Kaia Gerber is opening up about the loss of her older brother, Presley Gerber, in a letter filled with childhood memories and words of love.

Presley—Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber‘s son — died on September 20.

Kaia, in her first-ever statement since the tragedy, shared an emotional Instagram tribute to her older brother on Sunday, Oct. 18, nearly a month after his death at age 27. In a series of deeply personal messages, The Shards actress described their lifelong bond, her brother’s kindness, and how hard it is to imagine a future without him. She captioned the tearful post, “i love you the bluest, to the moon and back and back again, forever big brother.”

Kaia, 25, began her message by saying it felt impossible to express her grief. “Prez, I don’t have the words, and maybe the tiny mercy is that we didn’t need them all along. Words fail and words subtract and words summarize and words always lack truth. And how naive of me to believe that language could transcend grief,” she began.

Kaia explained that she had spent time searching for answers but found little comfort in trying to make sense of her loss. “I’ve read all of the books and I have none of the answers. My articulation is no match against this, the magnitude of losing you,” she wrote. She went on to describe how much she cherished being Presley’s younger sister, a relationship she said had always been central to her life.

Among the memories Kaia revisited was a childhood moment when Presley helped her overcome her fear of getting her ears pierced. “And I keep thinking about how when we were little, I got scared before getting my ears pierced, so you went first. You always went first,” she recalled.

That memory became especially painful when she reflected on receiving an earring that had belonged to her brother: “And I really [expletive] wish you hadn’t gone first this time.”

Kaia also reflected on Presley’s character, remembering his kindness and his willingness to see the good in others. “You believed people were inherently good because, Presley, you are inherently good,” she wrote. The actress acknowledged that she is still learning how to navigate their relationship without being able to speak to him, adding, “How to tell you something without picking up my phone to call you. How to be your sister in a world that I can’t reach for you in.”

Despite her grief, Kaia made clear that she would never trade the years they had together: “I was born loving you. I will die loving you. There was never anything else.”

Presley’s family previously described him as a beloved son and brother whose kindness and vulnerability touched those around him.

His cause of death has not been publicly disclosed.

Written and directed by 27-year-old Curry Barker, Obsession follows Bear (Michael Johnston), who comes across a One Wish Willow toy in a shop. Too scared to confess his feelings to his crush and long-time friend Nikki (Inde Navarrette), he uses the toy to wish she’d love him more than anything in the world. His wish backfires when Nikki becomes dangerously obsessed with him. 

Because of its popularity, the film had a three-month theatrical run from May to July. It later released on Peacock on July 17. Now, another streaming platform is picking up the iconic horror film. Obsession is slated to hit Netflix on November 17. Although it won’t hit the streaming platform until after spooky season, we can bet that horror fans will be the first ones to watch it in November.  Netflix teased the announcement of the film coming to their platform in a social media post with the caption, “You wished for this. Obsession is coming to Netflix in the US on November 17.”

While Barker hasn’t announced Obsession 2, Navarrette is completely on board. “What is she doing afterwards? I think the non-pretty answer, which I think is more important to give sometimes than kind of just giggling through answers, is she’s starting a grief process,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

The OG of the Real Housewives is officially 20 years old! The Real Housewives of Orange County is the city that started it all, and has given us some of the most iconic moments (Vicki’s infamous “family van” freakout) and storylines (Brooks Ayers‘ faking cancer) that the franchise has ever seen. Currently, the series stars RHOC legends Vicki Gunvalson, Tamra Judge, Heather Dubrow, and Shannon Beador, alongside mainstays Gina Kirschenheiter and Emily Simpson, Jennifer Pedranti, and newbie Carmella Garcia.

As for one big change we’d like to make with this series, it’s time for a cast shakeup. Outside of newbie Garcia, the cast has relatively stayed the same for the last four years, and it shows. Tamra herself recently told Entertainment Tonight that it is time for a “cast shakeup” in RHOC. We’ll see once the reunion airs who is staying and who is leaving for Season 21.

What does it need to change?

One of the newer franchises, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, has remained a breakout success since it premiered. Between the headline-making on-camera arrest of Jen Shah, to the explosive Season 4 finale with the now-infamous Monica Garcia, the show truly breathed new life into the franchise since its 2020 debut. Season 8 of RHOSLC is currently airing, with Heather Gay, Whitney Rose, Meredith Marks, Lisa Barlow, Mary Cosby, Angie Katsanevas, and Bronwyn Newport all returning as full-time housewives.

