A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Nearly Had a Title More Connected to the Books

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 3:05pm

When you think if A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, you know what to expect. It’s a story of a man who becomes a knight, important enough to protect the Seven Kingdoms. However, Westeros doesn’t know him yet, and this is his story.

Sure enough, the story is based on novellas by George R.R. Martin, and it was almost called something more connected to those novellas. LIke Game of Thrones before it, the initial idea was to make it clear that this was connected to this part of the universe, but one person encouraged showrunner Ira Parker to change it all.

‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Almost Had a Sitcom Title

While speaking with Variety about the end of the first season and what to expect during the second, Parker chatted about what could have been. One of those was the title, which didn’t start off as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. It didn’t start out as The Hedge Knight, either.

Instead, Parker shared that it was going to be the nickname we have already given it: The Tales of Dunk & Egg. This all came off the back of the name that the entire set of novellas has. After all, it is the tale of the two characters, and Parker was right in saying that everyone was going to call it that anyway.

Martin wasn’t too sure, though. He knew that the title Dunk & Egg would be more of a sitcom title. It would make people think of Laverne & Shirley, rather than the epic story of an unimportant hedge knight as he proves himself. Sure, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has humor to it, like the books, but it needed something more majestic in the title than the original plan.

The problem was that Parker couldn't quite come up with it at first, and he even considered keeping Dunk & Egg for a while. It wasn't until close to the end of production that he found the sweet spot.

The Title Still Sets the Stage for the Show

The title of any show is important. It helps to set the stage of what to expect. When you think of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, you’re expecting political intrigue, war, and loyalties being tested. While The Tales of Dunk & Egg could have worked, it does add a little too much humor for some of the heartbreak that these characters do face.

Not only does it start with the loss of Ser Arlan of Pennytree, but Dunk also goes through the loss of Prince Baelor, the only man to give him a chance. The first season was more of his story than Eggs, focusing on how he became a hedge knight and how he will grow from that. The title tells us this, giving a sense of some grandeur but without the full political intrigue, suiting the nature of the entire series.

Who Won 'Jeopardy' Today? (March 30, 2026) Plus, the Final Jeopardy Answer

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 3:00pm

There are three things guaranteed in the world today: Death, taxes, and Jeopardy! being on. Believe it or not, the iconic game show has been on the air for over 60 years (though the modern incarnation we know and love technically debuted in 1984). Under the watchful eye of Ken Jennings (who himself was a record-breaking champion), Jeopardy! puts three people's trivia skills and reflexes to the ultimate test. And so many of the greats to grace those podiums started by simply watching the show as it aired on weekdays, as millions have done for over half a century.

What was Final Jeopardy today?

Final Jeopardy today was in the category "Fictional Characters."

The clue: Literary theories say the first name of this 1847 title character is meant to evoke plainness while the last name hints at a bequest.

The answer: Who is Jane Eyre?

Jamie yet again went into Final Jeopardy with the lead, doubling Father Paul's amount in second place. The clue turned out to be an infamous "Triple Stumper," as nobody got it right. For the third day in a row, Jamie played conservatively by wagering a small amount to maintain his lead. He ends the day with $22,620, for a grand total of $314,440 won so far.

1972 No. 1 Hit Became a Timeless Classic

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 2:53pm

Some songs capture the heart so completely, they never lose their shine.

In 1972, David Cassidy topped the charts with a heartfelt cover of "How Can I Be Sure" by the Young Rascals. The track quickly became a No. 1 hit in the United Kingdom and has endured as a timeless classic of the era.

The song was originally written by Felix Cavaliere and Eddie Brigati for the Young Rascals' 1967 album, Groovin'. They released it as a single for their third album in August of that year, and gave the group their fourth Top 10 hit, and it peaked in fourth place on Billboard's Hot 100 two months later. "How Can I Be Sure" was one of the many songs Cavaliere wrote that was inspired by his girlfriend at the time, Adrienne Becchuri, and served as his muse while he was writing the Groovin' album.

"She was very young, much younger than I was, and it was totally crazy. It culminated in 'How Can I Be Sure.' I woke up one day and said, 'What the hell am I doing? I’m going out with a kid.' It was strange," Cavaliere admitted to Vinyl Dialogues in 2020. The co-vocalist and keyboard player of the Young Rascals was 24 years old when he met Becchuri, who was in high school at the time. "She ended up marrying a very dear friend of mine and they had [a] couple of children together, then unfortunately she passed. That’s the story."

"How Can I Be Sure" was such a popular track that many other artists also covered the song. In 1970, British singer Dusty Springfield released her version of "How Can I Be Sure" after singing it on the Des O'Connor Show that May. She hoped it would be super successful, but the single only spent one week in the UK Top 40 and only four weeks total on the chart.

