Check your pantry: A beloved mini donut snack is being pulled from shelves due to an allergen labeling error.

The Better Bakehouse Snack Company announced on Aug. 24 that it is recalling certain lots of Donutful Chocolate Dipped Vanilla Cake Donuts after discovering that the product may contain milk that isn’t listed on the label.

The recall is limited to specific lots manufactured and distributed in March 2026. One allergic reaction has been reported in connection with the recalled product. The individual has fully recovered, according to the company.

The recalled donuts, which come in a 7.05-ounce carton containing five 1.41-ounce pouches, or 10 mini donuts total. Only one specific lot is impacted: Lot 26078, with a best-if-used-by date of 9/15/2026. The affected product was manufactured and distributed in March 2026, reaching retailers nationwide as well as Amazon.

The FDA warns that people with a milk allergy or severe sensitivity to milk could experience a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product.

Consumers who have the affected snack cakes should not eat them. They can dispose of the product and obtain a refund from their point of purchase with a receipt, or return the product to the retailer for a refund.

The company says its contract manufacturer has identified the cause of the mislabeling issue and taken corrective measures. The Better Bakehouse Snack Company is also working with retailers to remove any remaining affected products from the marketplace.

The forces of heavy metal are colliding this fall, as hard rock vets Corrosion of Conformity and reunited Texas metal band The Sword have announced a U.S. co-headlining tour, with stoner-doom power trio Hippie Death Cult to open throughout.

“Well, well, well… to all the free thinkers and beer drinkers, the Corrosion train won’t stop,” C.O.C.’s Pepper Keenan said of the forthcoming tour. “Everywhere all the time! Gonna be ripping with The Sword and Hippie Death Cult. See ya on the horizon. Let’s f—ing go!”

Announced this week, the headliners are performing a two-week run kicking off Nov. 2 in Buffalo, New York, and wrapping up Nov. 19 in Pensacola, Florida. The tour features 13 shared shows, plus one additional festival appearance by C.O.C., performed solo.

“We are beyond stoked to announce we’re hitting the road in November with absolute legends @coccabal & @theswordofficial!!” C.O.C. wrote on Instagram alongside a post with tour details. “This run will directly follow our current North American dates, as well as our full month tour in Europe/U.K. prior. What a way to cap off the year.”

Formed in June 1982, the Raleigh, North Carolina, band is renowned for their sonic shapeshifting and celebrated as pioneers of bridging hardcore punk, heavy metal, and Southern sludge. Guitarist Woody Weatherman remains the only constant member across a career spanning more than four decades and landmark records including 1991’s Blind, 1994’s Deliverance, and 1996’s Wiseblood.

Following an eight-year gap between studio albums since 2018’s No Cross No Crown, C.O.C. released their 11th studio project, a double album called Good God / Baad Man in April 2026. It’s been described as a sweeping, psychedelic love letter to rock and roll with Black Sabbath-inspired riffs, punk aggression, desert rock soundscapes, and bluesy stoner grooves.

Meanwhile, The Sword, who are widely celebrated for revitalizing the stoner rock and doom metal genres, also with Sabbath-tinged riffs, and fantasy storytelling, was formed in 2003 by vocalist and guitarist J.D. Cronise. After generating massive buzz at Austin’s SXSW festival in 2004, they released 2006’s Age of Winters, which became a retro-metal touchstone fueled by the track “Freya,” later featured in Guitar Hero II.

Despite opening for Metallica on global arena tours and finding chart success with 2012’s Apocryphon, which debuted at No. 17 on the Billboard 200, Cronise announced the band’s breakup in October 2022, stating that he’d creatively accomplished everything he set out to do. That hiatus lasted only about two years, though.

In June 2024, The Sword announced a reunion performance at Austin’s Levitation Festival, and by February 2025, Cronise confirmed the band was officially back.

“We know there’s demand,” Cronise told Revolver about the band’s return. “It’s not a matter of that. … The thing is … nobody really likes what they’re doing more than [being in] The Sword. … I’d much rather go on tour and record music than work at some regular nine-to-five.”

Rep. Jimmy Patronis (R-Fla.) came for Jelly Roll after the country star mocked President Donald Trump during his stint as guest host of Jimmy Kimmel Live!—and Patronis says the singer is no longer welcome in his Florida Panhandle district.

While hosting the show, Jelly Roll joked about his dramatic weight loss by comparing the 300 pounds he had lost to “an entire Donald Trump.”

