Anthony Norman Reveals Sia’s Surprise Nearly Exposed ‘Jury Duty’ (Exclusive)
Anthony Norman's tenure as a temp at Rockin' Grandma's Hot Sauce included assisting recording artist Sia. The "Cheap Thrills" singer appeared as herself in episode 6 of Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat, after being brought in by the Triukas Group for Rockin' Grandma's talent contest, an event that raised a red flag for the show's unwitting hero.
Speaking exclusively to Parade, Norman recalled, "So me and Jimmy [Jim Woods], we were working on his talent for the talent show, and he was trying to remix an Eminem song. And one of the producers came out, and she was like, 'Yo, we can't do that. It's a small-budget documentary. We don't have the copyright.' And then, like a day or two later, Sia comes and is singing, and I was like, 'Y’all filming Sia. It's not a small documentary."
Before introducing Sia onstage for her performance, Norman was sent to her private guest cabin, where he helped the pop star pick out one of her iconic wigs, even trying on a couple himself.
"It was a cool experience," Norman said of hanging out with the performer. "Being around a star is always fun, and then she's just a sweet lady. She also reminds me [of] Helen [Stephanie Hodge] and my auntie. They're both just like sweet, but they have like that rough kind of angry humor."

Sia's appearance at the retreat was one of "some red flags" for the Nashville native, who believed he had been hired to be a temporary assistant at Rockin' Grandma's. Norman pointed out, "Overall, the jobs that I was doing, they didn't need somebody from Nashville to do that. They could have got somebody right from Agoura Hills [a city in California] and created it."
Despite all the red flags, Norman never got to the point where he wondered whether he was actually on a television show. But, looking back, there were some things he could have questioned, but admitted, "I'm glad I didn't question them!"
Prime Video's Company Retreat is the second iteration of the Emmy-nominated comedy series Jury Duty, which premiered in 2023. While the original, starring James Marsden, was set around a fake trial, Company Retreat centered on a family-owned hot sauce company's retreat, where everyone unbeknownst to Norman was an actor and the entire experience was staged.
Anthony Norman chatted exclusively with Parade about his Rockin' Grandma's experience, including bonding with Dougie Jr. and what he took from the retreat before he learned it was all fake...

Did you recognize any of your Rockin' Grandma's coworkers from different TV projects?
Not at all. It's crazy, looking back, Stephanie was in [The] Suite Life of Zack & Cody, and I loved that growing up... But I do just think it was so long ago, I wouldn't remember it.
It didn't click. Did you go home and Google them all after the show?
[Laughs.] Yeah. For sure. Yeah.
I loved seeing you develop these bonds with all your different coworkers. What made you sympathize with Dougie so quickly?
Just him being vulnerable with me. Him opening up and wanting to share his worry about taking over the company and then just also being in his shoes. Not necessarily saying that I'm taking over [a] company, but just wanting to step up and make your dad proud and just giving it your all and when it doesn't work out, you know, it sucks. And I know that feeling.
In the finale, he said that you guys were brothers for life. Are you still in contact?
Yeah, man. Brothers for life. He was not lying.
Have you hung out since the reunion?
Yeah, yeah. Absolutely. So he actually came to Nashville. And then every time I come out here, we try to do something. And yesterday we went and got a workout in.
I feel like fans loved seeing how passionate you were in that final episode... What got you to that point where you made that dramatic plea to Doug when he was trying to sign the contract?
So actually, at the top of the hill, I'm telling Alex or Dougie, like, you have to go in there and do it, and I'm going to just be there and support you and validate the information that you're providing. So I'm not really thinking anything besides just, you know, show up for him as I'm running down there, and then, you know, he falls down. And I'm like, Okay, well, we got to go, you know, we still got to go in. And in that moment, I'm just thinking, like, how can I get him to really hear me, you know, because I am just a temp, right? So how can I connect with him [in] a way that he'll take the time to actually hear what I have to say.
So in that moment, you didn't expect yourself to be the one stopping the deal? You thought it was going to be Dougie until he-
Yeah, till he fell [Laughs.].

