1980 Olivia Newton-John Hit Began Four-Week Reign at No. 1 46 Years Ago Today

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 2:51pm

Forty-six years ago today, Olivia Newton-John's "Magic" began a four-week reign atop the Billboard Hot 100, cementing its place as one of the biggest pop hits of 1980.

Released in May 1980 as the lead single from the Xanadu soundtrack, "Magic" reached No. 1 during the first week of August in 1980, where it remained for four consecutive weeks before being replaced by the Christopher Cross hit "Sailing."

Written and produced by Newton-John's longtime collaborator John Farrar, the dreamy pop ballad became one of the defining songs of her career. Along with topping the Hot 100, it spent five weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart, making it the biggest Adult Contemporary hit of Newton-John's career. It also reached No. 1 on the Cash Box Top 100 and topped Canada's RPM singles chart.

By the end of the year, Billboard ranked "Magic" as the No. 3 song of 1980, trailing only Blondie's "Call Me" and Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall (Part II)."

A Hit That Outshined Its Movie

When Xanadu arrived in theaters in August 1980, it paired Newton-John with Hollywood legend Gene Kelly in a colorful musical fantasy featuring songs by Newton-John and Electric Light Orchestra.

Although the film received mixed-to-negative reviews and underperformed at the box office, its soundtrack became a major commercial success.

Years later, Newton-John looked back on the experience with characteristic optimism, calling it a "character-building" bomb in music historian Fred Bronson's"The Billboard Book of Number One Hits."

"I don't regret it or anything I've done. I learned a lot and the music was successful. I would have been upset if the music flopped," said the superstar.

The soundtrack ultimately produced five Top 20 Billboard hits, including "Magic," "Xanadu" with Electric Light Orchestra, "Suddenly" with Cliff Richard, ELO's "I'm Alive" and "All Over the World."

One of Olivia Newton-John's Biggest Career Hits

Coming just two years after the worldwide success of Grease, "Magic" proved Newton-John's remarkable chart dominance was far from over.

Its lush production, soaring melody and effortless vocal performance helped make it one of the defining songs of 1980, while Farrar's polished songwriting perfectly complemented Newton-John's unmistakable voice.

More than four decades later, "Magic" remains one of the signature recordings of Newton-John's career, and its four-week run at No. 1 stands as another reminder of just how dominant she was on the pop charts at the dawn of the 1980s.

Newton-John died in August 2022 at the age of 73 after a long battle with breast cancer, but songs like "Magic" continue to introduce new generations of listeners to one of pop music's most enduring voices.

This David Fincher-Directed Film Was Just Named the Most Perfect Thriller Since 2000

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 2:44pm

Fans of the thriller genre have countless well-crafted, suspenseful films to choose from for a relaxing (or not so relaxing) night in. Collider recently released a ranking that thriller enthusiasts who need new recommendations will likely appreciate.

The list, titled "the 6 most perfect thrillers released since 2000," included titles like 2014's Nightcrawler, Gone Girl, also released in 2014, and 2007's No Country for Old Men. According to Collider, the top thriller movie of the last 26 years is the David Fincher-directed 2007 film Zodiac, inspired by the Northern California-based Zodiac Killer's murders and the crimes' aftermath.

While recording commentary for the movie's DVD, Fincher shared that certain aspects of his life as a young boy in the late '60s, when the Zodiac Killer's crimes were committed, made their way into Zodiac. He explained he has a memory of listening to the 1969 song "Easy to Be Hard" by Three Dog Night when he became aware that there was a serial killer in San Francisco.

"There's so many things that are kind of oddly personal in this, more kind of psychedelic San Francisco kind of music, and finally we got to the Three Dog Night [song]. It was odd because I was in second or third grade when this whole thing happened. And I remember so vividly driving through Sonoma from Vallejo, it's an area known as Black Point. And I remember being in the back of my parents' '65 Impala. And the windows were rolled down. It was the beginning of summer, and you could smell eucalyptus. And this song was playing on the radio," said the director.

