Jason Collins' Husband Brought Best-Selling Novels to the Big Screen
On May 12, Jason Collins passed away after battling brain cancer. He got married last May to Brunson Green, and Octavia Spencer attended and shared a picture of it on Instagram. You might not know Green, 58, by his name, but there is a good chance you know his work.
Who Is Brunson Green, Jason Collins' Husband? The producer started with comedies like 2008's Pretty Ugly People. The main character loses weight and reunites with her college friends. Melissa McCarthy, Spencer, and Allison Janey were in the cast. Tate Taylor wrote and directed the movie.

The tone of Green's work changed when he produced 2011's The Help based on Kathryn Stockett's book. Once again, Tate Taylor wrote and directed the movie, and Spencer was in the cast. The Help earned Green, Chris Columbus, and Michael Barnathan the Oscar for Best Picture.
He later produced a movie adaptation of David Quammen's short story called Walking Out. An estranged father (Matt Bomer) and son (Josh Wiggins) hunt for big game in the Montana wilderness.
Green's newest adaptation was Colleen Hoover'sRegretting You, starring McKenna Grace, Miller Adams, Allison Williams, and Dave Franco. The couple attended the premiere of the romantic movie together. It was released last year, months after Green and Collins got married in Austin, Texas.
Collins' former teammate, Richard Jefferson, and Spencer attended the ceremony, according to Out Sports. Local drag queens reportedly performed at the rehearsal dinner.
Collins was the first openly gay NBA player. Their relationship started a decade ago and got engaged at the Los Angeles Lakers Pride Night in 2023. They lived in Austin and Collins represented the NBA at youth clinics.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus Brings 'Veep' Selina Meyer Back for The Late Show
Stephen Colbert is spending his final days on The Late Show collecting celebrity goodbyes, and on Tuesday night Julia Louis-Dreyfus delivered one of the most memorable, starting with a kiss and ending with her character from Veep, Selina Meyer, drawing blood.
The Seinfeldand Veepstar opened the interview by asking Colbert's producers to roll a clip from the previous night's show, in which the 'Strike Force Five' hosts had played a game asking whether any of them had ever made out with a guest on camera. Colbert confessed to on-screen smooches with Sally Field, Helen Mirren, Allison Janney, Jeff Daniels, and Andrew Garfield, and added that Jane Fonda, while not technically a makeout, had 'stuck her tongue in my ear.'
Louis-Dreyfus watched the clip play, turned to Colbert, and said, 'No one's watching. It's just between us.' Colbert replied, 'What harm is there?' She answered, 'None! What could possibly go wrong?' The audience barely had time to react before the two kissed on camera, to the room's delight. 'The interview is going great so far,' Colbert deadpanned.
The two then got serious, briefly. With the show's final episode set for Thursday, May 21, Colbert asked Louis-Dreyfus, who has closed out multiple long-running series, including Veep after seven seasons, whether she had any advice for handling an ending. Her answer was terse and practical: 'Do you drink?' When Colbert confirmed he was capable, she told him, 'You'll be fine. All the above, baby. Just hit it.'
Related: Lisa Kudrow Says the 'Friends' Set Had a Dark Side Most Fans Never Knew About
The show-stopper came near the end of the interview, when Louis-Dreyfus produced a box and explained she had recruited the Veep writing staff to compose a proper sendoff, delivered fully in character as Selina Meyer. 'He does not know what I'm about to do,' she told the audience.
What followed was several minutes of rapid-fire Selina savagery. She noted that Colbert was 'as relevant as the Bill of Rights.' She told him his cancellation gave Donald Trump 'so much pleasure,' declaring, 'I always think of you as the Stormy Daniels of late night.' When she said she'd been hoping his goodbye would be 'more of a hospice type situation,' Colbert broke into genuine laughter.
The roast concluded with a Meyer suggestion. Colbert should just hold on until the executive who fired him gets fired himself, Selina advised, at which point he'll be 'gone as soon as he runs out of new cities for NCIS.'
Colbert took the whole thing in stride. He wrapped the segment by announcing, with perfect composure, 'The Sheep Detectives is in theaters now!'
Louis-Dreyfus is currently promoting The Sheep Detectives, a film she initially passed on. 'I said pass. I will have nothing to do with this. This makes no sense. It sounds bananas,' she told Colbert. 'And then I read the script. And I said I am totally doing it.' She called it 'uniquely tender and funny,' adding that it works for both adults and kids.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs its final episode Thursday, May 21 on CBS.