Two pretty insane moments this season were Dougie's "Jerk-Off Sauce" moment, and the "Slum-It to Summit" seminar. Looking back, which was harder to take seriously?
Honestly, I'll probably say it was harder to take the jerk off sauce seriously. The slum-it to summit, I kind of felt bad for him, you know, he was sharing his story, how he struggled with his past and stuff like that. It was very easy for me to really try to tune in and hear what he was trying to say.
Since you said it was harder to take the "Jerk-Off Sauce" moment seriously, what was going through your mind in that moment as you're seeing this all play out?
I definitely felt bad for him in the moment. But honestly, I didn't really, even after I looked at the bottle, I'm like, I mean, I guess it does kind of say jerk off sauce. But I didn't think it was like that crazy of a deal, but the way everybody reacted around me, I was like, okay, maybe he'd really just messed up bad.
What did you think of Dougie's sauce?
It was good. It was good. I liked it.
Did you get to take home any of the prop sauces?
Actually, cool story. They came back around and they were like taking up the bottles because, you know, it was a misprint, or whatever. And in the moment when I saw that they were taking the bottles away, I ran to my cabin with a bottle, like, put it up. I was like, I need this. I was thinking it was a documentary, right? But I was like, you know, the world might see it, so let me just keep this. So I actually stole a bottle before they could take it back up.
Was there a moment throughout the retreat where your instincts were kind of right, but you talked yourself out of it?
Yeah. I'll give you an example, Warren [who plays Steve], I was told it was Warren's birthday. And so my job was to run to the store and like get stuff for them. So I was like, "Okay, let me get him a chocolate cupcake." It was one, just like a bigger one. And, you know, we brought it to him, we sang "Happy Birthday." And then later that day, I was talking to Doug about the cupcake. And he was like, "Oh yeah, I got one of those cupcakes, too." I didn't say this to him, but I was like, "It's just one. I didn't get a bunch." And in that moment, I was like, "What is he talking about?" But I was like, "Maybe it was just a miscommunication or something like that." And I very quickly dismissed it. But looking back, I'm like, yeah, he slipped up.
Whose relationship changed the most, between their character and their real-life counterpart, or have they all been kind of the same? Some of the characters they played were pretty outrageous.
I like to say that they are the characters that we see, but that is just the fun, crazy side of them, right? They show the crazy side of them a lot, and then y'all don't get to experience just regular Dougie, right? Or regular Amy or regular PJ. Those moments, they're very much very similar to who they are to this day.
Anthony and 'Jury Duty' star Ronald Gladden "share a bond"Courtesy of Prime Video
I love that we got to see you and Ronald Gladden come together in that bonus episode, and you guys got tricked again!
Again!
Do you and Ronald feel like you share this unique "Can we trust anything bond"?
In a way. We share a bond that we've both been through this together. Right? I don't think we have trust issues in that sense anymore, but we definitely bond in a way that we've been through something that most people don't.
So you're not questioning things? You trust reality?
[Laughs.] Yeah, for sure. You know, if you do the numbers, the likelihood of it happening to me again or us again, is very, very slim.
Were you surprised to see James Marsden hosting the reunion? And was that your first time meeting him?
Yeah, my first time meeting him. When I realized he rolled under the garage door and he hit it and I just I got up and greeted him almost immediately because it was cool. It was cool to see him.

Have you stayed in contact with him? Has he stayed in contact with you post-reunion?
No, I haven't had the honor to speak with him since.
How have you adjusted to the attention that's come with the show?
I'm still adjusting, but just taking it all in. It's all positives. So just happy and grateful to receive the love.
On the show, you said that your mom thought something was up. Is she like "You should have listened to me"?
[Laughs] Yeah. You should always listen to your mom.
What did she think of the show after watching?
She loved it. She actually came with me out to the premiere, and we watched the first three episodes, and before the end of the first episode, she was crying from laughter and joyful tears.
Every one was an actor except for Anthony, who believed he was being filmed for a documentaryCourtesy of Prime Video
Was there one particular moment that really shocked her? Or was she like, "Anthony, how did you not know?"
I think she was a little shocked that I didn't question too much when Sia came around. Kind of for the same reason that I said, of like, you know, it's a documentary, right? It's just a small documentary. Why would you not question things when they bring in a big star.
I loved Kevin's [talent show] performance, going up after Sia-
I actually appreciated it. To me, I'm an effort guy, so the fact that he went up there and sang his heart out, I was like, kudos to him.
James Marsden said on the reunion that Jury Duty is not a prank show, it's a celebration of someone's character. What do you think this experience says about your character?
I think that it just shows how willing, how much of a team player I am. I grew up playing sports, and my dad always taught buying in, buying into your team. It's not about the name on the back of your jersey, it’s about the name on the front. I think that's one thing that I'm grateful that's highlighted.
What do you envision, if there's a third season of Jury Duty ? How do you think they could pull this off again? What advice would you give to the next person who is going to be in your shoes?
Honestly, I don't know what they could do. But I'll say this, I don't put it past them to do anything. Honestly, I saw there was somebody said [it should be on] a cruise ship. I don't know how you get to the point where you make it an emotional tie on a cruise ship. But I wouldn't put it past them to do it. And then the advice that I would have for the next person, or really everybody in the world, just lead with kindness and compassion and do your best to respect your environment and take care of those around you.

‘Laguna Beach’ Cast Reunites 20 Years Later: Where Are They Now?
When Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County premiered on MTV in 2004, it didn’t just introduce a cast of wealthy high-schoolers navigating life in coastal California—it essentially reshaped reality TV. Inspired in part by the success of The O.C. and shot like a slick teen drama, the series blurred the line between scripted and unscripted storytelling.
Now, 20 years after the game-changing series ended, the Season 1 cast is reuniting for a millennial-pleasing special, The Reunion: Laguna Beach, airing April 10 on The Roku Channel.
“It was a really weird thing we went through,” Lauren says in the trailer. “It’s strange that people showed up at our high school and asked us to do this.”
Today, most of the original cast have long since stepped away from the cameras. But their one-time return to TV proves that the nostalgia, like the drama, still holds up.