In addition, he noted that the film focuses on the infamous letters from the serial killer, whose identity has still not been discovered, rather than the grisly nature of the crimes.

"The Zodiac letters to me were kind of the most important hook in the movie, they were certainly the biggest hook for me as a kid. The notion that somebody was offering you an insight into their kind of psychological makeup, and there's something about the graphic nature of his writing and the way that his moniker and his brand, there's something really fascinating about that," said Fincher in the DVD commentary.

Fincher also shared that he believes Zodiac, which follows members of the San Francisco Chronicle, is "a newspaper story" rather than "a serial killer movie."

"And that gradually becomes a story about justice or the obsession with justice," explained Fincher.

Zodiac, written by James Vanderbilt, holds a score of 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and 79 on Metacritic.

Shania Twain's Rarely Seen Son Resurfaces in New Studio Video

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 2:43pm

Shania Twain fans got something they rarely see this week, namely, a real glimpse of her son. The country icon shared a series of behind-the-scenes clips from the making of her new album, "Little Miss Twain," and tucked among the studio footage was a rare video of her 24-year-old son, Eja Lange, working at a laptop.

Twain shares Eja with her first husband, producer Robert "Mutt" Lange, whom she was married to from 1993 to 2010. Unlike his famous mother, Eja has kept a low profile for most of his adult life, and even his own Instagram page focuses almost entirely on his music rather than his personal life. The new footage, posted as part of a carousel celebrating the album's release, marked one of the few times fans have seen him as an adult.

Related: Shania Twain Reveals Why She Skipped Taylor Swift's Wedding

The clip is more than a passing cameo. Eja, now a music producer in his own right, actually helped work on the new record, continuing a creative partnership that began years earlier. Their first credited collaboration came in 2023, when Eja contributed to the track "Number One" from Twain's album "Queen of Me." At the time, Twain kept his involvement a surprise, later explaining she didn't want to build up his expectations before the song was finished.

View this post on Instagram

Twain has described "Little Miss Twain," which arrived July 24, as her most personal project yet, built around reflections on her childhood and the people who shaped who she became. In her caption accompanying the studio clips, she thanked the collaborators, friends and family who helped bring the record to life, singling out her son for a specific note of appreciation. She's previously said similar things about their working relationship, telling interviewers in years past that the two send each other ideas and occasionally end up in the studio together.

What a treat for longtime fans, as Twain hasn't offered much about her son beyond the occasional childhood throwback photo. This latest glimpse, arriving alongside her most autobiographical album to date, offers a small window into a powerful mother-son musical relationship.

Why Is RFK Jr. Suddenly Jealous of Don Jr.?

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 1:56pm

RFK Jr. is jealous of DJT Jr. Why is Donald Trump’s Secretary of Health and Human Services envious of the President’s son? Well, to start with, it has nothing to do with the White House, a clash of famous families, or politics.

Don Jr. probably has a lot to be envious of. His wealth, his five adorable children, and of course, his glam new bride Bettina Trump. But Robert F. Kennedy Jr.also has a lot going on for himself. Not only is he a current Cabinet member, but he’s also a member of the iconic Kennedy clan and is married to actress Cheryl Hines. So if you’re still wondering why he’s pining for something Don Jr. has, here’s your answer.

The commander-in-chief’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., recently posted a series of pics from his return to the Bahamas. Don Jr. now-famously wed his second wife, Bettina, on a secluded private island in a chic, but decidedly low-key, ceremony back in May.

According to his recent post, the couple, Trump Jr.’s two youngest children (12-year-old Chloe Trump and 13-year-old Spencer Trump, whom he shares with ex-wife Vanessa Trump), and several close friends returned to the wedding spot and spent the weekend at Little Pipe Cay, enjoying what looks like an absolutely amazing fishing trip.

Don. Jr. shared several snapshots of the gang’s catch ( including more than a few massive lobsters), writing, “Awesome crushfest in the Bahamas this past weekend. Great friends, great food, great time! Also getting Chloe and Spencer their first lobsters was epic.”

