13-Year-Old Golden Retriever Has an Outlined, Heart-Shaped 'Sugar Face' and It's Striking
We adopted my Dachshund mix from an Arkansas rescue when she was just a year old. Her dark black fur mixed with tan markings was easy to maintain and even today, she barely sheds. Now, 14 years later, that adorable coat is mixed with gray and white fur, especially around her muzzle and neck. I think it makes her look more sophisticated and dignified, as well as downright adorable.
Ally the Golden Retriever is also a senior girl whose coloring formed a beautiful shape as she aged.
@tails_allyandbeauAlly Girl started getting her sugar face at age 7. She has always had so much love to give and wanted to wear it on her face. Now at almost 13 she has a perfect heart shape đđ„° #goldenretrieverlife #souldog
⏠original sound - Jaypee Lobaton - Jaypee LobatonIn the TikTok from @tails@allyandbeau, the gorgeous Golden stood and stared into the camera, patiently waiting for a treat. It was easy to tell that Ally was on the older side due to the amount of white fur that covered her face.
Yet the shape the white fur took could make you do a double-take. Spreading over her eyes and nose, her tan fur still dipped down by her brow into a V-shape. The result was a practically perfect heart shape, just adding to Ally's charm.
"Ally Girl is such a lover, she even wears a heart on her face," the onscreen text read, with the caption providing further details. "[She] started getting her sugar face at age 7. She has always had so much love to give and wanted to wear it on her face. Now, at almost 13, she has a perfect heart shape."
Golden Retrievers Get White Facial Hair as They AgeMost dogs get gray and/or white hair as they get older. With some canines, the graying fur is evenly distributed. Yet with Goldens, their whitening hair tends to stay on their face, mainly around the eyes and muzzle.

This transformation usually starts around 5 years old and gets more noticeable by the time they are 6 or 7 years of age. Genetics also play a part in when your Golden starts getting more white fur. Stress or anxiety can cause premature graying in Goldens.
Ally's special look definitely reflects her spirit, and she wears it well.

Golden Retrieverâs Fridge-Triggered Judging Stare Is Ruthless
Golden Retrievers may be loving, but they are also extremely observant. When food enters the equation, they know exactly when to appear and how to make you feel guilty.
This video shows a Golden Retriever staring down from above, locking eyes the second the fridge opens. The judgment is immediate, relentless, and impossible to ignore. He knows what youâre doing.
@dexthegoldenJust checking⊠#dog #goldenretriever #dogsoftiktok #goldensoftiktok
⏠original sound - Dex the Golden đŠźOn January 23, 2026, @dexthegolden shared a TikTok video of their very observant Golden Retriever named Dex, who doesn't let anything slip by him, even if not to be seen; he's watching, always watching. And yes, judging, too.Â
All it took for him to appear was the fleeting sound of one of his parents opening the fridge in the kitchen. Suddenly, there he is, head popping down from the top level of the home.
He's "just checking." On what, though, I'm not sure. It could be some judgment because his parent is opening the fridge, again. Or it could be a hopeful puppy glance, thinking there's something in that fridge for him.Â

Either way, people in the comments section had a great time guessing exactly where he is and sharing their thoughts on the suddenly appearing pup.Â
One person wrote, "Where is he? Is he judging you from the stairs?"
Another shared, "My dog knows the sound of our cheese drawer opening and always comes running."
Someone else added, "I need someone to look at me like that to make me get out of the fridge!"
Other comments included, "Why's he in the air?" "Why is he⊠on the ceiling?" "Lol, what??? Where is he?" "Legitimately, how did he get up there?" "⊠is he in the ceiling?" "Fancy meeting you here," and "I need this level of judgement to keep me from opening the fridge, tbh."
One joked, "Why did I think he was on top of the kitchen cupboards?" Another replied to this writing, "But for real. Where is he then?"