Melissa Gilbert Returns to Instagram After Husband Timothy Busfield's Arrest: 'Something Big Is Coming'
Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert returned to Instagram after deactivating her account following her husband Timothy Busfield's arrest.
On Wednesday, May 13, Gilbert, 62—who played Laura Ingalls Wilder in the original LHOPT TV series—took to Instagram for the first time since January.
"That's right. I’m back," Gilbert declared. "See you Friday! xo, MGB Repost from @officialmodernprairie."
Additionally, the post teased that "something BIG is coming" from her lifestyle brand Modern Prairie on Friday, May 15 at 8 a.m. PST.
"Modern Prairie Co-Founders Nicole[Haase] and Melissa are getting into the frame and into the picture, and we cannot wait to share what’s next," the update continued.
In the featured image were two crochet dolls created in the likeness of Gilbert and Haase. The caption added, "Our Get in the Picture campaign is kicking off, and we have so many exciting things to share, including special guests you’ve missed hearing from."
Gilbert notably shut off comments on the Instagram post. However, it marked her first update since deactivating her personal account in January, shortly after Busfield was arrested.
View this post on InstagramThe Albuquerque Police Department (APD) issued an arrest warrant for Gilbert's husband in January for allegedly sexually abusing twin actors, 11, from The Cleaning Lady. One of the alleged victims was just 7 when the alleged incidents began. On Feb. 10, Busfield, 68, pleaded not guilty to four counts of criminal sexual contact with a child—all third-degree felonies; his trial has been set for May 2027.
During an April interview on Good Morning America, Gilbert described the past few months as "hell."
"This has been the most traumatizing experience of our lives," she confessed. "Our life as we knew it is done. We are grieving what we had—all of our plans, all of our dreams, all of our ideas, all of our projects. For Tim, it’s done. He’s canceled.”
Gilbert explained, “Even if he’s exonerated, he will always be that guy. The last person in the world who would hurt a child. And believe me, if I thought for a second that Tim Busfield hurt a child, he’d have a lot more to worry about than prison.”
Before turning himself in, Busfield denied all allegations in a video released by TMZ. “They’re all lies, and I did not do anything to those little boys, and I’m gonna fight it,” he vowed. “I’m gonna fight it with a great team, and I’m gonna be exonerated, I know I am, because this is all so wrong and all lies.”
If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual assault, help is available 24 hours a day through RAINN's National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-4673.

1972 Rock Classic, Banned by Some Radio Stations, Became a No. 1 Hit
In 1972, one of rock and roll's founding legends scored the biggest hit of his career with a song many radio stations refused to play.
"My Ding-a-Ling" by Chuck Berry became a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, despite controversy surrounding its suggestive lyrics and widespread criticism from some fans and broadcasters.
Originally written by Dave Bartholomew years earlier under a different title, Berry transformed the song into a humorous audience-participation number built around playful double entendres. During live performances, crowds enthusiastically joined in on the chorus, helping turn the track into a concert favorite.
"Give people what they want — that's true," Berry told Rolling Stone of his approach to performing. "I'm searching for who is attentive out there in the audience. I can look around and be singing 'My Ding-A-Ling' and stop and sing 'The Lord's Prayer' because some people will be sitting out there looking like they’re from church. There’s certain songs and thoughts, for that matter, that almost make tears come to their eyes. I'd give it to them if that’s what they wanted."
Thus, it came as no surprise that the version that became a hit was recorded live in England, capturing the energy and laughter of the audience as Berry leaned fully into the song's innuendo-filled humor.
Not everyone appreciated it.
Because of the song's suggestive lyrics, some radio stations either banned "My Ding-a-Ling" outright or limited its airplay. Critics also expressed surprise that one of rock music's most influential pioneers was suddenly topping the charts with what many viewed as a novelty song.
Still, controversy only fueled the single's popularity.
Listeners embraced the song's playful irreverence, and it quickly climbed the charts, eventually becoming Berry's first and only No. 1 hit in the United States, a surprising milestone considering his enormous influence on rock music decades earlier.
By that point, Berry had already helped shape the sound of modern rock and roll with classics like "Johnny B. Goode," "Maybellene" and "Roll Over Beethoven." His guitar style, songwriting and stage presence influenced generations of artists, including The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
Ironically, the biggest commercial success of his career came not from one of those groundbreaking early rock songs, but from a cheeky singalong that divided audiences and alienated radio stations.
"'Ding-A-Ling' was clean," Berry said. "Made a lot of money: a $200,000 check. I'll never forget that check. And it's all dirt. Nice, cleeean dirt!"
More than 50 years later, "My Ding-a-Ling" remains one of the strangest and most memorable No. 1 hits of the 1970s, a reminder that rock history is filled with songs that go against the grain.