“And let’s be honest, based on his approval ratings, it seems like most of the country wants to do the same thing,” Jelly Roll said. He also poked fun at Trump’s weight with a joke about physical fitness.

The comments quickly drew backlash from Trump allies, including Patronis, who represents Florida’s 1st Congressional District.

“[Jelly Roll] is 100% not welcomed to Florida’s panhandle,” Patronis wrote on X. “I don’t even want to see his bus on I-10.”

Patronis also questioned Jelly Roll’s country-music credentials, calling him “the token ‘country’ star the libs in California are allowed to enjoy” and adding, “He ain’t country, never was.”

“Take the TDS elsewhere, loser,” Patronis added, referring to “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Jelly Roll addressed the backlash during his final Jimmy Kimmel Live! monologue, pushing back against assumptions about his political beliefs.

The singer joked that he never expected to get into more trouble with Trump than Rosie O’Donnell, who has publicly feuded with the president for years.

“Any U.S. president should be able to handle a few jokes, right?” Jelly Roll said.

He also addressed criticism that appearing on Kimmel’s show meant he had suddenly become a liberal voice.

“It is funny that before this week, everybody thought I was MAGA, and now they think I’m some sort of liberal snowflake,” he said. “I guess I’m just not used to people projecting their beliefs onto me.”

Jelly Roll pointed out that his previous praise of Trump’s plan to host a UFC event on the White House South Lawn did not mean he supported everything the administration does.

“Just because I watched a fight on TV doesn’t mean I support everything this administration does,” he said. “Just like hosting Jimmy Kimmel’s show doesn’t mean I have all of Jimmy Kimmel’s politics.”

The singer described himself as politically “pretty down the middle,” adding that he is a Christian, country singer, farmer and bow hunter.

He said he has spent much of the past several months being judged based on assumptions about his political beliefs.

“For the last six months, I’ve watched people decide who I am, what I am, what I believe, what I support, and what I don’t support,” Jelly Roll said. “And I felt that even more this week, just because I told a couple of jokes.”

Jelly Roll said he had spent his career trying not to belong to a political party and noted that, until recently, he had not even been able to vote.

“I am a man of second chances,” he said, pointing to the opportunity he was given after his criminal conviction. “This country gave me room and a chance to become something more than the biggest and worst mistake I ever made.”

He also pushed back on the idea that his jokes or interactions with political figures should be interpreted as endorsements.

“A joke is not a political point of view,” Jelly Roll said.

He closed by calling for Americans to look beyond their political differences.

“I want us to remember that the person across the street from us is a human being before they’re a voter,” he said.

As White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt steps down from her post to spend more time with her growing family, news broke that the mother of two could become a guest host on The View. 

While Leavitt was invited to join the cast, it was as a guest—and not as a host. After The Daily Mail initially reported that sources had revealed the former Trump administration member was in secret talks with ABC to join Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, another source (from the network) told CNN that the invitation was extended to Leavitt only as a guest. 

Things could get tense if Leavitt appears on The View. But really, when don’t they?

In 2025, Goldberg slammed the then-Press Secretary’s comments about “wokeness,” saying on The View, “She said there will be no wokeness here. Let me explain something to you: because without that wokeness, you might not have that job. Because women were not invited to that table. Women were not invited to many tables in this nation.”

Goldberg continued, “The reason we fought and busted our behinds to make sure that you didn’t have to worry about this…The wokeness was put into place for a reason. Because black people couldn’t get into colleges. Because women could not get into the colleges they wanted to go to. This is all women.”

The View host added, “Women were not invited to this party. It was a man’s world, and we busted our a**es to make sure that this was a person’s world. So please stop using that phrase. Because you don’t understand what you’re saying.”

At age 27, Leavitt became the youngest person in U.S. history to serve as White House Press Secretary. On August 12, Donald Trump announced that she would leave her job, saying on social media, “Our wonderful White House Press Secretary, and one of my most trusted aides, Karoline Leavitt, will be departing her role at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family, a decision I totally understand and respect!”

Leavitt has two children with her husband, Nicholas Riccio: a two-year-old son, Niko, and an infant, Vivi (born May 1, 2026).

She spoke to the press corps on her last day at work, sharing, “It’s very bittersweet. I’ll miss you guys. I know that’s probably not something anyone would expect me to say, but obviously it’s been great working with all of you.” When asked if she has any advice for the next Press Secretary, Leavitt answered, I think it’s most important in this job to understand that President Trump is his own best spokesperson.”

