“Summer (The First Time)” was a 1973 song written and performed by Bobby Goldsboro. It peaked at No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 but spent 10 weeks on the UK chart, becoming one of his more popular songs.

“People always want to know if I wrote that song from personal experience,” Goldsboro said in a 2007 interview with Record Collector. “And I say, ‘That’s none of your business!’ Actually, it was loosely based on something which happened to me, although that wasn’t nearly as romantic and the age difference was a lot different!”

The song was about a man recalling being a teenager who was pursued by an older woman. “The record company told me that a couple of radio stations refused to play the song because it was ‘too risqué,'" he revealed. "But I never got one detrimental letter from anybody.”

Goldsboro also released the No. 1 hit, “Honey,” which sold over a million copies. It was about a man mourning the loss of his wife. “Most of the song was based on things Bobby (Russell)’s wife had done – like planting a tree, crying over TV shows, wrecking their car – although she had not passed away,” Goldsboro said. “I’ve sung that song thousands of times, but it still moves me every time. It’s moved many people over the years and has often been played at funerals. I get emails to this day asking ‘What did Honey die of?’, but the song doesn’t say, and I didn’t write it.”

In an interview with Gary James, he added, “It just came off like a monster the very first take. Even the musicians, the violin players, came into the control room to listen to the playback. So, we said, 'Man, that was the first take, let's go do it again.' And the second take sounded exactly like it. We couldn't really improve on it, so we called Bobby from the studio and said, 'We have cut a monster with this song.' Of course, I never dreamed it was gonna be as big as it was, but we knew we had a hit with it.”

In addition to being a singer and songwriter, Goldsboro had his own series, The Bobby Goldsboro Show, which was a variety show where he would perform and feature contemporary artists. Hosted by Goldsboro, it aired from 1973 to 1976. He also created several bestselling children’s books and television specials, including the series The Swamp Critters of Lost Lagoon, which was an educational, musical program for young children.

Goldsboro is currently 85.

If you’ve walked through a major airport recently, you might have noticed a new line next to the standard TSA PreCheck lane where people are breezing through security simply by looking into a camera lens—no physical driver’s license, passport or printed boarding pass required.

It’s called TSA PreCheck Touchless ID, and it uses quick facial-comparison technology to match your face to your digital records, letting you keep your ID in your pocket and significantly cutting down your time in line. Up until now, unlocking this shortcut was a bit of a multi-step chore because you had to manually upload your passport information into individual airline apps one by one.

But thanks to a brand-new partnership between the TSA and Google Wallet, setting up this airport shortcut just got incredibly easy for everyday travelers. Here's exactly how this new update works, and how to use it to breeze through security on your next trip.

"We're excited that Google Wallet technology is helping make TSA airport checkpoints faster and easier for travelers," said P.J. Linarducci, vice president of product management, Consumer Payments, at Google. "This collaboration aligns perfectly with our goal to make digital experiences more secure and convenient, and we look forward to seeing it roll out broadly just as the busy summer travel season gets underway."

How the New Google Wallet Shortcut Changes the Game

Before this rollout, you could only use Touchless ID if you manually opted in through the dedicated apps of just six specific airlines (American, Delta, United, Southwest, Alaska or Hawaiian).

Now, Google Wallet is acting as a centralized hub. Because it’s the first digital wallet to team up directly with the TSA for this program, you can use the touchless lanes no matter which of the 100+ TSA PreCheck-approved airlines you happen to be flying that day.

If you have an Android device and already use Google Wallet, the setup is incredibly straightforward:

• Create Your Digital ID: Open your Google Wallet app and follow the prompts to create a secure ID Pass using your valid U.S. passport. The app will have you scan your passport's security chip and record a brief video of your face to verify it’s actually you.
• Check In for Your Flight: When it’s time to fly, check in for your flight as usual and save your digital boarding pass straight to your Google Wallet.
• Tap to Opt In: If you’re flying out of a participating airport, a "Get started" button will automatically pop up right on your boarding pass in the wallet. Click it, and it will direct you to a secure TSA consent page where you give the green light to share your digital ID for that specific trip.
• Look for the Indicator: Once the system confirms your enrollment, a special Touchless ID badge will appear right on your wallet's boarding pass. When you get to the airport, you just follow the signs for the dedicated Touchless ID queue, look into the biometric camera, and head straight to the scanners.

Where Can You Actually Use It?

The program is currently up and running at 65 major airports nationwide—covering nearly every massive domestic hub (including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Orlando and all three major New York City-area airports) as well as a growing list of mid-sized regional airports.

