Guy Fieri Drops Surprise 'Tournament of Champions' Season 8 Announcement During TOC VII Finale
As Tournament of Champions crowns its season 7 winner tonight, fans are already looking ahead to what’s next for one of Food Network’s biggest competition series.
Here’s what we know so far about a season 8, which host Guy Fieri seemed to confirm during the season 7 finale. Be warned of spoilers ahead if you haven't watched the finale.

Is ‘Tournament of Champions’ Renewed for Season 8?As of now, Food Network has not officially announced whether Tournament of Champions will return for season 8. However, at the end of the season 7 finale, Fieri seemed to confirm its return next spring with his parting words to the runner-up. Again, spoilers ahead!
After the winner was revealed, Fieri said to runner-up, "Chef Kevin Lee—heart, determination, hard work, drive, fight, all of it, packaged into one. What an incredible achievement. I know without a doubt you will be back for season 8. I look forward to seeing you in competitions in the future."
Why a Season 8 Feels Like a Sure ThingIn addition to Fieri's comment, Tournament of Champions remains one of Food Network’s flagship events, built around its March Madness-style bracket, blind judging format, and high-stakes competition. It consistently draws top-tier culinary talent and has become a cornerstone of the network’s early-year lineup.
Season 7, in particular, raised the stakes even higher. For the first time in the show’s history, a male chef is guaranteed to win the title—marking a major shift after six seasons of dominant female champions.

The season also introduced the ambitious “Secret Culinary Icon” twist, bringing in legendary chefs as surprise No. 1 seeds: Ming Tsai, Lorena Garcia, Jonathan Waxman and Aarón Sánchez.
Unfortunately, only Lorena made it past the first round, so the secret icon twist probably didn't play out quite how Guy Fieri and the Food Network imagined, but it was still really fun and I hope they bring it back for season 8.

Will ‘All-Star Christmas’ Return Too?Another big question: could the holiday spinoff come back?
The success of Tournament of Champions: All-Star Christmas suggests Food Network may have found a new annual extension of the franchise.
The special featured team-based competition and charity stakes—a different flavor from the main tournament, but one that clearly resonated with viewers.
If the network is looking to expand the TOC brand, a second installment of the holiday event feels like a natural next step.

When Would 'Tournament of Champions' Season 8 Premiere? If Tournament of Champions follows its established pattern, a potential season 8 would likely premiere on a Sunday night in late February or early March 2027.
The show has consistently occupied that late-winter window, positioning itself as Food Network’s version of a bracket-style championship event that airs at the same as the NCAA March Madness basketball tournaments.
Between its strong performance, evolving format, and expanding universe—now including special events like All-Star Christmas—the series remains one of the network’s most reliable hits.

1971 Hit Ranked ‘Greatest Rock Song of All Time’ Became a Timeless Anthem
The 1971 rock masterpiece “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin continues to stand as one of the most celebrated songs in music history.
First released on Nov. 8, 1971, as part of the band’s untitled fourth studio album, Led Zeppelin IV, the track has been repeatedly ranked among the greatest rock songs ever recorded. Even decades later, it remains a powerful anthem that still dominates radio requests, music polls and fan rankings around the world.
The song was created by guitarist Jimmy Page, with lyrics written by vocalist Robert Plant. Though it was never released as a commercial single in the United States, it became one of the most played and most recognized rock songs in history. At the time of its release, it quickly grew beyond just an album track and became a cultural landmark in rock music.

“Stairway to Heaven” is known for its unique structure, which builds gradually from soft acoustic music into a powerful rock finale. It begins with gentle finger-picked acoustic guitar and recorder sounds, creating a calm and almost dream-like opening. As the song progresses, it slowly introduces electric instruments, increasing in intensity.
The final section transforms into a fast, hard rock explosion, highlighted by Jimmy Page’s famous guitar solo and Robert Plant’s soaring vocals. The song ends softly with the unforgettable line:
“And she's buying a stairway to heaven”
This three-part musical journey helped define what many listeners now consider a perfect rock composition. The song runs over eight minutes and is widely described as progressive rock, folk rock, and hard rock combined into one piece.
The idea for the song began in 1970 when Page and Plant stayed at Bron-Yr-Aur, a remote cottage in Wales. Page developed the music from recorded ideas and guitar fragments, while Plant wrote many of the lyrics by improvising during writing sessions at Headley Grange in England.
Recording took place between late 1970 and 1971 at Island Studios and Headley Grange. Despite its complex sound, the song was created with a surprising amount of simplicity in studio time. Page and the band focused on layering instruments and building texture rather than heavy editing.
Even without being released as a single, “Stairway to Heaven” became a radio favorite and cultural phenomenon. It was one of the most requested songs on FM radio in the United States and has been played millions of times since its release. By 2000, it had logged over 3 million radio plays.
The song has also received major recognition in music rankings:
- Ranked #3 on VH1’s “100 Greatest Rock Songs” (2000)
- Ranked #31 on Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” (2004)
- Later ranked #61 on the updated Rolling Stone list (2021)
- Named #1 Greatest Guitar Solo by Guitar World readers (2006)
Its guitar solo, performed by Jimmy Page, is often praised as one of the best in rock history. The song is also the best-selling piece of sheet music in rock, with over one million copies sold.
In 2023, the Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Recording Registry, recognizing its cultural and historical importance.
Despite its popularity, the band refused to release it as a single. Manager Peter Grant believed the album should be experienced as a whole, leading fans to buy Led Zeppelin IV in full just to hear the song.
Today, the song remains a symbol of classic rock’s golden era and a defining moment in music history. Its emotional build, powerful lyrics, and unforgettable guitar work continue to inspire both new listeners and long-time fans.
Even after decades, “Stairway to Heaven” is more than just a song; it is a lasting anthem that still feels alive every time it plays.

