Global action icon Jackie Chan is celebrating his 72nd birthday, marking an extraordinary 64-year journey in film that began when he was just a child. 

Known for his fearless stunts, comedic timing and worldwide appeal, Chan remains one of the most recognized figures in entertainment history.

Born in Hong Kong in 1954, Chan entered the film industry at around age five with small roles. By 1962, he landed a more prominent role in Big and Little Wong Tin Bar, setting the stage for a career spanning more than six decades and over 200 films.

Chan’s rise to fame was shaped by years of intense training in martial arts, acrobatics and acting at a strict opera school. These skills helped him develop a unique style that mixed kung fu action with humor.

His breakout came in 1978 with Drunken Master and Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow, where he introduced a playful and relatable hero. This was very different from the serious tone of earlier martial arts stars like Bruce Lee.

Over the years, Chan became known for performing his own stunts, often at great personal risk. During the filming of Armour of God, he suffered a skull fracture after falling from a tree, one of the most dangerous moments of his career. He has also broken or injured many parts of his body, including his ribs, ankles and fingers.

Despite these injuries, Chan continued to push boundaries with films like Police Story and Project A, which showcased daring stunts and inventive fight scenes. 

Filmmakers have praised his work for years. Quentin Tarantino once described him as “one of the greatest physical comedians,” while Edgar Wright highlighted his ability to play an “everyman” hero who overcomes challenges with skill and humor.

Chan’s success expanded beyond Asia in the 1990s, starting with Rumble in the Bronx, which introduced him to Western audiences. He later became a Hollywood star with Rush Hour, alongside Chris Tucker.

The film’s success led to sequels and opened doors to more international projects, including Shanghai Noon and The Karate Kid. He also reached younger audiences by voicing characters in Kung Fu Panda.

Many modern action films and franchises have drawn inspiration from his choreography and stunt work. Chan’s style also helped shape pop culture, inspiring anime, video games and even real-world movements like parkour.

In recognition of his global impact, Chan received an honorary Academy Award in 2016 for his “distinctive international career.” He also earned stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Hong Kong Avenue of Stars, along with numerous lifetime achievement awards.

Even as he aged, Chan continued to evolve. In later films, he took on more emotional roles, moving away from purely action-based characters. He has said he wanted to show a deeper side of his acting while still staying true to his roots.

Beyond entertainment, Chan is also known for his charity work. He founded the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation and has supported disaster relief, education and conservation efforts. He has pledged to donate a large portion of his wealth to charity, showing his commitment to helping others.

At 72, Chan remains active in the industry, working on new films and mentoring younger performers. While he now performs fewer dangerous stunts, his passion for storytelling and action remains strong.

As fans celebrate his birthday, his legacy stands clear: a performer who redefined action cinema, broke barriers between cultures  and entertained generations with courage, humor and heart.

Find theme words to fill the board.

• Theme words stay highlighted in blue when found.

Find the “spangram.”

• The spangram describes the puzzle's theme and touches two opposite sides of the board. It may be two words.
• The spangram highlights in yellow when found.
• An example spangram with corresponding theme words: PEAR, FRUIT, BANANA, APPLE, etc.

Need a hint?

• Find non-theme words to get hints.
• For every three non-theme words you find, you earn a hint.

Movies get the Oscars, TV gets the Emmys, and then there's Broadway.

Every year, typically in June, the biggest plays to hit New York City are honored by the Tony Awards, a prestigious and often unforgettable event that just happened to celebrate its whopping 79th anniversary.

The star-studded night dates back to 1947, when the American Theater Wing established an awards program to celebrate excellence on stage. The awards were named after Antoinette Perry, who was an actress, director, producer and wartime leader of the Wing. She had recently passed away by the time the ceremony was established.

According to Perry’s eldest daughter, Margaret Perry, the honor was originally going to be called the Toni Award — but a popular ad campaign at the time was also using the name Toni. So, the decision was made to change the spelling to "Tony" Award.

The Tonys made their official debut at a dinner in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria hotel on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1947. The dress code was black tie optional, and the performers who took to the stage included Mickey Rooney and Ethel Waters. Big winners that night included Arthur Miller, Ingrid Bergman, Patricia Neal and Elia Kazan.

According to Playbill, there was no official Tony Award for the first two years. The winners were presented with a scroll, as well as engraved 14-karat gold money clips or cigarette lighters for the men, and initialed articles of jewelry for the women, including initialed compacts and bracelets.

