’60s Legend With Rare EGOT Status Turns 84

Fri, 04/24/2026 - 7:49pm

Barbra Streisand, one of Hollywood's legendary stars and a rare EGOT achiever, is celebrating another major milestone.

As the award-winning icon turns 84, here’s a look back at her distinguished accomplishments over her decades-long career.

Born on April 24, 1942, she began her career as a singer in Manhattan nightclubs when she was 18, while also acting in off-Broadway and Broadway theaters in productions like The Boy Friend and I Can Get It for You Wholesale.

The 1960s were a pivotal time for the young Streisand after winning a talent contest, marking her television debut on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Not long after her TV appearance in 1961, she signed a contract with Columbia Records, followed by the release of her debut studio album, The Barbra Streisand Album, in 1963.

The album, which features a collection of cabaret-style songs, peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Top LPs chart and eventually earned her her first Grammy Award.

The singer won Album of the Year and Best Female Vocal Performance for The Barbra Streisand Album at the 6th Annual Grammy Awards.

While continuing her fame and success in music at full speed, she also dominated television and Broadway with her role in Funny Girl.

At the time, CBS offered the then-23-year-old the chance to have her own TV special and eventually launched My Name Is Barbra in 1965.

With the success of her first TV special and her undeniable charm, she won Outstanding Individual Achievement in Entertainment at the 17th Primetime Emmy Awards.

As for the program, My Name Is Barbra took home Outstanding Individual Achievement in Entertainment – Musicians, awarded to music director Peter Matz; Outstanding Individual Achievement in Entertainment – Choreographers, won by Joe Layton; Outstanding Individual Achievement in Entertainment – Art Directors and Set Decorators, awarded to Tom H. John and Bill Harp; and Outstanding Program Achievement in Entertainment.

While cementing her name in Hollywood, Streisand set her sights on becoming a major film star and achieved it with her 1968 debut movie, Funny Girl, the adaptation of her 1964 Broadway hit.

Her performance as Fanny Brice earned her her first Academy Award for Best Actress.

During her Oscar acceptance speech, she began by saying “Hello, gorgeous,” a memorable line from the musical-turned-film.

Moreover, she expressed how honored she was to be tied, winning the same category as Katharine Hepburn, describing it as a “kind of a wild feeling.”

“Sitting there tonight, I was thinking that the first script of 'Funny Girl' was written when I was only eleven years old, and thank God it took so long to get it right, you know,” she said and also thanked the people who helped her with the movie.

She concluded her acceptance speech by saying, “It's like, somebody once said to me, asked me if I was happy. And I said, ‘Are you kidding? I'd be miserable if I were happy.’ And I'd like to thank all the members of the Academy for making me really miserable. Thank you.”

With her Emmy, Grammy and Oscar Awards under her name, Streisand finally completed her EGOT status after receiving her Tony Award.

In 1970, she was honored with a Special Tony Award as the "Star of the Decade," recognizing her massive impact on the entertainment industry across theater, music and film.

'Below Deck' Transport Vessel Catches on Fire at Sea

Fri, 04/24/2026 - 7:48pm

A transport vessel for Bravo's Below Deck caught on fire while on open water—and there's a video.

As seen in footage obtained by TMZ on Friday, Apr. 24, the ship went up in flames on Friday in Mo'orea, an island near Bora Bora in French Polynesia.

Although most of the boat went up in flames, the outlet says there are no reported injuries. It's unclear what caused the fire.

Unlike the expensive, luxury yachts features on the reality series, the boat on fire is a tender boat, or a smaller vessel that transports passengers from the mega yachts to shore.

Below Deck, which has aired on Bravo since 2013, chronicles the lives of the crew members who work and reside aboard a superyacht during charter season.

It has not been officially confirmed that production on the next season is underway, however, Matt Rogers—comedian and co-host of the Las Culturistas podcast—said his boyfriend, Chief Steward Fraser Olender, was off filming the reality series just last week.

"He’s off… I can’t say where. He’s creating the television program many people like,” Rogers said on the Wednesday, Apr. 15 episode of the show.

Dunkin' Renames the Boston Kreme to the Philly Kreme For Limited Time

Fri, 04/24/2026 - 7:45pm

With the NBA playoffs officially getting underway, Dunkin' is showing their support for the Philadelphia 76ers by renaming one of their most famous menu items.

According to Sporked, Dunkin' has rebranded their fan-favorite Boston Kreme Donut as the 76ers-centric Philly Kreme Donut. Delivering “the same kreme-filled classic, just with a name Philly fans can get behind," the renamed item will remain on store menus throughout the playoff series.

“Because during playoffs, there’s no room for Boston in Philly… not on the court, and definitely not in a dozen donut box,” Dunkin' said of the unexpected new change.

While Dunkin' famously began in Boston, the company said the brand's recently renamed donut reflects just how deeply tied Dunkin' has become with the City of Brotherly Love. As the iconic coffee shop said by way explanation, "Philly really knows how to run on Dunkin’.”

Of course, the new change only continues to emphasize the deep-seated rivalry between Philadelphia and Boston as the playoff season only begins to heat up. More recently, the Celtics and 76ers are tied with one victory each, with Boston scoring the most recent win over Philly with a final score of 62-55.