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was one of the first to comment on DJT Jr.’s post, responding with, “Envious!” and three lobster emojis.

View this post on Instagram

Of course, RFK Jr. wasn’t the only one who wished they could have caught that stash. Commenters replied with, “So jealous, take me with you!” and, “Looks like a blast!”

Trump Jr.’s wife, Bettina, also posted a carousel of photos from the weekend getaway, captioning her pics, “Great crew, great crush, and magical memories! Nothing beats fresh lobster, salty skin, sun kissed cheeks, time with family, and friends who are family.”

And no, RFK Jr. did not comment on Bettina’s post. But plenty of her fans did, praising the fun-filled tropical beach getaway.

These sandals are a great option if your plans involve more walking than a flat slide can comfortably handle. The cushioned platform offers more protection against hard floors and sidewalks and long stretches of standing, but the open design may help keep your feet cooler than closed-toe sneakers. And since the instep strap adjusts, you can loosen or tighten the fit.

One reviewer, who bought them for a cruise, wrote, “These are perfect for travel,” adding that they’re “comfortable” and “springy,” and keep their feet cool. The buyer said they also wore the sandals over cobblestones, rocks, gravel, and dirt without issues. Another shopper shared, “This is my second pair,” and explained, “I love the firm back strap that lets me just step into these stylish, comfortable shoes.”

Minute Maid Spiked Is Launching a New Drink That Combines Two Summer Favorites

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 1:37pm

Minute Maid Spiked is adding to its already delicious lineup of drinks. The newest addition is the Vodka Lemonade Iced Tea, which offers a perfect way to end the summer.

In a press release, Minute Maid announced the expansion of its current Minute Maid Spiked® lineup, sharing that it blends all the usual refreshing elements of iced tea mixed with lemonade and vodka. Lemonade and iced tea are two of the summer’s most popular flavors for any drink — and even on their own — so it makes sense to blend them together for this adult beverage.

In fact, it’s even part of the “no duh” collection of drinks. Minute Maid Spiked® is known for the tagline “No Muss, No Fuss, No Duh,” bringing a collection of ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages. Other current cocktails include the Lime Margarita, Strawberry Daiquiri, Blue Hawaiian, and Pina Colada, among others. Many are wine-based coolers.

The idea is to bring the hand-mixed cocktails to the backyard. There’s no need to make sure you have all the ingredients and know how to get the balance just right. Minute Maid has done it all for you, with its own signature ingredients.

Lou Grill, President of Red Tree Beverages, shared that as Minute Maid looked at expanding the ready-to-drink brand, the Vodka Lemonade Iced Tea made perfect sense. He shared, “The Vodka Lemonade Iced Tea is the ideal summer beverage as a familiar favorite with the bold taste of Minute Maid Spiked®. Its inclusion in the Minute Maid Spiked® portfolio is representative of our commitment to classic flavors and broad appeal.”

The new Vodka Lemonade Iced Tea is made with real vodka and 3% lemon juice. It has a 5% ABV, and there is absolutely no fizz, making it the perfect sippable treat as the summer winds down.

Those of drinking age will be able to get the ready-to-drink beverages in an 8-pack of 12 oz. cans or as individual 16 oz. cans.

There is no date for when the first drinks will be released listed in the press release. It does make it clear that the adult iced tea is set to hit shelves “this summer,” so that could mean right away. The cans will be unmistakable with their bright gold coloring, black lettering, and Minute Maid’s signature name stamped on the front.

Why Quitting Antidepressants 'Cold Turkey' Causes a 'Shock' to Your Body, According to Psychiatrists

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 1:25pm

Centuries, and even just decades ago, there was a time when those with depression had few options when it came to feeling better. While therapy continues to be the benchmark for alleviating depression symptoms, in today’s world, medication is also a viable option to those who want extra support or have depression that hasn’t fully responded to therapy.

