Sun, 04/19/2026 - 5:42pm

Today co-anchor Sheinelle Jones just marked an emotional first since her husband, Uche Ojeh, died.

On Sunday, April 19, the NBC morning show journalist took to Instagram to reflect on turning 48 and her first birthday since her spouse's death. Ojeh died in May 2025, after a battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

"Hi everyone. ❤️ As I literally sit here—in tears—on an airplane headed home, I think it’s the perfect moment to check in with you," Jones began the update. "Today is my 48th birthday, and to be honest—I can’t stop crying. Thankful tears, painful tears because it’s my first without Uche, and tears full of gratitude reflecting on the last 7 days."

Additionally, the mom of three referenced the book tour for Through Mom's Eyes, telling her followers that she has "never felt so much love in my life."

"Thank you for the prayers and support over the last year," she continued. "I don’t have the words to express how it feels to have SOLD OUT crowds in every city … and what it feels like to take these group photos with your smiling faces. 🥹 Uche loved The Beatles; as I mark the beginning of '48'—I do .. feel the sun. Thank you so so much. 🎂."

Christina Applegate’s Latest Post Floods With Support After Hospitalization News

Sun, 04/19/2026 - 5:40pm

Christina Applegate’s fans will always be in her corner.

Just a few days after news broke of her reported hospitalization, the Dead to Me star’s latest Instagram post has been blowing up with comments.

The post is from the beginning of the month—shared April 2—and is a promotion for her memoir You Will The Sad Eyes. The post features the cover of the book with the message “New York Times Instant #1 Audio Bestseller” under it.

“Thank you for making You with the Sad Eyes March’s #1 New York Times audiobook bestseller,” she wrote in the caption. “I can’t describe how much this means to me. It was important to me to read the audiobook myself and I’m so appreciative of everyone who has listened to my story.”

The post initially received an outpouring of love, but the recent news of her reported hospitalization, more fans decided to comment.

“Just read that you are in the hospital, I hope that you recover soon 💕❤️,” one concerned fan wrote, while another replied, “I came here for the same reason 😥.”

Another shared, “I hope you’re going to be okay and feeling better soon 🙏❤️”

“America loves you, Christina! Sending healing vibes!!” a fourth exclaimed.

RHONYalum Luann de Lesseps even chimed in, leaving four red heart emojis

News of the actress’s reported hospitalization broke Thursday, April 16, with TMZ sharing that the 54-year-old was admitted back in March. It is unclear whether or not she remains in the hospital at this time, or if the reason is related to her multiple sclerosis diagnosis—which she has been open about since her diagnosis back in 2021.

A rep for Applegate did respond to Parade’s request for comment, noting while they “have no comment on whether she is in the hospital or what her medical treatments are,” that the comedian has “had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about, as evidenced in her memoir and on her podcast.”

These 7 ‘Bad’ Habits Actually Signal High Emotional Intelligence, Psychologist Says

Sun, 04/19/2026 - 5:33pm

Reading the headline, you might be a bit confused—having a high level of emotional intelligence is a good thing, right?

Yes! Emotional intelligence is a beautiful (and often underrated) thing. Also known as EQ, it’s the ability to recognize emotions in yourself and others, and to manage your own. Emotionally intelligent people can make others feel seen, validated and safe. They can handle their emotions by utilizing coping skills. A couple of examples of emotional intelligence phrases you might have heard or said include “I’d feel the same way in your situation” or even “I feel XYZ.”

Not all characteristics or habits that highly emotional people share are seen as “positive,” however. Spoiler alert, some are seen as outright rude, flaky or uncaring, when the opposite is true. So, there’s your food for thought: Not all “bad” habits suggest something “bad” about the person enacting them.

OK, we’ve piqued your curiosity enough. What are some “bad” habits that people with high emotional intelligence have, and what’s the psychology behind them? What might those individuals want to consider doing to avoid miscommunication in their relationships? Parade asked a psychologist who specializes in the high EQ population to weigh in.

7 ‘Bad’ Habits That Signal High Emotional Intelligence, According to a Psychologist

MTStock Studio/Getty Images

1. Blunt or highly direct communication

While many people value honesty, they may see being “too honest” in a less positive light. With that said, it’s not all bad.