Lauren was known for her introspective voiceovers and good-girl persona. But as one-third of the show’s central love triangle (along with Kristin Cavallari and Stephen Colletti), she also brought her fair share of drama.
After the series wrapped, she starred in the spinoff The Hills, which initially followed her as an intern at Teen Vogue, before leaving reality TV behind altogether in 2009. Since then, she launched her LC Lauren Conrad clothing line at Kohl’s and published best-selling books including the L.A. Candy young adult series and Lauren Conrad Style Guide.
“I always looked at reality TV as a temporary thing to make my connections and then go on to my dream,” she told People.
Career aside, she married attorney William Tell in September 2014 and welcomed sons Liam and Charlie in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
Speaking with co-star Kristin Cavallari on Kristin’s podcast, Let’s Be Honest, Lauren said the Laguna Beach reunion will be her last reality TV appearance. "I feel so lucky because, you know, it can go a lot of ways when you've been in entertainment for a long time. And I think a lot of people really miss it. And I didn't. "

Kristin was positioned as the “villain” of Laguna Beach—an edit she’s questioned in hindsight. “We were very young to have our lives manipulated like that,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. Still, she added, “I’m not complaining about it. I’m so thankful for the show.”
Her post-Laguna Beach career has included a stint on The Hills (she joined the show in the middle of Season 5, after LC left), the UPN series Get This Party Started, Dancing with the Stars, The Hills: New Beginnings and her own E! series Very Cavallari, which aired for three seasons from 2018 to 2020.
Reality-TV aside, she wrote her first of several books, Balancing in Heels: my Journey to Health, Happiness, and Making It All Work, in 2016 and launched of her lifestyle brand, Uncommon James, the following year. These days, you can hear Kristin on Let's Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari, a podcast she launched in 2023 after hosting the Back to the Beach rewatch podcast with Stephen Colletti.
On the personal front, Kristin married Jay Cutler in 2013 and split from him in 2020 after welcoming three kids: Camden, 13, Jaxon, 12, and Saylor, 10.
She shared on her podcast that she wants to be “done” with Hollywood by the time her children graduate from high school, if not sooner.
“My celebrity could go away tomorrow and I would be really happy,” she told Bustle. “…I have a set amount of money in my mind, and then I’m done working. I just want to live a chill life. I’ve been grinding since I was 17, and I’m tired.”

After finding fame as the laid-back heartthrob caught between LC and Kristin, Stephen successfully pivoted from reality TV star to working actor. He’s best known for his long-running role as Chase Adams on One Tree Hill, where he appeared from 2007 to 2012, and also co-created and starred in the short-lived series Everyone Is Doing Great. Fans also saw him pop up as the love interest in Taylor Swift’s “White Horse” music video.
On the unscripted side, Stephen has worked as a VJ on Total Request Live and hosted various MTV specials, and in 2022, he reconnected with Kristin to co-host the Back to the Beach podcast.
It wasn’t until 2026 that he returned to his reality TV roots, starring in The Traitors Season 4. “I swore off reality TV for a very long time,” he said. “There was always in the back of my mind an opportunity in a competition-type show, something where I could pop in and have it not be so focused on your personal life.” He was banished in Episode 9.
In his personal life, Stephen married NASCAR reporter Alex Weaver in October 2025 and they’re expecting their first child this year. “It sounds crazy, but I'm ready for my life to be put upside down in that way,” Stephen told People. “I've been watching my wife take on pregnancy and she's been such a superhero, such a bad-ss.”

As LC’s blunt BFF, Lo brought comic relief to Laguna Beach as well as to The Hills. But she ultimately traded reality TV for entrepreneurship. In 2016, following years of troubleshooting her own health problems, she launched Love Wellness, a brand centered on women’s gut, vaginal and hormonal health. The line, which includes supplements and personal care products, has sold in major national retailers like Target, Ulta Beauty and Walmart.
What started as a one-woman operation out of Lo’s apartment turned into a multi-million-dollar business. By the time Lo stepped down as CEO in 2023, the company was bringing in “about $50 million in annual net revenue,” she told The Glossy Beauty podcast in 2024. (She still holds a founder and chairman role at the company.)
“Growing up in the entertainment industry can create a lot of trauma,” she said at ADWEEK’s Brandweek event in 2024. “Building this business, and wanting to tell my real story and who I really am, comes out of this trauma response of being so desperate for people to know me for who I really am.”
Alas, Lo is not part of the Laguna Beach reunion—but for good reason. She just gave birth to a baby girl, Nelle, her first child with businessman husband Dom Natale, whom she married in 2025.

Jessica SmithJessica’s turbulent relationship with Jason Wahler made her one of the show’s more vulnerable cast members during her two-season run. After leaving Laguna Beach, she briefly returned to the spotlight following a 2007 DUI arrest, but has otherwise kept a low profile. These days, she lives in Texas with her husband, Michael Evans, and their four kids.

Dieter was the easygoing friend who somehow managed to stay out of most of the drama. Post-show, he kept things just as low-key, working as a high-end hospitality executive in New York City. He shares two children, Nico, 7, and Leni, 3, with wife Isa.
Taking to Instagram to reflect on the reunion, he wrote in part, “I was born and raised in Laguna Beach and my love for the town is only surpassed by my appreciation for these friendships, many that go back to first grade. These lasting bonds of 30+ years are very unique and as life goes on I appreciate them more and more. The show experience only made them stronger.”

Christina went on to attend the University of Southern California and became a certified fitness instructor back in Laguna Beach. “After graduation, I heard about a position as a fitness instructor and I thought, ‘Hey! I can do that!’ So I went for it, and was hooked!” she shared on her website.
She’s now married with three children.

Now a married mother of two, Lauren left the spotlight behind after Laguna Beach. “Essentially, for me and my reality, I’m living the dream,” she told Us Weekly. “Nothing too crazy or exciting. … I kind of just like having a very normal existence.” She occasionally offers advice on Instagram in a segment she calls “Hoosie’s Hotline.”