'Love on the Spectrum' Star Abbey Romeo Tasting Banana Foster at the Celebrity Chef Gala Is Every Millennial Ever
There’s something instantly relatable about watching Love on the Spectrum star Abbey Romeo approach a perfectly plated Banana Foster at a celebrity chef gala. What begins as a simple, earnest desire—"I just want to take one little bite of a banana"—quickly broke out into a spontaneous throwback performance.
"Uh-huh that's my sh*t, all the girls stomp your feet like this," she sang. And just like that, she became a one-woman time machine, transporting everyone watching straight back to the mid-2000s. And we're certainly stomping our feet along.
View this post on InstagramThe lyric Romeo burst out comes from "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani—a track that was absolutely everywhere when it dropped in 2005 as part of Stefani's debut solo album, Love. Angel. Music. Baby. Built around its unmistakable stomping beat, cheerleader-style chants, and that now-iconic "B-A-N-A-N-A-S" hook, the song became one of the defining anthems of the era. It topped the Billboard Hot 100, dominated the radio, and was famously one of the first songs to sell over a million digital downloads in the early days of iTunes.
In other words: It's deeply embedded in millennial muscle memory.
If you're a millennial, the moment hits on a cellular level. Because this is what we do. We don't just experience things; we soundtrack them. A bite of dessert isn't just a bite of dessert; it's a cue. A trigger. A reason to dip into the mental jukebox of pop hits, club anthems, and radio staples that have permanently wired themselves into our brains.
Whether it's belting out a chorus in an unsuspecting store that's playing "oldies but goodies," quoting lyrics mid-conversation with a friend, or turning any mundane moment into a full-on performance, millennials have mastered the art of living life like it's scored by a playlist (or, rather, like by a burned CD labeled with a Sharpie).
Romeo's taste test unfolded during the 19th Annual Autism Speaks Celebrity Chef Gala, an event designed to celebrate inclusion, creativity, and community through food and storytelling in honor of Autism Awareness Week. The evening brought together renowned chefs, advocates, and guests, including Romeo, for a night of curated dishes, fundraising, and spotlighting voices from the autism community.
In a room full of fine dining and polished conversation, Romeo gave millennials a reminder that is all too often forgotten: It's okay to be a little unserious, a little nostalgic, and a little theatrical. The best times from back in the day, anyway, were the spontaneous ones, weren't they?
Katy Perry Posts FaceTime Photo With Daughter Daisy Amid Ruby Rose Drama
If it seems like Grammy Award winnerKaty Perryis all over your social media feeds, you probably aren't alone. Recent sexual assault allegations made by Australian actor Ruby Rose have put the “Dark Horse” singer in the spotlight. But despite the obvious stress of these accusations, Perry looks like she’s taking everything in stride.
While most people know Perry as a pop star, the performer is also mom to Daisy Dove Bloom (with ex Orlando Bloom). And even though she has a demanding schedule, it looks like Perry still has plenty of time to connect with her kiddo.
In a recent Instagram post, Perry shared photos from a trip abroad, captioning the carousel “Just Rome’ing around.” So yes, the punny statement means she’s vacationing in Rome. Along with several selfies and a few cute video clips, Perry posted a screenshot of herself FaceTiming with Daisy.
View this post on InstagramPerry and her child’s father, Orlando Bloom, rarely post pictures of their daughter. But when either of them reveals some of the more magical moments from their five-year-old’s life, they always cover her face. In this case, Perry uses a shark emoji to hide Daisy’s head.
Even though Perry is fiercely private about her child, this certainly isn’t the only time she’s shared a photo of her daughter. The singer does occasionally share a glimpse of her family’s life with the public.
Earlier this April, Katy included a snapshot of Daisy playing with a massive Lite-Brite. This follows a now-viral video of the little girl singing one of her famous mama’s tunes (“Women’s World”) from the back seat of the car. Fans flocked to the post, showering Daisy with praise. One commenter gushed, “Daisy is singing Women’s World! That just melted my heart!” and another said, “We’re lucky to live in Daisy Dove’s world.”
View this post on InstagramAlong with this pic, Perry also posted a video of herself at the famous Trevi Fountain, singing, “Someone get me a penny.” Adding some levity to her current situation, Perry floats her credit card in the water, saying, “I feel like I need to put something in the Trevi Fountain for good luck.”
So, what took Perry to Italy? There may be a clue in the carousel. Katy also includes a video that appears to be from a performance. And yes, Perry did have a show during her trip to Rome. According to reports, the footage of her belting out “The One That Got Away” while wearing a chic pair of black tuxedo pants and a sparkling silver bandeau bikini-style top was from a private event.
Why This ‘Beyond the Gates’ Clue Suggests The Impaler Has Been Hiding in Plain Sight All Along
Smitty (Mike Manning) and Jacob (Jibre Hordges) may have cracked the case of ‘The Impaler’ before the first body even dropped. While fans are scanning every new face for a villain, a subtle conversation at Orphy Gene’s back in February may have already provided the blueprint for the season’s biggest reveal.
In the February 10, 2026, episode, Smitty and Jacob discussed what they believed to be the structure of the Impaler’s organization during a scene at Orphy Gene’s.
During the scene, Smitty outlines what he believes is the organization’s hierarchy, explaining that at the top sits “The Impaler,” whom he describes as “brutal.”
He then identifies a potential “Underboss,” suggesting the role could be filled by a blood relative, noting that criminal organizations often keep leadership within the family. Jacob agrees, adding that “trust is currency.”
The third tier includes Ren Tolliver (Donny Carrington), whom Jacob has already encountered. Smitty describes him as a mid-level figure with connections throughout the city, someone “loyal to a fault” and willing to protect those above him.
According to Smitty, Ren oversees the “soldiers” responsible for carrying out orders, including those tasked with procuring blood, while couriers operate at the lowest level of the organization.
Since that episode, viewers have been introduced to additional members of the organization, further expanding the mystery.
Jacob, operating undercover as Rishad, begins working for Ren as a courier. During one pickup, he identifies lab tech Grayson Perez (Jordi Vilasuso) as a member of the organization.