Golden Retrievers Have a Silly, Fun PersonalityThe funniest thing about this clip and Dex staring at his parent from some random place high up is that it's very likely that he's watching to get a snack or just playing because it gets a giggle. Golden Retrievers are known for being silly.Â
According to the American Kennel Club, Goldens are at the top end of the "playfulness level," which means they love to play and likely will seek out entertainment, and they're in the middle of the pack for dogs who have a protective nature.
Given these two characteristics and social traits, Dex could really be playing around, but also be serious at the same time. These dogs are "friendly" and "intelligent," the organization writes, which also checks out for silly Dex, too.
Adorable Pug's 'Immediate No' to Going Out in Snow Is Written All Over Her Face
Some dogs sprint into the snow like it is their lifeâs calling. This New York City Pug is⊠not that dog.
In the TikTok video, the camera is pointed at the building, where the sidewalk is covered in fresh snow. Our tiny star edges up to the threshold, leans her head out, and takes one long, unimpressed look at the winter chaos in front of her. You can almost hear the record scratch.
@victrebshard no mom #pugs #pugsoftiktok #fyp #nyc #snow
⏠original sound - victrebsHer whole face says it before her human does: absolutely not.
Pugs are already little masters of expression, but this one takes it to another level. The big eyes go wide, then squint just enough to say, âYou cannot be serious.â Her human laughs and translates what weâre all thinking: âShe says hell no.â And honestly, that might be the most accurate closed captioning in internet history.
She doesnât bark. She doesnât whine. She simply plants her paws and refuses to cross the invisible force field between âindoor heatingâ and âfrozen sidewalk nonsense.â For a second, she pokes her head out again like sheâs willing to reconsider, then pulls back even faster, as if the snow personally offended her.
The video is only a few seconds long, but it perfectly captures that mood we all get when we open the door, feel the wind hit us, and immediately start questioning all our life choices. This is not a snow day Pug. This is a âfind me a blanket and a snackâ Pug.
You get the sense that her human knows this routine well: open door, offer outside, receive instant tiny veto. The laughter behind the camera isnât mean, itâs affectionate. Theyâre in on the bit together. Sheâs not being forced. Sheâs being allowed to express exactly how deeply she does not vibe with winter.
Honestly, it is kind of refreshing. Not every dog has to be a snow zoomie machine. Some of them are here to represent the rest of us, the ones who think ânopeâ is a perfectly valid weather response.
Not Every Dog Is Built for Snow (And Thatâs Okay)This Pugâs doorway protest is adorable, but it also makes sense. Short-nosed breeds, small dogs, and pups with thin coats can struggle more in cold weather. The American Kennel Club notes that dogs like Pugs may be more sensitive to winter temps, and recommends keeping outdoor time short, watching closely for shivering or paw lifting, and using sweaters or booties for extra warmth when needed. Their cold weather safety guide breaks down how to tell when your dog is too cold and how to keep reluctant pups comfortable.
So if your pup takes one look at the snow and files an âimmediate no,â youâre not spoiling them by listening. Youâre honoring their very honest, very expressive little weather report. My dog Lola actually started out wary of snow too, and now she loves it, so thereâs always a chance todayâs dramatic ânopeâ becomes tomorrowâs zoomies.

Rescue Cat With Rickets Looks Like She Was Rendered in 2D
Some cats are floofy. Some are round. And then thereâs Blu, a rescue cat whose silhouette is so uniquely flat from certain angles that people joke she looks like she was rendered in 2D.
From the side, Blu almost looks illustrated. Her proportions are delicate and slightly compressed in a way that makes you blink and look again. Itâs not cartoonish in a mean way. Itâs fascinating. She looks like a living drawing, soft and expressive and completely unforgettable.
View this post on InstagramThe Instagram account, blu_the_blep, run by Bluâs cat mom, who is a veterinarian, shares her daily life and care. Blu has rickets, a condition that affects bone development, which contributes to her distinctive shape. But what really stands out is how loved she clearly is.