Added to that, theater professionals weren’t the only individuals honored. Prizes were also given to loyal attendees of first nights. There was even a special award honoring the long service of a particular stage doorman!

In more modern Broadway news, fans may have caught Daniel Radcliffe in the current one-person show Every Brilliant Thing — or plan to. But on May 26, Mariska Hargitaywill take over for the Harry Potter star, 36.

Keanu Reeves sparked major nostalgia from fans after the Hollywood star was reunited with Constantine co-star Gavin Rossdale.

The duo instantly rekindled the excitement and curiosity from the public during the A-lister’s guest appearance on the TODAY show.

On Monday, Reeves spoke with host Craig Melvin to discuss his upcoming movie Outcome and share details about his new music from his rock group Dogstar.

However, prior to this, the show’s official Instagram account featured a photo of the Constantine cast.  

The Canadian actor and musician looked laidback in his all-black outfit, exuding that effortlessly cool vibe that fans have come to love.

As for the British musician, he opted for a more casual look with a tie-dyed long-sleeve top, black trousers and sneakers, but both radiated that undeniable charm.

In the post captioned “Keanu and Gavin” the comment section lit up with ‘90s nostalgia as fans recalled the iconic supernatural horror-fantasy film.

“Giving me some 90s vibes!!” one wrote.

“It's funny. Both were in the film Constantine,” a commenter mentioned.

“Constantine 2! Let’s goooo,” a follower said, requesting a sequel.

“Constantine 2, please,” a fan echoed.

“Killer pair right here!” another remarked, referring to their roles in Constantine.

Another Instagram user echoed the excitement, referencing their characters with a shoutout, “Constantine and Balthazar!!!!”

On the other hand, some expressed interest in the duo’s roles outside acting.

“Too much power and greatness in these two legends have this photo. You should do a music collaboration someday. It will be awesome,” a follower wrote.

“Dogstar and Bush,” mentioned one commenter.

As mentioned, Reeves and Rossdale were part of the 2005 film directed by Francis Lawrence, making Constantine his feature-length directorial debut.

The 61-year-old award-winning actor starred as John Constantine, an occult detective who exorcises demons in hopes of securing a place in Heaven.

Joining him as a supporting character was Rossdale as the antagonist Balthazar, a well-dressed high-level "half-breed" demon and the personal rival to Constantine.

Before their 2026 reunion, the duo was last seen together in 2019 after the British musician attended Reeves’ premiere of his movie John Wick 3 in New York.

Alongside movie composer Tyler Bates, Rossdale co-wrote a few songs, including “Bullet Holes” performed by Bush and featured in the film.

"'Bullet Holes’ is one of four songs Gavin Rossdale and I wrote together for the forthcoming Bush record,” Bates shared, as cited by Loudwire. “At that time, I was working on the score for this film and once Gavin sang the chorus, I felt the song would be a perfect compliment to the movie. We sent the track to the director, Chad Stahelski, and he was into it. We are very psyched that this song is now part of the John Wick world.”

Rossdale dishes on his working relationship with Reeves, whom he compared to another iconic actor.

“We worked together on Constantine 10 years ago, so I shot with him for a few weeks, then I did some press with him, spent time with him,” he told Forbes, adding, “I hadn't seen him in a long time, and I saw him at the premiere in New York, and I love him. He's disarming. I think he's a fantastic actor because he reminds me of a young Harrison Ford.”

Sia reached an agreement with her estranged husband Daniel Bernad regarding child support.

According to court documents obtained by People filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday, April 6, the singer will pay Bernard $42,500 monthly in child support. The two share a son, Somersault Wonder Bernad, who was born on March 27, 2024.

Sia began the payments on Wednesday, April 1, and will continue the monthly payments to Bernad until their child turns 18, or, if he is still attending high school full time, until he graduates or turns 19. The agreement may also end under certain conditions such as death, marriage, emancipation or further court order.

The singer will be responsible for paying for their son's private school tuition, extra-curricular activities, and healthcare expenses not covered by insurance. She will also be required to establish a $5 million life insurance policy with her son as beneficiary.

Sia and Bernad will share joint legal custody of their son, while physical custody will follow a set schedule that began on Wednesday, April 1. Bernad will have custody on holidays such as Father's Day and Hanukkah and Sia will have custody on Mother's Day, Easter, and Christmas.