All Rights Reserved.Grayson has also been seen interacting with his boss, chief of staff Lia Whitmore (Cecelia Specht), who appears to have connections to the organization, raising the possibility that she could fit the “Underboss” role described earlier.
If the ‘Underboss’ must be a blood relative as Smitty theorized, Lia’s professional polish may be a front for something much darker. Is she a grieving wife returned from the dead, or possibly the long-lost sister of a notorious soap villain.

With little known about his backstory, another theory is whether Lia is his presumed-deceased wife.
As Jacob gets closer to uncovering the truth, the identity of The Impaler remains a mystery, but the structure outlined early in the storyline may prove to be one of the show’s biggest clues.

1970 Timeless Ballad Became a No. 1 Smash Hit
In 1970, a song hit the airwaves that didn't just top the charts, it captured the spirit of a generation.
"War," performed by Edwin Starr, became a No. 1 smash hit on the Billboard Hot 100, transforming a bold political statement into a mainstream success.
Written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong, the same duo behind the beloved hit, "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," the song delivers a direct and unapologetic message about the realities of war. Its now-iconic refrain, "War, what is it good for?" became an instantly recognizable line, reflecting widespread public sentiment during a time of global conflict amidst the Vietnam War.
Unlike many songs of the era, "War" didn’t rely on subtlety. Its driving rhythm, urgent vocals and confrontational lyrics made it impossible to ignore. Starr's powerful delivery gave the track an emotional intensity that resonated deeply with listeners, helping it stand out as both a protest anthem and a chart-topping hit.
Originally recorded by The Temptations, the song was later reworked for Starr, whose version amplified its raw energy and urgency. The decision paid off, as the track quickly climbed the charts and became one of Motown's most impactful releases.
"It was necessary to understand and appreciate the lyrics,” he later said in an interview. "I was given the opportunity to record the song, but I made the stipulation that I must record it with the feeling that I thought was right for it, and I was given that privilege to do so."
However, speaking out against the war didn't come without repercussions.
"I got a little heat for it," recalled Starr. "While the song was number one, I never did any work at all. I mean, there was very few places where you could go and sing, 'War – what is it good for' in the political atmosphere of the United States."
The song went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, and more than five decades later, "War" remains one of the most iconic protest songs in music history. Its message continues to feel relevant, and its influence can still be heard in socially conscious music today.
The song's success proved that music could be both commercially successful and politically powerful, a combination that helped define an era and cemented Edwin Starr's place in music history.