The most popular cover, sung by American actor and musician David Cassidy, was for his second solo album titled Rock Me Baby. He also covered another Rascals hit, titled "I've Been Lonely Too Long" for the same record.

"Eddie Brigati and Felix Cavaliere [were] two of the great musical influences of my teenage years [when] I thought [the Rascals] were just about the best American pop band," Cassidy wrote in his book Could It Be Forever? My Story in 2007. "[That song] brought back so many memories of that [time] for me."

Produced by Wes Ferrell, who acquired the rights to the entire Rascals discography, "How Can I Be Sure" was the lead single for Rock Me Baby and peaked at No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was the top song in the UK and Ireland for two weeks. It also had an impact on various countries around the world, such as Australia, the Netherlands and Germany.

Born in New York City and raised in West Orange, New Jersey, by actors Jack Cassidy and Evelyn Ward, David Cassidy started acting and singing after graduating from high school. A year after signing with Universal Studios in 1969, he received his big break as Keith Partridge in the musical-sitcom The Partridge Family, which led him to stardom in the 1970s, and he eventually pursued a solo music career after the TV show ended after four seasons.

In addition to acting in many movies and TV shows throughout the 1980s, 1990s and the early 2000s, Cassidy released 12 solo studio albums, three live albums and six compilations.

He revealed in 2008 at a fundraiser for the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention Council of Saratoga County, New York, that he struggled with alcoholism. The actor eventually recovered but dealt with many health issues in 2017. In November of that year, he was hospitalized for kidney and liver failure, and though doctors tried to keep him alive before a transplant was available, he passed away on Nov. 21, 2017, at 67 years old. According to his daughter, Katie Cassidy, who is also an actress, she revealed in a now-deleted tweet that her father's last words were "so much wasted time."

"This will be a daily reminder for me to share my gratitude with those I love, as to never waste another minute. Thank you," she continued.

"How Can I Be Sure" and all of Cassidy's discography are available to listen to on streaming platforms. In addition, all four seasons of The Partridge Family can be streamed for free on Tubi and The Roku Channel, or rented for $0.99 on Apple TV.

KitchenAid's First Major Mixer Upgrade in 70 Years Receives Mixed Response from Fans: 'What a Let Down'

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 2:45pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If you ask any budding home baker what their dream stand mixer is, they'll probably say a KitchenAid. It's billed as the pinnacle of all small home appliances and has long been considered the gold standard for anyone even remotely interested in learning how to make better baked goods. It sits at the very top of most "best of" lists and has transcended its utility as just another kitchen gadget, becoming an abject piece of home decor. The name itself has become a genericized trademark of sorts, with every other stand mixer brand subconsciously compared to the KitchenAid icon.

Whether it's for the novelty of having one of the most recognizable appliances ever made sitting on your countertop or you're actually serious about its utility, we can totally understand the hype. A KitchenAid mixer is like a quiet calling card that signals to others just how invested you are in your culinary escapades. It's built in a community, instant status, and it doesn't hurt that it looks pretty good, too.

That’s why when KitchenAid teased its biggest upgrade to its iconic stand mixer for the first time in 70 years, fans couldn't contain their excitement for what could possibly be in store. Unfortunately, it looks like the revamp fell a bit flat for some who were expecting something a little more revolutionary—pun intended. After getting fans whipped into a frenzy, KitchenAid finally unveiled its new Artisan Plus Stand Mixer, which includes a few thoughtful upgrades to the already-beloved countertop appliance.

In addition to adding four stunning new colorways, including a rich Sun Dried Tomato shade, the classic tilt-head stand mixer also got an integrated bowl light and a refined speed control dial that gives you greater control over the final texture you're going for. You'll also get upgraded stainless steel accessories, including a dishwasher-safe stainless steel bowl, a pouring shield, a dough hook, a whisk attachment, a flat beater and the new double flex edge beater with silicone edges that scrape the bowl as the mix, reducing the need to stop in between. As great as all those innovations sound, though, some people feel like the upgrades are a bit of "a letdown."

"This could have been an email," joked one person. "A little flashlight? This is the big reveal? 💀," quipped another fan. A few people even noticed some striking similarities to Breville's Bakery Chef stand mixer, and yours truly can confirm those suspicions. For starters, the Breville stand mixer also has an integrated bowl light and a 12-speed precision control dial, and it comes with a scraper beater with silicone edges to help reduce the number of times you have to stop and scrape the bowl.