The comments range from playful curiosity to full devotion. One person wrote, âPoor thing, why is she 2D?â Another said, âAm I the only one who thinks she looks like a cat stuffed toy that has been loved roughly over years? Either way, I love her soooo much.â Someone joked, âWho sat on her?â while another said, âShe came right out of a 5-year-oldâs drawing.â
Others were simply smitten. âIâm mad at Instagram for not introducing me to Blu sooner. How am I just now witnessing this amazing little creature for the first time?â one person wrote. Another commented, âI love whateverâs wrong with her,â which feels less about her condition and more about how completely lovable she is.
Blu doesnât look fragile. She looks unusual, adorable, and completely herself.
What Is Rickets in Cats? @catsofmeowyorkrescueGodiva, our kitten with rickets, is doing much better now. We wanted to tell you all her story here on TT. Husky's Priceless Loopy Face After Anesthesia Goes Viral
We've all been there. You go for some sort of same-day procedure like getting your wisdom teeth pulled or a test that requires anesthesia, and later hear how batty you acted afterwards. Coming out of that anesthetized state leaves you feeling very hazy and often acting humorously out of sorts. The same effect happens with our fur babies, where they are definitely not themselves after being so heavily medicated and take on a comical persona.
Titan the Husky recently had a veterinary visit that required anesthesia and left with a facial expression that is garnering millions of pageviews.
@imbluethesiberiannI need to know what heâs thinking asap⊠#dogsoftiktok #husky #huskies #dogs #funny
⏠Welp, Didn't Expect That - Yu-Peng Chen & HOYO-MiXIn the TikTok from @imbluethesiberiann, Titan sat in the backseat of the car following his vet appointment where he underwent anesthesia. The woozy canine sat completely upright with his eyes open very, very wide.
"The doctor said he'd be loopy after anesthesia, but I wasn't expecting this," the onscreen text read, with the caption adding, "I need to know what he's thinking asap."
Titan stared straight ahead and licked his lips, panting but practically motionless in his seat. "Titan, you okay?" his mom asked. The hazy Husky turned his head toward his mother with a blank expression on his face that seemed to say, "Huhhhh"?
The precious pooch remained extremely wide-eyed and didn't even blink. Titan may have had a million thoughts running through his mind, or none it all. It was really hard to tell.
Millions Saw Titan Post-ProcedureThe social media post drew in almost 16 million views so far, with some followers guessing at what Titan was thinking.
âMom hush for a second , Iâm trying to focus on the three of you,â one joked.
"Titan feels no pain, has no idea what you are talking about, or which dimension he is in," another pointed out.

"Poor boy is tasting colors and seeing the music!!" someone commented.
"It's fitting his name is Titan, because he's definitely orbiting Saturn," a fan remarked.
No worries, Titan â this situation is common and happens to the best of us.

Mother Goat Bonds With Newborn Twins in Tiny Sweaters, and We're Dying
Mama goat Trixie is melting hearts on TikTok as she gently nuzzles, cleans, and bonds with her newborn twinsâboth adorably bundled up in tiny sweaters. The tender moment captures the preciousness of early bonding, and viewers (aka me) canât get enough of how cozy and cute the babies look.
@grindstone.creekTrixie had twins!! â€ïžđ„° #herewegoagain #babygoat #grindstonecreekfarm
⏠Don't Go Breaking My Heart - Elton John & Kiki DeeIt's evident from the clip that the love between Trixie and her babies is powerful, and the sweaters, well, those are too much to take. Just when I thought it couldn't get any cuter, however, the video cuts to one of the twins practicing his first little hops all on his own. If Trixie needs a break from mothering, I'm more than happy to visit Grindstone Creek Farm to goat sit for a while.
Fun Facts About Baby GoatsTrixie's babies -- called "kids" -- came into this world the way most goats do: as twins. Triplets are also common, and sometimes, a mama gives birth to even more. More kids equals more sweaters!
There might be some fortuitousness behind these multiple births because goats are herd animals, which means they require companionship to thrive. Not only does a herd keep goats from becoming lonely and anxious, but living in a group provides kids with safety and protection.
Goats are able to stand on their own just minutes after birth and are encouraged by their mothers (like we can see Trixie doing in the video) to use their legs for support. They can also start climbing and jumping in a matter of days, and after a couple of weeks, they have often developed into fearless little kids.
Like human babies, goat kids love to snuggle. It goes back to their need to feel protected and emotionally supported. And not all kids are given their own adorable sweaters, so sticking close to one another also provides warmth!
A kid's vocalizations, known as "bleats," are immediately recognizable to their mothers after birth. Goats bleat for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is because they are excited at feeding time.
Goats sneeze (or make a snorting sound) to warn each other of danger, whether real or imagined. This behavior acts as a subtle but recognizable alert system to communicate fear or safety concerns within the herd.
And goats -- even kids -- aren't given enough credit for how intelligent they are. Studies have shown that goats are skilled at problem-solving, are highly observant, and are as clever as dogs.Â