Like RHOC, RHOSLC may be due for a shakeup. In its 7 seasons, the core four (Barlow, Gay, Marks, and Rose) have all remained, and it leaves one to wonder how the show would fare if one of them stepped away for a season or two, or even became a “Friend Of.” As the cast divide has become bigger than ever, something has got to give, and we predict some shifts in casting ahead of Season 8.

The Real Housewives of Potomac is back and better than ever! One of the funniest franchises in The Real Housewives universe, the show has always been one of Bravo’s hidden gems. In the last few years, however, the show has become bigger than ever, with OGs like Gizelle Bryant and Karen Huger becoming some of the most popular “Bravolebrities” on the network. Already a hit with fans, season 11 just premiered and features an all-star cast (“OGs” Bryant, Huger, Ashley Darby and Robyn Dixon return, alongside Dr. Wendy Osefo, Stacey Rusch, Tia Glover, Monique Samuels and newbie Courtney Ajinca.

As for what we’d change on Potomac? Absolutely nothing. Yes, the newest season just started, but beyond that, Potomac stands as one of the cities that has really figured out its dynamics. With old mainstays mixing with splashy newbies, this cast as it stands could last for many seasons to come. Long live Potomac!

Bravo

When does it come on?

New episodes air Tuesday nights at 8 pm ET on Bravo, with episodes streaming next day on Peacock.

What does it need to change?

After a bumpy start, the rebooted RHONY seems to be back on track. The latest season of RHONY features some of the original reboot’s stars (Erin Lichy, Sai De Silva, and Jessel Taank), with splashy newbies (Hailey Glassman, Daisy Toye, and Erika Hammond) and one of the biggest stars from the original series: Carole Radziwill.

Unlike the other cities on our list, RHONY has an opposite problem: It’s been riddled with too many changes. Still, there’s always room for improvement, and while the season is still just getting started, we’d like to see even more of the greatest city in the world on RHONY. What has always made this series so special is the city itself, and there is never too much to highlight! Keep the Central Park walks, splashy downtown dinners, and fashion shows coming!

What needs to change?

Still the highest-rated city in the franchise, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will always be Bravo’s diamond. The show has some of the biggest stars in Hollywood clamoring to join the cast, and the upcoming season will see one of the biggest names joining the women of the 90210: Leah Remini.

Still, the last few seasons have been quite repetitive on RHOBH, with the feud between Kyle Richards and Doris Kemsley wearing thin on viewers. We’re hoping that with the addition of Remini and Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles star Tracy Tutor joining the fray, this shakeup will serve as the big change the show needs to return to its former glory. RHOBH has always tended to latch onto one “storyline” all season, and when it returns, here’s hoping we get a season with multiple “dramas,” “fights,” and “iconic moments” to spare.

The peaches of Atlanta will always be a staple in the franchise. The Real Housewives of Atlanta is currently experiencing a bit of a renaissance, with a cast that Andy Cohen himself has said on the record is not changing anytime soon. RHOA legends Porsha Williams, Cynthia Bailey, and Phaedra Parks are joined by Drew Sidora, Angela Oakley, Shamea Morton Mwangi, Kelli Ferrell, Pinky Cole, and K. Michelle.

The latest season of RHOA is currently in production, so it’s hard to predict what changes may come our way. After such a stellar sixteenth season, we hope the show can keep the momentum and continue to give us those classic RHOA moments that cemented the series in the first place.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey

Bravo

When does it premiere?

Bravo has yet to announce an official return date for RHONJ.

What needs to change?

Our long national nightmare is over: The Real Housewives of New Jersey is coming back! After an almost two-year break, one of the biggest cities is finally coming back, with Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga, and Dolores Catania returning with a cast of newbies.

Jury is still out as to whether this soft reboot will work, but if history is any indication, the Garden State ladies will be just fine. RHONJ remains one of the longest-running cities for a reason, and these ladies know how to keep us entertained. One big change we’re hoping for in the new season is drama that is a bit lighter than years past. The last season was considerably dark, and for the success of the franchise, we want drama based on petty grievances and not private investigators and lawsuits, please!

What needs to change?

The Real Housewives of Rhode Island is Bravo’s shiny new toy! The series debuted earlier this year to great ratings and adoration from the fans, filling the Italian-style hole left in the franchise in the wake of RHONJ’s pause. These ladies (Alicia Carmody, Rosie DiMare, Ashley Iaconetti, Kelsey Swanson, Rulla Nehme Pontarelli, Elizabeth “Liz” McGraw, and Jo-Ellen Tiberi) felt fresh, confrontational, genuinely funny, and entertaining.

