1983 Smash Hit Ranked Among ‘Best Dance Movies of All Time’

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 2:25pm

On this day in 1983, one of the best movie soundtracks dropped, signaling the release of one of the best dance films of all time

Four days later, the world met Alex Owens, played by the magnificent Jennifer Beals, a Yale student at the time who told The Guardian in 2022 that she deferred her schooling for the role because she was in pursuit of pure joy.

“I didn’t even feel like I wanted control or impact,” she said, “I wanted joy, full stop. It was completely pleasure principle: ‘This is fun. I enjoy this. And I can feel myself expanding -- it’s really exciting and totally terrifying.’”

The film, directed by English creative force Adrian Lyne (Unfaithful, Fatal Attraction), follows Beals' 18-year-old dreamer whose days are spent in a steel mill and nights spent tearing up the dance floor, trying to prove that dreams can pirouette their way out of a hard hat and into the spotlight.

The film reached No. 1 at the box office in its second weekend of release and stayed at the top for three weeks, per Box Office Mojo. Making more than $92 million on a $7.5 million budget, it was certainly a huge success with fans. Critics, however, were a bit harsh, calling the film flat in narrative but dynamic in its dance sequences and Beals’ performance.

The soundtrack is a story all its own. An absolute hit, the record, produced by Giorgio Moroder, is widely considered one of the best and most influential albums of all time, selling 20 million copies worldwide and winning multiple awards, including an Oscar for Best Original Song for “Flashdance … What a Feeling.” The film was nominated for three others.

According to Billboard, the soundtrack spent 25 weeks on the Billboard 200, spending two weeks at No. 1 and bumping Michael Jackson’s lengthy Thriller run from the top spot. The soundtrack’s title single by Irena Cara spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and scored Cara a Grammy. “Maniac,” by Michael Sembello, also hit No. 1 on the Hot 100, enjoying 22 weeks on the chart and two at the top spot in September 1983.

The ultimate ’80s underdog tale, the film captured the zeitgeist of the time beyond just its song and dance, with sweatshirt sales soaring after the film’s release, per People, and leg warmers and ripped rehearsal gear launching into mainstream fashion as symbols of ambition and self-invention. Flashdance was an era-defining film and one that definitely deserves a revisit.

Flashdance is streaming on Prime Video.

1973 Rock Classic Was Just Ranked the Best Album of the '70s

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 2:09pm

The 1970s are known for the strides made in music. Even though there are so many incredible albums that were released during the decade, Collidermanaged to narrow down the top 10 best albums from the '70s.

The list, published on April 10, featured beloved records like Nick Drake's Pink Moon from 1972, Blondie's Parallel Lines, released in 1978,Joni Mitchell's 1978 masterpiece Blue, Led Zeppelin's Led Zeppelin IV, from 1971, and Stevie Wonder's 1976 album, Songs in the Key of Life.

Collider named Pink Floyd's 1973 acclaimed and influential album, The Dark Side of the Moon, as the top '70s record. The publication reported that The Dark Side of the Moon secured the number one ranking because of its deep, dark themes relating to mental health.

Roger Waters Explained Why He Believed the 1973 Pink Floyd Record Remained So Beloved in 1993

During a 1993 interview, Pink Floyd's former lead singer, Roger Waters, explained why he believed The Dark Side of the Moon remained relevant since its release.

"I think there are a number of factors. One is that it it very quickly became an album that people wanted in their collections and successive generations have discovered it," said Waters during the interview. "It has a universal appeal in that the album is about the potential that all human beings have for making something positive out of their lives, if they so choose."

He then explained that he believed the band's eighth studio album is "a record of hope." The singer, now 82, said that the record represents trying to find happiness amid darkness and doubts.

"We're born and we're all subject to the pressures that our particular bit of history throws at us. in our case is the main pressure that's brought upon us, in my view, is a kind of free market gone crazy," said Waters in the 1993 interview. "And if we can make some sense of that then, we certainly in the West, have the potential to lead, I don't know what we could call happy lives and to contribute something to the world. But it seems that often overtaken by dark forces and we don't achieve our full potential. And that's kind of what the record's about."

1972 Hit Ranked Among 'Greatest Songs of All Time' Became a Summer Rock Anthem

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 2:00pm

Few songs have captured the rebellious thrill of summer like a specific 1972 hit by Alice Cooper. Bursting onto the scene with hard-rock energy and an unforgettable chorus, it's still hailed as one of the “greatest songs of all time," and a timeless rock classic that continues to define the season.

Part of Rolling Stone's extensive list of the greatest songs ever released includes "School's Out," which was the title track for Alice Cooper's fifth studio album. Released in late April 1976, it became known as their signature song, reaching No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The hard rock hit is iconic thanks to its catchy beat, title, and overall chorus that includes a group of children.

