1985 Film Ranked Among ‘Greatest Cult Classic Movies of All Time’ Almost Never Happened

Wed, 05/13/2026 - 5:37am

Some of the most beloved cult movies in Hollywood history began as ideas that sounded completely ridiculous on paper.

That was certainly the case for Clue, the 1985 comedy mystery based on the classic board game that has since become one of the most quoted and endlessly rewatched cult films of its era.

Today, the movie regularly appears on lists of the greatest cult classics ever made. Forbes included Clue on its ranking of the “Greatest Cult Classic Movies of All Time,” praising the film’s cast, multiple endings and campy mystery-comedy formula, while Wealth of Geeks recently named it among the “Greatest Cult Movie Classics of All Time.”

But according to writer-director Jonathan Lynn, the movie almost never happened at all.

Speaking on The Hollywood Reporter’s"It Happened in Hollywood" podcast, Lynn admitted his first reaction to the idea of adapting the board game into a feature film was disbelief.

“I thought it was the silliest idea I’d ever heard,” Lynn recalled.

At the time, several major writers had already turned the project down, including legendary playwright Tom Stoppard, who reportedly accepted the job before later mailing back the check and calling the concept “hopelessly old-fashioned.”

Lynn ultimately cracked the story after realizing the game’s color-themed character names couldn’t possibly be real.

“They all had to be aliases,” he explained. “So they all had something to hide.”

That revelation became the foundation for the entire film.

Released in 1985, Clue featured an all-star cast including Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Martin Mull, Michael McKean, Eileen Brennan and Lesley Ann Warren. The film blended old-fashioned murder mystery storytelling with rapid-fire farce, slapstick comedy and increasingly chaotic plot twists.

One of the movie’s most famous elements was its unusual release strategy.

Different theaters received different endings, meaning audiences could see one of three possible conclusions depending on where they watched the movie. The gimmick confused some moviegoers at the time and helped contribute to the film’s disappointing box office performance.

“The ending is what people remember,” Lynn said. “If you can’t decide what your last two hours has been about, critics tend to say, ‘They couldn’t even make up their minds how to end it.’ So that was a disaster.”

Ironically, the multiple-ending format later became one of the movie’s defining features once all three endings were combined together for home video and television releases.

Over time, Clue slowly transformed from box office disappointment into a genuine cult phenomenon.

The film developed a passionate fanbase through cable reruns, VHS, DVD and streaming, with audiences embracing its endlessly quotable dialogue, theatrical performances and elaborate mystery plotting. Some screenings now even feature live shadow casts similar to The Rocky Horror Picture Show (which also famously starred Tim Curry).

Lynn also revealed several behind-the-scenes stories that have since become part of the film’s mythology.

Carrie Fisher was originally cast as Miss Scarlet before entering rehab days before filming, leading Lesley Ann Warren to join the cast at the last minute. Madeline Kahn’s legendary “flames… flames on the side of my face” speech was largely improvised, while Tim Curry, who played the frantic butler Wadsworth, had actually attended the same English school as Lynn years earlier.

Despite the film’s rocky start in theaters, Lynn said he remains amazed by the movie’s enduring popularity four decades later.

“It’s extraordinary,” he said. “People still apparently love it.”

Carl Radke Reveals the ‘Summer House’ Reunion ‘Wheels Came Off' in '2 Minutes’

Wed, 05/13/2026 - 5:31am

In a not-so-surprising revelation, Carl Radke revealed that the Summer House Season 10 reunion imploded pretty quickly.

"I was hoping going into it that we could maybe set a higher standard for ourselves," Carl said on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. "But I feel [laughter] like the wheels came off really, like within two minutes."

WWHL and reunion host Andy Cohen shared that the last time he hosted a reunion of that magnitude was the Vanderpump Rules Scandoval reunion. "There was so much there. It was so intense," he said.