Tina Fey Says She Now Sees She 'Was on the Wrong Side' of Certain ‘SNL’ Jokes: 'I Was Pretty Dumb'
Tina Fey is reflecting on certain jokes on Saturday Night Live covering heavier current events.
Fey admitted at History Talks on Saturday, April 11, that there were certain jokes during her time on SNL that she was "on the wrong side" of.
“I started there in 1997, and I was there when we had to come back for the first show after September 11 and try to figure out what that show could be," she recalled. “I think I was around but upstairs the day that President Bush came by to meetWill Ferrell. I was there when there was anthrax in the building. The longer I was there, I realized that the show’s relationship to current events, it became a thinner and thinner veil.”
Fey continued, “They say something, we say something back, they come over, they go, ‘Oh, we want to be on it too.’ It’s a thrilling and almost scary thing to have this idea that something you say will be heard by person in charge. I mean, I’ve made jokes, but also, I was pretty dumb and not much better now, but there’s jokes that I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, I was on the wrong side of that.'”
Fey also commented on audience perceptions of SNL's influence in politics and current events.
"Sometimes, people will ask me or ask others, ‘Does SNL try to control the narrative and politics?’ And they really do not. And also you really can’t. If it’s not true, it will not be funny," she said.
Fey spoke at Philadelphia's Kimmel Center for History Talk's event honoring the nation's 250th anniversary. Fey was joined by stars such as Nicole Kidman, Ted Danson, Kate McKinnon, Colin Jost and more.
Dick Van Dyke, Carl Reiner, and Mel Brooks Reunite in Never-Before-Seen Throwback Footage
A newly shared throwback video is giving fans a rare look at three comedy legends enjoying each other’s company.
On Sunday, April 19, Dick Van Dyke’s wife Arlene Silver posted behind-the-scenes footage from a 2015 photoshoot featuring her husband, Mel Brooks, and Carl Reiner.
“2015 Degrees of baldness with Dick Van Dyke ,Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner ❤️ Andy Gotts 📸,” she captioned the Instagram post.
The playful clip shows Brooks seated in the center while Van Dyke and Reiner stand on either side, laughing, teasing one another during the shoot.
The footage was filmed during a portrait session by photographer Andy Gotts and also served as a mini reunion of sorts tied to The Dick Van Dyke Show. Reiner famously created and wrote the beloved series, which ran from 1961 to 1966 and starred Van Dyke as Rob Petrie.
Reiner and Brooks, meanwhile, shared an iconic creative partnership. Their legendary “2000 Year Old Man” routines from 1975 became classics, while both men had lengthy Hall of Fame careers in television and film.

The resurfaced footage also carries added emotional weight. Reiner died in 2020 at age 98, while Brooks, now 99, remains one of the last living links to a golden era of comedy. Van Dyke, who recently turned 100, continues to delight fans with his humor and regular social media appearances on his wife’s Instagram.
And fans loved the peek at the rare footage, leaving comments like “One word: Legends 🤘👏,” and “A great group.”
Brooks also isn’t slowing down creatively. The comedy legend is returning to one of his most beloved franchises with Spaceballs: The New One, the long-awaited follow-up to the 1987 cult favorite. A first look was unveiled at CinemaCon in April 2026, where Brooks appeared in a teaser announcing the official title.
“I have a major announcement: Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money is not going to be the title of this movie,” he joked. “Why not? Because after all these years, I found the money.”
Bestselling Author’s Novel Ranked Among the Best Books to Read in Kindle Unlimited
Kindle Unlimited subscribers have access to millions of free-to-download books, so sometimes it’s hard for readers to narrow down their options. Luckily, there are experts with can’t-miss recommendations already on hand.
The Amazon Editors compiled a list of their Kindle Unlimited picks for Amazon Book Review, with Story of My Life by Lucy Score ranking among their favorites.
Amazon Editor Abby Abell noted that she was “sold” by the romance novel being described as “a Gilmore Girls meets Schitt’s Creek redemption rom-com.”
Of the main character’s satisfying arc, Abell wrote, “I couldn’t help but cheer for down-on-her-luck Hazel to make a glorious comeback in life and love. This is everything you want from a small-town romance.”
Story of My Life has been in Kindle Unlimited since its March 2025 release. The No. 1 New York Times bestselling first novel in Score’s Story Lake series follows romance author Hazel Hart, who moves to the idealistic small town of Story Lake, Pennsylvania, amid an ongoing case of writer’s block caused by her divorce. There, she finds inspiration for her next big hit via grumpy contractor Campbell Bishop. When the two fake-date as research for Hazel’s work-in-progress novel, their feelings begin to expand beyond the page.
Readers who enjoy Story of My Life can immediately continue the series with its follow-up novel, Mistakes Were Made, which is also available in Kindle Unlimited. Released in March, the second book centers around Hazel’s best friend and agent, Zoey Moody, and Cam’s brother Gage Bishop. In the opposites-attract story, the chaotic Zoey and by-the-book Gage can’t deny their spark after he becomes her landlord. Mistakes Were Made also spent several weeks on the New York Times bestsellers list.

Earlier this month, Score, 46, announced the third Story Lake book, titled Just One More Chapter, will be out on March 9, 2027. The final novel in the series will focus on the third Bishop brother, Levi. Although his love interest has yet to be confirmed, Score promised via Instagram that the book “brings the laughs and the feels to wrap up the series.”
Score is the author of numerous popular books in Kindle Unlimited. Her series include Knockemout (featuring the fan favorites Things We Never Got Over, Things We Hide From the Light and Things We Left Behind), Blue Moon, Riley Thorn, Benevolence and Bootleg Springs, while she also has standalone novels such as By a Thread, Forever Never, Rock Bottom Girl, The Worst Best Man and Maggie Moves On.
In addition to Story of My Life, 2023’s Things We Hide From the Light and Things We Left Behind as well as 2024’s The Body in the Backyard (from the Riley Thorn series) are Editor’s Picks on Amazon.
Score has previously spoken about the impact of Kindle Unlimited on her career, revealing in a September 2024 Facebook post that “it is the reason I was able to become a full-time author way back in 2015.”
Elsewhere in the social media upload, Score shared that Things We Never Got Over is the most-read romance in Kindle Unlimited history and in the top 10 most-read books in the entire library, calling the milestone “momentous” and “unbelievable.”
“This happened to me because you happened to me,” she told her fans at the time. “You picked up my books and made sure everyone else did too. You make dreams come true by opening a book. I am forever grateful to you for your generosity and support!”