As of 2025, Gallup reported that 18.3% of Americans have been diagnosed with depression, which is considered “historically high.” And according to one 2026 50-state survey, 16.6% of respondents shared that they are currently taking antidepressants.

Antidepressants can also decrease symptoms of conditions that go beyond depression, such as anxiety, OCD and eating disorders.

Although antidepressants can be effective for many, there are times when you may choose to go off of your medication, whether you’ve decided to try another antidepressant or if you’ve opted to stop taking antidepressants completely. In this case, it’s important to know that you shouldn’t just quit antidepressants “cold turkey.” Withdrawals can result in uncomfortable side effects, and tapering is something that needs to be led by your provider.

Ahead, we detail the effects of tapering off antidepressants and how to do it safely.

Related: Considering Starting a New Medication for Anxiety or Depression? Here Are 7 Crucial Questions to Ask First

Why Stopping Antidepressants 'Cold Turkey' Triggers Severe Withdrawal

Dr. Bryan Shapiro, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist at UC Irvine Medical Center and Senior Medical Advisor at Outro, a company that specializes in clinician-guided tapering. He explains that when you take antidepressants for months or years, the brain adapts.

“Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) like Zoloft or Lexapro increase brain serotonin levels, and in response, serotonin receptors become less sensitive over time (a process called downregulation),” he says. “So when the medication disappears suddenly, it is extremely jarring to the brain because not only are serotonin levels suddenly reduced, but the serotonin receptors are downregulated and generally require several, several weeks to return to their baseline functioning.”

Dr. Cooper Stone, DO, Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania, calls this a “shock” to your body.

The Modern Gold Standard: What Is Hyperbolic Tapering?

“Hyperbolic tapering is based on the simple idea that cutting your drug dose by 50% doesn't reduce its effect by 50%,” Dr. Shapiro says. “In other words, the relationship between dose and brain activity isn't linear. We learned about this counterintuitive pattern from brain imaging data that emerged in the early 2000s, which directly measured the effects of serotonin-based antidepressants on their receptors in the brain, and hyperbolic tapering is the product of this idea.”

More specifically, Dr. Shapiro says that hyperbolic tapering involves reductions designed to provide a more “even” reduction in biological effects at each step, which is much less disruptive and considerably reduces the risk of withdrawal symptoms (which are listed below).

“Historically, tapers were done ‘linearly,’ and patients were stopped at doses that seemed very low, but still had considerable biological activity,” he says. “This is why withdrawal syndromes have been so common.” Hyperbolic tapering is now the method that many doctors and psychiatrists turn to.

Antidepressant Withdrawal Timeline: What To Expect and When

“With the exception of the antidepressant Fluoxetine, which stays in your body for up to several weeks at a time, patients will generally begin to feel symptoms of antidepressant withdrawal within a few days of stopping their antidepressant,” Dr. Stone says. “It can be an incredibly uncomfortable experience with patients reporting a variety of nonspecific symptoms.”

Keep in mind that gradual tapering (i.e. hyperbolic tapering) can help ease these symptoms, but going “cold turkey” can make them more prevalent and severe. It’s also important to note that these symptoms can happen if you simply miss a dose or two of your antidepressant (Dr. Shapiro says that the symptoms can come on as soon as 24 hours).

Dr. Stone says that some of these symptoms can include:

  • Full body muscle aches
  • Electric shock-like sensations (Dr. Shapiro says, “There is an interesting neurologic symptom that is unique to withdrawal from SSRI antidepressants called ‘brain zaps.’ It’s an electric-shock-like sensation that feels like it’s coming from your brain, even though your brain has no sensory or pain receptors.”)
  • Tremors
  • Abnormal skin sensations such as numbness and tingling
  • Dizziness
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia
  • Irritability
  • Nausea
  • Anxiety
  • Dysphoria (a state of unease and distress)
  • Sweating
  • Chills
  • Fatigue

“Generally, these symptoms will slowly resolve over the course of several weeks, but it’s possible it can go on for months at a time,” Dr. Stone says.