“This can be labeled as rude, but it’s really an intolerance for ambiguity and an ability to both identify and express what one is feeling,” says Dr. Jenny Martin, PsyD, a clinical psychologist and founder of Gemstone Wellness, a trauma-informed group therapy practice in Chicago.

For those individuals, “honesty is prioritized over passive aggression.”

2. Being “too picky” in relationships

Does your child or friend seem to say “no” to every person they date? That’s not necessarily concerning.

“This can be seen as elitist or closed off, but really, it’s discernment,” Dr. Martin says. “Choosing depth, safety and alignment over proximity or convenience.”

She describes it as being able to see colors others can’t, and not being able to unsee those colors. You know what you want, you know your values and you don’t want to compromise on them.

3. Not reacting immediately in emotional moments

While it may not seem this way at first, a lack of a quick reaction doesn’t mean a person doesn’t care.

“The high EQ person is often able to maintain emotional equilibrium, even in emotionally intense moments,” Dr. Martin explains. “This can read as detached or aloof, but it’s regulation.”

4. Apologizing only once

Women, especially, are trained to over-apologize for everything. That societal conditioning is harmful, and you probably won’t see someone with high emotional intelligence engage in it. Again, that doesn’t mean they're apathetic.

“High emotional intelligence often comes with the trait of stating a fact or feeling once, sincerely, and moving on,” Dr. Martin says. “This can be read as cold or uncaring when, in fact, it is the opposite. The apology is real, thoughtful and honest, but it is not repeated or dragged out.”

Related: 12 Things Confident Women Never Apologize For

5. Leaving conversations or environments early

Sometimes in social settings, we feel a need to “stick it out” at an event or during a conversation to be polite. That’s fair, and someone who doesn’t do that isn’t inherently disinterested, rude or flaky. Dr. Martin understands this habit especially well, noting it often backfires on her clients.

“Many times, people with high EQ will end social plans early, due to their attunement to internal sensory levels,” she explains. “Because they can recognize and act on their internal limits, they are better than the average person in taking care of their needs.”

Further, she considers this habit the “epitome of self-care and regulatory behavior,” which is an extra reason to let go of any shame surrounding it.

Related: What Is the Meaning of an 'Irish Exit'? Plus, Why It's Actually Not as Rude as You Might Think

6. Changing their mind

This habit doesn’t mean a person is flighty or inconsistent.

“It signals cognitive flexibility and the capacity to update one’s ‘operating system’ when new information is provided,” Dr. Martin says.

People are allowed to change their minds, and that can even be a sign of growth and deep, critical thought.

Related: Psychologist Says if You Have These 8 Habits, You Are Highly Emotionally Mature

7. Saying “no”

Again, in our society, over-apologizing is praised—and saying “no” is demonized (or at least discouraged). In reality, it’s OK and even good to say “no” sometimes.

“High emotional intelligence often means being in touch with boundaries,” Dr. Martin says. “The high EQ human keeps their own emotional levels in check before attending to those of others.”

She adds that setting and maintaining boundaries actually serves relationships and is a sign that a person wants to keep the relationship going. Boundaries aren’t selfish, either.

Related: Therapists Are Begging You To Remember This 1 Thing About Boundaries

What To Do if You Have These ‘Bad’ Habits

Do you identify with those habits? You may want to consider taking the following steps, Dr. Martin says, especially if they benefit your relationships and, therefore, you.

Pair your “beautifully strong boundaries,” directness and honesty with warmth

Let the care and kindness you’re feeling show.

“Pairing ‘no’ with a bit of context can go a long way in helping others understand your perspective,” Dr. Martin says.

Tone and timing can also help.

Explain your process

Want to think something through independently before discussing it with another person? Consider saying something like, “I care about this and want to think it through before I get back to you,” Dr. Martin suggests.

Invite feedback from a trusted source

Ask a loved one how your communication style lands.

“High EQ includes updating based on impact, not just intent,” Dr. Martin says.

Really, what this all comes down to is simple, clear communication that can prevent upsetting, unnecessary misunderstandings. High EQ people, hear this: There’s nothing “wrong” with you who are, *and* these few steps can improve your relationships.

The nitrile gloves, on the other hand, come in green and black varieties and are built for heavier-duty jobs around the house and job site. This style offers a much stronger resistance to oils, chemicals and punctures, making them extremely useful for messier gardening tasks where thorns, cuts and harsher chemicals and materials are being used.