"It was incredibly emotional," Carl said. "I think we were learning things in real time, which also was very hard for a lot of us to digest. I think there's real hurt, there's real disappointment, there's real lies that we're a real family and it just was uncomfortable."

The reunion, which promises to be the most intense in the series’ history, will dive into events that unfolded after season 10 ended. West Wilson, who seemingly rekindled both his friendship and possible romance with Ciara Miller, began dating Amanda Batula following her separation from husband Kyle Cooke. Throughout the breakdown of Amanda’s marriage, Ciara remained one of her most steadfast supporters, while Amanda was seen on the show rooting for Ciara and West’s rekindled relationship to succeed.

Gesturing to Andy, Carl added, "And I think you nailed it when you walked out of the studio. You're like, 'That was chaotic. It was intense.' But I do think that there was maybe some slight progress because we got it all out. I think, yeah. I mean, it was nuts."

Andy confirmed that Ciara "got it all out" at the reunion, adding that these reunions give cast members "the chance to confront these people in that way."

"It's part of what we do here, and I think it's really important. But I think it's what's allowed our show to work through some of this crazy stuff," Carl added, reflecting on the last few reunions, which heavily focused on his broken engagement to Lindsay Hubbard.

"I look at me and Lindsay, you know, three years ago we were sitting next to you in the reunion. It was not great either," Carl recalled. "So, I think we're now in a place where hopefully we can work through stuff and set an example like friends could ...well, we'll see."

Summer House is on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.

JetBlue Just Launched Its First-Ever Italy Flight—and Tickets Start at $399

Wed, 05/13/2026 - 5:10am

JetBlue has officially landed in Italy, and it’s doing so with the kind of introductory fares that make a spontaneous summer in Milan feel entirely justifiable. On May 11, the airline launched its first-ever service to Italy with a daily seasonal route between Boston Logan (BOS) and Milano Malpensa (MXP), marking a major expansion for New England’s leading leisure carrier.

To celebrate the milestone, JetBlue is dropping limited one-way fares starting at $399 for core (coach) seats and $649 for EvenMore, while their premium Mint suites are starting at $2,199.

For those of us who have spent years navigating the "carry-on only" life, JetBlue’s transatlantic A321 service is a game-changer; even in core, you’re getting free high-speed Wi-Fi and meals curated by Dig Inn, which significantly beats the standard "airline chicken" experience.

Marty St. George, president of JetBlue, noted that this launch is a strategic win for travelers who want a high-quality experience without the legacy carrier price tag. “As our first destination in Italy, Milan brings even more reach to our transatlantic network and gives customers, both in New England and across our network, the chance to experience JetBlue’s unique service across the Atlantic," St. George said. "All of it is built around exceptional service, thoughtful design and everyday value.”

The timing couldn’t be better for anyone looking to bypass the chaos of Paris or London this summer. Milan serves as a perfect gateway not just for the fashion district, but for easy escapes to Lake Como and the Italian Alps. Aldo Schmid, Head of Aviation Business Development for SEA Milan Airports, described the new connection as a "sign of confidence" in the Milan market, offering passengers "greater travel options, along with a high-quality experience."

If you’re looking to snag those $399 fares, you’ll need to move fast—the celebratory pricing is only available for a limited window for travel through August 2026. The service is currently scheduled to run through October 5, making it a prime option for a late-summer "slow travel" retreat in Northern Italy.

1972 Glam Rock Anthem Became a Hit Twice Thanks to a Supergroup

Wed, 05/13/2026 - 5:00am

In 1972, T. Rex had a hit single with “Bang a Gong (Get it On).” The song, which appeared on the group's second album Electric Warrior, peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 on March 4, 1972, making the pioneering English glam rock band a one-hit wonder in the United States.

Written by Marc Bolan, “Bang a Gong” was once ranked one of the Top 100 classic rock songs of all time by Ultimate Classic Rock. The outlet paid homage to the song’s “hypnotic groove” and described it as T. Rex's “shining moment.” “Bolan found rhythm in his language and will long be remembered as a poet turned superstar …. ‘Bang A Gong (Get It On)’ still plays a crucial part in pop culture," UCR noted.