Unfortunately, scene-stealer McGraw is not returning for Season 2, which is a change we would not recommend for the second season. In that same vein, however, we’d like to see a couple of newbies with this group in her place.

The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip just aired its latest season, celebrating 20 years of the Real Housewives. The “All-Stars” style series takes housewives from various cities and brings them together for an often drama-filled trip! The show has served as a true celebration of the franchise as a whole. While Bravo has not announced another season of the series just yet, we hope this isn’t the end for this mash-up show.

The ladies of Miami are on a break. Despite being a fan-favorite franchise, The Real Housewives of Miami is officially on pause. The series starring Larsa Pippen, Lisa Hochstein, Alexia Nepola, Guerdy Abraira, Julia Lemigova, Adriana de Moura, Marysol Patton, Kiki Barth, and Stephanie Shojaee last aired last year, with Bravo announcing shortly after the reunion that the series is not returning after low ratings.

Miami has been on pause before, returning in 2021, 8 years after its 3rd season aired. Andy Cohen himself seems hopeful of a possible return, telling Deadline, “I hope it’s coming back. If it were up to me, it would be, and it’s not. It’s a great show, and we love it. Last season was a blockbuster.

The Real Housewives of Dubai

The Real Housewives of Dubai may be done for good. The second season of the reality show aired in 2023, and shortly after, Bravo announced the show was put on indefinite pause. Read about the cast here.

Target shoppers looking to give their homes a vintage-inspired refresh have a new collection to browse.

Simply Shabby Chic, the home brand created by designer Rachel Ashwell, has returned to the retailer with floral bedding, romantic ruffles, and a holiday collection that puts a pink-hued spin on Christmas decorating.

“In 1989 I founded Shabby Chic. My design philosophy then and still today is to create beautiful and timeless products for the home,” Rachel Ashwell, who originally debuted the bran in Target stores in 2004, said in a release shared with Parade. “I am so proud and excited to share that Simply Shabby Chic is once again returning to its exclusive home at Target.”

The brand’s new collection began rolling out earlier this month, and its holiday assortment is arriving in stages throughout October. While the line includes bedding and other home essentials, the seasonal decorations are especially worth a look for shoppers who prefer a more whimsical take on traditional Christmas colors.

Among the standout finds is an 18-inch pink bottle-brush Christmas wreath, complete with flocking and vintage-style ornaments, priced at $25. Shoppers can also find an 18-inch pink bottle-brush Christmas tree for $25 and a three-foot artificial pink Christmas tree for $35. For smaller accents, the collection includes a $15 ceramic Santa figurine, as well as pastel-colored gingerbread houses.

The holiday collection extends beyond decorations, too. Shoppers can find candy cane-print flannel sheet sets priced from $35 to $65, depending on size, along with a pink candy cane quilt with scalloped trim priced at $70 to $90. A coordinating quilt sham costs $20, while a winter-scene comforter with ruffle trim is available for $70 to $90.

Edward Leedskalnin stood just over 5 feet tall and weighed about 100 pounds. Asked how he moved giant blocks of rock, he said he “understood the laws of weight and leverage well,” according to the Coral Castle website.

Born in Riga, Latvia, in 1887, he came from a family of stonemasons. At 26, he got engaged to Agnes Scuffs, 10 years younger, whom he called his “Sweet Sixteen.” She called off the wedding one day before the ceremony, according to the Coral Castle website. He later moved to Florida in 1918 for his health, after contracting tuberculosis, per NBC 6 South Florida.

He started carving in 1923 in Florida City, and he did it without a car. He rode a bicycle 3.5 miles into town for supplies, according to the castle’s website.

Then, in 1936, developers began a subdivision near his property, per Mental Floss. Leedskalnin bought 10 acres in Homestead and spent the next three years moving his work about 10 miles north. He used the chassis of an old Republic truck fitted with two rails, and a friend’s tractor pulled the loaded trailer.

He finished the walls in 1940. Each wall section stands 8 feet tall, 4 feet wide and 3 feet thick, and weighs more than 5.8 tons, according to NBC 6. Despite the name, the rock is mostly oolite limestone, Mental Floss notes, though it often holds fossilized coral and shells.