The next game in the series will take place on Sunday, April 26 at 7:00 pm EST.

As expected, Dunkin's new change to their Boston Kreme Donut has been met with a playfully mixed response among longtime fans of the brand. While those with Philadelphia leanings heartily approve, others with more Boston-aligned sentiments have expressed their bewilderment at Dunkin's decision.

"Yum! My favorite flavor!" said one user on Instagram. "Let's Go Sixahs!"

"Dunkin' is a Boston born franchise," said another user on a separate Instagram post.

"'Cause we're getting creamed without Joel," added yet another user, referencing 76ers center Joel Embiid, who's currently on the bench as a result of appendicitis.

1988 Hit Film Ranked Among ‘Best Movies of All Time’ Was Based on a True Story

Fri, 04/24/2026 - 7:40pm

There are only a few animated films that have left a lasting emotional mark quite like Grave of the Fireflies.

Released in 1988, the film follows the devastating story of two siblings struggling to survive during the Pacific War, after American bombers destroy their city of Kobe. Seita and his sister Setsuko, the children of an Imperial Japanese Navy Captain, survive, but their mother dies.

Grave of the Fireflies was animated by Studio Ghibli and written and directed by Isao Takahata, marking his first film with the Japanese animation studio. It was released in Japan in April 1988 and then had a limited theatrical release in the United States 30 years later. Voice acting was done by Tsutomu Tatsumi, Ayano Shiraishi, Yoshiko Shinohara and Akemi Yamaguchi.

Receiving universal acclaim from fans and critics and earning a spot on Rotten Tomatoes' "300 Best Movies of All Time" list, it is considered to be Takahata's masterpiece and one of the greatest animated films of all time. It garnered a lot of praise for its emotional writing and is also often cited as one of the saddest movies ever made.

The plot of the film is based on Akiyuki Nosaka's semi-autobiographical short story that he published in 1967 with the same name. The Japanese novelist and journalist wrote about his experiences before, during and after the firebombing of Kobe in 1945 during World War II, which killed one of his sisters, his father and eventually his younger adoptive sister Keiko, who died of malnutrition.

The bombing of Kobe took place on March 16 and 17, 1945, as part of the United States’ air raids on Japan, targeting both military sites and civilian population centers during the final stages of the Pacific War. Grave of the Fireflies was written as a personal apology to Keiko, regarding her death. In an interview with Animerica, Nosaka explained he wrote the story in 1967 during a period of high economic growth, which felt strange to him, and that "the real spirit of humanity was different."

After the story was adapted into the anime film, Grave of the Fireflies was adapted again into a live-action TV film in 2005, and an English translation was published last year by Ginny Tapley Takemori.

In addition to being an author, Nosaka was also a journalist, singer, songwriter and a member of Japan's House of Councillors. He began his career as a writer while attending Waseda University, then continued to write many short stories, edit for various magazines and write for various columns. Nosaka suffered from a stroke in 2003 and passed away in December 2015 when he was 85 years old.

Grave of the Fireflies can be streamed on Netflix or rented on Amazon Prime Video for $1.99.

1997 Film Was Just Ranked the Most ‘Perfect’ Sci-Fi Movie That Nobody Remembers'

Fri, 04/24/2026 - 7:17pm

While audiences historically adore science fiction movies, some films from the genre fade in popularity. However, this doesn't mean said sci-fi films aren't worthwhile.

Collider recently shared a list of 10 "perfect sci-fi films that no one remembers." The ranking, published in March 2026, featured movies like Strange Days from 1995, 1998's The Faculty, and Bicentennial Man, released in 1999.

The Fifth Element from 1997 took home the list's top spot. According to Collider, the Luc Besson-directed film should be even more popular than it is because it's a one-of-a-kind adventure with an unusual love story and striking, bright imagery.

The Film's Director Explained How 'The Fifth Element' Is Different Than Typical American Sci-Fi Movies

Besson, who also wrote The Fifth Element, spoke about the film in a 1997 interview. The French native said that the 1997 movie differs from traditional American sci-fi films as its core is the connection between Korben Dallas, played byBruce Willis, and Leeloo, played by Milla Jovovich.

"To show the opposite of an American type of movie, is the movie is very large at the beginning. 23rd century, everything's changed, 400 flying cabs everywhere. And the more you go into the movie and the more you realized that it's about a man and a woman who has to talk about love. And the final scene is like the shots are just between a man and woman. And, you know, this kind of movement is not typically [in] action American movie," said the director.

During the 1997 interview, Besson also shared that he had always envisioned Willis playing Korben. He explained that the Die Hard actor is the ideal action hero, who can convincingly shoot a gun, but also has a certain vulnerability.

"He's also very charming and very human. And the character was like this in the script. And Bruce was the best for me because he can really play both," said Besson.

Farrah Fawcett’s Son, Redmond O’Neal, Is Back in Court With Those Devil Horn Face Tattoos

Fri, 04/24/2026 - 7:11pm

Redmond O’Neal, the troubled son of Charlie’s Angels‘ legend Farrah Fawcettand actor Ryan O’Neal, returned to court on Friday with the same shocking face tattoos that originally caught significant attention as he faced charges that included attempted murder.