Along with a possible guest appearance on The View and, of course, spending time with her family, Leavitt recently told reporters that she plans to work for super PAC MAGA Inc. this fall.

For college freshmen, move-in day is often one of the most significant days of their lives thus far. This day sets the tone for a student’s four-year college career, and keeping items organized and staying level-headed throughout the move-in process can really help set a freshman up for success.

That said, there are a number of common mistakes that college students make when moving into the dorms.

To learn more, we turned to three professional organizers: Dr. Regina Lark, PhD, a Certified Professional Organizer and the founder and owner of A Clear Path; Christina Keen, the founder and manager of Custom Home Organizing; and Marie Jackson, the founder of Organized Marie.

“A lot of families don’t plan ahead for this major life transition,” Dr. Lark tells Parade. “My company is called by frenzied parents and anxious students who just want to get to the other side of packing, get into the new environment.” However, as all three pro organizers can attest, you can avoid the common move-in day mistakes by planning ahead.

Why College Move-In Is Often Stressful

“Moving is already an incredibly stressful event,” Keen explains to Parade. “To then layer in third-party institutional rules, high emotions, time constraints and severe spatial limitations in the August heat with about 9,000 other people, it’s going to be an intense experience.”

Not to worry, though—Keen says that “with some thoughtful pre-planning and a great attitude this day can be a favorite family memory!”

Plus, moving into a college dorm is “a very big life change,” adds Jackson. “You’re going into an entirely new environment that is smaller than what most college students are used to.”

The 8 Biggest College Move-In Mistakes, According to Professional Organizers 1. Bringing too much stuff

“The more you bring with you, the more it will cost to get it there,” Dr. Lark says. “Also, having a lot of stuff is a lot to track and you’ve got a lot of other things on your mind.”

To avoid this, Dr. Lark recommends a “less is more” mindset. “Bring the bare minimum with you,” she advises. “Pre-arrange with your parent or someone from home who can send what you need if you’re missing a few things.”

2. Buying organizing products in advance

“Dorms are small and every inch matters,” Jackson says. “When you don’t have the right measurements or haven’t seen the space, you show up with bins that may or may not fit. The additional clutter adds more stress.”

To avoid this, she recommends waiting to buy organizing products until you’ve seen the dorm in person, or at least until you’ve obtained a floor plan with measurements.

“The return aisles at the Container Store, IKEA, Target—all the places—are packed and crowded with enough stuff to fill thousands of dorm rooms all around the country,” jokes Dr. Lark. “Seriously, purchase only what you need.” If you do wind up needing more, she recommends looking in secondhand stores.

3. Inadequate planning and research

In Keen’s opinion, the biggest mistake a family can make “is under valuing the pre-planning, or stopping at the university’s recommended checklist.”

As she explains, these provided packing lists “are not a one-size fits all instruction and often leave out key details that can catch a family unaware.” To better prepare, she recommends following the school on social media, reading up about college move-ins online and even consulting with students who recently have lived in dorms for advice.

4. Packing without categories

The only way to have an organized unpacking process is to start with an organized packing process.

“Keep like with like items together to make the unpacking process run much more smoothly,” says Jackson. “It makes it easier to create zones when you arrive. Packing by category also allows you to bring what you only need.”

5. Not organizing your stuff at home before moving out

“Think carefully about how you want to leave your stuff while you go off to college,” advises Dr. Lark. “At some point you’re going to have to deal with it both emotionally and physically. So my best advice is to start decluttering in a big way before you head out the door to your new life.”

This can also be helpful in case you decide you want a family member to mail you items you didn’t pack for move-in day. “Wouldn’t it be easier if the person who’s shipping your stuff knows exactly where to find it and can get it to you quickly?” she says.

6. Hyper-focusing on décor

“We Southern mamas especially love this part when we have a daughter going off to college,” says Keen. “Enjoy the fun of creating a beautiful space, but make sure you really play devil’s advocate for every major item. I promise you, the space can be beautiful and functional at the same time!”

Not only will reducing your focus on décor help make sure your dorm room isn’t too crowded with stuff, but it “will also reduce your logistics the day-of because you will have thought through exactly what purpose each piece will perform,” Keen explains.

7. Not optimizing vertical space

“Dorms are small and ignoring vertical space is wasting prime real estate,” notes Jackson. “Utilize the back of the door with a door organizer, stackable drawer bins that can be placed under the bed and add hooks to the wall to hang up items for quick and easy access.”