When it comes to telling the difference between antidepressant withdrawal during tapering and a full-on depression relapse, Dr. Shapiro says that the timeline is a very important factor.

“If mood symptoms occur within four weeks of stopping an antidepressant very quickly, we would generally chalk that up to withdrawal,” he says. “We also consider whether the symptoms resemble the original condition for which the antidepressant was started. Mood symptoms that are accompanied by new bodily symptoms, such as sudden dizziness, nausea or ‘brain zaps,’ is a clear indicator of withdrawal.”

How To Create a Safe, Personalized Tapering Plan With Your Doctor

Dr. Stone says that communication is key when devising a tapering plan with your doctor, something that he calls a “shared decision-making model.”

“Tapers are generally more successful when patients actively participate in deciding the pace of the taper and the method of the taper,” he notes. “There should not be a rigid, set schedule for the taper; rather, it needs to be dynamic and adapt to how the patient responds.”

Additionally, Dr. Shapiro advises asking your clinician open-ended questions about their deprescribing approach and how they go about tapering.

He says, “Are they aware of hyperbolic tapering? What would they recommend if withdrawal symptoms emerge? What would be the lowest dose they suggest before completely stopping the antidepressant?”

The 2-Ingredient Trick That Turns Welch's Grape Juice Into the Perfect Fancy Summer Drink

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 1:03pm

Concord grape juice has a reputation for being aggressively sweet. A straight glass of it on a hot afternoon usually feels way too heavy, leaving behind a thick sugar coating that does not actually quench your thirst.

Because the grape juice carries such an intense flavor, it rarely comes to mind when you are putting together a menu for a summer party or looking for something crisp to drink on the patio. Still, that high sugar content makes it a great base for a quick mocktail if you know how to break down the sweetness.

😋😋SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & more in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter🍳🍔

The classic grape lime rickey is the easiest way to cut that heavy sweetness. The trick requires just two basic supermarket ingredients to completely change how the juice tastes. By cutting the grape juice with crisp carbonation and a generous splash of fresh lime, the syrupy thickness completely disappears.

The result? You end up with a crisp, dry drink that works perfectly for warm weather and takes only seconds to assemble in a glass. It gives guests a non-alcoholic option that feels special rather than an afterthought, and it saves you from spending your entire afternoon mixing complicated drinks or boiling down custom simple syrups in a hot kitchen.

Here's how to make your own grape lime rickey at home, plus some fun variations and ways to dress up your drink.

The 2-Ingredient Trick: Unlocking the 'Grape Lime Rickey'

Courtesy Fred Hernandez

A classic lime rickey is usually a mix of gin, fresh lime juice and carbonated water, but turning it into a mocktail usually requires standing over a stove to boil water and sugar into a simple syrup. When I tried testing this version in my own kitchen, I wanted to see if skipping that stove prep actually worked.

That's where a bottle of Welch’s grape juice comes in handy. The juice completely cuts out that kitchen prep, doing all the heavy lifting by acting as your sweetener and your main fruit flavor. You don't need a cocktail shaker, a muddler or any other bar tools to pull it off either.

Making it takes under a minute. You start by filling a tall highball glass (or whatever glass you have on hand) all the way to the top with large ice cubes. Pouring the grape juice over the ice first helps because it immediately chills the liquid and thins out that intense, syrupy texture.

From there, you add a generous splash of fresh lime juice and fill the rest of the glass with cold, plain sparkling water (I used Sanpellegrino). Give it a quick stir with a spoon to mix the layers without popping all the bubbles. The dark purple liquid opens up into a bright, fizzy drink that looks great and tastes incredibly refreshing.

Why This Works: The 'Sweet and Sour' Balance

The reason this combination works comes down to a simple flavor contrast. Concord grapes have an incredibly intense sweetness that can easily overwhelm you if you drink it straight from the bottle.

On a hot summer day, your body wants something refreshing, but all that intense sugar just coats your mouth. By adding carbonation and citric acid into the glass, you completely break down that cloying sweetness. The fresh lime juice cuts straight through the syrupy texture, pulling out the brighter, punchier fruit notes of the grape that usually get lost under the sugar.