O'Neal, 41, was spotted by the New York Post with the famous face etchings, which show devil horn tattoos on each side of his forehead, right under his hairline. While his lawyer called in remotely, O'Neal spoke frequently to the judge, giving small comments such as “Yes, Sir,” “Yes, I do, Your Honor,” “Yes, Sir, Your Honor,” and “Thank you, Your Honor,” the publication shared.

The hearing only lasted about five minutes and mostly involved the defense asking the prosecution for more evidence. The case was continued until June 25.

How Did Farrah Fawcett Die?

Fawcett, who rose to stardom alongside Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson on the original Charlie’s Angels series, was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006. Upon learning of her cancer diagnosis, Fawcett issued a public statement, sharing her mission to overcome the battle.

“Throughout the journey of my life, I have maintained a strong faith in the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity. I deeply believe in one’s own positive will to overcome even the most daunting challenges,” Fawcett wrote, PEOPLE shared.

She continued, “I am resolutely strong and I am determined to bite the bullet and fight the fight while going through the next six weeks of cutting-edge, state-of-the-art treatment.”

Fawcett started the Farrah Fawcett Foundation the following year. While she was given a clean bill of health in 2007, her cancer returned a few months later. Doctors told her it had metastasized to her liver, and she died in 2009.

In honor of Fawcett’s legacy, the organization raises funds for HPV-related cancer research, patient assistance funds during treatment, and prevention programs to help spread the word.

Redmond’s Sister, Tatum O’Neal, Has Also Struggled

The daughter of actor Ryan O’Neal and Joanna Moore, she was so successful in the role that she scored an Academy Award at the age of 10. While O’Neal has struggled to get her strength back following her 2020 stroke, a new photo posted to her Instagram shows she seems to be doing great. Smiling brightly alongside her daughter, Emily McEnroe, O’Neal sported a pair of glasses and rosy cheeks as she held up the camera for a selfie. 1986 Action Film’s Sequel Became a No. 1 Box Office Hit 36 Years Later With Same Cast

Fri, 04/24/2026 - 7:02pm

More than three decades after Top Gunfirst took flight, its long-awaited sequel proved that lightning can strike twice. When Top Gun: Maverick hit theaters in the summer of 2022, it also soared to the top of the box office with the return of its original stars.

With Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer reprising their iconic roles as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell and Tom "Iceman" Kazansky, the sequel became a rare Hollywood success story — bringing back familiar and new faces, and turning them into a 1.5 billion-dollar phenomenon almost 40 years later.

Directed by Tony Scott and released in 1986, Top Gun followed Navy pilot Pete "Maverick" Mitchell as he trains at the elite Fighter Weapons School. In the process, he battles for the top spot against rival "Iceman," falls for his instructor Charlie (Kelly McGillis) and struggles with the death of his best friend, "Goose" (Anthony Edwards).

Meanwhile, Top Gun: Maverick continues the Lieutenant's journey decades later, where he has to confront his past while training the new generation of Top Gun graduates, including Rooster, the son of "Goose," for a dangerous mission. The ensemble cast featured Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Monica Barbaro, Lewis Pullman and Ed Harris.

Though Kilmer was asked to reprise his role and marked his final film, Maverick director Joseph Kosinski intentionally left out the female leads from the original film, McGillis and Meg Ryan, to avoid excessive nostalgia and focus on the storylines for the new characters.

Top Gun: Maverick was originally scheduled to be released in July 2019, but was delayed to June 26, 2020, in order to shoot more action scenes. Then, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the process even more, on top of scheduling conflicts with Cruise and other bigger movie releases, so it got pushed back further. The film had its world premiere at CinemaCon on April 28, 2022, and then a theatrical release a month later.

The 2022 sequel made a total of 1.496 billion worldwide and became the highest-grossing film of Cruise's career. Top Gun: Maverick was the No. 1 domestic box office hit that year, and the second-highest-grossing movie for 2022, behind Avatar: The Way of Water. Meanwhile, the first Top Gun film grossed over $350 million worldwide, which is equivalent to one billion in 2026.

Last week, it was announced that a third installment for the Top Gun series was in the works, with the 63-year-old actor set to reprise his character as Maverick, while Powell and Teller, who played "Hangman" and "Rooster" in the sequel, respectively, will return. According to multiple sources, Kosinski will not be directing the third film.

A week after Top Gun: Maverick was released in theaters, Cruise took to Twitter (now called X) to express his gratitude for all of the support.

"Thank you to everyone who saw #TopGun: Maverick and helped make it a historic opening weekend," he posted on May 31, 2022. The film earned an estimated $124 million at the box office in the United States on the opening weekend, which marked the actor's biggest opening weekend to date.

Starting on May 13 for one week only, both Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick are returning to theaters for a special 40th anniversary event. Meanwhile, both Top Gun movies can be streamed on Paramount+.

Sam's Club Delights Shoppers By Bringing Back Top-Selling Cotton Candy Grapes: 'Yummy, Crunchy and Sweet'

Fri, 04/24/2026 - 6:49pm

Everyone has their favorite go-to snack they enjoy whenever they're suddenly in the mood for something to eat.

