got more into the start a jam and turn it into a song mode, but at the very beginning, Steve had a bunch of songs,” he explained. “Peter [Frampton] was still developing as a songwriter, but had a few ready to go. Even I had a couple of songs. We were all encouraged to write. Greg [Ridley] could write. I couldn’t sing for toffee, but I could write a decent tune. They could interpret it, or I could add to the writing. Those were the two ways we did it, and the ones that were the most fun, I’ve gotta say, were the ones that happened on the spot.”

Humble Pie released a few more popular songs throughout the years, including “30 Days in the Hole,” “Natural Born Bugie,” and a cover of “I Don’t Need No Doctor.” Although the original lineup is no longer together, Shirley handpicked the members of Humble Pie Legacy to celebrate their music.
Ella Langley's 'Choosin' Texas,' No. 1 Hit Song Lasting 18 Weeks, Was Written in Less Than 1 Hour
Ella Langley’s massive hit “Choosin’ Texas” took less than an hour to write, but the song has spent months making history.
The country star revealed that she wrote the song with Miranda Lambert, Joybeth Taylor and Luke Dick after an unexpected conversation led to its title.
Langley and Lambert finished the song’s lyrics in about 30 minutes, while Langley has also described the writing session as taking roughly 45 minutes.
Now, “Choosin’ Texas” has become one of the biggest country crossover songs of 2026. The song has spent a staggering 18 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and counting. The hit has also helped push Langley’s career to a new level following the release of her second album, Dandelion.

The story behind the song became even more interesting because its title was inspired by a real-life Miranda Lambert story involving an unexpected passenger: a kangaroo.
During an interview with SiriusXM’s The Highway host Cody Alan, Langley explained that she and Lambert were talking about the country star once having a pet kangaroo. Lambert had Texas license plates when she was reportedly pulled over with the animal in her car.
Langley recalled how that story led to the idea for the title.
“We were talking about her having a kangaroo at one point, and then she said she had Texas plates on when she got pulled over with the kangaroo in her car,” Langley said.
She then made a joke about what the police officer may have thought.
“And I said, ‘Well, the cop was probably like, ‘She’s from Texas, I can tell.’’”
Langley said the title came together almost instantly. During the writing session, she began singing a line while heading to the restroom.
“And literally that’s how we got that title,” Langley explained. “And I was going to the restroom in between writes and I was singing, ‘She’s from Texas I can tell by the way she’s two-stepping ’round the room’ and right when I said that, immediately Miranda was like, ‘Like the girl he went with.’”
Langley also remembered another major moment when the group found one of the song’s key lines.
“I’ll never forget us getting, ‘He always loved Amarillo by morning. I should have taken …’ I remember Miranda like getting up and like jumping up and down, you know, like this, she’s from Texas,” Langley said.
When the writing session ended, Langley already believed she had found the song that should lead her next album.
“Choosin’ Texas” was released ahead of Langley’s album, Dandelion, which arrived on April 10. The song quickly became a country radio favorite.
The hit made history earlier this year by reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts at the same time. Langley became the first female artist to achieve that feat.
Moreover, Dandelion debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 169,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. during its opening week, according to Billboard. The album became Langley’s first No. 1 on the chart and marked a major milestone in her career.
Months before the album’s release, Langley had already shared her excitement about the new music with fans during a live performance.

You could close your eyes, cross your arms and wiggle your nose, but some television characters never really disappear.
Nearly 60 years after first charming audiences as the magical genie in I Dream of Jeannie, Barbara Eden is celebrating her 95th birthday today, Aug. 23.
Long before she became one of television’s most recognizable faces, Eden was born Barbara Jean Morehead in Tucson, Arizona, before eventually making her way to California, where she studied acting and began landing television roles throughout the 1950s.
Her career changed forever in 1965 when she slipped into Jeannie’s signature pink costume opposite Larry Hagman. The NBC sitcom ran for five seasons, turning Eden into one of the defining stars of 1960s television and a pop culture icon whose character remains instantly recognizable decades later.
While many actors become forever associated with a single role, Eden built a career that stretched well beyond Jeannie. She appeared in films including Flaming Star alongside Elvis Presley and starred in dozens of television movies, sitcoms and stage productions over the years.
Even at 95, retirement isn’t on her mind.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Eden said she’s still open to taking on another acting role if the right project comes along.
“I’d probably do anything,” she said. “If it’s well written.”
She also joked that she’d love the chance to surprise audiences by playing against type.
“I could be really mean,” Eden said.
Her milestone birthday comes as a new generation continues discovering I Dream of Jeannie through streaming and classic television reruns, introducing the sitcom to viewers who weren’t around for its original run.
Over nearly seven decades in Hollywood, Eden has earned a reputation as one of television’s most enduring stars, with fans still celebrating the role that made her famous.