"Alice Cooper’s summer 1972 hit was a precursor of both punk rock and Jock Jams, adding a kiddie chorus for a perverse, Children of the Corn effect. And the riff is so much a part of rock history that after guitarist Glen Buxton died in 1997, his friends and fans created a headstone with the musical notation of his four-bar “School’s Out” riff," said Rolling Stone.

The rock icon once detailed having come up with the song's lyrics when asking the question: "What's the greatest three minutes of your life?" The response instantly hit a sense of nostalgia with the answers being Christmas morning as a child, and the feeling of waiting for the final school bell to ring, signaling the start of summer vacation.

In an interview with People, Cooper explained, "At the same time, everybody hated school. We thought, if you can capture the last three minutes of the last day of school before summer vacation, that would be a joyous song."

Related: 2001 Chart-Topper Ranked Among ‘Greatest Mainstream Rock Songs of All Time’ Became a Signature Track

"School's Out" became their first major hit single and propelled the album to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 pop album charts. Despite its popularity, some radio stations banned playing the song, believing it promoted rebellion against school education among children. Its lyrics even refer to the school being blown up and being gone for good, and the children's lines include "and we got no innocence."

Regardless, the track became a rock staple that brought up the right feelings of the freedom of summer vacation. "School's Out" has since been used in pop culture, like the 1979 comedy film Rock 'n' Roll High School, 1993's Dazed and Confused, and the horror cult classic Scream. Singer John Lydon was also reported to have auditioned for Sex Pistols, belting out the track in a London pub.

Kelly Ripa's Youngest Son Just Made His Broadway Debut in a Legendary Arthur Miller Play and His Dad's Reaction Says It All

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 1:42pm

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos had quite the family night out on Wednesday, but this time it wasn't for a red carpet or a Live taping.

The couple was in the audience at the Winter Garden Theatre to watch their youngest son Joaquin Consuelos make his official Broadway debut in the revival of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman.

Joaquin, 23, plays young Biff in the critically acclaimed production, which also stars Nathan Lane as Willy Loman and Laurie Metcalf as Linda Loman. And if you're wondering how his parents handled the moment, well, one of them didn't exactly keep it together.

Mark Consuelos Couldn't Wait or Stop Crying

Here's the thing: Joaquin specifically told his mom to "wait 'til opening night" to see the show, and Ripa respected his wishes. She even left town during preview performances to resist the temptation.

Consuelos? Not so much. He grabbed a last-minute ticket to a preview showing and was overwhelmed by what he saw.

"I was watching him with a smile on my face and cried," Consuelos recalled. A woman sitting nearby even turned to him and said, "Mazel tov, your son was amazing!"

A Proud Family Moment After a Tough Year

The opening night celebration comes during what has been an emotional stretch for the Consuelos family. Mark's father Saul Consuelos passed away in late March, making this milestone even more meaningful.

After the show, the family celebrated at the cast after-party at Katz's Delicatessen, with both Kelly and Mark sporting matching black attire for the occasion. Ripa shared "opening night vibes" on her Instagram Stories alongside a photo of the playbill, while Consuelos posted a heartwarming shot of himself and Joaquin in matching black blazers.

What's Next for Joaquin

The youngest of the couple's three children (older siblings Michael is 28 and Lola is 24), Joaquin is a graduate of the University of Michigan's School of Music, Theatre & Dance. He previously appeared in Hulu's Foster Dade pilot.

The Death of a Salesman revival, directed by Joe Mantello and also starring Christopher Abbott as Biff and Ben Ahlers as Happy, has been extended through Aug. 9 and earned an 83 percent average critical rating including a New York Times Critic's Pick.

Why a 2002 Sci-Fi Show Just Beat 'Schitt's Creek' and 'Parks and Rec' to Hit No. 1 on Apple TV

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 1:40pm

A show Fox canceled after 14 episodes is currently outperforming series with active fan bases, ongoing merchandise, and far more recent air dates. And there's a specific reason it's happening right now.

As of April 8, Firefly sat at No. 1 on the Apple TV Store's Top 10 TV shows in the United States, per FlixPatrol, ranking above The Chosen, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, Parks and Recreation, Frasier, Schitt's Creek, and Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, among others. Some of those titles have devoted followings of their own. None of them aired in 2002.

The climb didn't start with the No. 1 ranking. In early March, before any official announcement, Firefly had already reentered Amazon's digital streaming charts at No. 18 on their Top 25 TV Shows in the United States and sat at No. 15 on the Apple TV store simultaneously, all while remaining available to Hulu subscribers at no extra cost. People were paying to watch something they could watch for free.

By mid-March, renewed demand had pushed it to No. 3 on Amazon Prime Video and No. 7 on the Apple TV store, while also landing within the top 10 in international markets including the UK and Germany. FlixPatrol data shows it competing directly against recent hits and several Taylor Sheridan shows on Apple TV's PVOD service, the kind of company a 24-year-old single-season series rarely keeps.