Despite their similarities, though, the Breville stand mixer also comes with a few extras that the KitchenAid doesn't have, including a five-quart glass mixing bowl and a four-quart stainless steel mixing bowl, a stainless steel dough hook, a stainless steel balloon whisk, a flat beater, a pouring shield, a lid for the glass bowl, and an included flexible spatula to help get in between the attachments. The Bakery Chef also has an integrated timer that you can set to count down with automatic shutoff, and an easy-to-read LED speed gauge that gives you a clear guide for what to expect at each speed.

Even more so, the Breville Bakery Chef uses a whopping 550 watts of power compared to KitchenAid's 350, and it's a little lighter at 22.35 pounds compared to 28. Not only that, but pricewise, the Breville stand mixer clocks in at just $449.95, nearly $150 cheaper than KitchenAid's Artisan Plus at $599.99. That being said, the KitchenAid comes in a whopping 14 colors compared to Breville's four, and it still offers the ability to add on other attachments like a meat grinder, pasta roller and even an ice cream maker.

At the end of the day, KitchenAid is still the number one stand mixer brand in the world—and rightfully so. For the better part of 100 years, they've been shaping how we experience our kitchens, as evidenced by the massive global community of fans the brand has created. That is to say, however you feel about the new update, KitchenAid isn't going anywhere. So, what do you think? Did KitchenAid reheat Breville's nachos, or are you already dreaming about how the mixer in Wild Blueberry will look on your countertop?

Bozoma Saint John Sounds Off on New ‘RHOBH’ Castmates: 'There’s Something Going On There' (Exclusive)

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 2:39pm

Bozoma Saint John may be blunt, but that’s precisely what makes her such great TV!

With two new women entering the mix this season on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (Rachel Zoe and Amanda Frances), Saint John has strong opinions. And she’s certainly not sugarcoating them.

“Rachel is a superstar,” she says without hesitation. “She’s amazing, confident… she gives very good one-liners. I love that.”

🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

According to Saint John, what makes Rachel click with the group is simple: authenticity. “What you see is what you get. The Rachel in our group chat is the same person on camera.”

As for Amanda? That’s where things get a little more… complicated.

“I don’t believe that Amanda is always telling the truth about her life,” Saint John says plainly, pointing to what she sees as a need to present perfection. “There’s something going on there.”

She also weighed in on Amanda’s frequent mentions of designer labels and finances, suggesting it may be an attempt to fit in, but one that misses the mark.

“It’s a little crass to talk about all of that all the time,” she explains. “Especially to women who also have it.”

She also finds Amanda’s choice to talk about her income differences with her husband to be in poor taste. “I have way too much respect for Keely [Watson] to do that to him,” she says.

Related: ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Cast Net Worths Ranked in 2026: Who Is the Richest?

Over the last two seasons of RHOBH, Saint John, 49, has been remarkably open about her personal life, including her IVF journey.

“We are still hopeful,” she says. “Still trying.”

She acknowledges both the beauty and difficulty of sharing that experience publicly, especially knowing how many others are navigating similar paths.

“There are people who go through multiple rounds. Sometimes they end up with a baby, sometimes they don’t,” she says. “And then they have to make other decisions.”

The response from viewers has garnered some expected criticism. But one moment in particular stood out: A stranger offering to donate her eggs.

“I literally clutched my chest,” Saint John recalls. “I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ I read it to Keely, too. He was like, ‘Well, let's find out!’ I was like, ‘Oh, absolutely not. We don't know her.’”

St. John is the mother of one daughter, Lael. While she made some headlines when she bought her a Maserati for her sixteenth birthday, she insists the extravagant gift didn’t come out of nowhere. In fact, it’s the result of years of intentional parenting.

“Since she was three, she’s been pitching for Christmas presents boardroom-style,” she explains.

Instead of traditional gifts, her daughter presents detailed proposals, complete with reasoning and defense. “I challenge her ideas. Sometimes I’ve sent her back to try again.”

So, when her daughter asked for a “dream car” at 16? “I was like, you know what? I’m going to go over the top.” Her goal wasn’t just to spoil, but to reward preparation, discipline, and vision.

Between filming and family life, Saint John is also planning two weddings, both with a Ghanaian and American ceremony.

“I’m treating this like any other business project,” she says, citing spreadsheets, status meetings and a full design team.

And while she’s keeping dress details under wraps, she did tease one thing: “They’re going to take a lot of hours to put together!”

New episodes of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills air on Thursdays at 8/7c on Bravo and the following day on Peacock.

Audible Has a Cheaper Plan Than the One You're On — But It's Not Worth It!

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 2:38pm

We’re all looking for ways to save money without the need of giving up our subscriptions. An Audible subscription is something many book lovers will have. After all, we want to be able to “read” on the go, and listening is the perfect way to do that.