If You Love Stephen King, Christopher Golden’s Next Horror Is Coming Soon — And There’s Even a Maine Connection!
Nothing good happens in Maine, and it looks like nothing good happens on the way there either. Stephen King has praised Christopher Golden in the past, and for some good reasons. Golden is a horror writer you will not want to skip over, and his upcoming novel is coming soon.
Set to be published on July 26, 2026, Carry Me to My Grave brings us a story of supernatural evil that threatens on a journey to Maine. However, there is much more to this, and it reminds us to not leave things unsaid!
‘Carry Me to My Grave’ Is a Horror for the Summer MonthsCarry Me to My Grave follows the story of a race against time. Set in 1956, Malcolm has just two days to get to Maine, where his mother Maggie needs to be buried. It’s hundreds of miles away, and usually, that wouldn’t be a problem. However, there are dark forces coming after Maggie’s body, and if Malcolm and his sister-in-law Violet don’t manage to get her to Shediak, Maine within the two days, who knows what havoc could be unleashed.
On the surface, this story is a supernatural horror that is perfect for King fans. However, there’s much more to it, again, making it essential reading for fans of the Master of Horror. There’s a personal journey for Malcolm to go through, as Malcolm needs to learn about the family secrets that were once left buried deep and face his own feelings about the life he lived due to the rumors of his mother being a witch.
Early Reviews Are Positive About Christopher Golden’s StorySo far, the reviews are positive. According to Goodreads, it currently as a 4-star average, with a strong 57% rating it a solid four stars. Another 24% rate it 5 stars, and there are a few 3-star reviews.
Many reviewers enjoy the supernatural elements mixed in with the family drama. Becky Spratford shares, “As much as this is an action forward, race against time horror story, it is dependent on its characters and their complexity. That is very hard to balance well, but Golden does an excellent job here.”
There are some complaints about the story slowing down a little, but overall, the views are positive, making it the perfect summer horror read.
Lisa Ann Walter Reveals Why She Turned Down 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Five Times
We won't be seeing Abbott Elementarystar Lisa Ann Walter on Housewives anytime soon.
In an interview with Betches Media shared on Tuesday, the 'Parent Trap' star, now known for her role of Melissa Schemmenti on the hit ABC show, shared that she's been asked more than once to join The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
View this post on Instagram"They asked me to be on the show 5 times," she shared. "I said, 'I'm not a housewife, I'm not a wife,' and I said, 'I don't have a house, I don't live in Beverly Hills'...the only thing I've got is real."
"And no shade to people who love this," she added. "I watch 90 Day Fiancé, so who am I to judge?"

However fans of the star, who has a Hulu comedy special coming out on May 15, thought she may be a great fit — particularly with this most recent season's cast.
"I want her and Jennifer Tilly filming right now!!" one commenter said of the 'Chucky' actress, while another echoed, "She would vibe so well with Tilly."
"No but I need her to be on the show now," wrote another, mentioning Andy Cohen and Bravo in their comment. "PAY HER WHATEVER SHE WANTS!"

Other fans, however, brought up the characters she's played, including Schemmenti and Chessi from 'The Parent Trap,' and how they'd relate to RHOBH.
"The irony is that her character on Abbott watches Housewives," one commenter said of the tough-acting Philly-native public school teacher.
"Yea cause everyone knows that Chessi doesn’t live in that part of California," another said of her fan-favorite character from the 1998 movie, as parts of the film took place in Napa.

This isn't the first major project that Walter has turned down recently. In March, she shared that she also said no to joining Dancing with the Stars, following her longtime friend and co-star Elaine Hendrix competing in Season 34.
“I am in an incredible position right now, in a very dicey industry, where I’m on a hit show. And so, they happen to film at the same time,” she told People at the time, despite joining Hendrix in the ballroom during the show's "Dedication Night."
“Even doing one episode with Elaine was so time-consuming that I don’t know how I could do it if the seasons run the same,” she said.

Don't Do This Before Your Next Blood Test, Doctors Warn
Going to the doctor can be nerve-wracking, especially if you know you're due for bloodwork. Many people get queasy at the word "blood," let alone the sight of it—even if it's their own. Plus, you may not love needles (does anyone?). Still, lab results can provide vital information about your health, including your risk for cardiovascular disease (cholesterol levels) and diabetes (blood sugar).
But doctors say it's equally vital to follow the directions they and the lab give you.
"I always remind patients that bloodwork is only useful if it is accurate," says Dr. Uma Darji, MD, a family physician in North Carolina. "These results guide our clinical decisions, and following instructions before lab draws helps make sure that we are getting a true idea of your baseline health."
Another physician agrees, saying that when your doctor has an accurate picture of your overall health, they can develop an appropriate care plan for you.
"As a family medicine doctor, I am always looking to rule in or rule out different conditions or confirm a diagnosis, and an important component of that evaluation is bloodwork," Dr. Bayo Curry-Winchell, MD, the founder of CliniciansWhoCare.com, tells Parade.
From there, Dr. Curry-Winchell says, she can prescribe medication and order additional testing. But inaccurate lab results can lead to misdiagnoses and unnecessary extra steps, like imaging and prescriptions you don't really need.
So, doctors say it's vital to avoid certain common mistakes before bloodwork, and one in particular. Scroll on to find out what it is.