While supplies last, shoppers can expect to find sizes medium through extra large in the black nitrile and grey latex styles, with sizes medium and large available in the green nitrile and navy latex styles. And when it's time to clean them between uses, a quick rinse under cool water with a bit of mild soap will do the trick. Just be sure to let them air dry completely, and skip the dryer, since both latex and nitrile coatings hold up best when kept away from heat.

Snag a pair for yourself or as a gift for a friend before they sell out, and while you're there, check out Aldi's three-piece floral quilt set and decorative floral accent rug for more garden-themed essentials.

1984 Classic Ranked Among Best ‘Country Songs of All Time’ Became a No. 1 Hit

Sun, 04/19/2026 - 4:31pm

In April of 1984, The Judds released their tender-hearted country ballad, “Mama He’s Crazy,” a song that gave the Grammy Award-winning mother-daughter duo their first hit and set them on the path to becoming one of the biggest acts in country music history.

RELATED: 1979 No. 1 Hit Ranked Among ‘Greatest Country Songs of All Time’ Became a Timeless Anthem of Forbidden Love

Produced by Brent Maher and written by Kenny O’Dell, “Mama He’s Crazy” captures the vulnerability of allowing that special someone to break through walls of doubt that have been put up in the aftermath of past relationships. At its core, the country classic explores the emotional journey of someone who has likely been hurt before but is now beginning to let their guard down.

The Judds’ Wynonna Juddtakes the lead on the song, singing the narrative as though she’s written a personal letter to her mother, Naomi Judd, who offers harmony throughout the chorus. While pouring out her feelings, Wynonna shows excitement, but also sounds as if she’s seeking validation from her mom, whose opinion seems to matter the most.

Mama, he's crazy / Crazy over me / And in my life is where he says / He always wants to be / I've never been so loved / He beats all I've ever seen / And mama, he's crazy / He's crazy over me,” the chorus goes.

Story Behind The Song

It turns out, O’Dell was inspired to write the song while watching a dramatic soap opera. According to American Songwriter, the midday episode featured a rancher who was upset that someone was trying to build oil wells on his land. So much so, he considered blowing up the entire area. He voiced his frustrations to his girlfriend, who relayed them to her mother.

O’Dell, according to the outlet, described the episode further, recounting that what the daughter told her mother “shocked her, and she was thinking, ‘This guy’s got a short fuse.’ She’s worried about this temper that he has. She says, ‘It scares me. He’s nuts. He’ll go ballistic.’ She said, ‘Mama, he’s crazy.’”

Though the soap opera sparked an idea for O’Dell, he went off the path and, instead, flipped the familiar phrase on its head, transforming the message of the song into something tender and sweet: “Mama, he’s crazy. Crazy over me.”

Success of the Song

“Mama He’s Crazy,” named a top “Country Song of All Time” by various outlets, including Taste of Country, appears on the beloved country music duo’s 1984 debut EP, Wynonna & Naomi, as well as their full-length album, Why Not Me

On Aug. 4, 1984, the song climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Country Songs chart, where it remained for one week, becoming only the second song by a female duo to top the chart, with the other being “I Forgot More Than You’ll Ever Know” by The Davis Sisters

Additionally, “Mama He’s Crazy” kicked off the first of eight consecutive No. 1 singles and 14 hits by the Country Music Hall of Famers, with timeless songs like “Why Not Me,” “Love Is Alive,” “Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout the Good Old Days,” “Turn It Loose,” and others.

Veronica Roth Announces Not 1 but 2 New ‘Divergent’ Books — And They’re Not Spinoffs

Sun, 04/19/2026 - 4:20pm

The world of Divergent is growing, and in ways we never expected. Veronica Roth made the announcement during BookCon 2026, where she marked the 15th anniversary of the book series.

Divergent has often gained comparisons to the world of The Hunger Games, telling the story of how the world has been split into factions. There are three books in the main series, with a fourth fold from Four’s POV. The books were turned into a movie franchise that went completely off book and was never fully completed.

Two New ‘Divergent’ Novels Coming

Roth explained that there are two novels arriving, and they are part of a duology. The first is titled The Sixth Faction, and it will be released on October 6, 2026. The second book in the collection doesn’t have a title just yet.