Started in 1955 as Columbia Record Club, the mail-order music hub eventually had more than 16 million members by 1996. Name changes, ownership changes and cultural changes would eventually lead to a decline in business. This September, Columbia House will end its run, but it will remain an important part of music history.

1973 Glam Rock Song, From a Band David Bowie Stopped From Breaking Up, Was a Radio Favorite
Mott the Hoople released “All the Way from Memphis” in 1973. The song rose all the way to No. 10 on the UK Singles Chart, but it did not make it onto the Billboard Hot 100. However, it did get airplay on rock stations in the US. Plus, the album that the song was released on reached the No. 35 spot on the Billboard 200.
Mott the Hoople nearly broke up, but they were encouraged to stay together by David Bowie. He wrote one of their other popular songs, “All the Young Dudes,” which was their first big hit. Bowie also produced their album of the same name.
When asked why their music was more popular in the UK than in the US in an interview with Musoscribe, Morgan Fisher said, “It’s happened to other bands too. I think Status Quo never got anywhere in the States. There are a lot of anglophiles in the States, people who just love British rock. So, with our careers, eventually we were about to crack it big.”
He continued, “We made the transition from playing to just anglophiles into playing to bigger audiences who would fill Madison Square Garden. So, we were about to crack it. So it’s kind of hard for me to look at the band and say, ‘Well, what is it about the band that would not have us cracking in the States?’ Because we almost did. And of course, ‘All the Young Dudes’ kicked down that door, I think. Bowie really gave us the keys.”

When speaking about “All the Way from Memphis,” one fan on YouTube said, “One of the greatest songs from one of the greatest albums from the 70’s. Mott is an essential masterpiece for anybody’s collection.” Another said, “This is what rock n’ roll is to me: theatrical, teary-eyed, over-the-top and larger than life. The fact that Ian Hunter was much older than his contemporaries in rock (being born in 1939), and the fact that he had a much more pragmatic and mature POV about the rock n roll life, knowing it probably wouldn’t last long, makes this very bittersweet.”
Although Bowie stopped the band from breaking up in the ’70s, they eventually did break up in the ’80s after the lead singer, Ian Hunter, left to pursue a solo career. Hunter is now 87 years old. He is still making music to this day. Fisher is also still making music. He is now 76.

I Finally Tried the Low-Carb Palmini Noodles From 'Shark Tank'—Here's My Honest Review
If there’s one thing I can’t resist, it’s a food product that promises to reinvent something I already love and pasta alternatives definitely fall into that category. I’ve tried my fair share over the years, but Palmini noodles, aka hearts of palm noodles, have been on my list for a while. They’ve become a popular low-carb pasta alternative, especially among people following keto or gluten-free diets, and after their appearance on Shark Tank, they gained even more attention.
Unlike traditional pasta, Palmini isn’t made from flour at all. The ‘noodles‘ are made from hearts of palm, the edible inner portion of certain palm plants. Palmini’s linguine contains sliced hearts of palm, water, sea salt and citric acid, and the brand says a serving has just 20 calories and 4 grams of carbs…which is a pretty dramatic difference from the pasta I’m used to eating.
But here’s the thing: I don’t really care how closely something looks like pasta if it can’t deliver once I take a bite. And Palmini really does look surprisingly noodle-like straight out of the package. So I wanted to know: Do Palmini noodles actually taste good? And, more importantly, can hearts of palm really satisfy a pasta craving?
I grabbed a package, followed the package directions, as well as an all-important milk– soaking instruction I saw on TikTok and dressed the noodles up with plenty of flavor. Here’s my honest Palmini noodles review and whether I’d make them again.