7 Dog Breeds That Act Like People, According to Experts
Whether youâre having a much-needed snuggle together or catching up on your days, your dog can easily feel like part of the family. But while your furbaby can seamlessly mesh into your household, sometimes it can feel like theyâre actually a person. These human-like dogs can anticipate your needs, mimic your emotions and even display personalities that feel almostâŠpeople-like. If you suspect you have a furry BFF that falls into that category or if you're hoping to become a dog parent to one, but aren't sure which pups have those qualities, we rounded up 7 dog breeds that act most like people, according to experts.
âWhile every dog is an individual, some breeds have been selectively bred for traits that feel especially âhumanâ in day-to-day interactions,â says Ashly Smith, DVM, regional medical director for Small Door Veterinary. "These pups have sweet, people-like quirks, like talking back to you, gravitating toward other people, sitting like humans, and just seeming like they understand you." While some dogs will gauge how youâre feeling and responding to that, dog breeds that act like humans will âreadâ your face, body language, and tone to pick up on how youâre doing, and theyâll likely give off their own similar cues.Â
Of course, dogs don't have to be human-like to be embraced by you and other people in your household. Still, itâs fun to think about all the ways your pup seems to mirror human behaviors. Keep reading to see both big dog breeds and small dog breeds that experts recommend that you'll adore.

6 Bold Dog Breeds That Make Devoted Pets, Says a Trainer
When it comes time to add a pup to your family, there are tons of popular dog breeds to choose from. Of those, are dog breeds that are confident and loyal who stand out from the crowd as they have traits that make them bolder than others. If that type of pet sounds like the perfect companion you, you may be wondering,"What are the boldest dog breeds?" After all, there are countless types of dogs you can adopt. To help you narrow down the best choices, we rounded up 6 bold dog breeds that make devoted pets, according to a trainer.
So, why should you get a bold dog breed to begin with? "A bold dog isnât loud and aggressive," states Bridget Murphy, the co-founder and CEO of KoruK9.com and LunaDogAI.com. "A bold dog is confident enough to take up space in the world. You literally can feel their energy when they walk into a room. They move forward when something feels unfamiliar instead of shrinking away from it, but they do so with caution, not recklessness or reactivity. These dogs also tend to be curious, persistent and emotionally strong, which is exactly why theyâre amazing pets in the right home. Though Murphy notes that these pups tend to be the best dog breeds for confident owners. "Bold dogs need dog parents who work hard to build mutual trust and respect and a solid relationship and obedience."
To learn more about these ride-or-die pups and see which ones make great pets, keep reading. You may be surprised to find that her recommendations include both big dogs and small dogs. She also shares what you can do as a pet parent to one of these furry companions to help them feel safe and truly shine.

What are the boldest dog breeds? German Shepherds are one of them! These bold dog breeds are known for brains and remarkable intelligence, which is why they tend to have jobs in law enforcement, search and rescue, and as guide dogs. "Everybody knows how smart Shepherds are, and right or wrong, they tend to make decisive decisions if they are left to make them on their own," Murphy states.
Yet, GSDs aren't all brains, theyâre brave, loyal, and full of heart too, which is why they make great pets. "These large dogs are also known to be protective, making them good guard dogs as they tend to develop deep bonds with their people," Murphy says. "This working breed can be extremely biddable. With the right breeding and genetics, Shepherds are confident dogs who are able to withstand and confront pressure rather than avoiding it."
Murphy adds that German Shepherds thrive with owners who provide consistent structure, clear rules, and plenty of mental and physical stimulation. Learning the personality and temperament of this bold dog breed helps ensure a devoted, confident, and well-adjusted dog.