Haven’t read the original trilogy of books yet? You don’t need to race through them to understand the duology. The nature of the books makes them standalone from the original story. However, they work well as companion novels to further the tale, bringing a Sliding Doors moment.

While we have to wait until October for the first book and February 2027 for the second, there will be an excerpt released soon. Look out for it on April 21, 2026.

Not a Spinoff of the Original Stories

They are not going to be sequels or prequels. Nor are they spinoffs or the same Divergent story told from another character perspective. Instead, we’ll get an alternate timeline of events.

In the YA dystopian novel, Tris was able to pick any faction to be part of. As someone who was “Divergent,” she held abilities of all the factions. She left her home in Abnegation and joined Dauntless, where she fell for Four, another former Abnegation member who also switched and was also “Divergent.”

What if that didn’t happen, though? What if Tris joined a different faction? That’s what we explore in The Sixth Faction, as tragedy strikes at the Choosing Ceremony. Tris still finds herself at the heart of the rebellion, but in a completely different way and without Four by her side. Who is Tris without Dauntless, and would she make the same choice and sacrifice as she did at the end of the original trilogy?

Meghan Markle’s Kids Are the Inspiration Behind Their Mom’s New Candles

Sun, 04/19/2026 - 4:00pm

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent whirlwind trip to Australia included a heartwarming visit to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, the Australian National Veterans Art Museum in Southbank, the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, and so much more. Whew! That’s a tiring four days for sure.

If you missed any of the couple’s trip, Markle just posted a montage of videos, featuring almost every step of the way. So if you were camping in a cave, your WiFi went out, or you somehow managed to scroll over the pretty steady barrage of media shots from the Duke and Duchess’s spree down under, you can catch up right now. Along with the clips, the mom-of-two added the caption “Australia, you have our hearts” to her Instagram post.

View this post on Instagram

While it wasn’t technically a royal tour, the action-packed vacation kind of felt like it. But alas, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are back home stateside and were welcomed with a fanfare (or at least a banner and some well-wishes). It seems like the pair’s two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are the ones who set up the surprise before their famous parents’ return.

Markle recently posted a clip of a stylish “Welcome Home” banner on Instagram. She also added another video, featuring a bag of Tim Tams chocolate cookies, wrapped candies, children’s books, and a note. Presumably, the souvenirs are gifts for the Duchess’s littles.

As her kiddos were welcoming her back, Markle was also quietly releasing a sneak peek into her new As ever Mother’s Day collection—including candles inspired by none other than Archie and Lilibet. The new line, which officially launches on April 22, features the Signature Candle No. 506 (a reference to Archie’s May 6 birth date) and the Signature Candle No. 604 (which corresponds to Lilibet’s June 4 birth date).

Of course, this isn’t the first time Markle’s lifestyle brand has released products honoring her family. As ever’s Signature Candle No. 519 is a loving tribute to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding day, and Signature Candle No. 084 reflects Meghan’s August 4 birth date.

Last month, Markle shared a behind-the-scenes look into an As ever photo shoot. The backyard session included adorable intrusions from both Archie and Lilibet as well as a sweet mommy-daughter moment. She also added a snapshot of herself hard at work arranging flowers on an outdoor table with her daughter hiding out underneath. Adorable!

Where can you get one of Meghan’s new candles? Like everything else from the Duchess’s lifestyle line, you can score these items on the As ever website.

30 Years Later, the Heartbreaking Final Words of This ‘General Hospital’ Icon Still Sting for Fans

Sun, 04/19/2026 - 3:59pm

On April 19, 1996, General Hospital original cast member John Beradino made his final appearance as Dr. Steve Hardy after more than three decades on the series.

Beradino had been part of the show since its premiere on April 1, 1963, portraying Steve Hardy, the Chief of Internal Medicine at General Hospital in Port Charles.

In his final episode, Steve visits the hospital and shares a tense exchange with his son, Dr. Tom Hardy (Matthew Ashford), questioning his role and future at the institution. “Is it so unreasonable for me to assume you could take over the hospital when I step down?” he asks.

Beradino’s final line on the show comes during the exchange, as Steve pointedly asks when his son will finally grow up. “Seems like never,” he says before storming out.

One month later, it was announced that Beradino had died at the age of 79 following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

The character of Steve Hardy was written out shortly afterward. On July 15, 1996, Tom discovered his father had died of a heart attack in his office, leading to a memorial attended by family, friends and colleagues.