For some, said snack might take the form of a fresh bag of Lay's or corn chips. For others, it might mean a moist snack cake from Little Debbie or Entenmann's. And for many others, it could take the form of a fresh piece of fruit like a banana, apple, orange or the viral Cotton Candy grapes that have been making their way to grocery stores across the country.

Fortunately, as the summer season fast approaches, Sam's Club has confirmed the return of the fan-favorite fruit snacks, giving shoppers plenty of reason to visit their local supermarkets in the very near future.

As anyone who has tasted the treat can surely attest, Cotton Candy grapes are a trademarked variety of seedless green grapes that naturally taste like cotton candy. A result of genetic crossbreeding between multiple grape varieties, the treat quickly became a popular item among mainstream shoppers, leading it to become a highly sought after commodity over the past few years.

Available for a limited-time only, the new Sam's Club item is currently priced at around $3.29 per pound on the chain's website, with three pound packages of the fruit sold for $9.87.

"Cotton Candy Grapes bring a delightful burst of sweetness that tastes just like the nostalgic pink spun-sugar treat from your childhood," Sam's Club wrote of the limited-time treats. "These unique grapes are a fun and flavorful way to enjoy nature's candy."

Of course, if customers' reviews of the Cotton Candy Grapes are any indication, the returning Sam's Club item is guaranteed to be just as popular today as it was upon its initial debut.

"I have been completely addicted to Cotton Candy Grapes since I first bit into one about a year ago," one shopper said in their review of the product. "Give them a try… if you don’t like ‘sugary-sweet’ stuff you might not like them as much as I do. But if you like cotton candy or other sweets I bet the farm you will."

Iconic '60s Actress Recorded Classic Hit Song in One Take

Fri, 04/24/2026 - 6:34pm

Few moments in real-life Disney history feel as magical as the movies themselves, but one f them happens to be the recording of a song that would go on to define an entire film.

During the making of Beauty and the Beast, Angela Lansbury delivered her now-iconic rendition of the title track— in just a single take.

At a 25th anniversary screening in 2016, Belle actress Paige O’Hara recalled the moment, saying, "I remember the day we were in the recording studio with the amazing Broadway singers in the background chorus and the amazing [New York Philharmonic] orchestra… and then Ms. Lansbury — who I have admired my whole life — came in after being up all night… and was a trooper."

Despite concerns about her exhaustion, O'Hara said Lansbury surprised everyone: "We were all worried she would be too exhausted and then she comes out and sings 'Beauty and the Beast' in one take."

Lansbury later revealed the chaotic circumstances behind that performance. "The plane had turned course for a new landing — there was a bomb call," she explained, describing how her travel to the recording session had been delayed by a scare that ultimately turned out to be a hoax. Still, she made it just in time.

Reflecting on how she pulled it off, Lansbury added, "I think it was the excitement of it all, the sense of 'do it now!'" —crediting that adrenaline for the one-take recording.

"We all had tears in our eyes," said O'Hara in a 2021 interview. "And that was, I think, one of the most amazing moments of my career, being able to be there with Angela."

That spontaneous performance became the emotional centerpiece of Beauty and the Beast, a film that helped usher in Disney's animation renaissance. The story follows Belle, a young woman who forms an unlikely bond with a cursed prince, blending romance, music and fantasy into a timeless tale about love and transformation.

The film was both a critical and commercial triumph, becoming the first animated movie ever nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Its title song, written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song, cementing its place in cinematic history.

Decades later, Lansbury's performance as Mrs. Potts remains one of the most beloved elements of the film and proof that sometimes the most iconic moments happen when everything feels a little uncertain, and you simply "do it now."

Iconic lingerie retailer Victoria’s Secret is showing off some of the brand’s top models in a new series of photos celebrating pregnancy and motherhood.

So which model moms are in the spotlight? The recent campaign features some of the most famous faces, including:

Elsa Hosk

Elsa Hosk is a VS Angel. But that’s not all. The 37-year-old Swedish supermodel is also the mommy to Tuulikki Joan Daly (born 2021) and soon-to-be mommy of baby number two. Even though Hosk ended her Victoria’s Secret runway career in 2018, it looks like she isn’t finished modeling for the brand just yet. Hosk recently posed for the VS Mother’s Day 2026 campaign, baring her growing belly bump in racy lingerie.

The model recently told Marie Claire, “It was the first time I was on set with my belly out, not hiding it, and everyone was just so hype.” She continued, “It really felt like a full-circle moment and the perfect moment for me to really make a little comeback.”

Hosk, who also posed with her absolutely adorable daughter, posted pics of the shoot on Instagram, captioning the carousel, “Mother’s Day campaign, felt right to come back to VS alongside my own (two) little Angels!”

Model Jasmine Tookes made history, walking the Victoria’s Secret runway in 2025 while nine months pregnant. And now she’s posing for the brand’s latest campaign with her new baby, Matteo, and three-year-old daughter, Mia Victoria. She revealed to Essence, “VS has been such a big part of my career, so being able to do this campaign with my kids feels really special.”