I listen all the time when I’m on dog walks or driving to the gym. In fact, there are times that I’ll listen in the gym because I’m so engrossed in the story and it keeps me going. So, when Audible announced that it was bringing a cheaper plan, I paid attention and spent time looking into it.

Save $6 Per Month With the New Audible Plan

The idea of the plan is to save money. Coming in at $8.99 per month, it is $6 per month cheaper than the now Premium Plan. The Standard Plan, as it’s called, will still give you one free book per month, but there is a limited selection compared to the Premium offering.

This time, you’re offered a book from Audible’s selection. There is still access to the curated library of Audible Originals, which are available for free, like the Premium Plan. If you don’t mind losing access to some of the bigger options to spend this credit on, then it could work out for you. I prefer to make the choice over when and how to spend my credit.

The selection isn’t minor. There are some great options across all genres, but I, personally, don’t like being limited.

You Will Lose Access to Your Selections

There is a major downside to opting for the Standard Plan, which I couldn’t have even considered. When you unsubscribe from Audible under this plan, you lose access to everything that you added. Not just the access to the free books via the Audible Originals or the included titles you can add now and then, but to everything you picked with your “credit” for the month.

Under the Premium Plan, you keep all those books. You can listen whenever you want, and you only lose access to anything that was part of the Audible Original Library that you selected to read for free.

This is a way to counter Spotify’s growing focus on audiobooks, but it doesn’t work for those who are avid readers and those who want more control. Plus, I select my titles I purchase with my credits with the idea that I’ll be able to listen to them again in the future, even if I do choose to unsubscribe for a while.

The plan was originally tested in the United Kingdom and Australia with success, so there are people interested in this method, and that’s great if it’s for you! It’s now rolled out in the United States and Canada, with more locations likely to come.

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing eight weeks after the abduction from her Tucson, Ariz., home—and a retired FBI agent recently weighed in on whether one of the ransom notes was an apology for the 84-year-old's death.

During the March 28 episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, host Megyn Kelly spoke with two former FBI special agents, James Hamilton and Maureen O'Connell, about the second ransom note the Guthrie family received and an online theory.

She brought up an X post from the user @Nerdy_Addict claiming that one of the ransom letters sent to media outlets "allegedly states the sender apologized, claiming they did not realize how serious her heart condition was and that she has ‘gone to be with God.'”

“Why didn’t the Guthrie family ever pay a ransom if they believed, as Savannah told us yesterday, that two of those ransom notes they received were authentic?” Kelly asked. "Was there something in the second note that made them believe it was fruitless to pay money to the kidnapper?"

The former Fox News and Today co-host was referring to Savannah's interview with Hoda Kotb, during which she revealed, "I believe the two notes that we received, that we responded to, I tend to believe those are real.”

Of the Guthrie family's response to the second ransom note, Kelly said, "Many of us sat and said, 'That sounds like they believe Nancy is no longer alive.'" She then quoted Savannah, adding, "'Return our mother to us so we can celebrate with her,'" pointing out that it sounded like a celebration of life.

Kelly added, "That would dovetail with Nerdy's reporting that the second ransom note was more of an apology, but they had Nancy’s body and said she's gone to be with God," while also noting, "This is all speculation."

"I think that the FBI was probably telling her, 'Without proof of life, do not pay these people. It will never end,'" O'Connell speculated. "'And if they can't provide proof of life, then we could very well be dealing with the wrong people.'"

Hamilton also weighed in on the theory that the second ransom note was an apology letter. He pointed out the "lack of personalization" in the details of the ransom notes, as they reportedly mentioned a floodlight, a pacemaker, and a heart condition, which are all public knowledge.

"So if you're going to apologize and I'm going to take it seriously, I would have liked to have seen something like, you know, 'I apologize for knocking over the picture in the room,' or more specificity. ... Something not released to the public."

Hamilton added, “All I’m hearing, Megyn, is what scam artists do," Hamilton shared. "They prey upon grief. They prey upon your vulnerability. They’re saying anything they can to get paid. It really doesn’t move the needle a lot for me.”

Nancy was last seen at her Tucson home on the evening of Jan. 31. As of writing, no suspect has been named in her case.

1973 Hit Ranked Among 'Top Classic Rock Songs' of All Time Became a Timeless Anthem

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 2:31pm

Over five decades since its release, Billy Joel's beloved 1973 hit, "Piano Man," is still considered a timeless anthem.