But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game... by sending Briana a letter.
And it’s a really good letter. Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn’t actually Satan. Worse, he might be this fantastically funny and subversively likeable guy who’s terrible at first impressions. But after one incredible and seemingly endless date, Samantha is forced to admit the truth, that her family is in crisis and any kind of relationship would be impossible. Samantha begs Xavier to forget her. To remember their night together as a perfect moment, as crushing as that may be. Only, no amount of distance or time is enough to forget what's between them. She and Chris are great friends, co-parenting a slightly unhinged rescue Yorkie, sharing their favorite books, and judging bread (pumpernickel for the win!). For the first time amid all her side hustles to scrape by, things finally feel easy," the book description reads. "But she didn’t choose Chris to drive her home all those months ago—she went with his best friend, and he became her boyfriend. All Chris wants is for Larissa to be happy. Standing by on the sidelines is slowly killing him, but making a move would destroy someone else."
9. ‘A Married Little Christmas' (2026)A Married Little Christmas is a collection of three novellas.
Book description: "Anna thought only the food would be a disaster at her Christmas dinner--until her high school ex shows up and they quickly have to hatch a fake-dating scheme to save face with their families. For Matty, the idea of sitting in a diner all day dressed as a zombie Santa after losing a bet has zero appeal. But his cute and funny server might just make him change his mind. And finally, will Lauren be able to convince her best friend that getting married after a three-day relationship is absolutely ridiculous? Or will the town called Little Christmas pull her in with its happily-ever-after magic once she meets the best man?"

1. 'Part of Your World' (2022)2. 'Yours Truly' (2023)3. 'Just for the Summer' (2024)Do You Have To Read Abby Jimenez's Books in Order?TikTok user @delaneylynnesmith, who describes herself as a "superfan" of Jimenez's writing, weighed in on one question that a lot of Jimenez's readers always ask: Do you have to read her books in order?
"Both (The Friend Zone) series and her later series are interconnected standalones, which
means any of these books can be read as a standalone. They can be read out of order," she began saying in her video.
The TikToker went on to say that reading the books in order does help them feel like a proper series.
"For example, The Friend Zone is mainly about Kristen and Josh, but we meet the main characters in the Happy Ever After Playlist in TheFriend Zone. So Sloan, the main character in the Happy Ever After Playlist, is the best friend of the female character in TheFriend Zone. See how they link like that? But they can still be read by themselves," she said.
The TikToker also said the "reverse is also true."
"So we'll see the earlier characters show up in the later books, and that's where you border on getting spoilers if you read them out of order. But the spoilers are relatively minor if you want to read them in a random order. However, I do recommend reading them in the recommended order," she said.
What Is the Best Abby Jimenez Book To Start With?Jimenez's books can be read in the order of their release or can be read as standalone books. If you want the full experience without any potential spoilers, it's best to start with The Friend Zone.

Ryan Reynolds Says He's 'Never Been More Proud' of Blake Lively Amid 'It Ends With Us' Legal Battle
Ryan Reynolds is showing support to his wife Blake Livelyamid her ongoing legal battle with It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni.
Reynolds was interviewed forToday's Sunday Sitdown on Sunday, April 19, where he shared what his family has been going through during the ongoing legal dispute between Lively and Baldoni.
"You really see the illusion behind so much of this stuff, digital life versus real life. Really, without getting into too much, I have never in my life been more proud of my wife,” he said. “People have no idea what is really going on. I’ve never been more proud of someone in my life, with that level of integrity that they bring with them in everything they do."
The legal dispute between Lively and Baldoni began in Dec. 2024, when Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni where she alleged that he sexually harassed her on the set of It Ends With Us. Lively also alleged that Baldoni constructed a retaliatory smear campaign to "destroy" her reputation.
Baldoni has denied all allegations against him as Lively is seeking more than $160 million in damages. A countersuit against Lively and Reynolds for $400 million was filed by Baldoni alleging defamation and breach of contract. Baldoni's countersuit was dismissed in June 2025.
On Thursday, April 2, U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed 10 of Lively's 13 claims against Baldoni including sexual harassment. However, her allegations regarding a retaliatory smear campaign will move forward to trial.