Victoria’s Secret posted a video clip (on Instagram) of the vivacious model and her two kiddos at the shoot, where the model-mommy opened up about opening the VS show while pregnant, calling it “Next level,” and revealed that she gave birth 12 days later! Tookes admitted she was, “praying the whole time down the runway, my water cannot break.”

View this post on Instagram Adriana Lima

Unlike the other two supermodels, Adriana Lima doesn’t have tiny tots. Her children are unbelievably already teens! The 44-year-old model’s mini-me’s, daughters Valentina (16) and Sienna (13), joined their famous mother on the set of the VS’s Modeled After Mom campaign. Lima told People, “To have the opportunity for them and me to be together in a photo shoot, it was really magical.” She continued, “And it was a day that I won’t forget, and I think it’s a day that they won’t forget in their lives.”

Adriana also posted a few preview pics on Instagram, calling the shoot, “The best day on set with my girls.”

Getting dressed in warm weather has a specific methodology. When it’s hot, you’re not interested in anything complicated — no layers, no overthinking, no second-guessing your outfit. It’s all about pieces you can throw on in two seconds and still feel put together. And naturally, your shoes need to keep up. If it requires more than a quick step-in and go, it’s probably not making the cut.

That’s why you need a good pair of slides. Ones as comfortable as your favorite sneakers that you can leave by the door and wear for everything — coffee runs, long walks, last-minute plans, and more. The Clarks Breeze Piper Slide Sandal at Amazon is ready to slide right into that role — literally. Now priced as low as $34, they’re marked down 43% from their original $60 price tag, making them an easy, no-brainer buy.

These sporty-hybrid sandals lean into that easy, walkable comfort category, but the design details give them a more put-together feel than a standard slip-on. The upper is made from a soft, wipe-clean polyurethane material in your choice of 10 colors, built to handle everyday wear without much upkeep. It features a double-strap layout with subtle cutout detailing and stitched accents for added texture, while the riptape (hook-and-loop buckle) closures on each strap allow for an adjustable, more customized fit. The open-toe construction keeps airflow consistent, making them a practical, breathable option for warmer temperatures.

Underfoot, the materials are focused on comfort and support. The footbed is made from ethylene-vinyl acetate, which provides lightweight cushioning and shock absorption for extended wear. The outsole is constructed from dual-density thermoplastic rubber, offering a combination of flexibility and durability along with a slip-resistant surface for better traction. A 33 millimeter heel adds slight elevation while maintaining stability, rounding out a build that’s designed for all-day, everyday wear. Sizes range on the whole, from women’s 5 through 12, offering a fit that works for most.

Fri, 04/24/2026 - 5:58pm

For fans of ’90s country, this one hits instantly. Tracy Lawrenceis adding more dates to his No Alibis Tour, and his newly announced 2026 tour dates are already sparking excitement among listeners who grew up on his chart-topping hits.

Sharing the news with a simple but energized “Let's keep the momentum going,” the country star is tapping into more than just a tour update announcement—it’s a return to the sound, stories, and era that made him a defining voice of 1990scountry music.

What Did Tracy Lawrence Announce About His 2026 Tour View this post on Instagram

Lawrence took to social media to announce additional dates for his No Alibis Tour, with 33 new stops scheduled through fall 2026. While spring 2026 dates were previously revealed, the expanded tour now includes cross-country stops such as Long Beach, California, on August 29, Albany, New York, on September 25, and a final date on October 24 in Wabash, Indiana.

The Nashville native will also make a hometown stop at the famed Ryman Auditorium in May, marking his third consecutive year at the venue following back-to-back sellouts.

Lawrence credited fan response for the added dates. “I’ve felt such an incredible response from fans showing up for the No Alibis Tour night after night,” he said. “The energy has been unreal. It only made sense to keep that momentum going, so we’re adding more dates into the fall and taking this thing even further.”

Why This Tour Is Hitting Fans Right in the Nostalgia

Tracy Lawrence is one of the defining voices of 1990s country, a decade often seen as a golden era for the genre. At a time when artists like Shania Twain and Faith Hill were expanding country music’s reach into mainstream pop, Lawrence helped shape a sound that balanced traditional storytelling with radio-friendly production.

His music fit seamlessly alongside other major acts, contributing to a string of hits including “Time Marches On,” “Alibis,” and 2003’s “Paint Me a Birmingham.”

Lawrence’s rise wasn’t just about radio success. He became known as a consistent storyteller who delivered songs that connected emotionally with listeners, often centered on real-life experiences, heartbreak, resilience, and small-town life. His authenticity as a songwriter and performer helped solidify his place as a core figure in ’90s country and has contributed to his longevity as an artist.

His music represents more than nostalgia—it reflects a shared experience. Fans remember where they were when they first heard these songs, who they were with, and what those moments meant.

That connection is a major reason why ’90s country continues to resonate today. It represents a simpler, more connected time in music, before streaming services and endless choice. For many fans, hearing these songs again feels deeply personal.

This revival reflects a broader cultural shift, with listeners gravitating toward a more grounded, authentic style of country music—one that ’90s artists delivered consistently. Streaming platforms are helping younger audiences discover this sound, giving artists like Tracy Lawrence access to a new generation of fans. That crossover appeal is helping fuel sold-out shows and renewed interest.