Don’t Do This Before Your Next Blood Test, Doctors WarnYou may not think drinking black coffee could skew blood test results, because you're not adding anything like milk that would spike your blood sugar. But this isn't the case.
"Black coffee can influence mainly dehydration values," explains Dr. Yoshua Quinones, MD, a board-certified Internist with Medical Offices of Manhattan and labfinder.com contributor. "It can also influence your cholesterol, [including] triglycerides and A1C blood sugar levels."
It may surprise you to learn that black coffee can affect your A1C, even if you didn't add sugar or milk (a carb) to your cup. To be clear, doctors don't recommend coffee with add-ins, either.
"Coffee with cream or sugar is much more likely to alter your results," Dr. Darji says. "Sugar directly will elevate your blood glucose levels, and cream or milk will alter your cholesterol levels. With fasting labs, coffee with cream or sugar is not allowed."
Some studies don't find a clinically significant link between pre-bloodwork coffee intake and health markers, such as blood sugar and cholesterol.
Still, doctors, including those at the Cleveland Clinic and Dr. Curry-Winchell, don't recommend black coffee before blood draws, either. In fact, Dr. Curry-Winchell recently observed the effects of black coffee on bloodwork in her practice. One of her patients had two cups of black coffee the morning before his blood draw. His A1C put him in the range for a pre-diabetes diagnosis (5.7% to 6.4%).
"When we repeated the labs, his glucose levels were back to normal," she says. "In his case, it only resulted in an extra blood draw, but it could have been worse, yet it still led to two visits to the lab, an extra doctor visit and stress while he waited for the results."
Related: ‘I’m an Endocrinologist, and This Is the #1 Coffee Order I Recommend for Stable Blood Sugar’
What Can Happen if You Drink Black Coffee Before a Blood TestBlack coffee may not have as big of an effect on your fasting bloodwork as coffee with cream or sugar does, but it can alter it.
"Unlike coffee with cream or sugar, it doesn’t contain calories, so it’s less likely to directly spike glucose or triglycerides, which is part of your cholesterol panel," Dr. Darji says. "However, caffeine can still lead to some changes."
It's true that black coffee is bitter without any added sugar, cream or milk. But it can still mess with your blood glucose numbers, and your doctor uses these numbers to screen you for diabetes and pre-diabetes.
"In terms of blood glucose tests, what’s being measured is your body’s ability to regulate sugar," says Dr. Brynna Connor, MD, a healthcare ambassador at NorthWestPharmacy.com. "Coffee stimulates cortisol and adrenaline, and in some individuals, this causes an increase in blood sugar, and even a small elevation in blood sugar levels can shift your results into a higher category."
When stress hormones and insulin are affected, it can have a ripple effect on the rest of the body—and your blood test results. "They can affect results as they can impact LDL and HDL, white blood cells, suppress TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) and electrolytes," Dr. Connor explains.
Also, coffee is a diuretic, meaning it can cause dehydration. If you hate the blood draw process, you'll want to take this one to heart.
"Dehydration...makes it harder to draw blood," Dr. Curry-Winchell says. "If you are dehydrated, the phlebotomist may have difficulty accessing your veins, which can increase the chance of having multiple sticks and a longer, more painful appointment."
She warns that dehydration can also make some results appear higher than they are, including blood urea nitrogen (BUN), which reflects how well the kidneys filter toxins from the body. "When you are dehydrated, it can cause the lab results to be elevated, giving a false impression that your kidneys are not working well," she explains.

Can You Ever Drink Black Coffee Before a Blood Test?"It depends on the type of test," Dr. Darji says. "For fasting labs, the standard recommendation is to avoid anything other than water for about eight to 12 hours beforehand, which typically includes coffee."
Certain types of bloodwork require fasting, while others may not. Your best bet is to ask your doctor and the lab, but Dr. Connor says that fasting is typically required for blood tests that look at:
- Fasting glucose
- Lipid panels (especially triglycerides)
- Comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP)
- Basic metabolic panel (BMP)
Dr. Connor notes that fasting typically isn't required for blood tests to check your:
- Thyroid
- Vitamin level (often)
- Complete blood count (CBC)
Keep in mind that your doctor may be checking multiple health markers—like triglycerides and vitamin levels—so it's always best to ask. "If your bloodwork doesn’t require fasting, a small cup of black coffee is probably fine, but you should always follow the lab’s instructions and/or your physician’s guidance," Dr. Connor says.