Dick Van Dyke, 100, Has Priceless Reaction To Trying Apple Product for the First Time
Dick Van Dyke is proving once again that charm never goes out of style.
The beloved Hollywood legend’s wife, Arlene Silver, shared a throwback video from 2015 on Sunday, April 19, showing the actor trying an iPod for what appeared to be the very first time—and fans are loving the wholesome moment.
The clip, which was shared on Instagram, shows Van Dyke, now 100, seated with headphones on, carefully listening as he tries to identify the classical music playing through the device. He would have been about 90 years old at the time.
“I know this piece,” he says. Silver responds, “Glen Gould, variations,” referencing the iconic album from the ‘50s. Van Dyke then quickly figures it out, replying, “Yes, the Goldberg Variations.”
Silver points toward the iPod screen and adds, “It says it on there, it says it on here, it will say the name of it.”
She captioned the post simply: “2015 mister’s first ipod,” which got a bunch of sweet comments from fans.

“He has such joy! I love that!’ one noted.
Another shared, “Your love is so pure and beautiful- you make each other happy 🌹.”
“I’m so glad I found your channel. You guys make me happy,” said a third.
The lighthearted moment offers another glimpse into the relationship between the longtime couple, who married on leap day in 2012. The pair first met years earlier at the SAG Awards, where Silver, 54, was working as a makeup artist. Despite their age difference, the two have frequently spoken about their strong connection and shared sense of humor.
Earlier this year, the couple celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary with a cozy social media video filmed from bed. In the clip, Silver introduced her husband to viewers before Van Dyke joked, “I’m not really shorter, I’m just lying down on the bed,” later adding, “Hi, she’s mine!”
Van Dyke, who turned 100 this year, remains one of entertainment’s most beloved figures thanks to classics like Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and, of course, The Dick Van Dyke Show.
And while he may have spent decades mastering song-and-dance routines, seeing him figure out an iPod with genuine curiosity might be one of his best performances yet.

'Tournament of Champions' VII Finale Live Updates: And the Winner Is…
History is about to be made on Tournament of Champions VII. For the first time ever in the main event, a man is going to win. All previous winners have been female: Brooke Williamson in season 1, Maneet Chahaun in seasons 2 and 5, Tiffani Faison in season 3, Mei Lin in season 4 and Antonia Lofaso in season 6.
The matchups tonight could possibly see a finals made up of two TOC veterans who have never taken home in a win in the main event: Jet Tila and Bryan Voltaggio. But first, Jet will have to get by Kevin Lee and Bryan will have to take on the season's surprise dark horse Kenny Gilbert.

Beware of spoilers ahead: Don't keep reading if you don't want to be spoiled.
Before the first cook, host Guy Fieri told the chefs that the Randomizer choices this week are "unconventional," which is saying a lot considering that the Randomizer always has at least a few unconventional options.
We quickly find out that the "style" choices are all colors this round and there are some crazy wildcard ingredients.
The judges this week are Mei Lin, Cat Cora, Brooke Williamson and newcomer judge David Chang.

Matchup 1: No. 2 Jet Tila vs No. 3 Kevin LeeRandomizer categories: Salmon belly for protein, cauliflowermushrooms for produce, banana leaves for equipment, white for style and an ostrich egg for the wildcard ingredient. That feels super hard. How are you supposed to have white be the predominate color with salmon? Cover it with a white sauce, maybe? Luckily the cauliflower mushrooms are pretty light in color, but after you cook them, what color will they be…?
All semifinal cooks are 45 minutes.
Dishes: Kevin decided to make Hoe-deopbap, which is a Korean sashimi dish with vegetables. He made a salmon belly Hoe-deopbap with mushroom rice. Jet prepared Donburi, which is a Japanese rice dish with fish and vegetables, plus an ostrich egg omelet.
Winner: By a score of 83 to 81, Kevin moved on to the finals! Jet once again remains a bridesmaid.

Ooof, that was hard to watch. It truly came down to Kevin playing hard to the Randomizer because Jet won by a point on taste, but Kevin won by two on Randomizer and one on presentation.
You know, I once saw a Facebook comment that said this show was rigged in favor of the women, which is total garbage for two reasons. First, because from what I know about TOC's production, Guy Fieri has made it absolutely beyond reproach in terms of secrecy and true blind judging. And two, if it were rigged, the show would have gotten Jet a win this year because it is heartbreaking to watch him get so far and not advance to the finals year after year after year.