The catalyst for all of it was Nathan Fillion's announcement at Awesome Con in Washington, D.C. that an animated Firefly reboot is in early development at 20th Television Animation, produced through his banner Collision33. Married showrunners Tara Butters (Agent Carter, Dollhouse) and Marc Guggenheim (Arrow, The Flash) are attached, a script is already completed, and Oscar- and Emmy-winning animation studio ShadowMachine is handling the visuals.

Related: Firefly's Revival Was Hiding in an Alan Tudyk Podcast 8 Months Before Fillion Knocked on a Single Door

The series would be set in the timeline between the original 2002 run and the 2005 film Serenity, with the full original cast expected to voice their characters. As Alan Tudyk explained at the panel,'Because of our schedules and availability the only way to get it done is if we animated it.'

The project still needs a network or streaming home. The cast has openly asked fans to like, comment, and repost news of the announcement, requesting 'quantifiable analytics' to present to potential buyers. Fillion has encouraged fans to pitch in as the proposed animated series still needs to find a home. There’s a rapidly growing grassroots fan push to organize a variety of ways to help.

What's already on the scoreboard is a 24-year-old show beating Schitt's Creek and Parks and Rec in the same week, and that makes a fairly shiny opening argument.

Firefly is currently streaming on Hulu.

We Asked 3 Dietitians What the Best Dinner Is for Weight Loss and They All Said the Same Thing

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 1:25pm

If you're trying to lose weight, you may dread when the dinner bell rings. You want to choose something healthy but may be exhausted. Plus, you may think you need to heavily restrict your food choices to drop pounds, leaving you feeling unsatisfied by bland food and a still-empty stomach. But registered dietitians have a more positive outlook on dinner.

"Dinner tends to be the meal most of us have at home or have more control over compared to breakfast or lunches, which may be eaten in the workplace or at school," says Destini Moody, RD, CSSD, LD, a registered dietitian at VNutrition.

That control is empowering, as long as you know how to choose a balanced dinner that supports your weight management needs, especially given that it's your "grand finale" meal before you close the kitchen.

"What we eat and when we eat impacts our metabolism and susceptibility to weight gain. When we eat dinner later in the evening, it interferes with our natural circadian rhythm and the hormonal changes that take place at this time," states Sara Riehm, RD, LD/N, CSOWM, a registered dietitian and certified specialist in obesity and weight management.

Some studies suggest that eating too late in the day can contribute to weight gain and obesity risks. There's no perfect time to eat dinner to prevent weight gain, but the RDs Parade spoke with said anywhere from 2 to 4 hours before bed tends to be people's sweet spot. What's for dinner, though? RDs dished on the best dinner for weight loss.

The Best Dinner for Weight Loss, 3 RDs Agree

Olga Mazyarkina/Getty Images

Registered dietitians agree that baked salmon with quinoa and asparagus is a great dinner for weight loss. "Baked salmon is a strong option because it provides high-quality protein and omega-3 fatty acids," says Dr. Chris Mohr, Ph.D., RD, a fitness and nutrition advisor for Garage Gym Reviews. "Quinoa works well at dinner because it contains both complex carbohydrates and some protein. Asparagus is a low-calorie vegetable that provides fiber, folate and antioxidants."

Let's dig into the (delicious) details on how each food in this dinner can support weight loss.

1. Baked salmon

Riehm shares that nutrient-dense salmon is an "excellent choice for someone" on a weight loss journey.

"Not only is it high in protein, but it’s also high in healthy fats," she says. "These two elements help improve satiety, which means you’ll feel full and satisfied from your meal."

Riehm adds that healthy fats and protein are digested more slowly, which can also help with blood sugar management. Just be mindful that salmon contains some mercury, so it's generally best to stick to about 2 servings per week.

2. Quinoa

Quinoa is a gluten-free seed that people often consume as a starch. "All quinoa is a great source of all nine essential amino acids—hard to find in a vegan protein source—and is a whole grain, which makes it a powerhouse for antioxidants and fiber," Moody states.

If you're shopping for quinoa, you may notice you have tons of options—red, white, black, tri-color. What's best?

"While types of quinoa are comparable in their nutritional value, red quinoa has a slightly higher antioxidant content," she reveals.

3. Asparagus

It peaks in April, but some people (this writer included) think it's fabulous year-round.

"Asparagus, like quinoa, comes in three colors–purple, white, and green," Riehm explains. "Similarly, all three colors have near-identical nutrient profiles but different phytochemicals and different flavor profiles. For example, white asparagus is more tender and sweet than green asparagus."

However, Riehm shares that any color of asparagus will provide you with vitamin K, folate and fiber.