Other Blood Test Dos and Don’tsBesides following fasting instructions to a T, including potentially abstaining from black coffee, Dr. Quinones says you can take other steps to ensure your blood test goes smoothly.
He suggests:
- Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water
- Wearing short sleeves, so it's easy to access your arms
- Taking your medications, unless otherwise directed
- Bringing the papers your doctor gave you when they ordered the labwork
- Bringing your ID
- Avoiding alcohol 24 hours before the test
- Not engaging in vigorous exercise right before the lab
And remember: "Don't drink coffee for at least eight hours prior," Dr. Quinones says.

The Unexpected Baby Name Trend Tied to the Trump Family That’s Raising Eyebrows
The latest list of the most popular baby names is out, and one famous family is responsible for a new trend. Even though Liam, Noah, and Oliver took the top three spots, one notable name gained momentum in the last year—and parents think it may have something to do with Donald Trump.
In 2024, the name Barron ranked 1,019 on the Social Security Administration’s list. But in 2025, it had jumped up to 790. Of course, there’s some suspicion that the President’s youngest son, Barron Trump, has something to do with the surge.
While number 790 may seem like it’s pretty low on the list, it’s actually the highest this name has ever climbed. That’s right, according to the U.S. Social Security Administration’s stats, Barron was more popular in 2025 than any other year in recorded history.

(Photo by Spencer Platt/Getty Images)Do any of Trump’s other children (or grandchildren) have names that are on the rise? It doesn’t look like the Barron effect is holding true for the other members of the First family. The Commander-In-Chief’s second-youngest son’s name is in steady decline. Back in 2000, Eric ranked 42nd on the SSA’s annual list. By last year, it had dropped down to 273. Eldest daughter Ivanka’s name has never made the top 1,000, and youngest daughter Tiffany plummeted from 101 in 2000 to 880 in 2025.
If you’re wondering about Donald (both the Presdient’s name and the name of his son, Donald Trump Jr.), it hasn’t fared well either. Twenty-five years ago, Donald ranked 217. Since 2000, it has been in steady decline, reaching only 690 last year.
Despite these drops, other members of Trump’s family have names that are on the rise. Granddaughter Kai’s name ranked 403rd in 2000. It hit 59th place in 2022 but dropped to 93rd in 2025.
Of course, other First Family names didn’t follow Kai’s semi-meteoric rise. Carolina, Eric and Lara Trump’s daughter, was the 267th most popular baby name in 2000. But by 2025, it had fallen to 405. Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner’s daughter’s name, Arabella, went from 798 in 2020 to 213 last year. Brother Joseph’s name also dropped—from eight to 29. In an impressive change, their brother Theodore’s name rose from 312 to the number-four spot.
Will Barron continue to work its way up the list? We’ll have to wait until next year to see if parents are just as impressed with the presidential pick.
Nancy Guthrie Case: Sheriff Chris Nanos' Fate Decided After Push to Remove Him from Office

The fate of Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has been decided after an effort to push him out of office.
The move comes as Todayco-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mother, Nancy Guthrie, remains missing after her Tucson, Ariz., abduction. Nanos has been leading the investigation into the 84-year-old's disappearance.
On Tuesday, May 12, the Pima County Board of Supervisors held a meeting, during which it decided not to take action against Nanos, local news station KOLD-TV reported.
The board considered vacating the sheriff's position amid discrepancies involving Nanos' work history and issues with his management of the PCSD, in addition to financial and personnel decisions.
At Tuesday's meeting, supervisor Steve Christy made a motion to vacate Nanos—but no one seconded the motion, so it failed. A different motion to not take action was then passed 4-0 (Christy abstained).
“Leadership from our sheriff is so incredibly important. And what I hope we see in the path ahead, is true leadership that looks out for the interest of the full team,” Jennifer Allen, a Pima County Board of Supervisors chair, said.

Following the vote, Nanos told KOLD-TV, "It is my responsibility to find a way to get my team to work better, to work in a cohesive way and to help with that division that exists there, and that’s what we’ll work for."
He added, "We’re there to solve problems, and it’s hard to solve problems if I can’t solve problems within my own organization, so that’s where I’m at and that’s where I’ll be working."
One of the board’s issues with Nanos happened when he allegedly lied during a deposition for an unrelated lawsuit. During a deposition, Nanos denied under oath having been suspended during his time as an officer in El Paso, Texas, before joining the PCSD. However, Nanos was suspended several times, according to records obtained by CBS News.
View this post on InstagramThe push to remove Nanos as sheriff was not related to Nancy’s case, which has surpassed 100 days. However, it comes on the heels of FBI Director Kash Patel criticizing the PCSD’s handling of the investigation, claiming that the FBI was blocked from the investigation for four days.
Although Savannah has offered a $1 million award, and the FBI has released video clips and images of a masked individual on Nancy’s front porch, no suspect has been named in the case.

