TikTok user Sydney (@syd.hummert) shared an incredible video of their 14-week-old baby Golden Retriever puppy, Hank. It looks like Hank's family wanted to make his day special and thought taking him on a car ride to stop and get a pup cup would be a good experience. And they were right—but it's not just a life-changing experience for him, but us, too, because Hank is putting on the cutest show. 

Look at him cradling that pup cup! Hank doesn't want to let go of the cup and is determined to lick every last drop out of it. His paws are so small but charmingly too big for his little body, while they're also the perfect size for a double grip on this cold treat.

In the comments, people shared their love for Hank and expressed how much his world has just changed now that he knows delicious food like this exists.

What Is a 'Pup Cup?'

Hank clearly gives this summer or anytime treat for dogs his four paws up, and he's not alone. It's a pretty popular treat for pups, and it's easier to make than it sounds. 

According to Englishtown Vet MD, a pup cup is a silly term for a small cup of whipped cream, often offered for free at a coffee shop or fast-food restaurant. Some offer extras in the cup, like a dog biscuit or a swirl of peanut butter. 

These are definitely considered treats for dogs and not something they should have all the time (since it might upset their stomach), but for a special occasion or outing, watching a pup enjoy their treat is priceless.

This winter just won't quit. The East Coast has already been pummeled by snow, and it looks like more is on the way this weekend.

Additionally, much of the country is experiencing record-low temperatures that just won't quit.

It's a lot for humans to deal with, and it is a lot for dogs as well.

Now, some dogs are a little better at braving the winter temperatures than others, especially if their breed is used to the snow and even thrives in it (hello, Huskies!)

But for other dog breeds, like Dachshunds, snow isn't always their favorite.

When they are low to the ground with fine hair, it is a little tougher for these guys.

In fact, according to The Puppy Mag, because of their long bodies, they have a large surface area, which also contributes to making it harder for them to retain heat.

Now, Longhaired Dachshunds fare a little better in these cold temperatures, but they still get cold pretty quickly.

Even if you cover them in coats and layers, their proximity to the ground when it is cold and damp makes it tough.

This Dachshund Is Not Loving the Snow

We see that in a new video from the account @thejuarezdachshunds. This family has three short-haired Mini Dachshunds, and in this video, one of them can barely walk in the snow because the pup has so many layers on, and it's too cute.

This Dachshund, whose name we don't know, has on a sweater, a vest with fur trim over the coat, and then a headwrap of some sort so the dog can barely see when he's walking.

Though it doesn't seem like he loves the snow, as the many layers are preventing the pup from his usual rapid-fire movements, his tail is wagging (but maybe that is just the only part of the body the little dog can freely move?).

The video also includes the common TikTok sound effect for dogs in inclement weather, which says, "This is a waste of time. We could have been in a bar having a nice cocktail. We could have had a coffee."

At least his Dachshund sibling also seemed to be at the same level of enthusiasm about the snow and had on an equally ridiculous winter outfit.

There are big dogs. And then there are walking clouds with legs. This massive, white Samoyed is the size of a snowdrift and somehow still manages to be the gentlest creature in the room.

The two chase each other around, wrestle softly, and at one point, the Samoyed gently places a paw on the kitten’s head like he’s blessing her. It is painfully cute. The size difference alone should not work. But it does.

This story and video are so familiar to me because I swear this is exactly what happened when we took in our foster Calico kitten, Elvis. We bottle-fed her. She was tiny and chaotic and loud. And our Pomeranian fell in love immediately. Not in a tolerates-her way, but in a this-is-my-baby way. He followed her around. Let her climb on him. Slept near her. Licked her every chance he got. We were supposed to foster.

Isabel Klee is a well-known animal advocate and has fostered approximately 30 dogs to date. She often takes on canines with serious health and behavioral challenges, and is currently fostering a fur baby who had a serious medical issue.

Raven the adorable black-and-white rescue dog had a one-pound mass on her hind area causing her great pain. The precious pooch recently had it removed via surgery and is now enjoying life to the fullest.

In the TikTok from @simonsits, Klee shared details of Raven's remarkable transformation since her life-changing operation.

"It's officially been one week since Raven's surgery, and I cannot even explain to you guys how much she has changed over this week," Klee said as she cuddled Raven in her arms.

The video showed the extensive damage that the mass caused Raven. The foster dog needed several vet visits and had to wear a cone to prevent further damage to her body.