Palmini is a vegetable masquerading as pasta. The brand cuts the hearts of palm into familiar pasta shapes, including linguine, angel hair and lasagna, as well as rice and mashed varieties.
The result is a plant-based pasta alternative that’s naturally gluten-free and much lower in carbohydrates and calories than traditional pasta.
Palmini also earned attention after appearing on Shark Tank, which helped introduce the unusual pasta swap to a much larger audience. If you’re someone who loves discovering Shark Tank foods in the wild, this is certainly one of the more interesting ones to try.

Palmini vs. Traditional Pasta: What’s the Difference?There’s one very major difference between Palmini and traditional pasta: One is pasta and the other is a vegetable.
Traditional pasta is generally made from flour and water, and sometimes eggs, while Palmini is made from hearts of palm. Its linguine contains sliced hearts of palm, water, natural sea salt and citric acid.
That difference becomes pretty obvious once you take your first bite of Palmini. Traditional pasta gets its familiar tender-but-chewy texture from the dough, while hearts of palm retain a much more vegetable-like crunch.
So while they’re both long noodles you can toss with your favorite pasta sauce, I wouldn’t necessarily consider them interchangeable. Think of Palmini as a vegetable prepared like pasta rather than actual pasta.

I have to be honest: Palmini doesn’t really taste like pasta.
Visually, it gets close. The Palmini ‘linguine’ I tried was shaped like a slightly thicker spaghetti noodle, although the pieces were shorter than traditional spaghetti.
Texture is where I really noticed the difference.
Even after soaking my Palmini in milk and rinsing it extremely well, the noodles still had quite a bit of crunch to them. And when I say al dente, I mean very al dente. If you’re expecting that soft, chewy texture you get from a bowl of traditional pasta, you’re probably going to notice the difference immediately.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though. The crunch is actually satisfying in its own way, and because Palmini itself is fairly neutral, it gives you a great base for sauces, seasonings and toppings.
For me, however, the hearts of palm noodles were definitely giving more side-dish energy than main-dish energy. I enjoyed eating it, but I wasn’t sitting there thinking I’d been tricked into eating a bowl of spaghetti.
Even Palmini acknowledges that distinction. The brand says right in its FAQ that it isn’t pasta and won’t taste exactly like pasta because it’s made from hearts of palm. And after trying it myself, I think going in with that expectation makes a big difference.

Pros: Palmini is incredibly quick and easy to prepare. There’s no waiting for a giant pot of water to boil, and you can have the noodles heated through and ready to eat within minutes. They’re naturally gluten-free, low-carb and have a satisfying crunch. I also like that their relatively neutral flavor means you can take them in a lot of different directions.
Cons: They’re simply not pasta. If what you’re craving is a big, comforting bowl of spaghetti, I don’t think these will completely scratch that itch. I also didn’t find them particularly filling on their own, so I’d definitely add a good source of protein and plenty of other ingredients if I were turning Palmini into a full meal.

If you’re interested in making Palmini noodles, there are a few things I wouldn’t skip…

I saw this trick on TikTok and it’s supposed to take the bitter edge off. Before cooking, cover the drained Palmini with milk and let it soak for about 30 minutes. Palmini recommends this trick if you find the noodles too acidic, and a recipe featured on the brand’s site similarly calls for soaking the noodles in plain plant milk for 30 minutes.
You can use dairy milk or an unsweetened plant-based milk. This is especially helpful if you’re sensitive to that slightly acidic, hearts-of-palm flavor. I tested it both ways, and I noticed a small difference in the flavor, but not much. I might soak in milk for longer next time.

After soaking, drain the milk and rinse the noodles really well with water. Palmini itself recommends properly rinsing the noodles before pairing them with pasta sauce.
I wouldn’t rush this step. You want as much of that soaking liquid and original packing flavor gone as possible before adding your sauce.