The artsy, politically aware senior of the group, Trey always felt a little more mature than the rest. He went on to attend Parsons School of Design in New York City and had a 15-year career in fashion, including many years as an associate designer for Vera Wang, before leaving his long-time profession behind. His new endeavor? An app called Method Cooking, which offers a fresh approach to recipes.
On Feb. 19, 2026, he started a 50-day Instagram challenge wherein he’d give followers updates and reflections on his new venture.
On Day 4, he wrote, "I remember gut-checking myself about changing direction - leaving the safety of being an expert for the unknown of starting from nothing. Especially at 39. But pieces of my old life came with me. Skills in the bag I carry on the journey, like sketching. And as I’ve dedicated myself to this vision, the new skills I’ve picked up are things my old self would never have believed possible. Change brings growth. The unknown brings confidence. The ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Cast Reunites: Where Are They Now?
Nearly two decades after Malcolm in the Middle went off the air, the cast is back together for a revival.
Like the original series, Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair revolves around Malcolm (Frankie Muniz), a genius kid—now grown man—whose chaotic family continues to turn his life upside down.
The four-part limited series, which premieres on Hulu and Disney+ on April 10, 2026, reunites most of the main cast, including Muniz as Malcolm, Bryan Cranston as his bumbling dad, and Jane Kaczmarek as his domineering mom.
Ahead of the premiere, take a look at what the stars have been up to since the show went off the air on May 14, 2006.
The ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Cast: Where Are They Now?Frankie Muniz (Malcolm)As the child prodigy at the center of the show, Muniz carried Malcolm in the Middle for seven seasons, while also starring in movies like Big Fat Liar (2002), Agent Cody Banks (2003) and Racing Stripes (2005).
In the years since the series wrapped, he continued acting, with appearances on shows like Last Man Standing, The Rookie and Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens. But he also shifted gears professionally, pursuing a career as a race-car driver. Now 40, the married father of one competes on the NASCAR circuit in the Craftsman Truck Series and races for the Reaume Brothers Racing team.
Still, the Malcolm in the Middle reboot brought Muniz back to the screen—and he’s glad it did. “It was the first time in my entire life that, when I was done filming the reboot, I was happy to call myself an actor," he told People.
“Not to sound like cliché, but it was as if not a single day went by,” he shared. “All of us—every single person—like instantly fell back into their characters with, I’m talking the first table read.”
Looking ahead, Muniz teamed up with NEO Studios to produce an all-access docuseries—Frankie in the Fastlane (working title)—that will chronicle his lifelong dream of NASCAR racing.
"It’s not something that I thought I would ever do but it happened," he said of his racing career. "And now that I’m doing it, even when I got out of the car this past weekend, I called my wife and I said, ‘This is exactly what I was supposed to do.’ I feel the most comfortable in the car … It just feels like where I’m supposed to be and that’s a pretty cool feeling."

Bryan Cranston (Hal)The cast member with the most dramatic post-show glow-up, Cranston went from playing endearing goofball Hal to starring as Walter White on Breaking Bad, a role that earned him four—count ‘em, four—Emmys.
Since then, he’s starred in films like Trumbo and Argo; taken the Broadway stage for Tony-winning roles in All the Way and Network; and returned to television in shows including Your Honor and The Studio.
But the genre-spanning actor never lost his affection for Hal. “Slipping back into that character of Hal for me was so rewarding—I missed him,” Cranston, 69, said of the revival. “...He’s really a lovable guy, and it was fun to see my whole family back together. It was great.”

Jane Kaczmarek (Lois)For her role as no-nonsense matriarch Lois, Kaczmarek earned seven consecutive Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series—without ever taking home the award (a record).
After the show ended, she starred in the short-lived TNT series Raising the Bar, playing hard-line judge Trudy Kessler opposite Mark Paul Gosselaar, and guest starred on series like The Big Bang Theory, This Is Us and The Changeling.
She’ll next reprise her role as Lois and, from there, have a recurring part in Netflix’s supernatural mystery series The Boroughs, produced by Stranger Things creators the Duffer Brothers.
Meanwhile, off camera, she’s living out a real-life fairytale: In March, she married her high-school sweetheart, Rusty Long, after decades apart and a 16-year marriage to actor Bradley Whitford that ended in 2009. “There’s one Linda Ronstadt song, ‘I think I’m gonna love you for a long, long time,’” Kaczmarek told People. “I mean, for 50 years that song always took me back to Rusty Long.”
Christopher Masterson (Francis)Following his turn as rebellious older brother Francis, Christopher Masterson found a second career as a DJ, performing at clubs and events around the world. He’s also popped up on screen here and there, with guest roles on White Collar and Men at Work, but he's hardly a working actor. Before the Malcolm in the Middle revival, his most recent on-screen role was in the 2019 Netflix thriller Beneath the Leaves.
Off-screen, he married actress Yolanda Pecoraro in 2019, and the couple welcomed a daughter two years later. In 2023, his brother, That ’70s Show star Danny Masterson, was convicted of two counts of forcible rape and sentenced to 30 years to life in prison.
Justin Berfield (Reese)Known for playing Malcolm’s immature big brother Reese, Justin Berfield transitioned from acting to producing after the show ended, co-founding TV-and-film production company Virgin Produced. He also shares two children with his wife of nearly 10 years, Liza Almeida.
After wrapping on Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, Berfield marked the occasion on Instagram. “We’re so lucky that we got to come back to these characters after 20 years and see where they’ve been,” he wrote. “I had so much fun getting to go back to my old life as an actor…now it’s back to carpools and diapers!”
View this post on Instagram Erik Per Sullivan (Dewey)Erik Per Sullivan, who played the quirky and musically gifted Dewey, stepped away from acting entirely after the show and chose not to reprise his role in the revival.
Recalling his conversation with Sullivan, Cranston said on an episode of Fly on the Wallwith Dana Carvey and David Spade, "I talked to Erik and I said, 'Hey, we got the show! It's going to come back.' He goes, 'Oh, that's fantastic!' And I go, 'Yeah, so we're looking forward to having you back.' He goes, 'Oh, no, no, I don't want to do it. But it's fantastic.’”
Offering insight into what Sullivan is up to these days, Cranston added, "He's actually going to Harvard. He's really, really smart, and he's getting his master's at Harvard right now. He said, 'Oh God, no, I haven't acted since I was 9 or something. So I'm not into it.'”
The role of Dewey will be played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark.