Sia first filed for divorce from Bernad in March 2025 after three years of marriage. In Oct. 2025, Bernad filed a request seeking sole legal and physical custody of their son alleging Sia was, "an unfit and unreliable parent struggling with substance abuse and addiction."

Sia responded to Bernad's claims at the time stating that she was six months sober and actively in recovery. A judge then denied Bernad's request for sole custody stating there was, “sufficient exigency for the requested emergency relief has not been shown at this time."

Additionally, according to the Monday, April 6 filing, a previous issue regarding spousal support was resolved separately in Dec. 2025.

Classic novels can be a tough sell for some readers, with older writing styles and complex storytelling challenging many modern book lovers. While some people think it's worth it to read the beloved old books, others would rather skip them altogether.

In the case of one coming-of-age novel often found in high school English lesson plans, thousands of readers found the book to be one of the most disappointing reads ever, and that's The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger.

The book was officially ranked in the top five positions on the Goodreads list of most "Disappointing Books." While more recent releases like Twilight by Stephenie Meyer and Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the Westby Gregory Maguire ranked above Salinger's book, the classic took the fourth spot on the list.

The Catcher in the Rye was originally released in 1951, and the story follows a boy named Holden Caulfield as he spends a long weekend in New York City after being expelled from his prep school. The book explores teenage angst, loneliness, and a desire for authenticity and personal identity.

The novel explores a lot of complicated topics and themes through Caulfield's weekend adventure, and there are many different interpretations of the boy's story. While some people see the ending as hopeful, others feel like Caulfield exhibits no real growth by the end of it.

There's not a lot of action in the book, and the end doesn't provide an answer or a big realization that might leave readers feeling satisfied. Overall, it's not hard to see how so many readers might be disappointed in The Catcher in the Rye.

Along with Salinger's well-known novel, there were other classics on the list as well, including The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

The Knockouts concluded tonight for Season 29 of The Voice: Battle of Champions with coaches Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine and John Legend deciding which of their paired teammates will make it through to the semifinals and which one went home.

What differentiates the Knockouts from the Battles is they aren’t duets. Each artist sings solo and rather than a song that their coach selected for them, they have the chance to select their own song. The other difference is that there are no Steals or Saves this season.

Then, The Voice All-Star Showdown began, in which all-stars represent their former coaches as they battle in head-to-head sing-offs. The coach with the most sing-off wins is guaranteed a second finalist in the finale. For this special contest, coaches call upon original Voice coach CeeLo Green to sit in on the competition and determine the winner of each All-Star Showdown. The Late Night With Stephen Colberthas found its successor.

Comics Unleashed With Byron Allen will take over the network's 11:35 p.m. time slot on May 22. The talk show will then be followed by another series produced by Allen, a comedy game show Funny You Should Ask, at 12:35 a.m.

"I created and launched Comics Unleashed 20 years ago so my fellow comedians could have a platform to do what we all love — make people laugh," Allen said in a statement. "I truly appreciate CBS' confidence in me by picking up our two-hour comedy block of Comics Unleashed and Funny You Should Ask, because the world can never have enough laughter."

Comics Unleashed first premiered in 2006 and Funny You Should Asked, hosted by Jon Kelley, premiered in 2017. Comics Unleashed had previously had a limited run on CBS from 2023 t0 2024 after The Late Late Show With James Cordon came to an end. The show then returned to CBS for the 2025-2026 to take over After Midnight With Taylor Tomlinson.

Allen's upcoming arrangement with CBS is unique as The Hollywood Reporter explained that he is buying airtime from the network in exchange that his company, Allen Media Network, can sell any available advertising spots during Comics Unleashed and Funny You Should Ask.

CBS had announced in July 2025 that the Late Show franchise would come to an end and cited the decision as "purely a financial" one.

"The Late Show With Stephen Colbert will end its historic run in May 2026 at the end of the broadcast season," CBS said in a statement at the time. "We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire The Late Show franchise at that time. We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late night television."

The statement continued, "This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount."

Colbert addressed the cancellation during a taping at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York.

It's not just the end of our show, but it's the end of The Late Show on CBS. I'm not being replaced. This is all just going away," he told the audience.