Legacy artists continue to play a key role in bringing storytelling back into focus in country music. Tours like the No Alibis Tour give longtime fans the chance to experience the music of their youth live again, while also introducing it to younger listeners who may be hearing it for the first time.

Tracy Lawrence’s performances are more than concerts—they are shared experiences that bridge generations. Fans who grew up with his music are now bringing their own children to shows, turning each stop into a moment that connects past and present.

“We saw you in San Francisco when Kristen was in her portable baby carrier. She is 34 now! Time flies,” shared one fan, echoing the sentiment of many.

Costco's Super Plush and Absorbent Towel Sets Are the Best Money You'll Spend This Week

Fri, 04/24/2026 - 5:55pm

A well-curated bathroom is one of the most effective ways to introduce calm into your home. When you invest in the details—from soft lighting to high-quality linens—you change the entire tone of your day. Starting your morning with a refreshing rinse and drying off with a plush, high-quality fabric can shift your mood from groggy to invigorated, while ending your evening with the same comfort promotes relaxation and helps you unwind.

Many overlook the importance of bath linens until they are faced with towels that have become scratchy, thin or ineffective at absorbing water. Quality towels should be more than just functional; they should be an extension of your home's comfort. Over time, poor-quality materials break down, losing their fluff and becoming a frustration rather than a comfort. Transitioning to superior, fast-drying fabrics is one of the simplest home upgrades you can make.

Prince Jackson Reacts To Seeing His Cousin in the Michael Jackson Biopic

Fri, 04/24/2026 - 5:35pm

The King of Pop’s new biopic, aptly titled Michael, opened in theaters nationwide on Friday, April 24. But before the public saw the movie, Michael Jackson’s son, Prince Jackson, had something to say about it.

Michael (the movie, that is) was a true family affair. And Prince, who executive-produced the film, recently shared with ABC News his emotional reaction upon first seeing Jaafar Jackson (Prince’s cousin and the son of Jermaine Jackson) transformed into Michael.

What should fans know about the making of the new biopic? According to Prince, “I think one of the most magical things about this film is for those of us who were lucky enough to grow up with The Jackson 5 and the Jacksons, hopefully, it will reinstate that feeling of nostalgia, fun, and family.”

Prince continued, “For those of us, like myself, and younger that never got to experience that, I hope that it contextualizes the growth and the rise to stardom, and the hard work and the effort that my father put into it…and overall just be a really fun entertaining time for children of all ages, from nine to 90.”

Jackson’s son also shared, “We wanted to approach it from a way that audiences of all ages could understand who he was as a person. We all know the story of the King of Pop, but this was our goal: to tell the story of Michael.”

Of course, then there is the matter of the film’s star—Prince’s cousin and Michael Jackson’s nephew Jaafar. Prince explained, “I learned so much about my dad…I’d always heard how much work it took to get to where they are and where they were. And for me, hearing those stories and seeing them emulated in my cousin Jaafar and him taking all of that work, dedication, and time really put it into perspective. You know, this was not easy to achieve.”

When asked how it was watching his cousin transform into his dad, Prince replied, “One of the greatest experiences of my life. Growing up with Jaafar as we did at Hayvenhurst, as siblings, as cousins, making home movies to making a major motion picture about my father, his uncle, someone we both loved very much.”

(Photo by Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for Lionsgate)

Even though he knew what to expect, seeing his cousin become Michael had a profound effect. “I had gotten the benefit of seeing Jaafar’s transformation over pictures that I had seen on a phone or on a computer, but the first time I saw him in person, in his hair and makeup, was really an emotional shock. Because I had not seen my father in a long time, and to see him, Jaafar just embodied him and brought him back in that moment. And it was difficult to maintain and keep composure because I just really wanted to give him a hug in that moment. I had to tell him, Jaafar, I’m proud of you, you’re going to do great. I needed to take a little step outside and get some air.

Based on Prince’s observations and conversations with the rest of the family, it seems like the Jacksons had a similar reaction: “I think it’s been overwhelmingly positive. During the production of the film, a lot of our cousins and family members came to watch the performances and came to watch Jaafar perform…I’m happy to say that I think Jaafar exceeded our expectations. Only speaking for myself, I’m blown away with what he’s done here.”

Anthropologie’s ‘Pretty’ $10 Two-Tone Bracelet Is the Secret to a Perfect Jewelry Stack

Fri, 04/24/2026 - 5:30pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

When you’re building out the perfect bracelet stack, versatility matters more than anything. It’s easy to feel like you have to choose between gold or silver depending on your outfit, but that can get limiting fast. A mixed metal piece solves that problem by bringing both tones together in one design. Instead of everything matching exactly, your jewelry looks more curated and intentional.

A standout option is the Two-Tone Linked Crystal Bracelet at Anthropologie. Right now, it’s on sale for 38% off, plus an extra 50% off in cart, bringing the price down from $32 to just $10. That’s a rare deal for Anthropologie, especially for a piece that feels both trend-forward and timeless enough to wear on repeat.

The design itself is simple but eye-catching. It features a paperclip link style with a two-tone finish, combining silver-toned and gold-toned links in one piece. It’s made from 14-karat gold-plated brass, giving it a polished look without feeling over the top. The bracelet measures 6.5 inches long and includes a 1.5-inch extender, so you can adjust it to fit comfortably.