At the same time, the bubbles from the sparkling water wash the sweetness away, preventing the sugar from sticking and ensuring each sip finishes dry. It transforms the morning staple into a bright, easy-drinking summer shortcut.

How to Scale: Single Glass vs. Party Pitcher

banjongseal324 / Getty Images

Mixing this drink is incredibly easy because the proportions stay the same whether you are sitting on the porch alone or putting together a big batch for a backyard barbecue. The main thing to remember is a simple equal-parts ratio. You want to use the exact same amount of Welch's grape juice as you do Sanpellegrino sparkling water, then toss in fresh lime to balance out the sweetness.

If you are just making one glass for yourself, fill a tall glass with ice and pour in 3 ounces of grape juice. Squeeze in fresh lime juice from half a lime, fill the rest of the glass with 3 ounces of cold seltzer and give it a quick stir from the bottom to mix everything together without popping all the bubbles.

When you want to make a big batch for a party, you just need to keep the sparkling water separate until you are ready to serve. Mix 3 cups of Welch's grape juice and half a cup of fresh lime juice right in the bottom of a large pitcher and slide it into the fridge.

When people start showing up, dump in a couple of bags of ice and pour 3 cups of cold Sanpellegrino sparkling water straight over the top so the whole pitcher stays crisp and flavorful.

3 Ways to 'Dress Up' Your Grape Rickey

ArtSvitlyna / Getty Images

While the basic two-ingredient mix is great on its own, it's easy to give the drink a slightly fancier look if you are hosting a party.

  • Add fresh herb sprigs. Slapping a sprig of fresh mint or basil against your hand to release the oils and dropping it straight into the glass adds a great aroma that completely cuts through the fruity sweetness.
  • Freeze fruit ice cubes. Drop a few whole blackberries, blueberries or thin lime wheels right into your ice trays before freezing them to keep the pitcher looking decorative without watering down the flavor as the ice melts.
  • Rim the glass. Run a lime wedge around the rim of your highball glasses and dip them in coarse sparkling sugar or a little bit of lime zest for a fun, textured look that the neighborhood kids will love.
The 'Spiked' Rickey: Adult Variations

Waqar Hussain / Getty Images

If you are hosting a mixed crowd of families and adults, you can easily set up a bottle next to the pitcher so the grown-ups can upgrade their own glasses without changing the main kid-friendly batch.

  • Gin: Adding an ounce and a half of dry gin straight into the glass pulls the recipe right back to its traditional roots, adding a clean, botanical punch that balances the dark grape notes perfectly.
  • Vodka: For an easier option, a shot of plain vodka adds a clean kick while letting the sweet grape and tart lime stay front and center.
  • Rum: Pouring a splash of white rum or dark spiced rum into the glass turns the drink into a deeper, punch-style cocktail that feels perfect for an evening backyard cookout.

You really don't need a big grocery list or an afternoon spent heating up the kitchen to make something that feels special. Just keep a bottle of Welch's and some seltzer handy in the fridge.

The next time you are throwing together a quick weeknight dinner, hosting a family movie night or just need a cold drink to get you through the evening, you can build this right in your glass in under a minute.

Zendaya and Tom Holland Reportedly Held a Secret Wedding Celebration in the English Countryside

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 12:59pm

While Zendaya and Tom Holland have just wrapped their Spider-Man: Brand New Day press tour, fans are still buzzing over their speculated marriage. Reports claim the two actors held a private wedding celebration on Aug. 4.

Rumors of Zendaya and Holland tying the knot in secret have been at the center of speculation for months since Law Roach teased that “the wedding has already happened. You missed it" at the 2026 Actor Awards.

The rumors were further fueled when Zendaya began press for The Dramaand appeared at the Oscars wearing a gold wedding band. Holland had no issues seemingly confirming the rumors during the Spider-Man press tour by calling his longtime partner "wife" on multiple occasions.