With proper guidance, Pit Bulls are loyal, devoted companions that prove why bold dog breeds deserve respect.

They tend to be very bonded to their human."
Murphy adds that Chihuahuas thrive in calm, structured homes that respect their boundaries. They do best with owners who provide consistent guidance and avoid coddling just because they are small, especially when it comes to picking them up or carrying them. To raise a happy, confident and well-adjusted companion, it's important to provide plenty of mental stimulation, positive training and opportunities for socialization.

"Once they have decided something is their target, they do not back down," Murphy, a professional trainer, notes. For this reason, Murphy adds that Dachshunds thrive in homes with sturdy owners who respect their boundaries and provide outlets for both physical and mental enrichment.

Big Girl Tortie-Calico Mix Sits Just Like a Human and People Can't Get Enough
One of the best parts of being a pet parent is watching their wacky, wild, and sometimes questionable personalities unfold. Dogs will do things like scream for another chew (my rescue does this every morning), but cats are a little more complex.
For instance, Bean is a gigantic Tortie-Calico girl (I mean HUGE), but that's not the most interesting thing about her. She likes to sit upright like a human, and honestly, we can't look away!
Closeup of a Tortoiseshell cat looking into the camera. You may have read my "huge" description of Bean as a pretty big cat or even a large kitty, but no. I mean, she's a humongous, gigantic, rotund, colossal chunk of a feline, sitting up on the floor like it's her job.
It's really just best if you see for yourselfâno body-shaming allowed!
@beanie0514Bean says hello TikTok đââŹđ€ #cat #cats #catsoftiktiok #catlover #fyp
⏠original sound - Bean đââŹThis Tortie is big and proud, unafraid to be her weird, unique self, and that's pretty great. She may not be saving lives or finding the cure for cancer, but I'd say she's just as important for gifting the world with her presence. We are now #blessed because of this queen.
I now know my life has been split into two: before knowing about Bean, and after. I'll never be the same. She reminds me so much of a Tuxedo cat named Big Martha, who loves to hunt hair ties, and I'm sure they'd be BFFs, doing big girl things together.

Bean Is Trying To Lose Weight, So ChillThe adorable kitty started out as any other, but having to live apart from her mom for some time meant those who cared for her *may* have possibly overfed her just a tad. Those treats were just too yummy!
All jokes aside, yesâBean's on a diet, and she's trying to get healthier, but it takes time. While she loses a few pounds, we can all appreciate Bean for being Bean!
@beanie0514I hope this answers some questions! Feel free to comment anything else you would like to know đââŹđ€ #fyp #catsoftiktok #cattok #cat #petsoftiktok #catlover #progress
⏠original sound - Bean đââŹIt doesn't matter if this Calico cutie is on the heavy side or needs to lose a few pounds, because she'll still be 100% perfect. When in doubt, Bean's here to remind you to love all versions of yourself!

Little Pug Is the Picture of Confusion During First Car Wash and We Can't Look Away
As any car wash owner will tell you, a clean car drives better. Unfortunately, for some pet parents, however, all the cost savings from less maintenance and improved fuel efficiency are likely to get redirected to pet therapy.
That certainly appears to be the case for Sydney, the Pug, who is going through her first (and last) car wash!
Poor girl!
In a hilarious TikTok clip, the Pug seems utterly confused as the family car makes its way through the car wash. As brushes and flaps bombard the vehicle's exterior, she looks left, then right, and then up and down. Her big eyes seem even larger than usual as she tries to figure out whatâs going on! She looks so worried. The poor dear!

We think that's probably for the best, based on this little lady's face!

Fans canât get enough of this concerned cutie and definitely felt sorry for her!