Palmini is a pretty blank canvas, and I think that’s actually one of its strengths, but don’t expect the noodles to do all the work.
Go big on flavor. Think garlic, Parmesan, spices, herbs, a really good tomato sauce, pesto, Alfredo or whatever bold sauce you’re craving. I’d also add protein like grilled chicken, shrimp or meatballs if you’re serving Palmini as your main course.
Ultimately, my biggest advice is not to expect Palmini to be a pasta swap out. Once I stopped comparing every bite to spaghetti, I could appreciate the crunchy texture and convenience for what they were.
Are Palmini Noodles Worth It?Would I replace my Sunday bowl of pasta with it? No. But would I keep a package around for a quick, low-carb side dish that I can toss with a great sauce and have on the table in minutes? Absolutely.

English Rock Band Announces USA Shows for 'Injury Episode World Tour'
Static Dress, the British rock band, is bringing its Injury Episode World Tour to the U.S.
The four-piece band, made up of Olli Appleyard on lead vocals, Vincent Weight on guitars, George Holding on bass and Sam Ogden on drums, will be wrapping up the year with additional shows for their highly anticipated tour.
After announcing its U.K. and Europe dates, the band officially unveiled the schedule for the 27-date headline U.S. tour.
Traveling across the U.S., the band will kick things off in Detroit, Michigan, on Nov. 4, followed by shows in major cities in Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri and Colorado. The tour will then continue through the Southeast, East Coast and Northeast before concluding in Boston, Massachusetts, on Dec. 6.

1983 ‘Diff’rent Strokes’ Set Was a ‘Nightmare’ During One Special Guest’s Appearance
In the 1980s, Diff’rent Strokes was one of the most popular sitcoms on television, attracting celebrity guest stars such as David Hasselhoff, Milton Berle, Janet Jackson, and Muhammad Ali. But one celebrity guest was so high-profile that the set became a security nightmare.
During an August 2026 appearance on the Taboo’s Comics & Kicks podcast, Todd Bridges, who played Willis Jackson on the NBC sitcom from 1978 to 1986, recalled the guest star who caused chaos on set.
“Nancy Reagan was on the show, but the president came in the audience, and the audience was all Secret Service,” Bridges, 61, shared. “It was the biggest, craziest nightmare ever. It was terrible.”
Bridges added that the actors had to get security scans repeatedly while filming with the then-First Lady during Ronald Reagan’s presidency.
“Man, it was crazy,” Bridges recalled. “And it was like, you got scanned when you came close, you got scanned again, then they would scan you again, and then scan you again before you actually got in the door. It was a nightmare. We couldn’t wait till she left.”
“But I tell you, I learned a lot, too, about Secret Service,” he added. “One of the guys showed me in his trunk; they had surface-to-air missiles in there and stuff. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh.’… It was a no-fly zone.”
First Lady Reagan appeared in the Diff’rent Strokes episode, titled “The Reporter,” which originally aired on March 19, 1983. The story was centered on Arnold Jackson’s (Gary Coleman) school newspaper feature about drugs being sold on school grounds, which attracted the attention of the First Lady, who spearheaded the “Just Say No” anti-drug campaign.
Bridges has talked about Reagan’s cameo in past interviews. Following the First Lady’s death in 2016, he told The Hollywood Reporter that security was stationed everywhere throughout the TV shoot.
“The audience held about 300 people in total. We didn’t know exactly how many of them were Secret Service, but it was a lot of them. Tons of them,” he shared. “They had guys on the roof. They had guys everywhere, man. … The way I knew they weren’t our regular audience is that [the cast’s] jokes they weren’t laughing at, but when Nancy Reagan made a joke, they laughed at everything she said — ‘Ha ha ha ha!’”
Bridges noted that Reagan only rehearsed her scene one time and then shot it. “They didn’t want her to be there for that long,” he explained.

While the security was unnerving, the actor described the First Lady as “very nice.”
“She sat down and had long talks with all of us,” Bridges recalled. “She was wonderful, a really nice lady. …To have her on our show was a wonderful thing.”
Bridges later struggled with drugs, but has been sober for more than 30 years. He told THR that Reagan’s anti-drug message later resonated with him.
“She never reached out. But she actually did help me through my troubles,” the Diff’rent Strokes star shared. “ At my lowest point, I started remembering what she was talking about and the reason why the stuff was so bad. Once you figure out the root cause — what makes you do something— you figure out how to stop.”