Here’s Exactly What Happens to Your Blood Pressure When You Eat Lentils
No one wants to be told that their blood pressure is high. Hearing this means it’s time to make some changes to your diet and overall lifestyle. While medications can play an important role in managing blood pressure, there are a lot of day-to-day factors that can influence your blood pressure and heart health.
You likely already know what this means. It means making sure you’re regularly doing cardio-based exercise (the American Heart Association advocates for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical exercise a week) and going easy on processed meats, salty foods, fried foods and soda.

If you currently have high blood pressure or are actively doing what you can to keep it in a healthy range, you may already know about the DASH diet, which is an acronym that stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. The DASH diet was based on research funded by the National Institutes of Health with the goal of determining which dietary habits were most effective in lowering blood pressure.
The DASH diet recommends eating a diet consisting primarily of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats and some healthy fats. One of the biggest changes that people make when switching from a standard American diet to the DASH diet is eating less meat and more plant-based proteins. Lentils are one plant-based protein that’s a cornerstone of the DASH diet.
If eating lentils regularly is a new habit for you, it’s natural to wonder how eating this one food more impacts blood pressure. We talked to registered dietitians specializing in the DASH diet to find out.

How Eating Lentils Impacts Blood PressureAbbie Gellman, RD, CDN,a registered dietitian and the author of The Mediterranean DASH Diet, says that lentils are a very beneficial food for managing blood pressure as well as supporting heart health overall. One major reason why: its fiber content.
Gellman explains that foods high in fiber support heart health by fighting inflammation. “Eating enough fiber has been linked to lower levels of C-reactive protein, which is used to track inflammation. Lower inflammation is better for the body and linked to a lower risk of heart attack,” she says, adding that fiber-rich foods, like lentils, also help lower LDL “bad” cholesterol as well as decrease blood pressure.
Related: 'I'm a Cardiologist—Here's How To Know When You Should Go on Blood Pressure Medication'
Melissa Caiola, RDN, a cardiovascular registered dietitian with DukeWELL, says that scientific research shows that diets high in plant-based proteins, like lentils, are associated with a lower risk for high blood pressure and heart disease when compared to a meat-centric diet.
“Plant foods contain fiber, vitamins and minerals, and are lower in saturated fat, which in large amounts can increase LDL cholesterol. Adding in some plant-based sources of protein can help to promote heart health and help to stretch your protein budget as they tend to be more cost-effective than traditional animal proteins,” Caiola explains.
When it comes to how eating lentils impacts blood pressure specifically, she tells Parade that they do not impact blood pressure immediately after eating them. “The only food that can significantly affect blood pressure immediately after consuming would be salt. This nutrient can increase blood pressure,” Caiola says.
Related: The Common Blood Pressure Mistake Cardiologists Are Begging People To Avoid
With this in mind, make sure that the lentils you’re buying do not have added salt (which is common in canned foods). “Long-term management for high blood pressure includes a low-sodium diet and the American Heart Association recommends limiting sodium to less than 1,500 milligrams a day,” Caiola says.
If you start eating lentils consistently, both dietitians say it can be beneficial for supporting blood pressure long-term. “Eating lentils in place of meat will increase nutrients like fiber, potassium and magnesium, which can be beneficial in blood pressure management. With this change alone, blood pressure can see improvement,” Caiola says. However, she emphasizes that what matters most is maintaining a nutrient-rich, balanced diet overall.
“The good news is that to reap the benefits of fiber-rich foods like lentils, you don’t need to replace all the foods you enjoy. I suggest adding these nutrient-rich foods to meals you already eat, like soups, chilli and pasta salads,” Caiola recommends.
Other Health Benefits of LentilsWhat’s great about integrating a heart-healthy food, like lentils, into your diet is that your entire body will benefit. Both dietitians say that lentils aren’t just good for the heart; they benefit the gut and brain too.
Scientific research shows that the fiber in lentils increases the amount of good bacteria in the gut, helps lower inflammation and is beneficial for weight management. Additional research shows that the fiber, antioxidants, protein and folate in lentils help lower inflammation in the brain and can even play a role in lowering the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
Gellman and Caiola both say that eating lentils helps keep blood sugar levels steady as well. This means it’s a great food for maintaining balanced energy and mood. Caiola points out that the protein and fiber in lentils help with satiety, helping to stay full longer.
“Lentils, and legumes in general, are a very cost-effective way to pack in nutrition,” Caiola says. As long as you aren’t adding a lot of salt to them when you’re cooking, they’re a great way to support your entire body, including keeping your blood pressure in check.
This is one food your cardiologist will definitely approve of!