Still, Riehm shares that all fiber contains vitamin K, folate and fiber. Speaking of fiber, Dr. Mohr reminds us that it helps with "fullness and digestive health, which can support weight management over time."

Vegetarian Alternatives to Salmon

If you don't eat any animal protein, you can still reap the benefits of asparagus and quinoa along your weight loss journey. Plus, you can swap salmon for a plant-based protein.

"A good alternative is tofu, tempeh or lentils," Dr. Mohr explains. "These foods provide plant-based protein and fiber, which support fullness and blood sugar stability. Lentils and tempeh also contain iron and other micronutrients that contribute to overall metabolic health."

Moody shares that you can also mix in nuts and seeds. "Flaxseeds and walnuts also contain omega-3 fatty acids," she says. "However, whether the fat is healthy or unhealthy, it can be high in calories, so always portion wisely."

How To Keep This Dinner (And Others) Weight-Loss Friendly

Salmon, quinoa and asparagus make an excellent dinner for weight loss—ditto if you replace the salmon with a plant-based option, like tofu. Still, it's important to avoid some pitfalls when preparing and serving meals, especially if you are trying to lose weight.

For starters, registered dietitians say it's crucial to be mindful of portions, especially when you're consuming foods high in healthy fats.

"When compared to other types of seafood like tilapia and salmon can be significantly higher in calories due to its high fat content," Moody says. "It’s worth noting that the fat in salmon is an anti-inflammatory fat called omega-3s, which is very healthy for our hearts and brains. That said, you want to keep your portions small if you are trying to manage weight."

Dietary advice has changed recently, but Riehm still likes the MyPlate model that replaced the Food Pyramid in 2011. "Make one quarter of your plate protein, one quarter grains, and you can use the rest of your plate—the remaining half—for vegetables," she says. "In this case, this would mean that we’d have about 3 to 4 ounces of salmon—about the size of your palm—about one cup of cooked quinoa, and several long stalks of asparagus."

How you make the food is as important as how you plate it.

"Baking, grilling, roasting or steaming are generally better choices than frying because they limit excess fat and calories," Dr. Mohr explains. "Paying attention to sauces and added oils can also prevent hidden calories from accumulating."

Hallmark Star Who Got Her Start on ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Separates From Her Husband

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 12:47pm

37-year-old Janel Parrish has starred in close to a dozen Hallmark movies. They include Coyote Creek Christmas, Christmas on Duty, Return to Office, and Two For Tee. However, her personal life has recently been making headlines.

View this post on Instagram

According to TMZ, Parrish and her husband Chris Long have separated after seven years of marriage. The couple started dating in September 2016 and got engaged the next year. In 2018, they held their wedding ceremony at the Kualoa Ranche on Oahu, Hawaii. Parrish’s former costar from Pretty Little Liars, Brendan Robinson, and showrunner I. Marlene King both attended the ceremony.

Parrish is an actress and a singer who came in third place on The Masked Singer. She also appeared on Dancing with the Stars in 2014 where she was partnered with Val Chmerkovskiy. The pair made it to finale night, coming in at third place.

In addition to her Hallmark movies, Parrish also appeared in To All The Boys I've Loved Before, Heroes, Zoey 101, and The O.C. However, her breakout role was playing Mona Vanderwaal on Pretty Little Liars and its spin-off, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.

When speaking to Pop-Culturalist about her newest Hallmark movie, Two For Tee, which follows “a Chinese American pottery artist who meets a new community center handyman,” she discussed the importance of representation and how nice it was to play a character who “already felt like her.”

She stated, “That’s what’s so beautiful about representation and having the platform to tell these stories. When people come up to me and say, ‘Thank you—Bratz was the first movie I saw where you played Jade, and seeing an Asian Bratz doll meant so much to me,’ or ‘Thank you for To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, it’s amazing to see that kind of representation on screen,’—there’s nothing better than that. It makes me feel so happy and fulfilled, because representation is so important. Growing up, I didn’t see a lot of it. So anytime I get to do what I love and also be part of that representation for others, I feel very lucky and grateful.”

Coachella Attendees' Campsites Destroyed After Unexpected Weather — See the Shocking Videos

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 12:36pm

Coachella's opening weekend got off to a rocky start—and not because of anything happening on stage.

Strong winds tore through the festival grounds the night of Friday, April 10, destroying campsites and sending tents, canopies, and personal belongings flying, with videos of the destruction spreading rapidly across social media.

The South Coast Air Quality Monitoring District had already issued an air quality alert for the Coachella Valley ahead of the weekend due to windblown dust pollution. Meteorologists warned that wind gusts of up to 35 miles per hour were expected Friday and Saturday, strong enough to kick up large particulate matter pollution (known as PM10) and trigger serious health concerns.

The National Weather Service cautioned that "particle pollution can get deep into the lungs and cause serious health problems such as asthma attacks, heart and lung disease symptoms, and increased risk of lung infections.”