âAm I in hell?â added another. âWas I not a good girl?â
âI think thatâs how they feel about fireworks, too,â a third said. âWe are under attack.â
I remember my children had a similar reaction the first time I took them through a car wash. Luckily, they recovered much more quickly and even came to enjoy it. It's hard not to find yourself almost hypnotized by those spinning brushes, wagging flaps, and all those soap bubbles. For Sydney, however, this was more traumatizing than mesmerizing.Â
Can Dogs Stay in the Car for a Car Wash?It really depends on the individual dog's temperament. While some dogs enjoy the experience, others (like our pal Sydney) find the water pressure and machinery distressing. With that, pet parents should only take calm dogs through the car wash, experts advise.
Regardless, Sydney is just the cutest little girl. I hope she recovers from this trauma soon.
Call me optimistic, but I bet after mealtime and a nap, this will all be forgotten!
Orange Tuxedo Calico Cat Looks Just Like an Everything Bagel
Some cats are orange. Some cats are Calico. Some cats look like they got dressed up for a formal event. And then thereâs this kitty, who somehow looks like an everything bagel.
In the adorable clip, a gorgeous mixed-color cat strolls across a bathroom counter, meowing loudly like she has something important to announce. She appears to be wearing orange âpants,â a tuxedo-style, black-and-white head, and scattered patches of color that make it nearly impossible to categorize her with a single label. Sheâs walking. Sheâs vocal. She's seasoned. She's spicy.
@thejacketcat ⏠suono originale - KittyThe super-cute TikTok clip was shared by @thejacketcat, and the comments section immediately turned into a classification debate. One person wrote, ââWhat kind of cat do you have?â Yes.â Another simply said, âEverything bagel,â and honestly, that might be the most accurate answer.
Related: Orange Corgi Mix Looks Like an Orange Sherbet Ice Cream Cone
Others leaned into the food comparisons. âA cat for people who love Neapolitan ice cream,â someone wrote. Another joked, âShe got dipped in cheese.â And then there was the question every vet receptionist has probably faced at some point: âDo you mark her down as a Calico, Tuxedo, ginger, or all of the above at the vetâs office? Long and short-haired?!? Sheâs just everything. I love it.â
Even the slightly chaotic comment, âAww, poor baby was last to the bag of parts. Thems all mismatched. Still adorable, nonetheless!â felt affectionate. Because no matter how you describe her coloring, the final verdict is unanimous: She is beautiful.
What makes her so cool is how confidently she carries it. She doesnât look confused about her aesthetic. She looks like she planned it. Like, yes, I am orange, black, white, and dramatic. And yes, I will be meowing about it.
She isnât one thing. Sheâs all of it.
Are All Calico Cats Female? @inspirationrainhow much do you think heâd sell for on ebay? #cattok #catfacts #catgenetics #interesting #cutecat #calico #kitty
⏠Maxwell the Cat Theme - CatbycatMost Calico cats are female due to genetics. The orange-and-black color combination is linked to the X chromosome, which means two X chromosomes are typically required for the classic Calico pattern.
Male Calico cats do exist, but they are extremely rare and usually have a genetic variation that gives them an extra chromosome.
So while not every multicolored kitty is technically a Calico, the genetics behind these striking patterns are part of what makes cats like this one so special.