On This Day in 1983, 'Casablanca' the TV Series Was Officially Released – And Quickly Canceled After Three Episodes
Nowadays, Casablanca is frequently hailed as one of the greatest American movies ever made, its fame and popularity matched only by the likes of similarly well-loved classics like Citizen Kane, The Godfatheror Gone with the Wind.
With how beloved Casablanca proved to be among international audiences, it should hardly come as a surprise that studios sought out various ways to capitalize on the movie's success.
What is surprising is how downright disastrous the end results turned out to be, as seen through the short-lived Casablanca TV series that was canceled after just three episodes.
With its first episode airing on April 10, 1983, NBC's Casablanca acted as an outright remake of the original 1942 film starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.
Set in the early days of World War 2, the series (like the film) followed American expat Rick Blaine as he's reunited with a former flame in Vichy France-occupied Casablanca, leading him into conflict with a romantic rival and an iron-fisted Axis officer seeking to assert control over the Moroccan city.
Starring David Soul, Hector Elizondo, Ray Liotta and Scatman Crothers, NBC's Casablanca proved incredibly short-lived upon its debut in 1983. After airing three out of five filmed episodes of the series, the network decided to pull the show due to its poor ratings.
"There’s no good reason to watch this outside of curiosity. The series’ depiction of the time period is only skin deep, and when it attempts to venture out of the politics of the war and into, say, the lives of the local Muslim population, it bites off more than it can chew," wrote one critic from The AV Club. "Casablanca suggests so readily how a good TV series of the film could be made that it’s all the more disappointing that it didn’t succeed.
David Letterman Made a Rare Red Carpet Appearance With His Wife, Regina Lasko, and They’re So Adorable
Comedy legend David Letterman rarely hits the red carpet, but he took a rare spin in front of the camera with his wife, Regina Lasko, by his side.
The iconic comedian, 78, who is known for his beloved shows Late Night with David Letterman and TheLate Show with David Letterman, currently hosts Netflix’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman. Now sporting a lengthy white beard that didn't exist back in his days on late night, Letterman hit the red carpet premiere of Lorne in New York City this week. If Letterman is a rare sight on the red carpet, Lasko is an even rarer one! The notoriously private duo, who share a son, Harry, do their best to avoid the limelight. But when they do step out, they look incredibly sweet together. With his arms wrapped around Lasko, Letterman smiled brightly for the cameras.

David Letterman's New Puppy is So AdorableWhile Letterman and Lasko aren't big on red carpet, they do love hanging out at home with their new pup.
“Old man. New dog,” the legendary late-night host captioned a recent Instagram photo, which showed him sporting lumberjack-esque clothing as he stood outside in the snow with his new furry friend. The tiny dog looked up at Letterman’s face, a sharp contrast to the tall, bearded comedian.

“Watching ‘Wheel’! Sajak looks different,” Letterman captioned the photo, which showed the canine companion draped over his shoulders. The post even got a response from Wheel of Fortune legend Vanna White, who commented, "From one Letterperson to another - that is one cute dog!! 😍."

1980s Iconic Heavy Metal Band Scored Their First No. 1 Album 44 Years Ago Today
On this day 44 years ago, Iron Maiden scored their first No. 1 album withThe Number of the Beast.
Released in March 1982, the band’s third studio album topped the U.K. Albums Chart and was the first to go platinum in the U.S. The record also marked the debut of the band’s new lead singer, a 23-year-old Bruce Dickinson, and the final appearance of late drummer Clive Burr.
View this post on Instagram“The pressure was on the young band as never before,” Louder Sound wrote in October 2023 about the band hunkering down in December 1981 to show up and show out with their new sound.
“But with their backs to the wall, Maiden responded magnificently. Just four months later they emerged with The Number Of The Beast, a record that not only redefined their own career, but also served as a benchmark for every heavy metal album that has followed over the past 30 years,” they added.
Speaking in conversation with the band, the magazine shared more insight into how the album was crafted behind the scenes.

“When we got to the third album we had nothing,” bassist Steve Harris said. “We had to write from scratch. Pressure helps to make you come up with the goods. But you have to go through hell to get there.”
Dickinson responded, “It was quite good, in that way, because I wasn’t going to be asked to sing words that had already been written by [former lead singer] Paul [Di'Anno], or songs Steve had written with him in mind. It was all fresh.”
The album went on to become a defining record for the band, with several singles, including “Run to the Hills” and title track “The Number of the Beast” peaking at Nos. 7 and 18, respectively, on the U.K. Singles Chart, performing incredibly well.
“I remember saying to them when it was finished: ‘This is gonna be a big, big album. This is gonna transform your career,’” Martin Birch, a British music producer and sound engineer, told Louder Sound. “It just had all the magical ingredients: feel, ideas, energy, execution. And I think the response I got was: ‘Oh, really?’”

Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style Exhibit Features Rare Glimpse Into the Royal’s Childhood
In celebration of what would have been Queen Elizabeth’s upcoming 100th birthday, the Royal Collection Trust just debuted a brand-new exhibit, Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life In Style. Not only does the event showcase the royal’s exquisite collection of elegant adult clothing, but it also includes a rare look into her childhood closet.
Sadly, you need to visit England to get an IRL look at the Queen’s first frocks. Royal watchers and fans who happen to take a trip across the pond can catch this show at The King’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace, from April 10 through October 18, 2026. The exhibit features over 300 items from throughout Britain’s longest-reigning monarch’s lifetime. This includes real clothing she wore from birth (1926) through the end of her life in 2022. Notable pieces include her wedding dress (to Philip Mountbatten in 1947) and Coronation dress.
Of course, the Queen’s adult dresses aren’t the only designs on view. You can also catch a glimpse of what the monarch wore in her earlier years, before she became the Queen.
View this post on InstagramElizabeth II’s christening robe is one of the earliest items on display. The future Queen was christened on May 29, 1926, and according to an Instagram post from the Royal Collection Trust, “The Princess’s christening robe was originally created for the christening of Princess Victoria in 1841.” Queen (then Princess) Elizabeth was neither the first nor the last royal to wear this Spitalfields silk and Honiton lace robe. Royal infants donned the dress during christenings for 130-plus years!
Fans flocked to the Royal Collection Trust’s Instagram post, gushing over the dainty dress. One commenter wrote, “It’ll be amazing to finally see the gown in person. It’s such a huge part of royal history!” and another said, “The embroidery looks incredible…I will also look forward to seeing the real thing!”

Applause for the inclusion of these sweet selections poured in (on the Royal Collection Trust’s Instagram post), calling these “Dream dresses” and “Adorable.” One commenter even added her experience with the royal family, “When my child was still a baby the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge came to my old university for a visit. I sewed my child a little dress just like one of these for my child to wear to the event!”
Netflix Star Who Played One of History’s Most Notorious Killers Turns 46
Charlie Hunnam has played heroes and outlaws and everything in between, but at 46, the Netflix star continues to steal the spotlight after landing a disturbing role that challenged his image.
Born on April 10, 1980, the Newcastle upon Tyne native was raised by a single mother who worked as a ballet dancer and as a business owner.
In one interview with Entertainment Tonight, he revealed having an “unpleasant” childhood but said he was grateful for the experience nonetheless.
When discussing a similar emotional connection to his role in King Arthur, the actor recalled the moment that still lingers in his memory.
According to him, he was around 15 when he was severely beaten up by six men, and he almost lost his eyesight.
“My face was swollen, my head got thrown into the window,” he said, adding, “It was a bad scene. I did not like the way it made me feel. I decided that I was never gonna be in that situation again. So I set about learning to fight.

However, that experience helped shape him into the person he is today.
Charlie Hunnam’s Dark Shift from a Conflicted Biker to the Butcher of PlainfieldWith the start of his acting career in the late 1990s, it was his portrayal of Jax Teller in FX's Sons of Anarchy that became his breakout role.
For seven seasons, Hunnam perfectly showcased the charismatic character of the conflicted biker, who evolved from SAMCRO motorcycle club vice president to president, which earned him multiple nominations at the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series.
Following this, he once again wowed viewers with his strong and impressive acting in the 2005 cult classic Green Street Hooligans, followed by a major role in the 2013 movie Pacific Rim and the title role in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
With all the attention it received, it was the Netflix series Monsters that showed the public a different side of Hunnam’s acting spectrum.
In 2025, he played the role of the infamous murderer Ed Gein, known as one of history's most notorious killers.
View this post on InstagramThe third season of the Ryan Murphy-directed series, where the story highlighted Gein’s life, debuted with 12.2 million views in its first three days and ranked second globally, as cited by Variety.
Monster: The Ed Gein Story maintained a strong viewership and reached 20.7 million views in its second week.
To perfectly portray the role, the 47-year-old actor underwent an extreme physical transformation and lost around 28 to 30 pounds in three weeks to highlight the character’s "lithe" appearance, he told People.
The role earned him a Best Actor nomination at the Critics' Choice Award as well as a 2026 Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Limited/Anthology Series.

The World’s First Battery-Powered Cruise Ship Is Finally on the Horizon
For anyone who loves the ocean but worries about the footprint left behind by a massive cruise ship vessel, today’s news from Meyer Werft is a game-changer. The German shipbuilder just unveiled a groundbreaking concept called Project Vision, and it’s essentially the "Tesla of the Seas."
What's even better is that the world’s first-ever 100% battery-powered cruise ship—a sleek, 88,000-ton vessel designed to move through the water with 95% fewer greenhouse gas emissions—isn't just good for the environment, it's also a cleaner, quieter and more beautiful way to sail.
Because the ship runs entirely on a massive battery system, the traditional "funnel" (that giant chimney in the middle of the sun deck) is completely eliminated. Without the need for exhaust shafts, the ship’s architecture opens up in ways we've never seen, offering unobstructed 360-degree views and more space for those quiet, sun-drenched corners we all love.
Plus, without the vibration of heavy main engines, the onboard experience promises to be whisper-quiet—perfect for those peaceful mornings sailing into a Mediterranean port.

View this post on Instagram“We asked ourselves how we can use innovation to reduce CO2 and contribute to decarbonization—not in 50 years, but much sooner,” saidTim Krug from the Meyer Werft Concept Development Group in a press statement.
While the technology is ready to go today, the first of these electric beauties is expected to hit the water in 2031. It’s perfectly timed for the global "Green Port" movement, with over 100 European ports expected to have the high-tech charging infrastructure ready by 2030.
The ship is designed to master typical European routes—like the iconic run from Barcelona to Rome—on a single charge. And for those of us who aren't ready to give up our transatlantic crossings just yet, the design can even be customized as a hybrid to ensure you can cross the "big pond" with the same eco-friendly peace of mind.