8. Not discussing expectations with your family

“Part of what makes college move-in day tough are the contrasting emotional needs and expectations connected to it,” explains Keen. “Moms and dads are processing fear, grief and pride at launching their baby bird, while sons and daughters are managing nerves, fear and a natural desire for independence.”

To help keep all these emotions in check on move-in day, Keen recommends sitting down with your family in advance and discussing the big day. “Walk through the trip from packing to unloading to meals, photos and goodbyes,” she advises. “Listen to learn from each other and identify those needs that speak love to the other person. Verbalizing our expectations organizes the day tremendously by keeping everyone on the same page.”

Pro Organizers Share 5 Other Tips for College Move-In

“There are some easy ways to bring order to this fun, but chaotic, day,” says Keen. Here are a few tips from the pro organizers to keep things running smoothly.

1. Set up systems to encourage less clutter

“I cannot overstate how important it is, and will be to your future, if you can put a lot of thought and effort into how to live with less clutter in your life,” says Dr. Lark. “There’s no one there to pick up after you any longer. The sooner you know how to take care of yourself when it comes to stuff and clutter, that ability will serve you in a variety of ways.”

One way to do this is setting up systems from day one “that are simple and accessible makes it easy to maintain,” says Jackson. “For example, utilize drawer organizers to keep drawers in order. This makes them efficient and creates easy access to pens, highlighters, etc.”

Jackson also recommends “grouping things together by zone,” as this “prevents them from getting lost and keeps the stress level down.” You can create zones for studying, getting ready, laundry and more.

2. Have an ‘unpack first’ box

For “anything that you need to have immediate access to, put that all together in a box so you don’t have to search through it in another box while trying to unpack,” advises Jackson.

This box should include the things you’ll need to use first upon arriving in your dorm, such as cleaning supplies, drawer liners and your mattress protector and bedding.

3. Talk to your roommates about chores

To set yourself up for success in terms of keeping your dorm organized, Dr. Lark recommends “talking to your roommates roommates about how to keep common areas, how dishes will be done and when, who’s responsible for the trash, and when that needs to happen.” If you can work with your roomies on a chore chart or chore schedule soon after moving in, you might prevent a lot of arguments down the road.

4. Order essentials for pick-up from local shops

“I highly recommend placing pick-up orders ahead for items you plan to purchase upon arrival,” says Keen. “This should include some fun snacks and drinks to keep you going for the long day, and a few extra basics like cleaning supplies, Command strips, scissors, etc.”

5. Do move-in day tasks in order of priority

Keen suggests breaking down tasks by priority, and assigning a leader for each task.

“For example, if you are building furniture, unpacking clothes and decorating walls don’t try to do all of that at the same time,” she warns. “It’s a small space and you will end up running over each other and getting frustrated. Tackle the furniture first, and then choose a second and third as makes sense.”

Birthdays have a way of sneaking up on people, but for Kylie Jenner, her 29th arrived with a full inventory of everything she wants to change before 30. In a new cover interview, the Kylie Cosmetics founder describes the past year as an overhaul of how big her life had gotten, and why she decided to shrink it back down.

Jenner spoke about this the same week she threw herself an early “princess kitty” birthday party at her Beverly Hills home, ahead of turning 29 on August 10. She said the milestone has her thinking less about age and more about regret, saying she wants to push herself toward new opportunities before she looks back and wishes she had.

Much of that push traces back to her own upbringing on camera. Jenner has spent nearly two decades in reality television, and she told Who What Wear that the scrutiny left her guarded, describing a life spent protecting herself down to which routes she takes leaving her house. That caution, she said, is something she is actively trying to loosen up on.

One clear sign of that shift came through an unlikely source: a comedic cameo in Charli XCX‘s mockumentary The Moment, which has been singled out as one of the film’s best scenes. Jenner said she called her sister Kim Kardashian for advice before agreeing to do it, then spent days rehearsing lines with friends and eventually canceled plans to work with an acting coach once she felt ready. She has since shot a commercial and is weighing television offers, though she says she has passed on two scripts while waiting for the right fit.

Jenner was also candid about the cost of scaling up too fast in her early 20s, when she bought one of the largest houses she could find in Beverly Hills and built a life to match. Looking back, she said plainly, “I think I lost control of my life a little bit for a while there.” She also said she’ll spend less time on her phone, have more boundaries around what she shares, and her fashion label, Khy, is moving away from splashy collaborations toward what she calls timeless, wardrobe-first pieces, including its first footwear line with Italian label Gia Borghini.