Producer Tony Visconti once explained  T. Rex’s status as a one-hit wonder in the U.S. “When [Bolan] came over, he would play 'Get It On' with a 20-minute guitar solo, like he was Jimi Hendrix,” he told The Guardian in a 2023 interview. “The kids wanted to hear basic rock’n’roll. His attendance at shows dropped immediately.”

Bolan died in a car accident in 1977 at age 29, and T. Rex disbanded soon after.

The song found a new life in 1985

Eight years after Bolan’s death, “Bang a Gong” found a new life in the music video era.  In 1985, The Power Station released a cover of the T. Rex hit, with the flipped-around title “Get it On (Bang a Gong).” The song went to No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the summer of 1985 and received heavy rotation on MTV.

The Power Station supergroup featured singer Robert Palmer, former Chic drummer Tony Thompson, and Duran Duran members John Taylor and Andy Taylor. The group was formed after John Taylor agreed to help his then-girlfriend, Bebe Buell, produce a cover version of the T. Rex classic with a few of his rock star friends.

“I was dating her at the tail end of [the 1984] Duran tour,” Taylor told Variety in a January 2026 interview. “She was an artiste who’d already had a record out by that time, and I thought it could be fun producing something with her. …. So we got the green light for studio time to develop the idea, then she and I fell out. But by then the horse was running, and Andy and I took the bit between our teeth…”

While Taylor and Buell broke up before their project was finished, The Power Station went on to record their debut album, which also featured the hit single “Some Like It Hot.” The album hit No. 6 on the Billboard 200, and singer Michael Des Barres joined the supergroup when they went on tour.

22 Years Ago Today, a Series Finale Aired With a Subtle Twist That Still Has Fans Divided

Wed, 05/13/2026 - 4:42am

For 11 seasons, Frasier brought sharp wit, unforgettable one-liners, and one of television’s most beloved sitcom families into living rooms across America. The Emmy-winning series followed psychiatrist Frasier Crane, played by actor Kelsey Grammer. The sitcom became a defining staple of NBC’s Must-See TV era before airing its emotional series finale on May 13, 2004.

"Goodnight, Seattle," was the fitting title for the show's finale. Frasier decides to leave Seattle and take a new job in San Francisco. However, when the series ends, Frasier doesn't touch down in California—the pilot is heard announcing "Welcome to Chicago." The ending suggests that Frasier chose to follow his heart, to pursue his love interest, Charlotte (Laura Linney), in the Windy City.

The 25 million viewers who tuned in to watch the finale were left with plenty of emotions—and questions. Would Frasier stay in Chicago with Charlotte? Would he eventually fly back to California? And, most importantly, would Frasier's journey pick back up at a later date?

Over the years, fans of the long-running series have remained divided over how the show wrapped up.

"Honestly it seemed more like a season finale than a series finale. Like eventually something would go wrong and he would return to Seattle. It was so weird to see that the series closed with Frasier moving on to start a TV show and then randomly going to chase after a random woman at the last minute. Because while the show tried to paint it as the most romantic thing possible, it wasn't like his relationship with Charlotte was developed at all," one fan of the show wrote on a Reddit thread about the finale.

"I totally disagree. With Martin getting re-married, his relationship with Frasier was about to change, in a major way. He had re-connected with his father, but now that he had married, he was moving out and moving on. Niles and Daphne were just starting a new life together, as well, and Frasier, at this point, would be living on his own and still young enough that he too could finally stop taking care of others and take care of himself and find love. It made perfect narrative sense for him to take a figurative and literal leap into the unknown and do something for himself, turn a new page and start a new adventure," someone else countered.

The story ultimately continued in Paramount+’s 2023 Frasier revival, which ran for two seasons before being canceled. The reboot revealed that Frasier and Charlotte stayed together in Chicago for nearly 20 years before Frasier relocated to Boston to reconnect with his son Freddy — setting up the premise of the revival series.