"When we got Raven in, she was pretty down on her luck," the foster mom remarked. "She didn't have a lot of energy. We could tell she was really in pain."

Raven Is Now Thriving

Raven had a miraculous improvement since her surgery. Klee updated her followers and provided highlights of how Raven has changed.

"This week, she has completely blossomed," Klee shared. "Her silly personality is coming out."

The sweet pup ran around with a spring in her step as she tried to play with her fur baby brother, Simon. Her tail wagged as Klee described her as "a totally different dog" just one day after surgery.

Raven's appetite clearly returned and she's enjoying full meals. Klee revealed that the foster pup is more affectionate now that she feels better and loves to give kisses and snuggles. She even "gets really upset" if Klee stops petting her.

Raven loves toys and bones, and even gets "a little naughty" at times by chewing on Simon's bone-shaped pillow.

The closing scene of Raven contentedly getting her belly rubbed showed how much progress she's made physically and emotionally, with the onscreen text noting, "Truly being able to relax for the first time."

Well, truth be told, that’s actually a Pug named Rosie, whose likeness to a seal is uncanny!

“Going back to the ocean tomorrow,” Rosie’s family captioned an adorable clip on TikTok.

This is hilarious! Rosie looks just like a seal! Substitute a pair of flippers for her little paws, give her some oversized whiskers, and you now have an indoor seal!

This, of course, got me thinking about whether Pugs are descendants of seals.

After some quick internet research, I can say with certainty that there’s no connection whatsoever!

Where Did Pugs Come From?

Pugs originated in ancient China (around 2,000 years ago) and were kept by emperors and nobility. They were not bred to hunt, guard, or do anything, really. They were quite hilariously designed to sit with royalty, provide companionship, and look cute.

With that in mind, Rosie is definitely 100% Pug! Mission accomplished!

At the same time, if we played around with AI and threw an arctic backdrop into the video and added some fake whiskers to Rosie’s face, she would absolutely pass as a seal hanging out on an ice platform!

Regardless, Rosie is just the cutest, and I can’t wait to see more of her videos, whether they happen to be filmed in her family’s living room or somewhere in the Arctic!

Actress Alicia Silverstone is being praised by animal lovers on Instagram after helping to save a terrier mix who was scheduled for euthanasia. But that's not where this sweet story ends. As if! What unfolds next makes this rescue even more remarkable—and leads to a decision that no one -- including Silverstone -- saw coming.

As she explains in the post's caption, "Six weeks ago, a pregnant mama dog was scheduled to be euthanized at a shelter. I heard about it and couldn’t take it… so I started making calls. Helen Woodward Animal Center stepped in and saved her. That same day, she gave birth to 14 puppies. 12 survived."

In the TikTok from @susanrichards.author, Bunny's mom placed the adorable pup on the table to gear up for the cold outdoors.

The precious Pug didn't look particularly pleased to be suiting up for the cold, but she cooperated with the bundling process. The canine cutie is just a little over two months old and came from a very difficult environment.

Rescue Mom Is Best-Selling Author

Bunny's mom is author Susan Richards. Her best-selling memoir, Chosen By a Horse, shared her experience rescuing a former racehorse and the unbreakable bond that blossomed throughout their journey together. She actively gives animals in need a new home, and Bunny is her most recent family member.

"Bunny is my aunt's newest rescue," the video explained. "She's rescued cats, dogs, and horses."

Another rescue Pug appeared in the video and was obviously headed for a quick trip outside with Bunny.

Despite what many people might assume, Theo isn’t a mixed breed. His mom has explained in other posts that his long coat is due to a recessive gene mutation known as FGF5, which affects hair length in dogs.

According to the UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory, the FGF5 gene plays a key role in determining coat length in dogs. When dogs inherit two copies of the recessive mutation, their hair continues to grow longer rather than stopping at a short length. This mutation has been identified in many breeds, including those not typically known for long coats, which explains how a full Pit Bull like Theo can end up with such an unexpectedly fabulous look.

The dogs that find themselves touting the coveted title of 'Best in Show' at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show put in a lot of hard work, training, and grooming, even to get a chance at being top dog. All that work starts long before the competition.

Over the 150 years of the show, a wide variety of pups have won the top honor. The competition has seen terriers, poodles, bulldogs, whippets, and more. Winners have come from every size and class. Tyrion proves unstoppable as he takes on steep hills and natural obstacles, relying on just his front legs and his problem-solving skills to overcome each barrier. His mom, Dagmar, is unwavering in her support of him, but she does a commendable job of cheering him on from a distance and allowing Tyrion to figure out each hurdle on his own.

