One person was fatally injured and two others injured in a two-vehicle accident on eastbound Interstate 44, 610 feet east of the Route D west overpass, on Sun., Aug. 23 at 6:45 p.m.

Helping Fathers held its first annual dart tournament on Saturday, sponsored by the Eagles, Play-Mor, Bruce Thurmond and the Oak Grove Shooting Supplies. Helping Fathers is a new non-profit organization for fathers and their families, assisting families in conflict and reminding fathers of their rights and responsibilities. UPDATE 3: Luke Mayer ran for a 45-yard touchdown with 10:40 left in the game to give Sullivan a 26-12 lead.
Lucas Budnik subsequently hit Phillip Wright for a 45-yard touchdown pass 19 seconds later.
Budnik completed another touchdown pass to Wright with 2:38 left, but the Bearcats could not get the ball back.
Both Mayer and Wright had four touchdowns to lead their respective teams.

English Country Dance Sat., Sept. 5 At St. Anthony

An English Country Dance, featuring Hibernia Station, will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church Hall, 119 West Springfield Rd., on Sat., Sept. 5 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The cost for the event is $5 per person or $20 per family.
According to organizers, there is no experience necessary, no partner required and no age limit to participate in the event.

Mon., Aug. 2 - Anthony D. Buck, age 31 of Sullivan, was arrested on a Crawford County warrant for the charge of tampering first degree and on a Jefferson County warrant for the charge of nonsupport.

The American Legion of Bourbon, MO now has its own land, which was purchased on July 30 at the Alliance Title Co. in Sullivan, MO.
Pictured, left to right, Kim and Jim Bell are presenting the deed to Earl Simmerly, adjutant and spokesperson for Post 81, and Theresa Schatz, representing Alliance Title Co.
Post 81 plans are to build their first Legion post home. They were temporary charter January 1943 and full charter January 1947.

Back-To-School Fair, Preschool Screening

A back-to-school fair will be held at Cuba Elementary on Thurs., Aug. 5 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Vaccinations will be available.
Free Tdap shots (tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis) may be offered to students that are entering eighth through 12th grade.
Varicella shots will not be offered. Kindergarten students are required to have a second dose prior to enrolling.
A preschool make-up screening will be held on Thurs., Aug. 12 at the Bourbon Elementary campus.

The first day of classes for students will be on Tues., Aug. 17.  The school day will start at 7:30 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m.