According to People, based on a Deuxmoi post, sources reported that the two actors held a private party a few days ago in celebration of their wedding. The actor, alongside their family and friends, gathered at the Beaverbrook Hotel in Surrey, U.K. The luxury country house hotel was reportedly rented for over $600,000 and includes 56 rooms and suites, all located on its 370 acres. It was also reported that the location is near Holland's hometown of Kingston.

Details of the event are, of course, being kept a secret, with one source claiming, “There was very natural theme to the wedding." Holland's brothers, Sam, Harry, and Paddy, were reported to have worn black tuxedos with wildflowers placed inside the buttonholes of their jackets.

View this post on Instagram

Neither Holland nor Zendaya has publicly spoken about their nuptials, with Roach having previously commented that it's likely no one will ever see the actor's dress. Holland, for now, has also gone without wearing a wedding band.

The couple originally met while starring in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and fueled relationship rumors years later when they were caught kissing by paparazzi. Zendaya and Holland have been vocal about keeping their private lives separate from the spotlight of Hollywood, with their engagement having been speculated when she attended the 2025 Golden Globes with a diamond ring.

Details of how Holland popped the question have also been kept private, with Holland having been the first to seemingly confirm their marriage in June of this year when he debunked fake AI photos of their wedding, saying their relatives weren't fooled as "they were all there."

Zendaya has been vocal in the past about not making details of her relationship with Holland public despite being a notable figure. She said in an episode of The New York Times‘ Modern Love podcast, “In a lot of ways, I’m also a very private person, and I try my best to be able to have things for myself and for him as well.”

Britney Spears Music Video Director Reveals How She Reacted to Justin Timberlake's 2002 Breakup Text

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 12:28pm

The early 2000s were full of iconic celebrity relationships, with one of them being Britney Spears andJustin Timberlake. The pop icon's music video director for "Overprotected" details what happened when she received his breakup text.

Spears and Timberlake originally met as children on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club before their careers took off in the late 90s. Fresh off her success with "Baby One More Time," she and Timberlake would reconnect during his years with *NSYNC.

By 2000, the two would confirm their relationship during the MTV Music Video Awards and quickly became one of pop's biggest couples. From red carpet appearances to on-stage performances, Spears and Timberlake were the "it" relationship.

Their relationship would come to an end in 2002, with the media speculating about issues of infidelity. Spears detailed in her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, that Timberlake broke up with her over a two-worded text.

Director Chris Applebaum appeared on the Hyperfixated with Joseph Shepherd podcast to detail what occurred during filming of her music video "Overprotected." Timberlake's infamous text breakup occurred while Spears was on set. Applebaum reveals they were shooting on their second day on set, going into hour 20 when Spears was nowhere to be found.

“We were doing that last rain sequence,” Applebaum, 56, shared. “We were waiting and we were all set up and I didn’t know where [Spears] was. And everyone’s like, ‘We’ve been asking. We’ve been knocking on the door. She’s not coming out.' Time passed and I’m like, ‘How are we going to get this done?'”

After some time, the music video director had had enough and said, "OK, I’m going to go and f–king get Britney myself out of the trailer." He ran into the pop star's choreographer, Brian Friedman, who warned Applebau, to steer clear of the "bad situation."

Applebaum recalls walking into the trailer and asking if everything was okay, but everyone had "iron curtain eyes. They’re really dark." Spears then shows him her flip phone with the message sent by Timberlake reading, "It's over."

Understanding the situation, Applebaum offered Spears the chance to cancel the rest of the day and was ready to walk out. He explains having spotted Spears' animal crackers and being struck with inspiration.

“The other thing you could do … you could get back out there and do a performance that’s so hot that you show him that he just lost — he just messed up the best thing he’s ever had,” had," he revealed, "She … was like, ‘That’s it! You’re right! Let’s do that."

Applebaum credits Spears' memorable performance in "Overprotected" to the singer's desire to prove herself against her ex. Following their split, Timberlake released "Cry Me a River" in 2002 with a Spears lookalike that reportedly painted the pop star as a villain. In 2021, Timberlake publicly apologized to Spears.