Don’t mistake the changes for her rejecting the work she’s done. Jenner still calls Kylie Cosmetics the thing she cares about most, and she remains as hands-on with her brands as ever. But what has changed is the appetite for constant expansion. As she puts it, the goal now is choosing a few things a year that genuinely scare her, rather than saying yes to everything at once.

A petition to rename Nashville International Airport after Dolly Parton has surged past 132,000 signatures and is still climbing.

The Change.org petition, calling for the airport to be renamed Dolly Parton International Airport, was originally started in January 2025 by Lydia Popovich and Dan Dion, two figures in the Nashville comedy scene, as a counter-proposal to a separate Tennessee Legislature effort to rename the airport for President Donald Trump. The organizers describe the petition as a tribute to the woman widely known as the Queen of Country Music, citing her “outstanding influence in the music industry” and her decades of philanthropic work across Tennessee.

Signatures climbed steadily for months, then spiked dramatically once news of Parton’s death broke. Supporters have flooded the petition’s comment section with tributes of their own. “She was our neighbor,” one supporter wrote, describing Parton as a proud Tennessee girl who was never too big to stop and talk to people.

Not everyone is convinced the honor fits, though. Back in January, when the petition had only about 2,600 signatures, Parton herself weighed in, telling The Tennessean that renaming the airport after her was “probably more of a joke than anything” and that she couldn’t picture it “as an actual thing.” Some have floated other tributes that might better reflect her legacy, pointing to her Imagination Library program, which has mailed more than 100 million free books to children since 1995, as a more fitting namesake than an airport terminal.

Parton’s representatives confirmed she died in Nashville following a brief battle with cancer, about a year and a half after her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, died in March 2025. Dollywood, the theme park she opened in 1986, announced it would remain open in the days following her death, saying she always wanted the show to go on.

Whether officials ever act on the petition remains unclear, but its renewed momentum shows just how far Parton’s influence reached beyond music, into the everyday fabric of the state she never stopped calling home.

King Harald V of Norway died this morning at the age of 89. Until his death he was Europe’s oldest living monarch.

In a statement the Norwegian royal palace said, “It is with deep sadness that we announce that His Majesty King Harald passed away today.

“King Harald passed away peacefully at Oslo University hospital on Friday 28 August 28 at 6.35am.”

The late king was hospitalized last week due to a bacterial blood infection.

He ascended to the throne in 1991 and was a great-great grandchild of the UK’s Queen Victoria.

He and Queen Elizabeth II shared the same great-grandparents, King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, making them second cousins.

Queen Elizabeth’s grandfather King George V was brother to King Harald’s grandmother Queen Maud.

In a statement released on the royal family’s official Instagram account King Charles III said, “It is with the most profound sadness that my wife and I have learnt of the death of my dear cousin.”

He went on, “”For thirty-five years, King Harald served his people with unwavering dedication, guiding Norway through times of great change with warmth and humility.

“”As Norway mourns the loss of so towering a figure, my whole family join in remembering a much-loved kinsman and friend whose kindness, compassion and deep sense of duty echoed from across the sea and across the decades.”

King Harald is succeeded by his 53-year-old son King Haakon, whose wife Queen Mette-Marit has come under harsh criticism recently for her links to the late child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Earlier this year it was revealed that Mette-Marit continued to correspond with Epstein after his conviction.

She subsequently released a statement in which she expressed the “deepest regret for my friendship with Jeffrey Epstein”, and expressed remorse for “the situation that I have put the royal family in, especially the king and queen.”

Her 29-year-old son from a previous relationship, Marius Borg Høiby, was convicted of rape earlier this summer and sentenced to four years in prison.

The death of King Harald means that his 22-year-old granddaughter Princess Ingrid Alexandra is now the Crown Princess and heir to the throne.

She is the first female heir to the Norwegian throne in over 600 years.

The last female monarch in Norway was Ingrid’s ancestor Queen Margaret, who died in 1412.

Norway established absolute primogeniture in 1990 which meant that going forward the oldest child of the monarch, regardless of gender, would inherit the throne.

Until then the country had operated under the system of agnatic (male-only) primogeniture.

Last week the tiny country of Liechtenstein became the latest European monarchy to abandon the system of agnatic primogeniture, opening the doors for future princesses to inherit the throne.