With a decades-long career as an actress, Miles, who is the only surviving cast member of the iconic ‘60s horror classic, helped shape entertainment history with her timeless work.

Before becoming the face of Hitchcock’s legendary movie, Miles was first known as Miss Kansas in 1948, marking her first taste of the public spotlight.
With her striking beauty and wit, she was named Third Runner-Up in the 1948 Miss America pageant, with BeBe Shopp winning the title.
After trying her luck in pageantry, the experience opened the door for her to move to Los Angeles and pursue her acting career.

She made her film debut with a minor role in When Willie Comes Marching Home in 1950.
This was followed by her first supporting role in the 1952 movie The Rose Bowl Story.
With her steady yet gradual rise as an actress, her career continued to gain momentum as she began working with acclaimed directors, including Hitchcock and John Ford.
In 1955, Alfred Hitchcock Presents premiered with “Revenge,” where Miles played Elsa Spann, a former ballerina recovering from a mental breakdown.
Proving her talent and star power, she went from being a TV actress to a major film star in another Hitchcock drama, The Wrong Man, as well as The Searchers, directed by John Ford.
As she continued to capture the attention of the iconic director, she landed a role in what would become one of the most significant horror films in cinematic history.
It was the thriller film Psycho that cemented her cinematic legacy as she took her most famous role as Lila Crane.

Miles spoke about her working relationship with the late director, dispelling rumors about Hitchcock being inappropriate with the actresses who starred in his movies.
“There was always a great deal of respect between Hitchcock and me,” she shared in a 1983 interview with The Spokesman Review.
Despite the massive career boost that Hitchcock’s films gave her, she wanted to focus on being “a working mother” while keeping her private life out of the public eye.
“He assigned me the job of entering society on the jet-set level. I have nothing against society, but it just wasn’t me,” she added.
With four kids, she appeared in several TV shows. Among them was her famous cameo on The Twilight Zone and her comeback as Lila Crane in Psycho 2 in 1983.
It was in 1995 when Miles officially retired from acting, with her role as Dr. Ruth Goldin in the film Separate Lives serving as her final acting role.

’60s Rock Legend, Called ‘A Complete Original,’ Would Be 80 Today
Keith Moon was never interested in playing the drums like everyone else.
The legendary The Who drummer, who once jokingly called himself “the best Keith Moon-type drummer in the world,” would have turned 80 today, Aug. 23, 2026.
Born in 1946 in Wembley, London, Moon became one of rock’s most distinctive and influential drummers before his death at just 32.
The Who’s official biography describes him as one of the most influential drummers in rock history.
Moon joined The Who in 1964 after an impromptu audition and quickly developed a style that was almost impossible to mistake for anyone else’s. Rather than just keeping time, he treated the drums almost like a lead instrument. He filled songs with explosive rolls, crashes and constantly shifting rhythms.
His approach was a perfect match for The Who, whose explosive performances helped establish them as one of rock’s most powerful bands. Moon played on some of the group’s most important recordings, including My Generation, A Quick One, The Who Sell Out, Tommy, Who’s Next and Quadrophenia.
And Moon’s reputation was about much more than his drumming.
He became famous for his outrageous personality and legendary antics, earning the nickname “Moon the Loon.” But beneath the wild stories was a musician whose playing fundamentally changed what audiences expected from a rock drummer.
Author Nick Talevski later called Moon “the greatest drummer in rock,” while other musicians and critics have similarly placed him among the genre’s all-time greats.
Moon himself had an appropriately Moon-like way of describing his singular style. He once joked that he was “the best Keith Moon-type drummer in the world,” a line that perfectly captured how difficult his approach was to replicate.
His playing also earned praise from his bandmates. Following Moon’s death in 1978, bassist John Entwistle said that Moon had “broke all the rules of drumming” and still emerged as the greatest.
Moon’s life was cut tragically short. He died in London on Sept. 7, 1978, at age 32, after taking medication that had been prescribed to help him withdraw from alcohol. His death came shortly after the release of Who Are You, The Who’s eighth studio album.
The band continued, but replacing Moon was never going to be simple.
Decades later, his influence remains obvious. The Who’s official site still describes Moon as a drummer whose playing helped establish the band’s distinctive sound and whose approach transformed the role of drums in rock music.