When General Hospital celebrated its 30th anniversary, Beradino spoke with Variety about the show’s early days. “I figure they wouldn’t make it, but I might as well get some money,” he said.

Beradino explained that the original pilot, titled "The Emergency Hospital,” was not picked up. “They rewrote the show, called it ‘General Hospital,’ and recast it with me and Emily McLaughlin,” he recalled.

He also noted that he was given a five year contract, something he said “was unheard of” at the time.

During his time on the series, Steve had multiple romances, but it was his relationship with Audrey March (Rachel Ames) that resonated most with viewers. The pair married three times between 1965 and 1977.

Steve had two children: Jeff Webber (Richard Dean Anderson) with his ex Helene Webber and Tom Hardy, his adopted son with Audrey.

For his portrayal of Steve Hardy, Beradino received three Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series.

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC and streams weeknights on Hulu.

Maureen McCormick, the Original Marcia Brady, Just Reunited With ‘Brady’ Movie Star Christine Taylor

Sun, 04/19/2026 - 3:32pm

Maureen McCormick and Christine Taylor have one very special thing in common: They both played Marcia Brady.

McCormick, 69, skyrocketed to fame on the original Brady Bunch series, which aired from 1969 to 1974 on ABC and became an international phenomenon. Taylor, 54, who is married to Ben Stiller, later tackled the role of Marcia in 1995's The Brady Bunch Movie and 1996's A Very Brady Sequel. With that special role in common, it's such a delight to see the dynamic duo reunite for a sweet selfie together. On McCormick's Instagram page, the blonde beauties snapped a photo and celebrated, in true Brady style, the ultimate "sunshine day."

"Marcia! Marcia! Marcia’s! It’s a Sunshine Day 🎶🌼🌈☀️💖🦋 My heart is so full! I love and adore you @stillceej 💓 😘xoxo," McCormick captioned the fun photo.

How Long Has Maureen McCormick Been Married?

McCormick and her husband, Michael Cummings, have been married for 41 years. They wed in 1985 and welcomed a daughter, Natalie, in 1989, PEOPLE reported.

"I saw those eyes and just fell in love," said Cummings, with McCormick sharing, "Ever since I was little I wanted to get married and find somebody. It's just the craziest thing, but I looked at his eyes, we were in a concert, and I just felt like he was the one."

McCormick has also previously shared that Cummings had no idea she was a famous actress when they met, “which was very refreshing for me, because [he had] no pre-conceived ideas about who I was. So it was really wonderful.”

In honor of their 41st anniversary back in March, the couple shared a sweet photo from the Imagine Mosaic in New York City.

"Happy 41st Anniversary Michael. Imagine…I can, I will, and I do. Through the good times and the hard times we have made it through together. Thank you for being by my side on this amazing journey. You are the reason… I love you! Xoxo," McCormick captioned the touching photo.

The 'Old Money' Scarf Trend That Elevates Any Outfit Instantly, According to Stylists

Sun, 04/19/2026 - 3:21pm

If there’s one style taking over right now, it’s the triangle scarf trend—and no, not in a loud, "fad-surfing" manner. It’s showing up in the way the best style pieces always do: subtly and across completely different outfits. Draped over blazers, tied at the neck, wrapped into hair, even styled as tops—it’s less about one specific look and more about the effect it creates.

And that result is what people are calling “old money” style. Not because it’s flashy or expensive, but because it feels chic without trying too hard. Think: polished, a little undone and rooted in pieces that have always existed rather than something new.

What makes the triangle scarf stand out is how low-effort it is compared to the payoff. You’re not rebuilding your outfit—you’re just adding one layer that pulls everything together.

“Triangle scarves are a great accessory because they can elevate your look without a huge amount of time, effort or expense,” says personal and celebrity stylist Patrick Kenger.

And right now, as fashion continues to lean into softer, more wearable styling, that kind of versatility is exactly what people are reaching for. Parade spoke with a few celebrity stylists, and they gave us the rundown on how to wear a triangle scarf, including seven outfit ideas.

Related: These Are the 7 Best Jean Colors for Spring 2026, According to a Celebrity Stylist

Why Choose the Triangle Scarf Trend?

Part of the appeal comes down to shape. Unlike rectangular scarves that require folding or adjusting, triangle scarves already do the work for you.