The strongest gusts hit during the afternoon and evening hours Friday night, right as the festival was getting underway and after headliner Sabrina Carpenter’s performance.

“Damn I thought this was fyre festival,” one fan joked on a viral Instagram video of the destruction.

One festival goer commented, “It’s bad!!!! We lost 1 but luckily I helped a few settle up for the night till tomorrow.”

“my friends window on his car got broken because the people behind him had their tent fly away…,” a third shared.

The winds ultimately caused more than just campsite chaos. Anyma, the Italian American DJ who makes up one-half of the EDM duo Tale of Us, was set to perform on the main stage at midnight, approximately 90 minutes after Carpenter's headlining set. But at 12:17 a.m., the festival notified attendees of a "schedule update."

"Due to strong wind conditions affecting Anyma's stage build, he is unable to perform tonight," the statement read, per Variety. "Coachella and Anyma have made this decision together with your safety as the priority."

So for festivalgoers heading into weekend two, it might be worth packing a little more than just a flower crown.

43 Years Ago, '80s Legend Won His First Best Actor Award at the Oscars

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 12:00pm

Decades before cementing his name in Hollywood as one of the screen legends, Ben Kingsley scored a career-defining milestone after taking home a notable Oscar win.

With a career spanning over four decades, the British actor has left a lasting mark on the entertainment scene, earning a reputation for his remarkable versatility and range in acting, portraying powerful performances in iconic films like Schindler's List, Sexy Beast, Iron Man 3, and more.

Among his notable works was starring in the titular role in the 1982 movie Gandhi.

Kingsley, who was in his late 30s at the time, impressed viewers with his perfect portrayal of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also known as Mahatma Gandhi, the prominent Indian leader who is considered the country’s Father of the Nation in the post-colonial era.

Directed by Richard Attenborough, the actor not only delivered exceptional acting but also went on an unrecognizable physical transformation and lost around 7 kg to perfectly embody the striking resemblance of the real Gandhi.

His performance earned him multiple recognitions, including an Oscar nod.

Forty-three years ago today, Kingsley celebrated winning Best Actor at the 55th Academy Awards.

On April 11, 1983, the Scarborough native took the stage to accept the major recognition for his role in Gandhi, beating fellow nominees such as Dustin Hoffman (Tootsie), Jack Lemmon (Missing), Paul Newman (The Verdict) and Peter O'Toole (My Favorite Year).

Presented by John Travolta, Kingsley delivered a humble yet powerful speech, acknowledging the "vision and courage" behind the movie.

Moreover, he also admitted being deeply “overwhelmed” and grateful “to be mentioned in the same breath” as his fellow nominees.

“This film was dedicated to Pandit Nehru, Lord Mountbatten of Burma, and Motilal Kothari, all men of great vision and courage,” he added, as he concluded his speech. “It was made by my friend Sir Richard Attenborough, another great man of vision and courage. And for all the men and women who worked on the film, this is an Oscar for vision, for courage, and for acting and for peace. Thank you.”

Besides his first Best Actor award at the Oscars, Kingsley also won in the same category at the Golden Globe Awards in 1983, as well as taking home Best Actor in a Leading Role at the BAFTA Awards the same year.

Michael J. Fox Shares Blunt 2-Word Message With Fans After Death Hoax

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 11:59am

Just a few days after a death hoax surrounding Michael J. Fox consumed social media, the beloved actor shared a blunt message with his fans.

On Friday, April 10, Fox shared an Instagram photo posing with boxing legend Freddie Roach with a bold two word caption. “F*ck Parkinson’s,” Fox wrote alongside the photo, which showed him and Roach smiling at the camera while bumping fists.

And fans loved the strong message.

“It’s been amazing to watch you punch the hell out of Parkinson’s for so many years,” one noted in the comments.

Another stated, “You are the real fighter Michael!!”

“My father passed from Parkinsons/Lewy Body almost 3 years ago. I am forever rooting for you,” a third shared.

Roach chimed in, writing, “I’m with @realmikejfox - F**k Parkinson’s.”

View this post on Instagram

While Fox is a well known advocate for the disease—one he has been diagnosed with since 29—the message landed a little harder than usual as it came off the heels of a shocking death hoax rumor that sent the internet into a meltdown.

TMZ reported on April 8 that the rumor originated after CNN shared an article titled “Remembering the life of actor Michael J. Fox,” which understandably sent the wrong message. The outlet issued a statement to Parade saying that “The package was published in error; we have removed it from our platforms and send our apologies to Michael J. Fox and his family.”