What really makes it stand out is the center detail. Right where the two metals meet, there’s an oval-cut clear cubic zirconia crystal that acts as a subtle focal point. It catches the light just enough to add a bit of shine without overpowering the rest of the bracelet. It also includes a lobster clasp closure and a small brand tag near the clasp for a finished look.

One of the easiest ways to style a piece like this is to use it as a bridge between your other jewelry. Since it includes both gold and silver tones, it helps tie everything together. You can wear a gold watch or bangle on one side and a delicate silver bracelet on the other, and it won’t feel mismatched. One shopper shared, “It’s very pretty and I love the mixed metals!”

It’s also adaptable to so many different occasions. For work, it adds a subtle polished touch without feeling distracting. On casual days, it can elevate something as simple as jeans and a T-shirt. For nights out, the crystal detail adds just enough shine to pair nicely with dressier outfits. It even works with athleisure thanks to the modern paperclip design.

If you want your bracelet stack to look more intentional, try mixing textures and sizes. Start with a chunkier gold piece as your base, add the two-tone bracelet in the middle, and finish with a thinner silver chain or watch. Because the center piece includes both metals, it naturally ties everything together and keeps the stack from looking disconnected.

No matter how you style it, the Two-Tone Linked Crystal Bracelet is the kind of piece you’ll keep reaching for. It’s equal parts stylish and practical, making it easy to wear with almost anything. With the current discount dropping the price to $10, it’s a great opportunity to add a versatile staple to your collection without spending much.

1988 Oscar-Winning Hit Track Made Awards Season History 37 Years Ago

Fri, 04/24/2026 - 5:29pm

AmongMelanie Griffith's well-known Hollywood films, there's one romantic comedy that led to not only an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, but a win for Best Original Song. In 1988, Carly Simon wrote and sang an original theme song for a film that would make awards-season history that same year.

Directed by Mike Nicholas and written by Kevin Wade, Working Girl became a hit of the late '80s and a box office success, having made $108 million. Griffith was joined in the leading cast by Harrison Fordand Sigourney Weaver in a story about ambition and making it in the big city. Working Girl centered on working-class Staten Islander Tess McGill (Griffith) as she hopes to climb the corporate ladder after receiving her business degree in night school.

Despite her intelligence, Tess is dismissed as a bimbo and fired. She lands a new job assisting Katharine Parker, who encourages her ideas—until Tess discovers her boss plans to steal her proposal. When Katharine breaks her leg, Tess seizes the chance to step into her role and prove herself.

Like any good film, there needs to be a central theme song. The opening scene of Working Girl follows Manhattan-bound commuters on the Staten Island Ferry while Simon's "Let the River Run" plays. Simon developed the track exclusively for the film and would end up earning her an Oscar for Best Original Song at the 1989 Academy Awards.

That's not all, Simon also made awards season history when she won in the same category for both a Golden Globe and a Grammy. She won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or Television. Simon would become one of the two artists to ever win this trio of awards for a song composed, written, and performed by a single artist.

The gospel-pop-rock track only peaked at No. 49 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, but became one of Simon's most beloved hits among fans. "Let the River Run" took on a new meaning among listeners following the events of September 11, 2001. Part of the song's lyrics, "Silver cities rise", were interpreted as a reference to the Twin Towers, which were included in the official music video.

It was later used as a Christmastime advertisement for the United States Postal Service following 9/11 and the 2001 anthrax attacks. Simon would also perform the track alongside her children at Ground Zero during the memorial service in 2009.

I Asked 3 Chefs What They Always Buy at Costco—Their Answers Completely Changed How I Shop

Fri, 04/24/2026 - 5:27pm

If you think of Costco as just a place for bulk paper towels and oversized snack packs, chefs would strongly disagree. Behind the towering shelves and warehouse-scale packaging is something far more interesting: a surprisingly well-curated selection of high-quality ingredients that professionals actually rely on.

In fact, many chefs treat Costco less like a convenience stop and more like a strategic sourcing destination—one where consistency, value and quality intersect in a way that's hard to replicate at a standard grocery store.

😋😋 SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & more in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter 🍳🍔

Of course, navigating Costco like a chef requires a bit of insider knowledge. It's not about grabbing more, it's about grabbing smart. Knowing which staples deliver the best quality, which hidden gems are worth stocking up on and how to spot freshness at a glance can completely change how you shop and cook.

So, we asked three chefs a simple question: What's the one thing you never leave Costco without? Their answers weren't just practical—they were the kind of kitchen staples that can seriously upgrade your culinary game.