Princess Ingrid is currently studying for a degree in social sciences at the University of Sydney.

Long before Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand‘s duet “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” dominated the Billboard charts, it existed in two completely different worlds.

Diamond had recorded his version as a quiet, somber track for his 1977 album I’m Glad You’re Here with Me Tonight. Streisand delivered her own aching rendition a year later for her Songbird LP.

However, neither music icon had any intention of turning the song into a duet. But when a creative radio DJ decided to play music matchmaker behind Columbia Records’ back, he ignited a pop-culture frenzy that the label couldn’t ignore.

Originally, Diamond wrote the song with Marilyn and Alan Bergman as a TV theme for a Norman Lear project, All That Glitters, reported American Songwriter. However, when the proposed series took a different turn, Diamond recorded the song himself and included it on the ’77 LP. Streisand also loved the song and recorded it, in the same key as Diamond, for her own album.

This element proved crucial to what would happen next. A radio DJ and program director named Gary Guthrie from WAKY Radio in Louisville, Kentucky, heard the similarities in the two versions and spliced them together, according to Stereogum.

Following overwhelming listener interest, other radio stations did the same thing. This response led Columbia Records to get two of their biggest artists in the studio to record an official version of “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers.” It hit the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 1978.

Diamond discussed the song with Mojo Magazine in 2008, as reprinted by Songfacts, “I suggested trying to write a torch song, which is typically a woman singing on-stage about how her man done her wrong, but having sung by a man. Therefore, the title ‘You Don’t Bring Me Flowers,’ which is not something that men really think about but a woman might.”

At the 1980 Grammy Awards, Streisand and Diamond performed the song to close out the ceremony. They received a standing ovation as neither was scheduled to appear.

Their on-screen chemistry felt real, and Streisand received cheers at the song’s end when she tenderly touched her friend’s face. “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” was nominated for Song Of The Year, but lost to Billy Joel’s “Just the Way You Are.”

Ironically, both Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond were classmates at Brooklyn, New York’s Erasmus High School, where they sang in the choir together. Their shared history and convincing vocal chemistry cemented this song in the history books as one of the most beloved love songs of a generation.

Anthrax, the veteran thrash metal band, is bringing their signature high-octane music and explosive stage performance for an intimate show in New York.

Amid their back-to-back performances at Iron Maiden’s Run For Your Lives World Tour and a series of festival appearances, the band, composed of founding and sole constant member Scott Ian on rhythm guitar, Joey Belladonna on lead vocals, Charlie Benante on drums, Frank Bello on bass and Jonathan Donais on lead guitar, will add a headlining concert to their run.

In an Instagram post, Anthrax announced that they will take part in the grand reopening of the legendary Saint Vitus Bar at its new location in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

Scheduled for Sept. 4, the quintet will be the first band to officially headline the new venue.

Anthrax also promised that they will turn the event into a memorable moment with a special performance at the re-opening.

In 1979, John Stewart scored a soft rock hit with “Gold.” Featuring Stevie Nicks on backing vocals and Lindsey Buckingham on guitar, the song from the album Bombs Away Dream Babies became the former Kingston Trio member’s best-known track as a solo artist. Still, Stewart later admitted that he found the track deeply unsatisfying.

Written solely by Stewart, “Gold” paired a radio-friendly ‘70s soft rock sound with a cynical reflection on success and sacrifice in Los Angeles’s music industry. “Driving over Kanan, singing to my soul, there’s people out there turning music into gold,” Stewart sang.

Complemented by Nicks’ unmistakable backing vocals on the chorus at the height of Fleetwood Mac fandom, the song reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 1979.

But Stewart once claimed he wrote “Gold” after being “ordered to have a hit” by RSO Records. “It was totally unsatisfying, because it was a manufactured hit,” he told The Los Angeles Times in 1985.

Stewart was already a successful songwriter, having penned the Monkees hit “Daydream Believer” years before writing “Gold.” But in a backstage interview, he admitted “Gold” felt different—and he ultimately stopped performing it in his shows.

“I did ‘Gold’ for the money,” Stewart said. “And it just was vapid, and it just, it’s not one of my favorite songs I’ve ever done. It was the biggest hit I ever had, and I just don’t do it anymore because it just means nothing to me, you know.“

“I did what a record company wanted me to do, and it happened to work,” Stewart explained. “And I remember when ‘Gold’ came out and it was big, it was No. 5 and the album was No. 10. And I had an article in People magazine and I was doing interviews all over the place and I just sat and cried for two days. It was so empty, you know. I mean, there was People magazine, the picture, Billboard, on the radio. It meant nothing. It absolutely meant nothing.”