READ MORE: Michael J. Fox Reflects on ‘Drinking A Lot’ and the ‘Tailspin’ That Followed Parkinson’s Diagnosis

The Back to the Future star had a good sense of humor about the whole ordeal, however. In a post on Threads later that same day, Fox asked his fans a multiple choice question: “How do you react when you turn on the TV and CNN is reporting your death? Do you…A) switch to MNSBC, or whatever they are calling themselves these days, (B) Pour scolding hot water on your lap, if it hurts your fine, (C) Call your wife, hopefully she’s concerned but reassuring, (D) Relax, they do this once every year, (E) Ask yourself wtf ? I thought the world was ending, but apparently it’s just me and I’m ok. Love, Mike.”

After initially being diagnosed in 1991, Fox kept his Parkinson’s diagnosis to himself for many years, finally going public in 1998. Despite the mobility limitations, Fox was able to keep working and acting up until he retired in 2020.

This 'Below Average' Film Is Still Ranked as a Fan-Favorite Movie

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 11:50am

No matter how much movie critics can't get behind the Twilightmovies, fans still seem to love them.

2008's Twilight, the first movie in the five-film series based on the booksStephanie Meyer, is a cultural juggernaut, with a cult following that appears unbothered by the movie's lack of critical acclaim.

In fact, many Twilight fans seem to agree that the film isn't necessarily a five-star watch, with its average Letterboxd rating sitting at 3.0/5 stars. According to the movie-rating platform, Twilight is classified as a "below average" movie, (Letterboxd defines an "average" film as having 3.44 stars or higher), but that doesn't mean it isn't still a fan favorite.

On the official Letterboxd list of the Top 100 Below Average Films with the Most Fans, Twilight is ranked at No. 1.

Letterboxd defines "fans" as users who have selected a particular film as one of their four favorite films on their profile, meaning that despite its below-average rating, Twilight is still consistently added to profiles as a favorite film.

View this post on Instagram

For fans of the gloomy, vampire-centered film directed by Catherine Hardwicke, Twilight is a staples of 2000s romantic fantasy. Starring Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan opposite Robert Pattinson's Edward Cullen and Taylor Lautner's Jacob Black, Twilight was pop culture phenomenon and a massive box office success.

According to Box Office Mojo, the first Twilight movie grossed over $192 million, a number that would only continue to grow with the other four installments of the series. (The highest gross box office earnings came from the third film, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which did over $300 million).

While Twilight certainly didn't earn anyone any Oscars, it did skyrocket many of the cast members to fame, especially the principal trio. It also helped boost the careers of stars like Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone and even Anna Kendrick.

Legendary 79-Year-Old Actress Made A Cameo In Sabrina Carpenter’s Coachella Set

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 11:39am

Sabrina Carpenter was the first headliner at Coachella during its opening weekend on April 10. The last time she performed at the massive California music festival, back in 2024, she told the crowd she would “see you back here when I headline.”

Now that she has returned to fulfill her promise, she told the crowd, “I can’t believe I’m headlining Coachella. I mean, I can a little bit, but it’s nicer to say that, right?”

The set was filled with the 26-year-old’s hit songs, like "Espresso" and "Please Please Please." There were also several cameos throughout the night that shocked the crowd. One of the most memorable appearances was from iconic actress, Susan Sarandon.

— sebastián (@lovingcmila) April 11, 2026

Sarandon is known for her classic roles in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Thelma & Louise, and Dead Man Walking, which won her the Academy Award for Best Actress. She also appeared on Broadway several times and made cameos on hit shows like Friends and Malcolm in the Middle.

During Coachella, Sarandon delivered a dramatic monologue in the middle of Carpenter’s set. She played an older version of the singer and spoke about what it was like to be a star during her glory days. The performance, which lasted nearly seven minutes, was delivered while the actress was sitting in a vintage car with her blonde hair styled to resemble the singer.

“Aunt Sabrina is happy, but she doesn’t smile,” she said at one point in the monologue, which ultimately ended when Corey Fogelmanis, Carpenter's former Girl Meets World costar, appeared.

Sarandon was not the only surprise guest during Carpenter’s set. Throughout her performance, there were also cameos by Will Ferrell who played an electrician, Samuel L. Jackson who performed a voiceover, and Sam Elliott who portrayed a cop during her cinematic, black-and-white intro. Carpenter also referenced a few iconic films throughout her set, like Chicago, Dirty Dancing, The Wizard of Oz, Psycho, and Snakes on a Plane.

Carpenter had promised in an interview that her Coachella set would be "the most ambitious show I've ever done," and many fans believe she fulfilled that promise.

Melissa McCarthy is looking better than ever these days.

The beloved actress, 55, who worked her way into our hearts as Sookie on Gilmore Girls, became a comedy legend with roles in films like Bridesmaids, The Heat, Spy, and St. Vincent. Her role on Mike & Molly earned her critical acclaim and a bevy of acting awards, and her appearances on Saturday Night Live have gone down in comedy history. With her hair pulled back into a ponytail, McCarthy epitomized '70s chic and looked happy and healthy.