“A triangle scarf is a great styling tool that makes it easy to accessorize any outfit,” says stylist and fashion designer Jamie Lewin, who is also the former Senior Global Design Director for Gap and the founder of Vetted Mag. “It’s already in a great shape for styling, so you don’t have to bother folding it.”

That built-in structure also makes it more flattering. “The points of the triangle help create a chic, polished look without adding a lot of bulk,” adds Kenger. Instead of overwhelming an outfit, it frames it—especially around the neckline and shoulders.

There’s also a practical side to it. As Lewin points out, it’s one of those rare accessories that works across seasons. You can layer it in colder weather or use it more lightly in spring and summer without it feeling out of place.

Are Triangle Scarves in Style?

Very much so—but not in a way that feels overly trendy.

“Triangle scarves are having a real moment right now,” says Roberta Flanagan, a London-based fashion stylist and the founder of The Style Strategist. “They sit somewhere between a classic and a trend piece, which is why they work so well—they instantly elevate an outfit without feeling overdone.”

That balance is what gives them that “old money” energy. They don’t demand attention, but they do make everything else look better.

“They give that ‘styled but not trying too hard’ energy that everyone is leaning into right now,” Flanagan adds.

At the same time, they fit naturally into the softer, more relaxed styling we’re seeing across fashion.

“Triangle scarves work nicely into the soft, ‘comfy’ trends we’re seeing right now,” says Kenger, noting that they’re especially useful for transitional weather when layering becomes less predictable.

How To Wear a Triangle Scarf

The easiest way to think about styling a triangle scarf is to treat it like a finishing touch rather than the main event.

“Triangle scarves can be draped, tied or knotted around the neck for a quick on-the-go option,” says Kenger. That alone is enough to shift an outfit from basic to more considered.

But if you want to push it a little further, there are plenty of options.

“You can wear them on your head, tie them around your waist or even add one to your bag,” says Flanagan. “If your scarf is long enough, you can also tie it around your waist for a chic ‘scarf belt’ detail.”

Anna Italiano, fashion stylist and co-founder of Juliana’s Boutique, also points out that they’re especially useful when your outfit feels slightly off.

“They can easily add the texture and layers that instantly spice up or synthesize your outfit,” she tells Parade. “They can be real lifesavers if you find yourself either too dressed up or too casual.”

In other words, it’s less about following one formula and more about using the scarf to balance whatever you’re already wearing. Here are some cute ways you can wear a triangle scarf.

7 ‘Old Money’ Triangle Scarf Outfit Ideas, According to Stylists1. With an oversized blazer, white tee and relaxed jeans

Moritz Scholz/Getty Images

This is the easiest entry point—and arguably the most wearable version of the trend. A simple outfit like jeans and a T-shirt can sometimes feel a little flat, which is exactly where the scarf comes in.

“With an oversized blazer, white T-shirt and relaxed denim, the scarf adds polish without making it feel too formal,” says Flanagan.

It creates that in-between space where the outfit feels styled but still effortless.

2. Layered over or under a trench coat

Edward Berthelot/Getty Images

This is where the “old money” aesthetic really comes through. A trench coat already carries that classic, tailored feel, and the scarf builds on it rather than competing.

"Layered over or under a trench coat with tailored trousers, it creates a clean, elevated everyday look,” Flanagan explains.

The scarf adds softness to the structure, which keeps the outfit from feeling too rigid.

3. Wrapped around the shoulders

Christian Vierig/Getty Images

Instead of tying it, this approach is more about placement.

“To uplevel your look, consider wrapping the scarf around the shoulders and fastening with a hidden pin or a vintage brooch,” says Kenger.

That small detail shifts the scarf from casual to something more intentional. It also adds dimension, especially if the rest of the outfit is more minimal.

4. Styled as a headscarf

Moritz Scholz/Getty Images

This is one of the most classic ways to wear a triangle scarf—and one of the most impactful.

“Scarves made of lighter fabric like cotton or silk can go around the head to form a head scarf or be rolled up to form a headband,” says Kenger.

It instantly adds a sense of polish, especially when paired with simple clothing. Wilfree Vasquez, a celebrity stylist who has styled celebs like Cher and Selena Gomez, adds that she loves vintage denim, a white tank and a scarf worn on the head for a relaxed, off-duty look. Italiano adds that your hairstyle matters here, too.