Legendary Hitmaker Ranked 'Best R&B Singer' of All Time, With 25 Grammy Awards, Turns 76
We just called to sayhappy birthday to the one and only Stevie Wonder, who turns 76 years old today. This year, the soul legend will be spending his birthday in his hometown of Detroit, Mich., surrounded by friends and fans.
In honor of Wonder's 76th birthday, Urban Solutions Training and Development Corp. is hosting the Love Gala on Wednesday, May 13. The event is black-tie and serves to honor the 25-time Grammy winner's life, as well as his commitment to harmony and humanity.
The gala will begin at 6 PM with a VIP reception, with the event running from 7 to 10 PM at the Bonstelle Theater. The event will feature "dinner, dancing, a commemorative book, and live entertainment in tribute to his extraordinary legacy." Tickets are still on sale, but since the event is coming up soon, those who want to attend should act fast.
The Porterville Recorder shared that his cousin, Sharon DuMas, who is an organizer of the event, said Wonder "is aware of the celebration and yes, he is expected to attend the event."
This is an excellent way to celebrate the Motown legend, who broke into the music business when he signed with Tamla Records at only 11 years old and recorded his first Motown single when he was just 12. Last year, Wonder was named the best R&B singer of all time, ahead of Aretha Franklinand Michael Jackson, by Billboard.
At just 13 years old, Wonder landed his first No. 1 R&B hit with "Fingertips – Pt. 2." The song also landed him on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time. That was the beginning of a long and very successful career. He has since recorded 20 songs that hit No. 1 on the R&B charts and 10 songs that hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Adult Daughter Accuses Father of ‘Stealing’ From Her for Charging Her $300 Rent and People Have Strong Feelings
Recently, a Louisiana father, Walt, called into The Ramsey Show to ask Dr. John Delony if he was in the wrong for charging his adult daughter $300 a month in rent. While Walt thought he was doing the right thing, his daughter has recently started telling people he’s stealing from her.
There’s More To The StoryWalt initially told Delony and co-host Rachel Cruz that his 23-year-old daughter had been allowed to live at home while attending school, but they never thought it would carry over into graduate school. While the parents say they don’t need the money to help with finances, they did begin charging their daughter rent in 2024 after she’d already been employed for two years. They also charge her a third of the house's food budget.
As the two hosts dug into the situation, they also learned that Walt’s daughter has a fiancé she met after only 12 weeks. The fiancé wants the daughter to pay for his grad school and is pushing her to get married before she’s ready. When her parents try to warn her that these are red flags, she becomes hostile and mean and tells people her parents are stealing from her.

Delony and Cruz Weigh InBoth Delony and Cruz admitted this is a tough situation, but ultimately, the parents were doing the right thing. The daughter is unwilling to move out of her parents’ home, but also doesn’t want to pay rent. She wants to bring over her fiancé, whom her parents dislike, but don’t want to hear their feedback on his very obvious red flags.
Delony told Walt that he clearly loves his daughter and is trying to teach her responsibility. He also explained to Walt that, as an adult, she has the right to date freely. On the other hand, Delony also asserted that her parents are her landlords and have the right to set the rules for their home.
Walt’s Next MoveThe final thoughts from Delony and Cruz were that Walt and his wife had to have a difficult conversation with their daughter and ultimately respect her choice. Delony noted that he’s observed a phenomenon among young adults who feel they need to create conflict when it's time to make big life decisions, like leaving home.
Most commentators on the video agreed that the daughter is taking advantage of an amazing situation, with some even wanting the daughter out of the house completely. So while Walt and his wife are doing the right thing, they may still lose out if she continues to make poor life decisions.

Nurse’s Boyfriend Claims Dave Ramsey Has Her ‘In a Cult’ After She Paid off $83K in Debt
When Dave Ramsey'sBaby Steps work for someone, they really work. Take, for example, one nurse who says that she was able to pay off $83,000 in student loan debt following his methods. And, what's even better, is that she says she can probably eliminate the rest of her $76,000 by the end of next year if she can get the support of her boyfriend.
Only, there's a catch. That's because her boyfriend thinks Ramsey's methods resemble those of a cult leader, and he's giving her the cold shoulder when it comes to her financial dreams. Can other financial pros give her the support she needs to keep going? Or will this be it for this nurse and her goal of financial independence?
Woman Says Her Boyfriend Compared Dave Ramsey's Methods to a 'Cult'A woman who goes by the name Norah called into the Ramsey Show to ask for help with getting her boyfriend to become more supportive of her debt goals. According to her, she's worked very hard to follow Ramsey's Baby Steps method, which involves paying off debts to achieve personal wealth.
And while she excitedly admitted to already being able to pay down $83,000 of her student loan debt, she says her boyfriend hasn't exactly been thrilled with the process. Instead, she says his lack of support is leaving her "exhausted," and she isn't sure she'll be able to keep going at this rate if he doesn't get on board.