Stewart added that he learned a “great lesson” from the experience. “Do what I believe in, don’t go for the money,” he said.

The singer-songwriter died in 2008. And while he didn’t want to be remembered for “Gold,” Stewart always saw the irony in how his biggest hit song came to be.

“I took ‘Gold’ to [record producer] Al Coury. It was the first song I took to him after he said, ‘You have got to get me a hit,’” Stewart once said.  “I wrote a song about trying to write a hit song that turned out to be a hit song.”

The NFL is bringing one of Afrobeats’ biggest stars to its international stage.

The league has announced that Ayra Starr will headline the halftime show during the 2026 NFL London Game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The game will take place on Oct. 11 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET.

The announcement was also shared by the NFL on Instagram. 

Fans quickly reacted to the news, with many celebrating the singer’s latest major performance. 

“Authentic star girl 💫 💜💜💜💜,” one fan wrote. 

Another said, “This is huge 🙌 I’m super proud of my girl ❤️.”

The announcement also sparked some playful reactions. “Oh man! I thought for a second it was the Super bowl Half time! 😂😂😂” one person commented.

Other fans were already looking ahead to the London show. “See you in London starrgirl 💜,” one comment read, while another joked, “Oh that is awesome girl bring Zayn 😂.”

The performance will put the Nigerian singer-songwriter in front of NFL fans during one of the league’s biggest international events. 

According to Billboard, Starr is the first Afrobeats star selected to perform at an NFL International Game halftime show.

The performances, presented by American Express, will take place across seven countries and four continents as the league plays its largest number of international games in a single season.

“I am so excited to perform at the NFL halftime show in London,” Starr said, per NFL. “London is one of my favorite places in the world and to bring Starrgirl to the NFL global stage is a dream come true for me. I can’t wait to see you guys there!”e

The NFL halftime performance comes shortly after the release of Starr’s third studio album, Starrgirl, which arrived on Aug. 14 through Mavin Records and Republic Records.

The album includes collaborations with ZAYN, Leon Thomas and Wizkid. Starrgirl also reached No. 4 on Billboard‘s World Albums chart.

Starr has become one of the leading young voices in Afrobeats and global pop since making her debut in 2021. The NFL said she has earned more than seven billion global streams and one billion YouTube views.

She is also a two-time GRAMMY nominee for Best African Music Performance and a BET Award winner for Best International Act. Starr has also performed on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival.

Born Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, the singer is professionally known as Ayra Starr. She first gained major attention with songs including “Away,” “Bloody Samaritan” and “Rush.”

“Rush” helped expand her audience and earned her a Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance. Her music career has since included international tours, festival appearances and collaborations with artists from different parts of the music industry.

It’s not uncommon for interior design buffs to update their homes each season. So, with crunchy leaves already around the corner, I got to wondering what home decor is going to be popular this fall.

And no, I don’t mean what jack-o’-lantern carvings are going to be on stoops—I mean what autumnal colors people are going to be using to decorate their homes.

To find out, I turned to three interior designers: Christina Cruz, Owner and Principal Designer of Christina Cruz Interiors in Austin, Andrea DeRosa, co-founder of Avenue Interior Design in Los Angeles, and Olga Naiman, founder of design studio Spatial Alchemy and the author of the book Spatial Alchemy.

All three designers agree on one color they foresee making a major splash in home decor this fall—a gorgeous, rich shade that’s simultaneously a neutral and a jewel tone. “It brings warmth and personality to a space while still feeling timeless,” Cruz tells Parade.

Below, the designers share why they love this color so much for fall, how to incorporate it into your home and a few other hues you can expect to see popping in homes this autumn.

Why Designers Say Deep Plum Will Be Everywhere This Fall

The color that Cruz, DeRosa and Naiman think people will be using in their homes this fall is deep plum—a dark shade of purple with traces of red and brown.

“This fall, I think we’re going to see deep plum make a major return to interiors,” Cruz tells Parade. Here are three reasons these designers love deep plum for fall.

1. Deep plum is a more playful choice than autumnal browns.

“It has the richness and warmth we naturally crave as the seasons change,” Cruz says of deep plum, “but it feels a little more unexpected than the browns and burgundies we typically associate with fall.”