There has been ongoing speculation about the revival potentially finding a new home on another network or streaming service, though discussion surrounding a possible continuation has quieted in recent months.

The Greatest Tennis Match of All Time Took Place 53 Years Ago Today—And It Changed Sports Forever

Wed, 05/13/2026 - 4:00am

One of the most famous tennis matches of all time took place 53 years ago today, on May 13, 1973.

Well-known tennis players Bobby Riggs and Margaret Court competed for a $10,000 prize and bragging rights for their gender. The match was held at Riggs’ home court, the San Vicente Country Club in Ramona, California.

The 55-year-old was infamous for his doubts about female athletes. He often belittled players and women’s sports. Riggs dubbed the match a “battle of the sexes.”

He had originally wanted to play Billie Jean King, whom he called the “leading women’s libber of tennis.” King rejected his proposition.

Court accepted his offer. The Australian tennis player had won 89 of her previous 92 matches and was the leading pick to win the women’s professional tour.

When the big moment came, Riggs beat Court 6-2, 6-1. It was later revealed that he had the court resurfaced to slow the game.

After his victory, Riggs once again requested a match with King. This time, the 29-year-old accepted. This time, they played for a $100,000 prize.

In 2017, the biographical film Battle of the Sexes details this monumental story. It starred Emma Stoneas King, SteveCarell as Riggs, and JessicaMcNamee as Court.

It was directed by husband-and-wife duo JonathanDayton and ValerieFaris. In 2017, they spoke to the European Women's Audiovisual Network about the film.

“What was interesting to us was the two private lives of these characters,” Faris said. “Because the match itself, the tennis match, wasn’t all that entertaining or interesting. It was really more about what pressure they were under leading to the match and all that they were going through emotionally and psychologically.”

The Golden Globe-nominated movie followed the fight for equal pay, King’s struggle with her sexuality, and, of course, the tennis match.

On September 20, 1973, the big day arrived. The pair played in front of a sold-out audience.

King beat Riggs 6-4, 6-3, 6-3. It became the most-watched televised sports event of all time.

Target’s 'Space-Saving' $60 2-Drawer Farmhouse Storage Cabinet Is a Stylish Way to Declutter Small Spaces

Wed, 05/13/2026 - 3:15am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Spring cleaning always starts with ambition. You clear out the junk drawer, donate the clothes sitting in the “maybe” pile, return the extra towels and sheets to the linen closet, and note what you need to stock up on. But somewhere between the organizing and the decluttering, there’s usually a second phase no one talks about: The leftover items that still need a permanent place. Bins, baskets, and temporary piles are fine for a short time, but what you really need is a permanent solution.

Storage pieces that actually look good tend to make that process less frustrating, especially when they blend into your space instead of making it feel utilitarian. Right now, the $210 Costway 2-Drawer Floor Cabinet is on sale at Target for just $60. This massive 71% discount can make your post-cleaning reset feel much easier to finish.

Built from medium-density fiberboard (MDF), the structure is engineered for everyday use with a sturdy, compact footprint.

Its vertical layout measures 35 inches high, 12 inches long, and 12 inches wide, making it ideal for like bathrooms, entryways, or narrow corners where space is limited but storage is necessary. The three-tier open shelving design keeps the silhouette light while still providing usable storage across multiple levels, with each shelf able to support up to 22 pounds.

The cabinet also includes two pull-out drawers that offer enclosed storage for smaller items like toiletries, chargers, or miscellaneous household essentials you want tucked away. The top surface adds additional utility with a 44-pound weight capacity, giving you space for heavier items like folded towels or decor accents.

At 22.5 pounds, the unit is light enough to position and adjust during setup, but feels stable once assembled. A water-resistant finish helps protect the surface from everyday moisture and makes cleaning simple with a quick wipe-down. It also works well in kitchens, bedrooms, laundry rooms, or anywhere else you need a storage solution that doesn't take up much floor space.