Golden Retriever 'Made His Own Bath' and It's Quite Impressive
My dogs absolutely hate taking a bath. The minute they hear the tub running, they both high-tail it into hiding. No matter how comfortable and relaxing I try to make it for them, both my Dachshund and my Pug mix count the seconds until they can jump out and do that notorious dog shake, hoping never to return to the dreaded tub.
River the Golden Retriever has a very different outlook on his fur-washing regimen and doesn't even wait for his mom to get started.
@notjoanmckenzieSecond time this week #onthisday #foryoupage #goldenretriever
⏠Funny - Gold-TigerIn the TikTok from @notjoanmckenzie, River's mom walked toward the sound of water running in the bathroom. She heard a lot of commotion and splashing, but had no idea what was going on. When she walked in the bathroom, she saw River in the tub enjoying a good soak.
"I woke up and my dog made his own bath," the onscreen text read, with the caption adding, "Second time this week."
Even though River had previously decided to take a dip on his own, his mom was still surprised.
"River, what are you doing?" she exclaimed, yet couldn't help laughing.
The gorgeous Golden whipped his head around in surprise when his mom called him, but didn't seem to feel any remorse. Most of his fur was wet as he pawed and splashed at the water, though there didn't appear to be any shampoo or soap products. Maybe he just wanted to cool off or go for a makeshift swim. Regardless, River was having a blast of a bath.
River Also Loves the PoolApparently, the aquatically inclined canine gravitates toward any water-holding structure and apparently has no self-control when it comes to taking a dip.
"Itâs a struggle," his mom wrote in the comments. "I canât go anywhere with a pool because he jumps headfirst."
Followers were amazed at River's ability to prep his own bath, and suggested his name may have something to do with his affinity for water.

"You named him River â what do you expect?" one pointed out.
"He was just trying to get his bath out of the way so it was one less thing for you to have to worry about," another remarked.
"I guess you need to change the faucet handles for the tub," a follower posted.
"Donât yell at him. You named him River. Heâs fulfilling the prophecy," someone noted.
From now on, maybe his mom should keep the bathroom door locked.

Golden Retriever Puppy Has No Idea Heâs Being Watched, and Itâs Too Funny
Even adorable, well-behaved puppies should know: someone is always watching. And in the case of Hank, it's his parents -- and around 400K other TikTok fans.
As the clip explains, 14-week-old Golden RetrieverHank was left alone and out of his crate for the first time while his humans kept tabs on him via their pet cam. What ensued is some of the most wholesome content the internet has to offer. Hank "got every toy out" of his basket, playing and bouncing around the living room with abandon. He does take a moment to look curiously at the camera, as if knowing something is up, but then happily returns to his busy schedule of wrestling with his stuffies and biting his own paws. Hank is truly on his best behavior, and it's clear he makes his parents very proud.
@syd.hummertI think he got every toy outâŠ. but what a good boy!! #funny #goldenretriever #dog #puppy #cratetraining #goodboy #love #hank
⏠Stealthy mischief(1088178) - KBYSHe receives praise and awe from people in the comments as well. One person says, "An angel just playing with his toys đ„ș"
While others are amazed by his maturity, "My three-year-old husky wouldâve burned the house down."
And some even cite their own puppy horror stories, "I tried this, and my $2,500 couch was his toy for the day." Ouch.
The very best part of Hank's hijinks? There's a part two:

When Is It OK to Stop Crate Training?Experts agree that when to allow your dog free rein of the house depends on each pup. However, it is widely recommended that parents wait until at least one year of age before releasing their hound(s). At this age, most dogs are showing a certain level of maturity and trustworthiness, are fully potty trained, and have outgrown any destructive behavior. But dogs achieve these milestones at different rates, so each family needs to decide when to stop relying on a crate based on its own comfort -- and courage -- level. Hank's parents are obviously very brave.
Some benefits of crate training are as follows:
- Makes potty training easier:Â Dogs naturally avoid messing where they sleep, which helps reinforce good bathroom habits.
- Creates a safe space:Â A crate keeps your dog out of trouble when you canât keep eyes on them.
- Helps calm anxious pups:Â It gives dogs a familiar place to retreat and self-soothe during storms, fireworks, or chaotic household moments.
- Cuts down on destruction:Â Crates prevent bored or overstimulated dogs from taking their energy out on furniture and shoes.
- Builds healthy independence:Â Learning to settle alone helps reduce separation anxiety over time.
- Makes travel and vet visits easier:Â A dog whoâs comfortable in a crate is usually calmer in the car, at the vet, or during boarding.
I know many families with mature dogs who are no longer crate training but have left their dog's crate out and available for them to use at the pup's discretion. Thanks in part to consistent, constructive training, many dogs regard their crate as a positive place that's safe, calming, and all their own.