"How can I manage burnout, stay motivated, and help my partner understand why becoming debt-free matters so much to me?" she asked. After host Ken Coleman asked if she had explained the method to him and let him know how it works, she said that she had, and that he had told her that it sounded like she was in a "cult."
Norah's Boyfriend Isn't AloneMany people describe Ramsey and his followers as being part of a cult. That is partly because the system itself requires such a strict adherence to the rules that it's easy to make the leap.
But, another thing that has people using the "c" word has to do with the fact that Ramsey himself has linked his financial advice with religion, specifically the evangelical Christian faith.
However, Yahoo! Finance argues that his methods don't fall so neatly into the cult genre. That's because you don't have to be a Christian to use his tips (or succeed with them), and he doesn't really use coercive behaviors to turn his fans into devout followers. So, where does that leave Norah and her partner?
Well, this sounds more like a relationship issue than a genuine concern about her well-being. If I had to make a guess, I'd say the boyfriend may be tired of living a frugal lifestyle to keep up with Norah's savings, which could benefit them both in the long run. That means it may be time for Norah to decide if she wants to trim her love life while also cutting back on her spending.

1992 ‘Full House’ Episode Delivered a Memorable Crossover With ‘60s Rock Icons—And Made TV History
On May 12, 1992, the beloved TV sitcomFull House delivered one of the most unexpected and memorable pop culture crossover moments, transforming a storyline into an MTV-style music event with an appearance from ‘60s rock icons, The Beach Boys.
The episode from Season 5, Episode 26 featured John Stamos’ character, Jesse Katsopolis (best known as Uncle Jesse) and his band, Jesse and the Rippers, filming a music video for the emotional ballad, "Forever."
After a few hiccups in the filming process, Uncle Jesse then went on MTV (during the era when the network famously still aired music videos), with a guest appearance from real-life MTV VJ Martha Quinn to promote the chart-ready hit, which helped frame it as if it were a genuine music release.
In the scene, Quinn states, “It’s a Beach Boys song, isn’t it?” as Jesse confirms, “Yeah, it’s a Beach Boys song,” adding, "I know the Beach Boys, they sang on it, Beach Boys and I are,” before cutting off and crossing his pointer and middle finger to indicate that they are close.
The music video is stylized in a dreamlike montage, fully leaning into the early '90s aesthetic. In addition to lying in bed covered in crisp, white sheets, he's also seen playing guitar in a stone church with candles lit all around him, as footage of his on-screen twins appears. The song is dedicated to his family and his love story with Rebecca, played by Lori Loughlin.
By airing the music video within the episode itself, Full House blurred the line between sitcom fiction and real-world music promotion. And not only did the musical crossover make TV history, but it also introduced a Beach Boys classic to new generations, helping cement its legacy in pop culture.
Seriously, ask any Full House fan about "Forever", and they’re sure to still remember all the lyrics to the tune.

— RetroNewsNow (@RetroNewsNow) May 12, 2026“This song makes me cry. Dennis wrote so beautifully. I remember Full House when Jessie sang this to Becky on their wedding day,” one fan expressed under the music video comments, as another added, “Full House brought me here. This was the song Jesse played for his wedding to Rebecca.”
“When Jesse (John Stamos, sang this to his babies in a video he was making) in the sitcom Full House. It was very touching, made me cry," someone else chimed in.
Before the MTV music video episode, Jesse first sang the song to Becky during their wedding episode in 1991, as "Forever's" sentimental lyrics became strongly associated with his romantic personality and relationship.
While the TV version of the song never charted on Billboard, the performance and song became a standout for fans, remaining a nostalgic memory 34 years later, remembered as one of the most iconic musical crossovers in 1990s television.
As for the original track, it was part of the band’s 1970 album, Sunflower, written and sung by Dennis Wilson, becoming the band’s most beloved deep cut, and widely considered one of their most beautiful ballads.
Meanwhile, Stamos brought his partnership with the Beach Boys off-screen, still touring and performing with the rockers more than three decades later.

Jenna Hager Bush Was Officially 'Banned' From Her Daughter's Volleyball Games
Parents of young athletes know that game day can be fraught with tension and drama. Today with Jenna & Sheinelle co-host Jenna Bush Hager is discovering that firsthand. Bush Hagar revealed on the May 12 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show that she had recently been “banned” from her 13-year-old daughter’s volleyball games—but the reason for her exile is more hilarious than hurtful.
Bush Hagar explained to Clarkson that it all started when “the score was six to seven” at a game.
Can you see where this is going?