Quote of the Day by Karen Horney, Psychoanalyst: ‘If You Want To Be Proud of Yourself, Then Do Things in Which You Can Take Pride'

Wed, 05/13/2026 - 2:45am

We hear a lot about historical, influential psychologists, but a lot of them are men, when women were (and still are) influential in the field as well. Karen Horney was one of those women, with the American Institute of Psychoanalysis (AIP) calling her a “distinguished pioneer of psychoanalysis.”

She was born on Sept. 16, 1885, in Hamburg, Germany, and struggled with depression early on, VeryWellMind reported; she went through her first serious depressive episode in her teen years. Despite that, she was always ambitious and knew she wanted to be a doctor of some sort, which was commendable at a time when women weren’t allowed into university. And that attitude most likely inspired our quote of the day from Horney; she spoke about how to find pride in yourself and do things that you can be proud of.

Horney was similar to Alfred Adler in that she agreed that culture and society played a bigger role on someone’s psyche rather than biology (as Sigmund Freud thought), per VeryWellMind. She also differed from Freud on how they considered each gender; she disagreed with his idea that there are inherent differences between men and women in their psychological makeup. In response to one of his indelicate theories—which Horney believed to be demeaning toward women and erroneous—she came up with the concept of "womb envy," which suggests that men “experience feelings of inferiority because they cannot give birth to children,” per VeryWellMind.

With that, it makes sense that Horney is often credited with founding feminist psychology. Because of the stark differences in her theories to and disagreement with Freud’s theories about women, she shone a light on the psychology of women and created more interest in the study of it. She went on to achieve her professional and academic goals by attending medical school in 1906 at the University of Freiburg—one of the first to accept women in their medical courses—and graduated with her MD in 1911 from the University of Berlin. From 1923 to 1935, she wrote 13 significant papers rooted in feminist theory and psychology, per the Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis (AAP), which was initially founded by Horney in 1941.

She died in December of 1952, and her work lived on after her, inspiring others. And in today’s quote, she shared how to be proud of yourself. Although it’s simple and short, it might be what someone needs to hear if they’re overthinking how to find success or self-worth.

Quote of the Day by Karen Horney

CanvaPro/Parade

“If you want to be proud of yourself, then do things in which you can take pride.”

This is attributed to her 1950 book, Neurosis and Human Growth: The Struggle Towards Self-Realization. This is considered Horney’s magnum opus, and basically goes through her theory of neurosis, which VeryWellMind reported is still “influential today.”

“Neurosis,” which is now an outdated term, per Healthgrades, referred to mental health issues or disorders that resulted in people being unable to adapt to situations and having recurring negative and obsessive thoughts, and sometimes behaviors. Today, we’d know neuroses as anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), OCD or panic disorders. But different depressive or other disorders can fall under this concept, such as persistent depressive disorder, PTSD and more.

Horney believed neuroses to be “coping mechanisms that play a significant role” in people’s lives, per VeryWellMind, and went on to list 10 neurotic needs, which included power, affection, independence and more. Again, this is where she really differed from Freud; whereas he believed neurotic disorders had a biological cause, she believed there were cultural reasons that impacted neuroses.

Deeper Meaning of Karen Horney’s Quote—‘Do Things in Which You Can Take Pride'

As mentioned above, this quote is often attributed to Horney, specifically to her 1950 book, where she writes a lot about people with neurotic disorders and their pride. She uses the negative form of the word “proud,” and talks about the differences between “neurotic pride” and "healthy pride."

But taking this quote at face value, the general version of “proud” is used here, referring to non-neurotic pride. And as we said before, it’s a simple concept, but one that might be helpful if you’re struggling with finding something to claim as your own success in life.

Essentially, the quote is saying that if you want something to be proud of, you should aim to do things that would make you happy and proud. Don’t waste your time on trivial things or inconsequential issues, and develop goals and ambitions for things that you know you’d be proud of achieving.