DeRosa echoes this sentiment, explaining that “deep plum feels especially right for fall because it brings the richness we naturally gravitate toward as the seasons change, but with a little more personality than traditional burgundy or chocolate brown.”

2. Deep plum can serve as a neutral—and it nicely complements other neutrals.

Deep plum has the unique ability to “almost behave like a neutral when it’s used in a deeper, muddier tone,” according to Cruz, and it can give “a room depth without making it feel overly colorful.”

The hue also compliments a variety of organic materials, such as walnut, marble and unlacquered brass, per Cruz, while DeRosa adds that deep plum looks fantastic alongside warm neutrals, natural woods and aged metals.

“We’re seeing people become much more confident about bringing color back into their homes,” Cruz adds, “and plum is a wonderful next step because it feels both dramatic and incredibly livable.”

“It’s dramatic enough to make an impact, yet its muted, earthy undertones keep it from feeling too bold or trendy,” DeRosa says. “We are collectively finished with the beige years, but people are not reaching for bright color,” adds Naiman.

3. Deep plum can make a space feel calm and cozy.

Naiman actually recently painted her pantry a shade of deep plum: Purple Brown by Little Greene.

“What struck me is how safe the room feels to stand in,” she says about her pantry. “At a time when so much outside the house feels chaotic, people want rooms that make them feel contained, rooted and grounded, and deep plum does that in a way a brighter color cannot.”

DeRosa adds that when used as an accent color, deep plum can “add depth and a coziness to a room.”

How to Decorate Your House Using Deep Plum

Here are a few of the designers’ favorite ways to incorporate deep plum into home design.

1. Color-drench a small room.

“A powder room, library or cocktail room is the perfect place to fully embrace deep plum,” says Cruz. “Carrying the color across the walls, trim and even cabinetry creates an immersive, cocooning feeling that can completely transform a smaller space.”

Naiman also recommends saturating a small room’s “walls, trim and ceiling all in the same plum,” such as a study, back hallway or stairwell. “Small rooms are where people are most afraid of dark color and where dark color actually performs best,” she says.

2. Utilize deep plum upholstery.

All three designers are fans of embracing deep plum upholstery (ideally in velvet!), whether it’s a headboard, chair, pillow, throw blanket or rug.

“If you’re not ready to commit to plum furniture or paint, textiles are an easy way to experiment with the color,” explains DeRosa. This can help give a “neutral room more depth and these pieces can easily be swapped out as your taste changes.”

Cruz suggests a headboard or chair in deep plum, alongside an earthy color palette. “It gives you that beautiful saturated moment without requiring the entire room to revolve around the color, and it looks especially beautiful paired with walnut, olive green and warm stone,” she says.

Naiman agrees, noting that just one deep plum accent piece of furniture “will hold a room for years in a way a trend color will not.”

3. Introduce deep plum lighting fixtures.

A lamp with a deep plum shade or base “is one of the chicest ways to use the color and one of the easiest,” says Naiman. “The light coming through a plum shade is warm rather than white, so it changes the whole feel of a room at night without your having to commit to anything permanent.”

Designers Say These Colors Will Also Dominate Homes This Fall 1. Chocolate brown

“Painting a room chocolate brown will change its whole flavor, and it works especially well if the anchor pieces you already own are neutral,” says Naiman. “You do not have to replace anything. The walls do the work and the furniture you have suddenly reads differently.”

2. Olive

All three designers point to olive as a prominent color for this autumn. “Olive is one of those colors that almost functions as a neutral, which is why I think it has so much staying power,” says Cruz.

“Olive functions as a neutral in its own right, which is why it sits so easily next to other neutrals,” adds Naiman. “It gives you the depth of a real color without asking you to build a whole scheme around it.”

DeRosa is specifically a fan of “dusty” olive, which “has the earthy quality we love about green but its muted undertones make it feel warmer and more sophisticated for fall.”

3. Burnt ochre

“Burnt ochre has become a major color in interiors,” says Cruz. “It has that beautiful golden warmth we associate with fall, but in a more earthy, sophisticated way.”

Similarly, warm caramel is on DeRosa’s list for fall. She notes that the shade “introduces a soft autumn palette that still allows for versatility” and “can transition through most seasons effortlessly.”

4. Mustard

Earthy shades of yellow, such as mustard, are “yellow without the aggression, without the in-your-face quality that keeps people away from the color,” says Naiman. “That makes them usable in rooms where a brighter yellow would be exhausting to live with.”