“For a triangle scarf to truly shine, consider hairstyles that keep your hair out and away from your neck,” she says, like a bun or ponytail.

5. Tied around the waist as a scarf belt

Edward Berthelot/Getty Images

This is a slightly less expected way to wear it—and one that feels more current.

“You can tie it around your waist like a belt,” says Lewin. “Wrap it around your waist and tie it on one side so the triangle lies on the opposite side—instant outfit upgrade.”

It works especially well over dresses or even layered with denim to add a bit of movement.

6. Paired with a slip dress

Melodie Jeng/Getty Images

If your outfit already leans soft or minimal, the scarf can add contrast.

“Paired with a slip dress and boots, it adds texture and a bit of dimension,” says Flanagan.

It keeps the outfit from feeling too one-note while still staying within that understated, polished aesthetic.

Related: 7 Best Dresses for Women Over 60, According to Professional Stylists

7. As a summer top with jeans

Pablo Cuadra/WireImage

For warmer weather, the triangle scarf can actually become the outfit.

“With the triangle lying in front, tie the scarf at the back like a strapless top,” says Lewin. “Pair it with jeans and sandals for a cool summer look.”

It’s a more playful take on the trend, but still feels aligned with the same effortless styling.

Broadway Legend Admits He Was 'Secretly' Drinking for Years Amid 'Alcoholism' Battle

Sun, 04/19/2026 - 2:51pm

Legendary composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, 78, opened up about his long battle with alcoholism on April 18, admitting that he was "drink[ing] secretly" for years despite telling people he stopped. That all changed a little over a year ago when a "desperate" moment made him seek help and quit for good.

“I am a recovering alcoholic,” he said in a vulnerable interview with The Times. “Sixteen months ago I decided that I needed help and it’s the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Lloyd Webber, who is known for composing some of Broadway's most famous musicals like Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, said he originally quit drinking while working on the School of Rock musical in 2016, but he "was doing what they call ‘white-knuckling,’ without any backup,” and he quickly fell off the wagon.

The iconic impresario became insecure that sobriety might be stifling his creative process, so he quietly began drinking again—and trying to hide it. "I thought, ‘But I’ve said to everybody that I’m not drinking.’ So I started to drink secretly,” he explained. However, it was more obvious to others around him than he thought.

“You think it’s secret, but it’s not. Everybody knows,” he said. “It was about the ludicrous lengths you go to, the hiding and the pretending."

Lloyd Webber knew he needed to get help when, about 18 months ago, he reached rock bottom. "I started getting into a downhill spiral and about 18 months ago the family were in a desperate state," he explained. "My wife was feeling she couldn’t go on.” Lloyd Webber has been married to equestrian Madeleine Astrid Gurdon since 1991, and he wasn't willing to throw his 35-year relationship away to continue drinking.

He checked himself into a rehab, which he found ineffective, before having a "life changing" experience in a 12-step program. Now, he attends meetings daily, and wears two leather bracelets that remind him of his five children. “I look at them and they stop me drinking,” he shared.

Now, Lloyd Webber recently launched his new show Cats: The Jellicle Ball, and is working on two more musicals. He feels "lucky" every day for his sobriety.

“When you’re not drinking you think, ‘My God, how lucky am I?' ” he said.

Nancy Guthrie Update: Retired FBI Agent Weighs in on Tommaso Cioni Amid Ongoing Accusations

Sun, 04/19/2026 - 2:29pm

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing after her Feb. 1 abduction in Tucson, Ariz.—and a retired FBI agent just weighed in on Savannah's brother-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, amid ongoing accusations.

On Sunday, April 19, retired FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer shared via X her verdict of Savannah's sisterAnnie Guthrie's husband.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Coffindaffer explained that Cioni is from Italy but has been in the U.S. for more than 20 years and married Annie in 2006. He teaches sixth-grade biology and is in a band in Tucson called Early Black.

"Tommaso looks the part. I swear to goodness, I think that that is a big reason why people just want to blame Tommaso," the former FBI special agent pointed out. "Some people might think he looks really handsome, like his wife, Annie. And some people might think he looks ominous. He has an ominous look about him."

Additionally, Coffindaffer addressed the idea that Cioni is "Porch Guy"—the masked individual in doorbell camera footage from Nancy's front porch.