In 2025, Ultimate Classic Rock included the song, off the 1973 album of the same name, in the publication's list of the "Top 100 Classic Rock Songs." The song was ranked 63rd on the list, with the publication highlighting Joel's ability as an expert storyteller and the song's long-lasting popularity.

While "Piano Man," has proven to be quite a success, Joel wasn't overly impressed with the song. During a 2014 interview on The Howard Stern Show, Joel revealed that he didn't think the track would be a hit.

"It's a waltz, and it's, you know, it's about a guy in a piano bar and it's not even a lyric it's a limerick," said Joel before comparing the lyrics about the narrator's friend John to limericks that include the line, "There once was a girl from Nantucket."

Joel clarified he views "Piano Man" as a decent song. He noted, however, that the song isn't musically complex and "doesn't change much."

"When they play it on a piano as an instrumental it gets really boring. It's the same thing over and over and over and over," said the musician during the 2014 interview.

In an October 2011 interview withComplete Albums Collection, Joel noted that "Piano Man" "became a turntable hit," helping propel the popularity of his 1973 album.

"Disc-Jockeys liked the song. Or they got a lot of requests to play the song. It was five minutes. It was in 6/8 time, like a waltz, about a guy in a piano bar. Not a typical single, but it became very popular on the radio. And that made a lot of noise for this particular album," said Joel, now 76.

He also shared that the beloved song was based on some experiences he had while working at a Los Angeles piano bar.

"In the '70s, I moved to Los Angeles, and I worked at a piano bar for six months. And the song, 'Piano Man' was about that," said Joel in the interview with Complete Albums Collection.

'The Testaments' Isn’t the Only Book Adaptation Happening in April 2026 — Here Are 4 More Not To Miss

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 2:18pm

It seems like everything is based on a book nowadays, and that’s certainly the case with shows coming out in April 2026. You know The Testaments will premiere on Hulu on April 8, 2026, based on the novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood. There’s no doubt that you’re ready for the sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale to see another part of Gilead, but there is much more to come.

Whether you have Peacock, Apple TV, or even Netflix, there is a book adaptation to check out. Here are four others that are coming as series, and one of them, you’ll already have seen an adaptation of.

‘The Miniature Wife’

Manuel Gonzales put together a collection of short stories in 2013, with The Miniature Wifebeing the main one, even mentioned in the title of the collection. Now, Peacock is bringing an adaptation of the short story starring Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Mcfayden.

It follows the story of a scientist who ends up shrinking his wife. Yes, think of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, but with adults only in the story. There’s an interesting element to this whole story, as it’s not all that clear if this is some goof or if there are some ulterior motives to bring a message of power dynamics. That’s all in your own interpretation of the story.

The Miniature Wife debuts on Peacock on April 9, 2026.

‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’

Apple TV is the next to bring an adaptation in April 2026. The king of adaptations, David E. Kelley, is behind this one, and it’s set to be a miniseries. Of course, we know that some of the miniseries can turn into much bigger shows, but Margo’s Got Money Troubles is based on one book.

When the daughter of a former pro-wrestler ends up pregnant with her English professor’s child, she has some choices that she needs to make. How can she make some money fast? Well, in a modern-day turn of events, why not OnlyFans? So, she heads on a journey to support her lifestyle and her baby. It’s based on Rufi Thorpe’s novel of the same name, which was released in 2024.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles premieres on April 15, 2026.

‘The House of Spirits’

Despite being out since 1982, The House of Spirits by Isabel Allende has never been adapted. That is until now. Allende is part of the adaptation process, and there are promises that this series will be faithful to the novel.

The novel follows Esteban, the patriarch of the Trueba family, who has always dreamed of succeeding in politics, business, and more. The only thing that beats those dreams is his love for Clara, his wife who has the ability to see spirits. Together, they have a daughter, Bianca, who has fallen for someone who Esteban disapproves of, but will he get a say considering the lineage that is about to be produced? The novel spans decades, and it’s certainly understandable why it’s never been adapted for TV before.

The House of Spirits will debut on Prime Video on April 29, 2026.

‘Man on Fire’

Finally, it’s time for a novel that has been adapted before. You likely know the Man on Fire movie starring Dakota Fanning and Denzel Washington, and now it’s time for another attempt at A.J. Quinnell’s work of the same title.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II takes on the lead in this revenge series, focusing on a man who was hired to protect and not to kill. He’s supposed to look out for the young daughter of an Italian industrialist, but after a devastating turn of events, John Creasy focuses on something much more terrifying, and there’s nothing scarier than a man with nothing to lose.

Man on Fire is coming to Netflix on April 30, 2026.