Our Panel of Chefs
  • Chef Deepa Shridhar is a culinary director, chef and media personality shaping some of Texas' most innovative dining experiences. Over the past 15 years, she has helped build standout Austin restaurants and launched award-winning concepts like her former food trailer, Puli-Ra, alongside influential supper clubs and collaborations rooted in her signature Third Culture Cuisine. Beyond the kitchen, she brings her South Indian–Texan perspective to writing, podcasting and television, bridging culinary expertise with digital storytelling. She currently collaborates on supper clubs and pop-ups nationwide and has been featured in national publications, Food Network digital series, and as a Chopped runner-up. She is also the creator of Sicc Palette, a multiplatform brand spanning a top food-and-drink Substack, podcast and video content.
  • Chef Jenn Struik, MS, RD, is a Grand Rapids-born chef and registered dietitian behind Jenny with the Good Eats, offering personalized chef services, meal prep and consulting. She also serves as an assistant culinary professor at Grand Rapids Community College's Secchia Institute for Culinary Education, where she teaches food science and nutrition. Struik has competed nationally on Food Network's Chopped and won the top prize on Supermarket Stakeout.
  • Chef Travis Ramsdell, CDC, is a culinary executive and operator currently serving as Vice President of Culinary at True Connection Communities. He leads dining strategy across a national senior living portfolio, focusing on experience, efficiency and growth. With a background spanning higher education dining, including roles with Chartwells Higher Education and Eurest, he brings both large-scale operational leadership and hands-on culinary expertise.
What 3 Chefs Never Leave Costco Without

David Paul Morris/Bloomberg via Getty Images

For Shridhar, the answer is immediate: ghee—and she doesn't hesitate to call it one of the best deals in the store. "They have some of the best commercial ghee at a price you won't find anywhere else," she says. In her cooking, ghee isn't a specialty—it's a foundational fat that brings depth and flavor across cuisines.

Struik's pick reflects her dual background as a chef and dietitian: plain organic Greek yogurt. "It works in so many applications—sauces, dips, marinades and smoothies," she explains. It's the kind of ingredient that can move seamlessly from savory to sweet, while also offering a strong nutritional profile. The oversized container doesn't hurt either, especially for anyone cooking with it regularly.

Ramsdell, meanwhile, looks at Costco through a distinctly operational lens. His must-have is whole cuts of prime beef—think tenderloin or rib eye. "Costco does an exceptional job with consistency and quality at scale," he says. But for him, it's not just about buying meat—it's about maximizing it. Breaking down whole cuts into multiple portions or dishes stretches value in a way that precut steaks simply cannot.

What to Look for When Shopping at Costco

Instacart

Each chef also shared how to separate good from great when shopping their go-to items—and their advice applies far beyond just these picks.

For ghee, Shridhar says to trust your eyes. A rich golden hue signals proper rendering, while visible fat separation is completely normal. Just as important: check the ingredient list. "You want to turn it over and see there are no preservatives," she notes, emphasizing that properly made ghee is naturally shelf-stable.

Struik approaches shopping with a food safety and quality mindset. She always checks expiration dates to make sure products won't spoil before she can use them, and she deliberately grabs items from the back of the cooler, where temperatures are more stable. She also double-checks protective seals—especially on yogurt—before it goes in her cart. These small habits, she notes, can make a big difference in both quality and longevity.

For Ramsdell, evaluating beef is all about fundamentals. Labels like "Prime" are helpful, but not definitive. Instead, he recommends focusing on marbling—fine, evenly distributed fat rather than large pockets—as well as a bright, cherry-red color. Packaging matters, too. Avoid cuts with excess liquid and always choose the freshest pack date available.

His biggest tip for home cooks? Buy whole cuts when possible. It gives you more control and better overall value, and smaller portions can be vacuum sealed or packed and frozen until you're ready to use them.

Other Chef-Favorite Costco Finds

Instacart

Once you move beyond the obvious, Costco starts to look a lot more like a chef's playground.

Shridhar points to pantry essentials like coconut oil, coffee beans and bulk flour as must-haves, describing the store as a kind of modern-day goods supplier. She's also found high-quality black peppercorns—something she uses in large quantities and was surprised to source so easily—as well as a surprisingly solid wine selection if you're willing to spend a little time reading labels.

Struik calls Costco the "pantry king," noting that some of the best deals and least crowded aisles are where the real treasures are. Coconut milk is a staple she uses constantly in soups, curries and baking. Maple syrup is another standout for everyday use and recipes, and she always keeps chicken stock on hand to build flavor quickly. "If you have butter, flour and stock, you can make an amazing velouté," she says.

She also highlights Kirkland cashew clusters as an unexpected snack hit—especially on charcuterie boards—thanks to their sweet-savory balance, which makes them a standout addition.

Ramsdell encourages shoppers to think beyond convenience and start buying like a chef. Whole primal cuts of meat offer significant savings if you're willing to do some knife work. Bulk fresh herbs can be turned into sauces, pestos or compound butters. Imported cheeses often deliver exceptional quality for the price, and frozen seafood can rival fresh if handled properly. Even staples like olive oil and spices, he notes, offer strong quality at bulk pricing.

Final Takeaways

Instacart

The conclusion is simple—there's no single best item at Costco—but there is a smarter way to shop it.

Across all three chefs, a pattern emerges: they prioritize ingredients that are versatile, high-quality and scalable. Whether it's ghee, plain Greek yogurt or whole cuts of beef, each choice reflects a deeper understanding of how to build meals efficiently without sacrificing flavor.

They're not just buying in bulk—they're buying with intention. And that shift in mindset is what turns a routine Costco run into an opportunity. The takeaway? Shop with purpose and think like a chef, and your next Costco run might be your smartest one yet.