This Iconic Kenny Rogers Hit Almost Belonged to Willie Nelson

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 12:03pm

There's no denying Willie Nelson's discography is extensive. From "Whiskey River" to "On the Road Again," the country legend has had his fair share of hits over the course of his 70-year career.

However, he once revealed that there was one iconic song that got away.

In an interview with The Today Show's Jenna Bush-Hager in 2020, Nelson, 93, shared that his good friend Kenny Rogers offered him "The Gambler."

"Through the years, he and I were big pals. In fact, he tried to get me to record 'The Gambler,'" he said. "We were somewhere, I don’t know, and he was like, ‘I’ve got this song, I think you should do it.’ And he played it for me, and I said, ‘You know, it’s a great song, but I don’t think I’ll do it.'"

According to Nelson, the song was just too long. Nelson was already performing his 100-verse hit, "Red Headed Stranger," and as he put it, "I just don’t want to do another long song on my show, and I can’t quit 'Red Headed Stranger.'"

So, Rogers recorded "The Gambler" in 1978, and the rest is history. The song went on to top the country music charts, and it won Kenny a Grammy for Best Male Country Music Vocal Performance in 1980.

Despite turning down the offer, Nelson's friendship with Rogers stayed strong. In 1989, Nelson and Rogers famously performed a duet of Nelson's song "Blue Skies," and in 2013, Rogers was honored with the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at the Country Music Awards. Sadly, Rogers passed away in March 2020 at the age of 81.

Nelson continues to make music to this day. He released his latest album, "Dream Chaser," in May 2026, becoming his 79th studio album. So, does Nelson ever plan on retiring?

"Oh yeah, I quit every night. After every tour, I say this is it. And then I get the urge again to go back," Nelson told CBS Sunday Morning in 2024.

James Bond's New 007 Could Be Cast by End of Year—Fans Are Already Picking Their Favorites

Thu, 08/06/2026 - 11:50am

Rumors have swirled for months—scratch that, years—about who will play the next James Bond. But now, thanks to a new interview with producer Amy Pascal, it looks like fans have an answer. At least, sort of.

While Pascal didn’t reveal which actors are serious contenders for 007, she did share a casting timeline. When asked about the next Bond during an interview withDeadline for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the producer said, “I would say the end of the year is a good bet. We are being really, really methodical.”

Pascal continued, “Having worked with Barbara Broccoli at the studio, I mean, Daniel Craig is a hard act to follow. And it’s got to be something really different that is stirring and exciting and different.”

Back in May, Amazon MGM Studios offered an update: “The search for the next James Bond is underway. While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.” Apparently, the time is still not right…because we’re no closer to knowing who the studio will choose.

But Amazon did announce that (obviously, based on her statement to Deadline) Amy Pascal will produce the next film in the franchise along with David Heyman, Denis Villeneuve will direct, Tanya Lapointe will executive produce, and Steven Knight will write the script.

While there’s no concrete news on who will be the next James Bond, the public has floated possible candidates including Callum Turner, Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson,Henry Cavill, Tom Holland, Theo James, and Rege-Jean Page.

Who do fans think should be cast as the new James Bond?

In a recent Reddit post, fans reacted to Pascal’s saying that the production would likely find a new Bond by the end of 2026.

“Just do James Bond No Way Home multiverse kinda thing. Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, and Daniel Craig all appear,” suggested one fan.

Others gave their opinions, adding, “All rumors seem to indicate it’s gonna be either Callum Turner or Aaron Taylor-Johnson, but I really hope they go with someone fairly unknown”, “Theo James please,” and “An under-the-radar pick would be Jack Lowden.”

The comments continued, with “Tom Holland because why the heck not,” and “Henry Cavill 100%.”

Of course, some fans had off-beat suggestions. One commenter posted, “It would be hilarious if it was Daniel Craig,” while others gave their votes to Jonah Hilland Zendaya.