Visitors paid 10 or 25 cents for a tour, and Leedskalnin sold five pamphlets he wrote in the gift shop. He wasn’t the only one to spend decades building a one-man monument. Simon Rodia put in 33 years on 17 towers in his Los Angeles yard. Visitors can also see Simon’s towers on guided tours, still offered today from Thursday through Saturday.

In December 1951, Leedskalnin put a sign on the castle door that read “going to the hospital,” took a bus to Jackson Memorial in Miami and died three days later at age 64. A box of his belongings held thirty-five $100 bills, his life savings, according to the castle’s website.

The castle was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 under its original name, Rock Gate Park, according to NBC 6. How he moved the stones is still, officially, his secret.

M&M’s are a Halloween staple, but the story behind the colorful candy is not as sweet as you may think. Before the chocolate treats became a global phenomenon, a father-son feud set the stage for their creation.

The year was 1932, and Midwestern candy maker Frank Mars was unhappy with some of his son Forrest’s ideas for the family business. Forrest had already come up with the idea of what would become the Milky Way bar, and it became a huge seller, but he had bigger dreams. According to The Guardian, he asked his father to sign over one-third of Mars Incorporated to him and to expand the business into Canada. Frank refused, their relationship deteriorated, and he ultimately pushed his son out of the Mars business.

“I wanted to conquer the whole… world,” Forrest once said. “I told my dad to stick the business up his a–.”

That year, Frank gave his son $50,000 and the foreign rights to Milky Way. Forrest moved to Europe, where another big idea was sparked several years after his father’s 1934 death.

The idea for M&M’s came during Forrest’s trip to Spain in the late 1930s, when he saw soldiers snacking on chocolate bits covered in a hard shell that prevented the candy from melting in their hands, per a post on Mars Military.

As noted by Hershey Community Archives, Forrest expected there would be a chocolate shortage developing during the pending World War II, so upon his return to the U.S., he approached Bruce Murrie, the son of Hershey’s Chocolate president William F.R. Murrie, for a deal that would ensure him access to his new candy’s key ingredient.

With Forrest’s ideas and manufacturing ambitions and Murrie’s access to Hershey’s chocolate, it was the perfect partnership.

“We had tremendous help from my father—an assured supply of chocolate and a lot of technical help,” Murrie said of the candy collaboration.

The company M&M’S Limited was formed in Newark, New Jersey, and the new plain chocolate candy-coated product was ultimately named M&M’s as a nod to Mars and Murrie’s surnames.

In 1941, M&M’s Plain Chocolate Candies were introduced and initially sold just to the military before sales were expanded to the general public. Eight years later, Murrie sold his 20 percent stake in the company while Forrest continued to build M&M’s into a worldwide candy brand.

Once imitators began to emerge, Forrest came up the clever idea to stamp a small “m” on each piece of candy to differentiate his brand from knockoffs, according to the M&M’s website. M&M’s eventually became integrated into the Mars business.

Today, dozens of M&M’s flavors are available—everything from peanut M&M’s to limited-edition flavors such as red velvet, candy apple and gingerbread for the holidays.

And it all started with an emerging entrepreneur’s dream.

When Forrest Mars died in 1999 at age 95, not only did he have an estimated net worth of $4 billion, but he left behind a global confectionery empire that made M&M’s a household name.  What began with a family falling out and an unlikely business partnership became one of the most recognizable candy brands in history.

Alfonso Ribeiro will be performing with Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik on Dancing With The Stars‘ “Dedication Night.”

“Jan and I are working hard in the studio [for ‘Dedication Night,’ but we have somebody special,” Ali said in a behind-the-scenes rehearsal video before pulling Ribeiro into the frame.

“We are so excited we get to dance together, I get to dance with [Ravnik] for the first time, and we get to honor the late, great James Avery,” Ribeiro said. “‘Dedication Night’ always brings out the tears. We’re going to bring out some smiles.”

James Avery played the character Philip Banks, or Uncle Phil, on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Phil was the father of Ali’s character Ashley, as well as Ribeiro’s character Carlton.

Avery passed away in 2013 at the age of 68, and on Tuesday’s episode, the trio will perform a Viennese waltz to “(You Don’t Know) How Glad I Am” by Nancy Wilson in honor of him.

“[Avery] means a lot to the fans of [The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air]. He meant a lot to me. He was a mentor to me, a teacher to me. He was the heart of the show in so many ways,” Ali said in the rehearsal video. “He loved the arts. He taught me about all of the artists he thought I needed to know.”