Yarborough, University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Orange County Extension agent in livestock and natural resources. 

“Yield is the most obvious metric, which is how many eggs a bird lays each week and how consistent the laying schedule is,” he says. “Temperament matters as well because a docile flock is easier to handle and some breeds of chicken are just more docile than others. Overall adaptability is also important and is based on things like heat tolerance, how resistant the chickens are to common pests and whether they can thrive with the level of feed and care your yard can provide."

If you're thinking of getting chickens, you’ll also want to keep in mind what size the birds will be when they mature. “Bigger/older hens will bully or harass smaller/younger bird,” Yarborough says. “So, if getting a variety of breeds for your flock, consider getting breeds with similar mature size.”

One other thing you may want to think about before getting chickens is what color eggs they will lay. “A chicken's breed determines their egg color, not their nutrition or environment,” Yarborough says. “So, if you know you are wanting blue eggs or olive eggs, you will need to research and find breeds that are known to lay those colors of eggs.”

Plus, these hens should lay about 200 medium-sized light-tan eggs a year."

If maximum egg production is your goal, Steele suggests getting Australorp as they are one of the best egg-laying chicken breeds. “Australorps are not only very hardy, docile hens, they consistently hold the record for the breed that lays the most eggs,” she says. “In fact, an Australorp set the world record when she laid 364 light brown eggs in 365 days, which is pretty much unheard of.”

The TikTok from @cbsnewscolorado shared how the cat was lost in a blizzard after a car crash near the Eisenhower and Johnson Tunnels at 11,000 feet.

"Icy conditions up here led to the car with the cat getting rear-ended around the tunnels here," reporter Spencer Wilson explained. "When they pulled over to check the damage, the cat ended up getting out and running into the woods."

At the time, there was a blizzard hitting in full force which made a rescue team race against the clock to reach Aria.

"Dispatchers got word to the Summit Lost Pet Rescue, a group of nonprofit volunteers who work on calls just like this," the story continued.

Harsh Conditions Made Rescue a Challenge

Though the rescue organization was used to searching for lost animals in bad weather, the conditions during this particular rescue operation were especially difficult.

"The winds were also blowing snow into the area," rescue team member Shelly Wasson said, according to CBS News. "So all the little nooks and crannies that she could have got into were filling up with snow and making it more difficult for us to try to find her."

The team searched for 6 days until they finally were able to locate the lost cat.

"I know I'd looked under this same log at least two or three times before," Wasson explained. "But this time the snow was completely gone. I got under there, and of course, she's a gray striped tabby, so she blended in quite well with a dead log, but I spotted her... She was covered in snowballs... I don't know how much longer she could have lasted out there. She was so cold."

Moose, a TV-watching Corgi, is charming social media viewers simply by the way he sits while watching his favorite TV show with his favorite human. Moose isn’t content to sit on a human’s lap or, gasp, nearby on the living room floor. This Corgi knows the good spot on the couch, and he’s claiming it as his. With a pup this cute to watch TV with, who wouldn’t give up prime couch real estate to accommodate their adorable Corgi?

In a video shared to social media, Moose can be seen hunkered down on the couch watching TV with dad. What stands out about Moose’s TV night is the way he sits, perched like a human on his backside, slightly slouched, with his paws stretched forward. Moose even comments on the show by barking, as if he’s a canine TV reviewer.

Why Corgis Sit Like Humans

While Moose’s way of sitting is charming viewers, this precious pup isn’t the only Corgi known to sit like a human. Corgis often sit on their backsides or in other unique positions thanks to their long bodies and stocky legs. In addition to sitting upright like Moose, corgis often adopt a “side-sit,” where they rest on one hip rather than both hind legs. Corgis are also famous for their adorable sploot, belly down with legs stretched out behind them, and these quirky sitting positions are usually a sign of comfort.

Corgis often choose a preferred sitting position from a young age as a way to stretch their backs and hips.

Other dog breeds are known for their distinctive sitting positions based on body type as well. Dachshunds, like corgis, are known for their charming sploots. Pugs, Shih-Tzus, and Boston Terriers can also be found sitting on their backsides, while bulldogs are known to sleep on their backs for comfort and maximum cute factor.