Matchup 2: No. 3 Bryan Voltaggio vs No. 8 Kenny GilbertRandomizer categories: Chicken livers for protein, kohlrabi for produce, spaetzle maker for equipment, pink for style and crown melon for the wildcard ingredient. This Randomizer feels much easier than the last round.
Dishes: Bryan made chicken-fried chicken liver with a soubise and pickled kohlrabi and crown melon along with a kohlrabi-top yogurt sauce and pink spaetzle. Kenny went with Szechuan chicken livers with kohlrabi and beet puree and sauteed spaetzle.
Winner: They both crushed it, the scores were super high. By a score of 94 to 88 (!), Bryan is in his first finals of TOC's main event. In fact, he hasn't competed since season 3 because in both seasons 2 and 3, he lost in the first round.
I wonder if cooking with his brother Michael on All-Star Christmas gave Bryan a better idea of how to "play the game," because that is something Michael is very, very good at (even though Michael also had a pretty terrible TOC track record until All-Star Christmas).
Related: Valerie Bertinelli Unveils Big New Project After Food Network Exit
The Final Matchup: No. 3 Kevin Lee vs No. 3 Bryan VoltaggioFor the finals, the Randomize is going "extreme," which means each "style" has two dishes and each dish must include the protein, the produce and use of the equipment. Wow. Then the wildcard will be an envelope—one, two or three envelopes—and each envelope will contain another requirement. Woof. They do get a whole hour to cook, but that is still a lot to get done in one hour.
Also, Kevin called himself the "underdog," which makes sense in terms of experience, but he actually has a better track record on TOC than Bryan does.
Randomizer categories: Live King crab for protein, fresh water chestnuts for produce, pressure cooker for equipment (that's tough because crab does not need a pressure cooker), and then Breakfast & Dinner for style. They lucked out on one envelope for the wildcard feature and the envelope they chose said "sticky."
Dishes: Kevin decided to make King crab juk (porridge) for his breakfast dish and Korean-fried King crab for his dinner dish. Bryan went with King crab grits for breakfast and tempura-fried crab leg for dinner.
Kevin looked to be in the weeds at one point because he burned his rice in the pressure cooker, so he had to pivot to microwave rice and pressure cooker crab, which was fraught because that could really overcook the crab. Yikes.
Winner: Based on how the cooks went and the judges' comments, I expected Bryan to run away with this win but it was a one-point score differential. They tied on presentation and on use of the Randomizer, so it came down to one point on taste, 40 to 41.
The final score was 84 to 83 in favor of Bryan! Bryan Voltaggio finally won a solo cooking competition! I can't help but wonder if Michael will come back to TOC for the first time in a while (he lost to Brooke the first three seasons in a row) because his brother won.

What's Next For 'Tournament of Champions'?No official renewal announcement has happened yet, but Guy Fieri, who is an executive producer and creator in addition to being the host, basically confirms it at the end of the season 7 finale. It's an extremely popular Food Network show that attracts the best talent from across the country, so it's no surprise that the network wants to keep TOC rolling.
In fact, it has proven so popular that in the fall of 2025, the network aired the standalone season Tournament of Champions: All-Star Christmas, which added the fun pair dynamic plus a charitable aspect. I would also not be surprised if All-Star Christmas returns in fall 2026 as part of the network's holiday programming slate.

We did the full size for her day bed and folded it so the ruffle was at the floor. Also pictured are the Target matching sheets, throw blanket and pink stripe pillow. Only reason I took one star away is the quality of the comforter is only so, so. 1984 Hit Record Was Just Ranked 'the Best Album' of the '80s
The 1980s are known for the strides made in music. While there are a countless amount of incredible records that were released in the '80s, Collider managed to narrow down the top 10 best albums from the era in a list, published on April 18.
The ranking included hits like the 1986 album Master of Puppets by Metallica, The Smiths' The Queen is Dead from 1986, Michael Jackson's 1982 record, Thriller, The Cure's Disintegration, released in 1989, and Kate Bush's 1985 album, Hounds of Love.
Collider named Prince and the Revolution's 1984 record, Purple Rain, as the "best album of the 1980s." The publication reported that the album deserved the title because the record is consistently good, with no filler.
Members of The Revolution Discussed Making the 'Purple Rain' Album and Movie in a 2017 InterviewCollider reported that Prince wrote the Purple Rain album for his 1984 film. Prince starred in the Purple Rain film, written by Albert Magnoli and William Blinn, alongside the Revolution, which consisted of Doctor Fink, Lisa Coleman, Bobby Z.,Wendy Melvoin, and Brownmark. In a 2017 interview with Yahoo, the Revolution shared some insight into creating the Purple Rain album and appearing in the Purple Rain film. According to the band's drummer, Bobby Z., Prince, who died in 2016 at the age of 57, had members of the film's crew join the band during their 1982 tour.
"On our 1999 tour, he had people observing us on the bus. All of the sudden, there was strangers on the bus, like, getting jokes and learning our personality. And it was like a Big Brother kind of a shadowing thing and all this data and information was being gathered about us to create characters," explained Bobby Z.
He also said that Prince and the band went through acting and ballet classes to better their performances as fictional musicians in the Purple Rain movie.
In addition, Bobby Z. said that Prince "prepared for" the Purple Rain record "in a way that he never did any other album," which includes 1980's Dirty Mind, Controversy from 1981, and 1982's 1999.
"He had to. Because the film slowed him down and that created time for him to reflect. On most albums, he was done in two to three weeks. But Purple Rain, he had to stew for about six months," explained Bobby Z. in the 2017 interview. "And he really had to think about it. He could replace tracks. He came up with beautiful ones at the last minute. There was things that happened that made it what it is today. And it was forced patience on him."