"It's so absurd to me. But nevertheless, people want to say that that's a fact—that he's Porch Guy," she shared. "There is no physical corroboration when you look at porch guy's face that we can see, when you look at porch guy's mannerisms, when you look at how he walks compared to Tommaso. There's nothing there to compare."

"People want to say that he is involved because—and literally this is all they have—because he was the last to see Nancy," Coffindaffer continued, of Cioni being one of the last to see her on the night of Jan. 31 before she went missing on Feb. 1. "Well, let's be clear. He was not the last to see Nancy...No, porch guy, minimally, and others were the last to see Nancy alive."

She then asked, "Why would Tommaso Cioni, who was her caretaker, who saw her often, all of the time—they had these Sunday dinners together—why? There's just nothing for them to gain."

Recently, Coffindaffer also defended Annie amid relentless accusations against her as well.

In February, a little over two weeks after Nancy went missing, her family members were all cleared as suspects in her disappearance. "The family has been nothing but cooperative and gracious and are victims in this case," a statement from Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a statement shared via X.

It continued, "To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is cruel. The Guthrie family are victims plain and simple."

Nancy was last seen at her Tucson residence on the evening of Jan. 31. The PCSD (with the FBI later joining) launched the search on Feb. 1. As of writing, no suspect has been named, despite Savannah offering a $1 million reward for information leading to her mother's recovery.

♬ How Great Thou Art - Loretta Lynn

Lynn recorded the hymn for her fifth studio and first gospel album, Hymns, which peaked at No. 10 on Billboard's Hot Country Albums and stayed on the chart for 17 weeks. Though never released as a single, “How Great Thou Art” endures as a quiet standout in the country legend's vast discography.

The origins of “How Great Thou Art” go back even further. The hymn started as an 1885 Swedish poem by Carl Boberg, inspired by a thunderstorm and a calm moment, according to American Songwriter. Over time, it was translated and set to music, reaching Americans in the 1950s through George Beverly Shea, a soloist for evangelist Billy Graham’s crusades.

By then, the song was already becoming one of the most recognized hymns worldwide. Later recordings — from Elvis Presley’s Grammy-winning 1967 version to Carrie Underwood’s 2011 chart-topping cover — introduced it to new generations.

Now, it’s Lynn’s version enjoying renewed attention. It shows that even the quietest recordings can experience a powerful second life.

Sun, 04/19/2026 - 2:14pm

If you've been watching Boston Blue and hoping to see Donnie Wahlberg'sBlue Bloods father, Tom Selleck, make an appearance in the spinoff, this might give you some hope. Wahlberg, who played Detective Danny Reagan on the beloved CBS cop drama from 2010 to 2024 before reprising the role for Boston Blue starting in October 2025, shared how Selleck really feels about making a comeback.

“Tom supported me doing [Boston Blue]," he told Us Weekly at CBS Fest on April 15. "When the time is right, I’m sure we’ll find something to do together [on the show]."

But would Selleck reprise his iconic role as Frank Reagan, who appeared in all 293 episodes of Blue Bloods, or do something new? "[He] may want to play [Frank again], [or he] may not," the New Kids on the Block singer teased.

Wahlberg says it all "will really depend on the timing, the situation, and the script most of all," to determine the capacity in which Selleck would return. "But we’ve had other members of the cast of Blue Bloods on [Boston Blue]," he continued. "It’s been incredible. We had Grandpa Reagan [a .k.a. Henry Pop Reagan played by Len Cariou.] We have a few surprises before the season ends of other Reagans. It’s so great.”

The actor added that "it would be lovely to have Tom," but fans will have to be patient and stay tuned. "It would be wonderful. But when the time is right. Until then, onward.”

Selleck, who famously starred in TV series like Magnum, P.I. and Friends, and films like In & Out, Quigley Down Under, and the Jesse Stone TV movies, has had a busy few years. He wrapped Blue Bloods in 2024, the same year he released his memoir You Never Know: A Memoir.

Though he seemed to take a little break from acting with only an untitled Jesse Stone project currently in production, the Emmy and Golden Globe winner recently signed with United Talent Agency, signaling intentions for a big comeback in the near future. We'll just have to wait and see if that includes Boston Blue!

Boston Blue airs on CBS on Fridays at 10/9c, and has already been renewed for season 2.