Colbert continued, We get to do this show for each other, every day, all day, and I've had the pleasure and the responsibility of sharing what we do every day with you in front of this camera for the last 10 years. "Let me tell you, it is a fantastic job. I wish somebody else was getting it. And it's a job that I'm looking forward to doing with this usual gang of idiots for another 10 months. It's going to be fun."

What Were the Challenges on 'Top Chef' Season 23 Episode 5?

The Quickfire Challenge had Fortune and Kristen task the chefs with an improv cooking challenge. Fortune brought with her three little girls—Kinsleigh, Wolfe and Anna Cate—to be the extra guest judges.

Based on the kids' answers to some questions, the improv cooking parameters were "Christmas, Colorado and 'Puffified," which was based on Wolfe loving Cheetos. The words were left up to the chefs for their own individual interpretation. And at the last minute, the kids sprung a wildcard ingredient on them: corn nuts. Oh dear.

Jennifer ended up ducking out of the competition because her shoulder is still really bothering her. That's such a bummer.

The least favorite dishes went to Rhoda, Oscar and Sherry. The top 3 dishes were:

• Sieger with his peppermint and white chocolate crema Catalana with corn nuts, puffed sorghum, strawberries and pomegranate seeds.
• Jonathan with his puffified pizza with pita bread, andouille sausage, and cheese "snow" with a blueberry and grape salad on the side.
• Brandon with his Colorado vanilla ice cream with Nutella, corn nut crunch and maple syrup. He was declared the winner and earned $10,000. Top Chef also donated $10,000 to Comic Relief.

The Elimination Challenge tasked the chefs with going to the largest outdoor center in the area, the U.S. National Whitewater Center, which has the largest human-made whitewater river for rafting. The challenge was to create a dish using dehydrated components. They had to dehydrate at least one component themselves in the Top Chef kitchen ahead of the cook at the Whitewater Center.

Top Chef: Wisconsin finalist Savannah Miller joined them for the Elimination Challenge as a guest judge.

The Top 3 dishes of the day went to:

• Sherry with her sea bass and summer cassoulet with smoked kalamata olive crumble, tomato skins and tomato chips.
• Duyen with her coconut-braised pork belly, radicchio, Thai basil chimichurri and rice with dehydrated shrimp and aromatics.
• Anthony with his cured salmon with banga broth and dehydrated smoked oyster-infused rice. He earned Best Dish and he will have immunity next week.

The Bottom 3 dishes went to:

• Laurence with his brassica salad with trail mix, creamy sesame dressing and pomegranate glass.
• Rhoda her roasted monkfish with adobo sauce and dehydrated squid ink and garlic chips.
• Oscar with his lamb chops with grits, asparagus and mole sauce.

However, before the judges decided who to eliminate, they had to speak with Jennifer about her injury. They told her there's no more skipping the Quickfire Challenges and if she chooses to leave the competition, she will be invited back to compete on a future season whenever she wants.

In the end, Jennifer decided to stay in the competition. The judges told her that if she chooses to sit out any competition from here on out, she will be eliminated.

They showed a quick excerpt from the "stew room" where the other competitors told her they would each help her do one item of prep during the Quickfire Challenge. Wow, that is so kind.

The person sent home turned out to be Rhoda, who will now face off with Nana on Last Chance Kitchen.

What Has Susan Lucci Said About Losing Her Husband?

It hasn't been all fun and games for Lucci in recent years. The actress lost her beloved husband, Helmut Huber, in March 2022. In her new memoir, La Lucci, which was released on Feb. 3, Lucci shared that she never fully understood the depth of grief until she experienced it herself.

“I realized that grief is not something you can really understand until you go through it — until you experience it. Until it’s your grief and you’re sitting in the front row at the funeral,” she writes in the new memoir, AARP reported. “I spent the whole month of March with Helmut, and I am forever grateful for the time I had with him every day. I felt lucky to share that time together."

What is Susan Lucci's Health and Wellness Regimen?

Lucci started doing Pilates when she was 40 and has never stopped. But following the fitness regimen also helped her adopt a healthier way of living.

"I continue Pilates for a lot of reasons. Certainly, the results are something that I really like, but it also helps manage stress. There's a great mind, body, spirit connection," Lucci told Yahoo Life back in February. "But also it changed the way I eat. Before Pilates, which I started in my 40s, I was a cheeseburger-, ice cream-, taco-eating girl. Two weeks in, I suddenly didn't crave those things anymore, which shocked me.