"I think everybody's always kind of working on something,” she said. “And I was like, 'If I can de-stress and just do it slower and stop constantly trying to be on something.' And then it actually worked better instead of being like, 'I'm gonna not do this and do this and only drink this.’ ”

McCarthy Made Us Laugh at the Bridesmaids Reunion

Last month, McCarthy joined her Bridesmaids costars Kristen WiigMaya RudolphRose Byrne, and Ellie Kemper for a fun reunion at the Academy Awards inside Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre. It's hard to believe it's been 15 years since the beloved comedy hit movie screens!

“We are not good with numbers but we figured out backstage that means we shot this movie in 1883,” Wiig laughed.

McCarthy's hilarious line, which was jokingly meant to be written by Sentimental Value nominee Elle Fanning, said: “All the things that you’ve done to your faces are very tasteful." Well, at least it's the truth!

‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Cast Guide: Who’s Back, Who’s Gone and the Surprising New Additions

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 11:00am

After more than four years off the air, Euphoria returns for its highly anticipated third (and presumably final) season with a mix of familiar faces and new additions. Led once again by Zendaya, the ensemble drama continues to explore themes of addiction, identity and relationships through its sprawling cast. The story picks up with a time jump, meaning not all of our faves are returning to the show.

Here is your guide to the cast of Euphoria Season 3, from returning characters to new faces.

Euphoria Season 3 castZendaya as Rue Bennett Zendaya as Rue in 'Euphoria'

Patrick Wymore/HBO

Although the series has a strong cast of characters, it's hard to argue that anyone is the main character other than Zendaya. Having been mixed up in trying to make some money by dealing drugs, Rue found herself in a few messy (and dangerous) situations during Season 2. At the start of Season 3, Rue seems to be clean, though on the run in Mexico. Zendaya will add Euphoria to a list of an enormous list of credits in 2026. In addition to The Drama, she will also star in The Odyssey, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Dune: Part Three this year.

Hunter Schafer as Jules Hunter Schafer

Jules ended Season 2 at a crossroads as she distanced herself from Rue. She spent much of the season trying to define herself outside of the orbit of Rue, but it's hard to think their paths won't cross again in Season 3, even as Jules seems to be off at school. Schafter has appeared in a few movies since the last season of the HBO drama, including The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Cuckoo and Kinds of Kindess.

Jacob Elordi as Nate Jacob Elordi

Nate closed Season 2 in a position of control, turning his father into the police. It appears that he will begin the new season living in the suburbs with Cassie. Since we last saw Elordi on Euphoria, the Australian actor has appeared in Priscilla, Saltburn and Frankenstein, which earned him an Oscar nomination.

Alexa Demie is Maddy Alexa Demie

Maddy appears to have left high school behind and has moved to Hollywood. After the fallout of her relationship with Nate and Cassie, Maddy will have to navigate these changes in a new environment. Demie has appeared in The Idol and Fantasmas.

Sydney Sweeney as Cassie Sydney Sweeney

Cassie enters Season 3 seemingly convinced she has found stability as she is now engaged to Nate and living with him in the suburbs. There are also indications that Cassie is exploring new ventures online. It's as if she doesn't know how to stay out of trouble.

Sweeney had a tremendous amount of box-office success with The Housemaid and will appear in The Devil Wears Prada 2, releasing this summer.

Maude Apatow as Lexi Maude Apatow

Lexi will move forward from the "success" of her play by stepping into the professional world, now working in Hollywood as an assistant to a television showrunner. Apatow starred in the hit One of Them Days and recently made her directorial debut with Poetic License.

Dominic Fike as Elliot Dominic Fike

Elliot arrived in Season 2 as a love interest to Jules, though how he figures into the story of Season 3 is yet to be known. A singer and musician, the show was Fike's acting debut.

Colman Domingo as Ali Colman Domingo

Ali returns in Season 3 as Rue’s sponsor and one of the few steady influences in her life. After offering both tough love and empathy throughout Season 2, he remains a grounding presence as Rue attempts to remain sober. Colman Domingo has seen his profile rise significantly since Euphoria last aired, earning an Academy Award nomination for Rustin and appearing in projects such as The Color Purple and as the voice of The Cowardly Lion in Wicked: For Good.

Eric Dane as Cal Jacobs Eric Dane

Cal’s story is not over heading into Season 3, despite his arrest at the hands of Nate in Season 2. Known for his work in Grey's Anatomy, Dane will appear in the show posthumously, having passed away in February 2026.

Martha Kelly as Laurie Martha Kelly

Having had her money and drugs stolen by Rue, Laurie seems to be a looming threat for our main character in Season 3. Kelly is known for her work in Hacks, Fallout and Baskets.