These 7 ‘Bad’ Habits Actually Signal High Emotional Intelligence, Psychologist Says
Reading the headline, you might be a bit confused—having a high level of emotional intelligence is a good thing, right?
Yes! Emotional intelligence is a beautiful (and often underrated) thing. Also known as EQ, it’s the ability to recognize emotions in yourself and others, and to manage your own. Emotionally intelligent people can make others feel seen, validated and safe. They can handle their emotions by utilizing coping skills. A couple of examples of emotional intelligence phrases you might have heard or said include “I’d feel the same way in your situation” or even “I feel XYZ.”
Not all characteristics or habits that highly emotional people share are seen as “positive,” however. Spoiler alert, some are seen as outright rude, flaky or uncaring, when the opposite is true. So, there’s your food for thought: Not all “bad” habits suggest something “bad” about the person enacting them.
OK, we’ve piqued your curiosity enough. What are some “bad” habits that people with high emotional intelligence have, and what’s the psychology behind them? What might those individuals want to consider doing to avoid miscommunication in their relationships? Parade asked a psychologist who specializes in the high EQ population to weigh in.
7 ‘Bad’ Habits That Signal High Emotional Intelligence, According to a PsychologistMTStock Studio/Getty Images
1. Blunt or highly direct communicationWhile many people value honesty, they may see being “too honest” in a less positive light. With that said, it’s not all bad.
“This can be labeled as rude, but it’s really an intolerance for ambiguity and an ability to both identify and express what one is feeling,” says Dr. Jenny Martin, PsyD, a clinical psychologist and founder of Gemstone Wellness, a trauma-informed group therapy practice in Chicago.
For those individuals, “honesty is prioritized over passive aggression.”
2. Being “too picky” in relationshipsDoes your child or friend seem to say “no” to every person they date? That’s not necessarily concerning.
“This can be seen as elitist or closed off, but really, it’s discernment,” Dr. Martin says. “Choosing depth, safety and alignment over proximity or convenience.”
She describes it as being able to see colors others can’t, and not being able to unsee those colors. You know what you want, you know your values and you don’t want to compromise on them.
3. Not reacting immediately in emotional momentsWhile it may not seem this way at first, a lack of a quick reaction doesn’t mean a person doesn’t care.
“The high EQ person is often able to maintain emotional equilibrium, even in emotionally intense moments,” Dr. Martin explains. “This can read as detached or aloof, but it’s regulation.”
4. Apologizing only onceWomen, especially, are trained to over-apologize for everything. That societal conditioning is harmful, and you probably won’t see someone with high emotional intelligence engage in it. Again, that doesn’t mean they're apathetic.
“High emotional intelligence often comes with the trait of stating a fact or feeling once, sincerely, and moving on,” Dr. Martin says. “This can be read as cold or uncaring when, in fact, it is the opposite. The apology is real, thoughtful and honest, but it is not repeated or dragged out.”

5. Leaving conversations or environments earlySometimes in social settings, we feel a need to “stick it out” at an event or during a conversation to be polite. That’s fair, and someone who doesn’t do that isn’t inherently disinterested, rude or flaky. Dr. Martin understands this habit especially well, noting it often backfires on her clients.
“Many times, people with high EQ will end social plans early, due to their attunement to internal sensory levels,” she explains. “Because they can recognize and act on their internal limits, they are better than the average person in taking care of their needs.”
Further, she considers this habit the “epitome of self-care and regulatory behavior,” which is an extra reason to let go of any shame surrounding it.

6. Changing their mindThis habit doesn’t mean a person is flighty or inconsistent.
“It signals cognitive flexibility and the capacity to update one’s ‘operating system’ when new information is provided,” Dr. Martin says.
People are allowed to change their minds, and that can even be a sign of growth and deep, critical thought.

7. Saying “no”Again, in our society, over-apologizing is praised—and saying “no” is demonized (or at least discouraged). In reality, it’s OK and even good to say “no” sometimes.
“High emotional intelligence often means being in touch with boundaries,” Dr. Martin says. “The high EQ human keeps their own emotional levels in check before attending to those of others.”
She adds that setting and maintaining boundaries actually serves relationships and is a sign that a person wants to keep the relationship going. Boundaries aren’t selfish, either.

What To Do if You Have These ‘Bad’ HabitsDo you identify with those habits? You may want to consider taking the following steps, Dr. Martin says, especially if they benefit your relationships and, therefore, you.
Pair your “beautifully strong boundaries,” directness and honesty with warmthLet the care and kindness you’re feeling show.
“Pairing ‘no’ with a bit of context can go a long way in helping others understand your perspective,” Dr. Martin says.
Tone and timing can also help.
Explain your processWant to think something through independently before discussing it with another person? Consider saying something like, “I care about this and want to think it through before I get back to you,” Dr. Martin suggests.
Invite feedback from a trusted sourceAsk a loved one how your communication style lands.
“High EQ includes updating based on impact, not just intent,” Dr. Martin says.
Really, what this all comes down to is simple, clear communication that can prevent upsetting, unnecessary misunderstandings. High EQ people, hear this: There’s nothing “wrong” with you who are, *and* these few steps can improve your relationships.