A Quick Reminder for the Road: Even though your face handles the verification at the checkpoint, the TSA still requires all passengers to carry their physical, REAL ID-compliant driver's license or passport as a backup. The technology isn't always active in every single terminal at every airport, so you’ll want to keep your physical wallet in your carry-on just in case.

What About Privacy?

It is completely natural to feel a little hesitant about facial-scanning technology at the airport, but the TSA has built some strict guardrails around passenger privacy for this specific program.

The entire system is completely voluntary—if you don't want to use it, you can simply skip the opt-in process or tell the officer at the checkpoint that you'd prefer the standard ID scan. Furthermore, under the program's official operating rules, the biometric cameras are used strictly for instant identity verification. The TSA deletes all passenger photos and personal data within 24 hours of your flight's departure, meaning your image is never saved, stored, or used for any kind of ongoing surveillance.

For travelers looking to take the friction out of a busy holiday weekend or a quick family trip, spending five minutes to sync your passport to your wallet before you leave for the terminal is a majorly smart travel move.

Then in 2022, the British digital publishing company Bookoture offered to publish one of McFadden's manuscript and promote it to their mailing list. The book she ended up giving them was The Housemaid.

The Housemaid was almost instantaneously successful. The immediate reaction to the novel is what led McFadden to pursue signing with an agent and getting publishing and wide distribution for her work.

The Housemaid is considered to be a "monster hit" having spent 141 weeks on The New York Times trade paperback best-seller list, as well as 112 weeks on its Combined Print and E-Book Fiction list as of 2026. Additionally, The Housemaid has the top spot on the Most Read Books of 2026 according to Goodreads having been "shelved" over a million times this year.

Part of the widespread success of The Housemaid is attributed to its virality on BookTok, the colloquial term for the digital reader community on TikTok. Social media "word of mouth" is a huge part of its massive appeal.

The Housemaidfollows protagonist Millie, an ex-felon who desperately needs housing and work following her release from prison. Millie ends up landing a live-in housemaid position for the wealthy couple Andrew and Nina Winchester. In the beginning, Nina seems to be kind and sympathetic to Millie. But over time she begins to unravel before Millie's eyes seeming completely unstable. While growing closer to the family and living under the roof, Millie gets more than she bargained for as she continues to uncover their web of dark, deep secrets.

McFadden ended up making the book into part of a trilogy, releasing two sequels to her smash hit. The Housemaid's Secret was published in 2023, and was followed by the The Housemaid is Watching in 2024.

You never know when inspiration will strike. A quick burst of creativity during a lunch break gave birth to this 1979 classic, which went on to become a hit a second time, almost thirty years later.

Eddie Rabbitt scored a country crossover hit with the tune "Suspicions." In a July 1985 interview for the Star News, he admitted that the song came to him quickly, stating, "Sometimes the lyrics just fall out of my mouth."

Rabbitt co-wrote the song with Even Stevens. The songwriter told The Tennessean he and Rabbitt were at Wally Heider’s Los Angeles studio when the magic moment occurred.

"We had flown out the Swampers, the Muscle Shoals rhythm section, to do an album (for) Eddie out there. It was the last day, and we were on break for lunch," he began.

"We’d already cut the whole album pretty much. David (Malloy), Eddie and I stayed back and didn’t go (to lunch), and Randy McCormick, the great piano player from Muscle Shoals and Nashville. There was a Rhodes (piano) out in the middle of the studio."

Stevens concluded, "[Eddie] started doodling on this thing, and we started writing this song. In about 20 minutes, I’d say, we had 'Suspicions' written.

The country song soon became a crossover hit. The tune would land at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Country Charts in August 1979 and peak at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 in September.

"Suspicions" ranked at No. 39 of the Top 50 Yacht Rock Songs in a list compiled by Ultimate Classic Rock. The song landed between Poco's "Crazy Love" and "Moonlight Feels Right" by Starbuck.

In 2007, country superstar Tim McGraw put his own spin on "Suspicions," nearly three decades after the song first became a hit. His version climbed to No. 12 on the country charts, narrowly missing the Top 10.

Stevens explained, "For years, musicians would come up to me and say, 'You know, I was doing a Tim McGraw record the other day, and before we started, he was sitting around playing ‘Suspicions’ and said 'Someday I’m going to record this song.’”

"That went on for three or four years. And people would say that he would play it for them backstage. I kept going, 'Well, tell him to (record) it!'”

Not bad for a song that took just five minutes to write. "Suspicions" has enjoyed a lasting legacy, becoming a hit in two genres across two generations, and remaining a fan favorite today.