Chloe Cherry as Faye Chloe Cherry

Faye’s return in Season 3 has been confirmed, though details around her storyline remain tightly under wraps. After playing a key role in the fallout surrounding Fez and the events of Season 2, there is speculation she could resurface in connection to Rue’s time away.

Alanna Ubach as Suze Alanna Ubach

Suze returns in Season 3, likely continuing her role as the often oblivious but occasionally perceptive mother managing her daughter's hectic personal life. Her more recent acting credits include The Last of Us and Venom: The Last Dance.

Nika King as Leslie Nika King

Returning to the show is Nika King as Leslie, Rue's mom, who will hopefully be an emotional anchor for her daughter. Recently, she has appeared in the films 65 and Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot.

Danielle Deadwyler Danielle Deadwyler

Danielle Deadwyler joins Season 3 in a new role, though details about her character remain limited. The actress has received critical acclaim for her roles in The Harder They Fall, Till and The Piano Lesson and is an exciting powerhouse addition to the series.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje joins Season 3 in what is reported to be a major role, rumored to be connected to Rue's storyline. Akinnuoye-Agbaje is known for roles in Lost, Oz and Suicide Squad.

Barbie Ferreira as Kat Barbie Ferreira

Kat was part of Rue's core high school friend group, but reports that her character's story had reached a natural conclusion, Barbie Ferreira mutually agreed to part ways with the show. The actress's other film credits include Bob Trevino Likes It and Mile End Kicks.

Storm Reid as Gia Storm Reid as Gia in 'Euphoria'

Reid plays Rue's sister, so it's a bit surprising that she won't be appearing in the new season, though reports confirm this to have been a scheduling conflict. Other acting credits include The Last of Us and Missing.

Algee Smith as Chris Algee Smith

Having played Cassie's ex-boyfriend in previous seasons, he will not be returning for Season 3. Since last appearing on Euphoria, he has been in movies such as Young. Wild. Free and Shooting Stars.

Javon Walton as Ashtray Javon Watson

After his character's death in Season 2, it should be no surprise that Walton will not be appearing in Season 3. The actor and boxer had a recurring role in Season 3 of The Umbrella Academy and starred in Under the Bridge.

Austin Abrams as Ethan Austin Abrams

With Ferreira leaving the show, it seemed likely that Abrams's character Ethan might also be written out. Such is the case as the actor is not set to appear in Season 3. Abrams has appeared in several movies and shows, including the breakout horror hit Weapons and will be in the upcoming Resident Evil movie.

Beloved '90s Country Icon Jo Dee Messina's American Idol Reaction Has Fans Emotional

Sat, 04/11/2026 - 10:40am

Jo Dee Messina just proved once again why country music fans absolutely adore her — and this time, it involved an American Idolcontestant, Hannah Harper; heartfelt video reaction, and the kind of genuine support that has fans calling Messina the ultimate "girl's girl" in country music.

When Harper took the American Idol stage to perform one of Messina's most iconic songs, “Heads Carolina, Tails California” the '90s country icon didn't just watch quietly from her couch at home. She recorded her live reaction and shared it with her fans, playfully telling the young singer through her screen: "Okay Hannah, you're not allowed to sing it better than me."

@jodeemessina

Oh my gosh! I saw this on @AmericanIdol tonight! So exciting!!! Did YOU see it?! Thanks @Carrie Underwood, love you girl! 💜💜💜 @hannahharperofficial

The lighthearted moment perfectly captured Messina's charming personality — confident enough to joke about competition, secure enough to celebrate another artist's talent publicly, and warm enough to make Harper's American Idol moment even more special by acknowledging it at all.

Jo Dee Messina's Support for Rising Country Artists Shows Why She's a Legend

Messina didn't stop at the playful warning. She immediately followed up with genuine enthusiasm, posting on TikTok: "Oh my gosh! I saw this on @AmericanIdol tonight! So exciting!!! Did YOU see it?!"

She also made a point to thank American Idol judge, Carrie Underwood, mentioning during her video reaction: "Good choice Carrie, good choice." The fact that Underwood — herself a country superstar and former American Idol winner — selected Messina's song for Harper to perform just added another layer of cross-generational country music appreciation to this iconic moment.

Fans immediately recognized the importance and classiness of Messina's public support. The comment section flooded with emotional responses celebrating her character as much as her music.

"I love this!!! You just made her day by doing this!!!" one fan commented, acknowledging how much Messina's recognition and validation likely meant to Harper.

Another captured what many were thinking: "She did amazing, but you are the goat! #90sCountryQueen!"

The suggestion that many mentioned? "We need a Hannah and Jo Dee duet." Because if there's one thing fans know about Messina, it's that she genuinely supports rising artists rather than viewing them as threats. There’s room for everybody.

One fan even proposed a great idea: "You need to be a judge on American Idol/The Voice," recognizing that Messina's combination of expertise, and genuine encouragement would make her ideal for mentoring new and emerging talent.