“I wouldn’t be who I am today as a performer, as a woman, without him being in my life,” she continued. “He was a lover also of jazz, and Nancy Wilson is one of his favorite artists.”

Ali also revealed that she will be the one singing “(You Don’t Know) How Glad I Am” for their performance and will be pre-recording it ahead of Tuesday’s episode.

“I just hope that everyone, that you all feel how much we love him,” she concluded.

Back in 1970, Claude Bell predicted his concrete dinosaur would “scare the dickens out of a lot of people driving up over the pass,” according to CoachellaValley.com.

The pass is the San Gorgonio Pass, just west of Palm Springs, and the dinosaur was a very large sign for Bell’s Wheel Inn cafe. He opened the restaurant in 1958 and started work on the dinosaur in 1964. Dinny, as it came to be known, stands about 150 feet long and 45 feet high, and it took Bell about eleven years to finish, according to Weird California.

He built it on a steel frame covered in expanded metal and shotcrete, using leftover materials from nearby Interstate 10 construction, per CoachellaValley.com. Bell reportedly spent more than $250,000.

The idea traces back to a childhood visit to Atlantic City, where Bell saw an elephant-shaped building called Lucy. In 1970, he called Dinny “the first dinosaur in history, so far as I know, to be used as a building.” The glowing eyes and fire-spitting mouth he once planned never made it onto the finished dinosaur.

A second dinosaur, a Tyrannosaurus rex about 65 feet tall, followed in 1981, according to Weird California. Bell died in 1988 at age 91 with a woolly mammoth and a prehistoric garden still unbuilt.

The next chapter was a surprise. After Bell’s death, developer Gary Kanter and Pastor Robert Darwin Chiles used the dinosaurs to promote creationist views, according to Roadside America, with a museum and gift shop that rejected evolution. The timing is fuzzy: Roadside America dates the arrangement to 2005, while Weird California says the museum was being built in 2004 and that the owners arrived in the mid-1990s.

That chapter has closed. California the Quirky reports the creationist exhibits were removed in 2017, while Roadside America says the religious elements ended after about ten years. A visitor writing for Weird California says no obvious signs of them remain.

Today, the site’s own page advertises a dinosaur walk with a dig pit and a gemstone panning sluice. Adult admission is $15, according to the Cabazon Dinosaurs website, though Dinny and Mr. Rex can still be photographed for free. Fans of “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” and “The Wizard” may recognize the pair from both films.

The Wheel Inn that started it all is gone, closed in September 2013 and bulldozed in December 2016, according to Roadside America. The dinosaurs remain. As Bell’s daughter, Wendy Murphy, put it, “The dinosaurs aren’t dead and they never will be.”

Big dreams in open country are a roadside tradition, from Cabazon to a circle of 39 cars in a Nebraska field, called the Carhenge.

Former Passions star Mary Elizabeth Winstead has opened up about her decision to leave the soap opera after just a year.

Winstead reflected on her first job in Hollywood with The Offcamera Show. Back in 1999, Winstead took on the role of Jessica Bennett on the NBC soap opera Passions—a show targeted towards a younger demographic than traditional soap operas.

Passions told the story of the residents of Harmony, New England, where magic and mischief unfolded alongside the witch Tabitha (Juliet Mills) and her talking doll, Timmy (Josh Ryan Evans).

Jessica was the youngest daughter of the Bennet family. At the time of casting, Winstead was 14 and had just moved to L.A. and gotten an agent.

“I didn’t particularly enjoy the experience,” Winstead revealed.

The actress explained that she had been on sets before accepting the role, so she had some understanding of what a typical set is like. “I kind of knew this wasn’t what everything was like.”

Winstead described the experience as having a real “militant vibe,” sharing that it wasn’t “friendly and it wasn’t encouraging or warm.”

She went on to explain that despite being a minor, her mother wasn’t allowed to be on set and was forced to spend the working days in her dressing room. “There were times where she would kind of try and quietly be there, and they would be like ‘we’ll just pretend we didn’t see you around here’.”

Ultimately, Winstead shares that she was miserable and that, after a year in the role, she caused a lot of behind-the-scenes drama by breaking her contract and quitting the show.

Thankfully for Winstead, her career continued to build upon success after success, and she has remained happily employed since leaving the show, most recently appearing in the Hulu remake of The Hand That Rocks the Cradle and A Gentleman in Moscow, and providing her voice in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