It’s not even saying to aim low, but more so aim for something you will be so honored with accomplishing. There's also something so powerful about reminding yourself to do things you'd be proud of, not doing something for other people or that you know other people will approve of.

More Quotes from Karen Horney
  • “There is no good reason why we should not develop and change until the last day we live.”
  • “To find a mountain path all by oneself gives a greater feeling of strength than to take a path that is shown.”
  • “A normal human being ... does not exist.”
  • “Concern should drive us into action, not into a depression.”
  • “Pride and self-hate belong inseparably together; they are two expressions of one process.”
  • “The view that women are infantile and emotional creatures, and as such, incapable of responsibility and independence is the work of the masculine tendency to lower women's self-respect.”
  • “Fortunately analysis is not the only way to resolve inner conflicts. Life itself still remains a very effective therapist.”

If you're looking for an easy way to refresh your outdoor space this season, a bird bath is a good place to start. Beyond the decorative appeal, it serves a practical purpose as birds naturally help manage pests and support healthier soil, making your garden more balanced over time. Right now, Walmart has one on sale that's worth considering.

The Ktaxon Solar Fountain Bird Bath is currently marked down to as low as $38 from $56. Designed with a vintage-inspired bronze finish, it features fleur-de-lis accents and soft European-style detailing that gives it a classic, decorative look. It comes in two colors: brown and blue-green. Shoppers appreciated the bath’s appearance overall, with one calling it a “great garden addition.”

This round bird bath stands 28 inches tall with a 20-inch-diameter basin — large enough for several birds to gather at once. Unlike a traditional still-water basin, it has a built-in solar fountain that activates in sunlight, keeping the water gently moving throughout the day. The rim also features small oval cut-outs that give smaller birds a place to perch as they lean in for a drink.

Walmart buyers have praised its look and performance, with one describing it as “pretty cute” and “sharp,” while another shared, “My wife loved it and we are sending pictures and videos to friends.”

The basin and pedestal are made from weather-resistant resin, so it can stay outside year-round without cracking or fading. For added stability, the hollow pedestal base can be filled with sand or rocks. Ground stakes are also included to keep it more secure. Assembly is simple and straightforward. Since the package includes just the bird bath and stakes, setup takes only a few minutes.

Becoming the friend with the amazing closet that everyone wants to borrow pieces from isn't as hard to reach as you'd think. Thanks to our favorite retailers like Nordstrom Rack, Amazon, Walmart, Kate Spade Outlet, and more, you can shop for top-rated accessories, footwear, and clothing at unbeatable prices. Nordstrom Rack, for example, is presently selling the Dr. Scholl's Once Twice Platform Sandal for 47% off, and shoppers love them.

The sandals initially cost $95, but have been marked down to just $50 ahead of summer. The sandal is being sold in six classic colors: black, dark brown, cheetah print, beige, and metallic silver. The available sizes range from 6 to 11, including half sizes, with customers saying that the footwear runs true to size overall. The dark brown colorway seems to be a fan favorite because there are some sizes already out of stock, so add those to your cart sooner rather than later.

The sandal design, cited as the "best buy" for the season by shoppers, has a 2-inch platform that's the perfect size for giving you height while also staying comfortable. The style additionally features a contoured suede footbed that caters to the shape of your foot arch, and a shock-absorbent cork midsole that reduces fatigue and stress on the foot during short and long wears. We love the three sandal straps and the geometric gold buckle that adds a uniqueness to the design.

The best part about shopping for these sandals is that Dr. Scholl's will plant one tree for every purchase of the shoe, due to a partnership with the nonprofit organization One Tree Planted. Therefore, like many other shoppers, you may even be inclined to purchase multiple pairs. Customers described the "stylish" sandals as "unbelievably comfortable," "super cute," and "perfect" for all day wear.