Best Selling Author’s Novel Ranked No. 1 ‘Most Disturbing Book Ever Written’ on Goodreads

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 2:18pm

Best-selling author Bret Easton Ellis is once again at the center of conversation, this time for one of his most infamous works.

His novel American Psycho has been ranked the No. 1 most disturbing book ever written on Goodreads, based on votes from nearly 1,400 users. The ranking reflects reader responses, with users voting books that left the strongest and often most unsettling impressions.

Originally published in 1991, American Psycho quickly became one of the most controversial novels of its time. The story follows Patrick Bateman, a wealthy New York City investment banker who leads a double life as a violent serial killer. Told through Bateman's perspective, the novel blends dark satire with graphic depictions of violence, creating a narrative that has both fascinated and disturbed readers for decades.

At the time of its release, the book sparked widespread debate for its explicit content and its critique of consumerism and excess in 1980s culture. Some critics condemned it, while others praised its sharp social commentary, leading to a lasting legacy that continues to divide opinion.

"Whenever I am asked to talk American Psycho, I have to remember why I was writing it at the time and what it meant to me," said Ellis in a 2011 interview. "A lot of it had to do with my frustration with having to become an adult and what it meant to be an adult male in American society. I didn't want to be one, because all it was about was status."

And yet, Ellis still felt the pull to conform, even while rejecting the shallow nature of consumerist success.

"So, when I was writing that book as a young man, I was having this battle with conforming to what was then yuppiedom—the yuppie lifestyle—going to restaurants and trying to fit in. I think American Psycho was ultimately my argument about this."

The novel's impact extended beyond the page with a film adaptation released in 2000, starring Christian Bale, which further cemented the story's place in pop culture.

Despite, or perhaps because of, its controversial nature, American Psycho has remained widely read and discussed, often appearing on lists of the most provocative and challenging books of all time.

"I identified with Patrick Bateman. Not in terms of myself as a murderous clotheshorse, but his loneliness and alienation were certainly [what] I was feeling at that time," shared Ellis in an interview with Goodreads. Perhaps it is the authenticity that has allowed the book to connect with readers so many decades later.

With its latest ranking on Goodreads, the novel's reputation as one of the most disturbing works in modern literature has only been reinforced, proving that its ability to shock and provoke remains as powerful as ever.

Jazz Jennings Steps Out in Form-Fitting Mini Dress to Shut Down Haters Calling Her a 'Man'

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 2:11pm

Jazz Jenningsisn't letting online hate get her down.

The trans rights activist and star of TLC's I Am Jazz posted a stunning new thirst trap video to Instagram this week to send a strong message to her haters, specifically those who don't understand her identity as a transgender woman.

🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬

Jennings, 25, looked utterly radiant in the new video, where she was seen rocking a form-fitting navy blue mini dress and proudly showing off her feminine figure. Her long, brunette hair blowing appeared to be blowing in the wind as she stood in front of scenic greenery in the background, sporting a pair of sandals and a black choker necklace.

Text added to Jennings' video read, "POV: When haters say you're a man but you don't care and slay anyway."

In the caption of the jaw-dropping post, Jennings further shut down haters who still believe she is "a man," despite the fact that she has long identified as a transgender woman.

View this post on Instagram

"Some people think calling me a man gives them power. That’s lame because all it really shows is how little they understand about gender and identity," wrote Jennings, who has said she knew she was a girl as soon as she could form thoughts, despite being assigned male at birth.

She added in her caption, "I don’t need their approval to be who I’ve always known I am: a woman🩷🩷🩷"

As explained on her family's TLC series, Jennings was as young as two years old when she began outwardly expressing that she was a girl. She was later diagnosed with gender dysphoria at the age of four and was openly living as a girl by her fifth birthday.

As a preteen, Jennings received gender-affirming care to prevent male puberty, and by age 17, she underwent gender confirmation surgery, which was chronicled on Season 5 of I Am Jazz.

In response to her post on Sunday, March 29, Jennings received support from thousands of commenters, including her brother Sander Jennings, who wrote under the video, "You are strong, brave and beautiful women! People are just cruel and hateful. Keep slaying sister 🏳️‍⚧️❤️"

Her mom, Jeanette Jennings, also chimed in with a comment that read, "My incredible daughter is a beautiful woman. She's completely feminine, kind, loving and courageous. I love you @jazzjennings_ . 😍"

Former 'DWTS' Pro Was in LaGuardia Plane Crash

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 2:04pm

Former Dancing With The Stars professional Charlotte Jørgensen was a passenger on the plane that crashed into a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport in New York last week.

She opened up about surviving the crash, which killed both the plane's pilots, in an Instagram post on Sunday, Mar. 29.