Project Vision isn't just a win for the planet; it's a smart choice for the future of luxury travel. It proves that we don't have to sacrifice the "mega-ship" experience or our favorite destinations to be better stewards of the ocean.
By the time 2031 rolls around, your biggest worry won't be the ship's carbon footprint—it’ll just be deciding which 360-degree view to enjoy first.

On This Day in 1925, 'The Great Gatsby' Is Officially Published to Mixed Reviews
With the benefit of hindsight, most literary experts continue to circle a few select titles as the all-important "Great American Novel" at the center of the nation's canon.
While titles like The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Moby-Dick and Uncle Tom's Cabin have long been considered candidates for that prestigious title, many critics also look to The Great Gatsby as the standout example of America's single best literary work to date.
A short but endlessly rewarding story about love, identity, wealth and the American Dream, The Great Gatsby was published on April 10, 1925, serving as author F. Scott Fitzgerald's magnum opus.
While it has long since gone on to become a classic in American literature, most readers and critics back in 1925 viewed The Great Gatsby with a degree of indifference, leading the novel to become both a critical and commercial failure at the time of its release.
As with most of Fitzgerald's work, The Great Gatsby draws on key biographical experiences from the author's life and career, most especially his brief romance to an eccentric socialite, as well as the rip-roaring parties he attended in 1920s Long Island.
Set against the backdrop of the Roaring '20s, The Great Gatsby follows World War I veteran Nick Carraway as he settles into an affluent Long Island community. As he spends time with his new neighbor, the mysterious Jay Gatsby, Nick begins to observe Gatsby's passionate infatuation with his former lover, Daisy, who is married to a cold and condescending "old money" millionaire.
Though critics at the time viewed The Great Gatsby as a disappointment compared to Fitzgerald's previous novels, the book has become the author's most beloved works, acquiring numerous accolades as the decades have gone by.
In addition to being read in over 50% of American schools, the book has ranked favorably on various outlets' lists of the best English-language novels, with the Modern Library ranking it number 2 in its list of the 100 Best Novels of the 20th century and the Library of Congress ranking it number 88 in its list of the "Books that Shaped America."
Amy Schumer Looks More Svelte Than Ever in Skinny Jeans on the Red Carpet After 50-Pound Weight Loss
Amy Schumer has been very open about her weight loss journey, and the comedy queen's transformation was in full force on the red carpet this week.
The actress and comedian, 44, who transitioned from stand-up standout to Comedy Central fame with her beloved series, Inside Amy Schumer, went on to film roles in projects like Trainwreck and I Feel Pretty. In recent years, Schumer has spoken out about her weight loss transformation, including her use of GLP-1 medications like Wegovy and Mounjaro.
Sporting a pair of skinny jeans and a pink cardigan and top, Schumer showed off her 50-pound weight loss at the premiere of Focus Features' Lorne at Alice Tully Hall in New York City. The star was feeling so good, she even shouted out her pilates studio in her Instagram caption.

What Has Amy Schumer Said About Losing Weight?Schumer has previously spoken out on social media about why she decided to lose weight. In a now-deleted Instagram reel, she said she did so to “survive” Cushing syndrome, a condition caused by too much of the hormone cortisol in the body, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
“I didn’t lose 30 lbs, I lost 50,” Schumer explained. “Sorry for whatever feeling it’s giving you that I lost that weight.” She went on to say that she’s now able to play tag with her son, Gene.
She also said that “whatever ends up happening” in her marriage to Chris Fischer has “nothing to do with” her weight loss. “Fingers crossed,” she shared. “He’s the best.”
However, Schumer announced her split from her husband of 7 years shortly after.
What Has Amy Schumer Said About Using Weight Loss Medications? One thing fans can always expect from Schumer is honesty. The actress and comedian has spoken candidly with the press about her health. Back in 2023, she appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and revealed that while she tried using Wegovy several years ago, the side effects were horrific, and she became devastatingly ill as a result. Schumer told Cohen the drug made her “so sick” that she couldn’t even play with her son and had to ditch the medication.
“Like, a year ago, I tried it. I was one of those people that felt so sick and couldn’t play with my son. I was so skinny, and he’s throwing a ball at me and [I couldn’t],” she shared.
More recently, Schumer said she’s been having a “really good experience” with a different drug called Mounjaro.
“My symptoms of being in perimenopause have disappeared. My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy. I want to ‘get down’ more, if you know what I mean,” Schumer shared in a video taken while sitting in her car. “I’m talking about sex.”

Now he's releasing a book about the lion, almost five years later, called The Big Five Save the Lions. He shared the cartoon cover of kids wearing lion-inspired clothing and holding lion stuffed animals on Instagram on April 9.
"This story is very personal to me—it’s inspired by me and my friends, reimagined as kids and superheroes," read part of the caption. "We care about protecting animals and standing up for what matters. The characters are also on the autism spectrum, just like me, and that representation means a lot."
The story is by David and Bonnie Bensur, and Bats Langley created the art. David talked about having synesthesia last season, and he associates numbers with colors. Abbey previously explained this in season 3.
"I'm glad you're learning it from me, Abbey," he told her. She learned what each number and color is to him. That aspect of his autism will be depicted in the book.
The book will be released on August 11. People can preorder the hardcover book on Amazon for $17.99, Bookshop.org, and request it at a library.

Reduce to a single digit, 11 becomes 2, the purest manifestation of lunar wisdom, speaking of your ability to reach personal happiness as a result of your emotional depth and strong connection to the magic of the Moon.