Target Has a 'Cute' $38 Wooden Wagon Planter That Makes Any Porch Look More Charming

Wed, 05/13/2026 - 1:01am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If your porch, patio, or front steps could use something cuter than another basic planter, Target has an adorable wagon-shaped option on sale right now. The Costway Wooden Wagon Planter comes in three colors: brown, green, and red, with the green version marked down to the lowest price at $38 (originally $76). The brown option is on sale for $40 (down from $90), while the red is the best deal at 68% off at $40 (down from $120).

The planter measures 24.5 inches long by 13.5 inches wide by 24 inches high and weighs 5.5 pounds. It’s made from fir wood and metal, with a freestanding design, a long front handle, and four metal wheels. It has a 33-pound weight capacity and includes one garden bed. It’s also important to note that it doesn't have drainage holes, so you may want to use it for potted plants or add your own drainage if you plan to plant directly in it.

It can hold flowers, herbs, succulents, faux stems, seasonal decor, or a mix of smaller pots. The wagon shape gives it a more unique look than a standard rectangular planter, especially near a front door, on a balcony, or in a garden corner. And since it’s on wheels and under six pounds before plants are added, it’s also much easier to shift around than a larger raised bed.

Shoppers have called the wagon “very beautiful” and “perfect for plant lovers.” “It's practical for holding plants and adds a charming, rustic vibe to my outdoor space,” one person wrote, while another called it “so cute” and “very easy to put together.”

The brown color is the most classic option if your porch already has wood tones or a farmhouse-style setup. The green style would look cute with herb, terracotta pots, or a small cottage garden arrangement. The red shade has a more vintage garden feel and would be especially fun for summer flowers, fall mums, or holiday greenery later in the year.

The Costway Wooden Wagon Planter ticks all the boxes of being compact, decorative, and practical enough for potted plants, herbs, and seasonal porch displays. If your outdoor space needs one more cute detail before summer, be sure to grab it while the deal is still live at Target.

1997 Iconic Ballad Ranked Among Greatest ‘Country Love Song Duets of All Time’ Was a Long-Running No. 1 Hit

Wed, 05/13/2026 - 12:26am

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will celebrate 30 years of wedded bliss in the fall of 2026, which means they’ve experienced many milestones together, and that includes musical ones, too.

Beyond being husband and wife and parents to three daughters, the superstars, widely regarded as country music royalty, have joined forces on stage and in the studio, recording romantic duets over the years, which have earned them plenty of shared awards and accolades.

One such collaboration is the timeless classic, “It’s Your Love,” written by Stephony Smith. Released on May 12, 1997, as the lead single from McGraw’s Everywhere album, the nearly 30-year-old song serves as the married couple’s first duet.

Surprisingly, however, the tune wasn’t initially meant to be a duet, but McGraw insisted he and Hill sing it together.

"We were dating at the time, and we were in the middle of a tour together," McGraw recalled during an interview with American Songwriter of having Hill as his opening act on his 1996 Spontaneous Combustion Tour. "I remember I had a place out in Leiper's Fork [Tenn.], and the bus was sitting there. [Producer Bryon Gallimore's wife, Missy] showed up with that song, and we went to the back of the bus to listen. I instantly knew I was going to cut it. I played it for Faith and told her I wanted her to sing on it. We both really felt like we had something."

Fast forward a year, and McGraw’s hunch was right. The lovebirds went on to enjoy a historic run with their collaboration as it reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, where it stayed for six consecutive weeks. “It’s Your Love” also became the pair’s first top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Additionally, the song was ranked at No. 3 on Billboard’s ‘Top 25 Country Love Songs of All Time’ in 2022.

“It’s Your Love” also went on to score a bevy of awards, including three at the Academy of Country Music Awards, one at the CMA Awards, and two Grammy nominations.

Aside from “It’s Your Love,” McGraw and Hill share many other duets, “I Need You,” “Like We Never Loved at All,” “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s,” and others.

Some customers are even purchasing multiple colors at a time because the traditional hues like black and white are extremely versatile.