“A week ago tonight, after a fabulous weekend in Montreal, I boarded Air Canada 8646 bound for La Guardia NYC,” Jørgensen wrote alongside a photo of the wreckage. “By now, probably most of you have heard of the collision that happened with a firetruck on the runway.”

The Danish dancer then thanked the pilots, who kept the plane on a straight path to avoid breaking up the fuselage or creating a fireball. By accepting a head-on collision, they prevented a much more catastrophic accident with more casualties.

"I owe my life to two brave souls Captain Antoine Forest and First Officer Mackenzie Gunther - they made the ultimate sacrifice so that we all could live…. I am indebted to them and my thoughts are with their families🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️," Jørgensen said.

"On the night I felt nothing as adrenaline was rushing through my body but the days after has been tough - physically, mentally and emotionally," she added. " I will be taking time to heal. I am grateful for all the love I have received and I send you all an extra warm hug🫂🙏❤️."

Jørgensen was a pro on the first season of DWTS in 2005. She was partnered with actor and comedian John O’Hurley, and the couple came in second place.

O’Hurley’s wife, Lisa, commented on the post, writing, “Charlotte I’m so happy you are safe and what a heartfelt gesture of gratitude from someone actually there. As [my son] Will is now a pilot that was very hard to see. These two men are heroes."

Jørgensen returned to the ballroom for the first time since 2005 for the “20th Birthday Party” episode in November 2025. She and her fellow season one pros performed in the opening number, which was set to a reimagined live version of the “Dancing with the Stars Theme” by Ray Chew.

The National Transportation Security Board is currently investigating the plane crash.

OMG, You'll Definitely Want These Ear-resistible 'Bunny Succulents' for Your Home This Spring

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 2:00pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Spring is here. And even though we're still dealing with snow across some parts of the nation, April showers and May flowers will be here before we know it. In the meantime, though, we have the chance to get a little pop of spring in our own homes thanks to some adorable plants known as bunny succulents.

Bunny succulents got their nickname thanks to their cute appearance that, unsurprisingly, resembles bunny ears. And if you're dying to get one in the palm of your hand before placing it on your windowsill or desk, you're in luck!

Not only are we going over exactly what these plants are and what to know about them (like why they look much less appealing in the summertime), but we've also rounded up some options for purchasing plants and/or seeds to start or add to your collection. And if you're looking for some additional aww-worthy succulents, we've pulled those, too.

Related: These 75 Different Types of Succulents Are Not Only Gorgeous—but Also Hard To Kill

What Is a 'Bunny Succulent'?

While many refer to this plant as a bunny succulent, its real name is Monilaria moniliforme. According to World of Succulents, it's "a beautiful small, sparsely branched succulent shrub with soft barrel-shaped internodes and very soft, cylindrical, short-lived leaves arranged in pairs." Other common names include bunny ear succulent, string of pearls, beaded ice plant and beaded vygie.

Are Bunny Succulents Real?

They sure are! Although we get it, they look like they could be fake and used just for decor.

@phyto.alchemist

🐰 Bunny Succulent, Monilaria moniliformis 🐰 #succulents #bunny #Monilaria #plantscience #horticulture #botany

♬ Funny Song - Sounds Reel Why Is It So Hard To Find a Mature Bunny Succulent Plant?

This succulent may take a while to grow from a seed to its full size (which is, admittedly, adorably small). According to Garden Bench Top, "Monilaria moniliforme plants are slow growers. You can tell by the fact that each nodule on their main stems are the previous years' growth. So, if you are looking for a plant that will quickly grow into a centerpiece, you may want to look elsewhere."

But that's not the only reason it may seem difficult to find a mature plant.

If you're looking for one when the weather is warm, you won't see them as they appear in these cute pics. In the warmer months, the bunny succulent appears to be lifeless. While other plants grow bright and robust in the spring and summer, this particular plant is dormant, which doesn't make it super appealing during that time. However, it's just asleep and will pop back to life in the cooler months.

Why Are People Obsessed With Bunny Succulents?

Bunny succulents actually take a little more work to care for than the average succulent. But generally, succulents simply require less maintenance than other plants and still give life and joy to your home or office with their fresh greenery.

Because they don't require as much of a time commitment as other larger plants, starting a #plantmom journey with succulents seems much more attainable and puts less pressure on you as you begin to grow your own green thumb.

Plus, if you already have a ton of "plant babies," adding a couple of succulents here or there to your huge collection is a smart way to sneak some in without your family, partner or friends always noticing (*wink*).

Katie Couric Reveals Heartbreaking ‘Biggest Regret’ About a Conversation She Never Had

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 1:50pm

Katie Couric lives a life filled with joy, but she recently opened up about one of her biggest regrets. The journalist talked with USA Today about what she wishes she had done differently during the illness of her first husband, Jay Monahan.