The mom of three couldn’t help herself and yelled out, “Six, seven!” which apparently didn’t go over too well with her newly turned teen.
“She looked at me from the bench, where I spent most of my time as a seventh grader, too, and she was like, ‘How could you do that?’ " shared Bush Hager. Afterward, Mila told her mom, “You’re suspended. You’re not allowed to come,” and despite her promise to “be quiet”, she was informed by her daughter, ”You’re not capable.” And that was that.

The volleyball incident is something she’d previously talked about on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle. "Afterward, I was frozen out,” she said. “I went to one volleyball game this year."
Embarrassing cheering aside, Bush Hagar holds out hope that she hasn’t been kicked out forever: "I think I'm gonna be unfrozen for next year…. I’m just not gonna try to be the center of attention."
View this post on InstagramThis isn't the first time Jenna's enthusiastic cheering has rubbed her kids the wrong way. Her youngest, 6-year-old Hal, has also given her grief at his flag football games. "Hal's all like, 'Don't cheer. You're too loud, Mom,'" she said.
Bush Hagar, who shares her kids with husband Harry Hagar, is a self-described “sports kid” who grew up cheering at dozens of baseball games each year. Her father, former President George W. Bush was a part-owner of the Texas Rangers for a number of years before becoming President.
As it turns out, apparently, presidential connections don't buy you a free pass from sideline embarrassment.
Beloved 2000s Rock Band Makes Long-Awaited Return With First New Music in Years
Breaking Benjamin made their triumphant return to music with a haunting new single that catapults the iconic 2000s rock band into a new era.
On May 13, the Pennsylvania rockers released "Something Wicked," a bold and punchy track that finds the band pushing deeper into their darker sonic territory while undoubtedly channeling the sound that has defined them for years.
This past weekend, the five-piece debuted the new track during their set at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Fla.
"'Something Wicked' is a quick look into our influences both musically and thematically. We challenged ourselves especially hard on this record and on this song," explained singer Benjamin Burnley. "We pushed every boundary we've previously had as far as it will go, then pushed a little more. 'Something Wicked' was the result."
Fans have been loving the song, with many comparing it to the sound of their 2002 debut studio album, Saturate.
"This brings me straight back to the Saturate era," one fan wrote in an Instagram comment. "Old school Breaking Benjamin is BACK!"
"This is incredible!! You can hear a beautiful mix of the bands roots with their early stuff and the past couple albums combined," another said. "It’s so good."
The song is Breaking Benjamin's first release since 2024's "Awaken," which marked the group's return to music after five years. "Awaken" saw a lot of commercial success, climbing to No. 1 on the BillboardAlternative Digital Song Sales chart and earning a spot in the Top 20 on several acclaimed charts, including the Billboard Hot Hard Rock Songs chart. Olivia Newton-John Reportedly Didn't Pursue Romance With John Travolta Over Scientology Concerns
Ever since appearing as the leads in the musical film Grease, fans have always adoredJohn Travolta and Olivia Newton-John's chemistry on and off screen. According to claims in a new biography, Newton-John turned her back on a possible romance with the actor over Scientology.
In the new biography by Matthew Hild titled A Little More Love: The Life and Legacy of Olivia Newton-John, he claims that the late actor asked around about Travolta's involvement with Scientology after filming Grease. Travolta is one of many A-list Hollywood actors a part of the religious movement, with him having openly talked about his involvement since the mid-1970's. He was introduced to Scientology by fellow actors and got more involved while filming The Devil's Rain.
For years, Grease castmates believed that Newton-John and Travolta had chemistry that went beyond their characters. Twenty years after filming the iconic movie, the two were still closer than ever, with Hild writing in his book about a conversation she had with a bandmate.
The book reveals that a musician who had been married to a Scientologist joined her band and became good friends with the actor. It led to a conversation about the dynamics of marriage within the religion. Newton-John wanted to ask a personal question, to which he agreed and said that if he knew that Travolta was a Scientologist. The musician was well aware of Travolta's status.
"I know the Church of Scientology really reveres him as a very valuable follower. If I had married John, would he have expected me to become a Scientologist?" asked Newton-John.
Related: 2001 Thriller Film, Once a Box Office Flop, Is Suddenly Climbing the Charts 25 Years Later
The reason for her question was undeniable, with the musician having told the actor that he wasn't required to convert to Scientology. He did express that "it would have been encouraged, put it that way." His response ended the conversation, with Newton-John saying that it's all she needed to know. According to Hild, that conversation is what likely led the actor to continue her friendship with Travolta instead of a romantic relationship.
While remaining close friends, Newton-John would end up marrying Matt Lattanzi in 1984 and would later divorce in 1996. The actor/singer would then marry John Esterling in 2008, and they were together until her death from breast cancer in 2022. Travolta, on the other hand, would go on to marry Kelly Preston in 1991, and they were together until she died in 2020. Preston was introduced to Scientology in the 1990s and was a supporter alongside her husband.