Monahan and Couric wed in June 1989 and welcomed two daughters, Elinor and Caroline. In April 1997, Monahan was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer at the age of 41. Less than a year later, in January 1998, Monahan died.

In talking with USA Today, Couric reflected, "He missed seeing his daughters grow up. He missed watching Ellie get married. He missed seeing Carrie, you know, be Phi Beta Kappa at Stanford. He'd be so proud of both of them."

When Monahan was diagnosed, Couric worked as a caregiver to stay positive and hold onto hope he would recover.

Looking back, she admits, "My biggest regret, I think, was that I never really talked to my husband about the possibility that he might die, quite frankly. We never had those hard conversations."

Couric shared she wished they had reached out to a professional who could have guided them through that. At the time, she remembers, "The only way I knew to deal with Jay's illness was to not give up hope and keep saying, 'We'll figure this out.'"

"There are a lot of things I never talked to Jay about because I couldn't deal with bringing up the possibility that he wouldn't be around," Couric told the media outlet. She added, "As a caregiver, that's probably my biggest regret."

In the years since Monahan's death, Couric has become a fierce advocate for colon cancer screening and awareness. She remarried in 2014 and is now enjoying being a grandmother.

She suggested, "I think when you lose somebody like that, it makes you grateful to be at every chapter of your life, that you actually have multiple chapters to appreciate and enjoy."

Lauren Buglioli Defends Vanessa’s 'Willful Blindness' on 'Beyond the Gates'

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 1:49pm

Beyond the Gates Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli) has had a complicated year on-screen. Following the apparent murder of her gambling alcoholic husband Doug McBride, reportedly tied to her casino-owning lover Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom), Buglioli is now sharing her perspective on Vanessa’s recent choices.

In an interview on The Gatekeepers Podcast, Buglioli addressed fan reactions to Vanessa’s polarizing actions following Doug’s death.

Buglioli said she sees Vanessa’s behavior as rooted in emotional survival. “There's a real trauma bond and a real willful blindness that allows Vanessa to survive,” she explained.

She added that Vanessa is taking things one day at a time. “There are things that she's not ready to look at and things that she's just not prepared to see,” she said.

Buglioli likened Vanessa’s life to a “house of cards,” suggesting she’s doing everything she can to keep it from collapsing.

“Vanessa's choice to go all in and allow Joey to be a life raft, comes down to what she doesn't know, she doesn't know,” she said. “There is a willful blindness.”

Buglioli acknowledged that viewers have been frustrated with Vanessa’s decision. “I get that people are like, ‘she's dumb’, or ‘she's not seeing it’, but I mean, show me one person who hasn't seen what they should see in a relationship,” she said.

She emphasized that survival often shapes decision-making, “I think so many of us do what we need to do to survive a given moment. There are certain things she's just not ready to face.”

While Buglioli said she may not make the same choices, she approaches the character with empathy. “I haven't been in her shoes. So, I can't actually say that with a hundred percent certainty,” she explained.

She also pointed to Vanessa’s emotional history, including her marriage to Doug. “She sacrificed so much for my children, and I was the good doctor's wife, and my husband didn't meet my needs. So, we had an agreement so that there were things outside of her marriage that sustained her.”

Buglioli noted that Vanessa’s relationship with Joey marked the first time she developed real feelings outside of her marriage, “It wasn't until she fell in love with someone that it really came to a head. Vanessa said to Joey, ‘This is the first time I had feelings for anyone outside Doug.’ So, I think that changed everything.”

Buglioli said she welcomes strong audience reactions. “I want people to be big mad,” she said. “I don't want people to think her choice to latch on to Joey is the best choice for her to make as a mother.”

She concluded, “I'm glad that people are upset, Good, I agree. But also, I know she's doing what she needs to do to survive. So, I have a lot of compassion for her.”

The set includes a 37-inch-square metal table and four chairs, creating a complete dining space for four people. The table features a durable powder-coated steel frame that’s easy to clean and has space for an umbrella in the middle. Though it does not come with one, the option to add extra shade over the table is a convenient feature.

The entire set is designed for durability, featuring rust- and fade-resistant materials, built to withstand the elements. The chairs are made of breathable, high-performance textilene mesh fabric stretched over a steel frame. They offer ample support and airflow to keep you comfortable, even on warm days.

Though it's compact enough for smaller outdoor spaces, this set still offers plenty of room for four people to enjoy a full meal or play a card game. Lightweight but sturdy, it's easy to move both the table and chairs around on your deck, patio, or balcony.