Growing up, my mom had the kind of dry skin that defeated every product she tried. I watched her work through the drugstore moisturizer section systematically, like a scientist running trials, buying one thing, using it for two weeks, declaring it "completely useless," and she onto the next! Nothing worked the way the packaging promised and my mom, my forever queen, was defeated! Well, I didn’t understand it then—how demoralizing and defeating it is to be a woman with more mature skin that just won't hydrate!—but I do now. 

After 50, the skin undergoes a series of biological changes that make moisturizing genuinely harder than it used to be. Estrogen levels decline, which cuts the skin's natural production of hyaluronic acid, ceramides and natural oils all at once. The skin barrier becomes less efficient at holding onto moisture. Cell turnover slows from around 28 days to 50 or more. Dr. Daniel Gould, board-certified plastic surgeon, describes it to Parade as "a barrier that loses water faster than it can hold onto it"—which dermatologists call transepidermal water loss, and which my mom called Tuesday (and every other day!).

Hyaluronic acid has become the ingredient most closely associated with solving this problem, and for good reason. It's a naturally occurring molecule in the body capable of holding up to 1,000 times its weight in water, and after 50, your skin's own production of it has dropped to roughly half of what it was in your twenties. The right topical formula can close that gap. But not all hyaluronic acid products are built the same, and using one incorrectly—applying it to dry skin, skipping the moisturizer on top, choosing a formula too lightweight for parched mature skin—is probably what my mom kept running into.

To find the best face creams with hyaluronic acid that actually work for dry skin over 50, we talked to eight dermatologists, plastic surgeons and skincare experts. Their answers clarified a lot, starting with the fact that my mom wasn't doing anything wrong. She just needed better products and better information—both of which are now, finally, thankfully, much easier to find. (And since I inherited many things from my mom, including her Saharan-like skin, this information is relevant to me, too!)

What Is Hyaluronic Acid and How Does It Help Mature Skin?

Think of hyaluronic acid as a moisture reservoir. It's a humectant, meaning it attracts water and holds it in the skin rather than simply coating the surface. Dr. Kseniya Kobets, Director of Cosmetic Dermatology at Montefiore Einstein Advanced Care, explains that as we age, the skin naturally becomes drier, thinner and less efficient at retaining moisture, which is exactly where topical HA steps in.

The important thing to understand, as Dr. Nicole Lee of Epoch Dermatology, points out, is that hyaluronic acid is hydration support rather than a structural anti-aging ingredient. "I think of it as improving the environment of the skin rather than replacing true structural support," she says.

It makes skin look healthier, more supple and more luminous. It softens the appearance of fine lines. It doesn't rebuild collagen. Setting that expectation correctly is the difference between being delighted by the results and feeling, well, disappointed.

How Does Hyaluronic Acid Help Plump Fine Lines and Wrinkles?

Exoceuticals’ partner Dr. Robin Smith offers the most memorable explanation here. "Think of a grape versus a raisin," he says. "The structure is still there, but hydration dramatically affects how smooth and plump the surface appears." Hyaluronic acid draws water into the outer layers of skin, temporarily filling out the appearance of fine dehydration lines and creating a smoother surface.

Gould adds that results from topical HA can sometimes appear within 15 to 30 minutes by binding water in the epidermis. The deeper structural wrinkles, those driven by collagen loss rather than dehydration, require different tools. But for the surface-level texture and fine lines that dry mature skin accumulates over time, consistent HA use makes a visible and meaningful difference.

Ingredients Dermatologists Recommend Alongside Hyaluronic Acid

Nobody recommends hyaluronic acid alone. The consistent message across every expert is that HA hydrates but doesn't retain—you need other ingredients to seal that hydration in and keep it there.

Ceramides come up most frequently. They rebuild the lipid barrier so the water HA attracts actually stays in the skin. Kobets explains that mature skin especially benefits from combining hydration with barrier repair, adding peptides for collagen support, niacinamide for tone and barrier strengthening and antioxidants for environmental defense.

Lee's approach is similar. "Healthy aging in skin is rarely about one hero ingredient," she says. "It is usually about creating the right environment for skin to function optimally."

One practical note from Dr. Nazanin Saedi worth saving: Hyaluronic acid works best applied to damp skin, followed immediately by a moisturizer to seal everything in. On dry skin, particularly in dry climates, HA can actually pull water from the deeper layers of the skin rather than from the air, which makes dryness worse.

Gould confirms this is the number one reason people say HA didn't work for them.

Some songs become more than just hits—they become part of a generation’s soundtrack.

Thirty-four years ago today, one powerful ballad was released and would go on to become one of the biggest songs of its era. The emotional track topped the charts, earned major recognition, and remains a favorite among music fans decades later.

The song was "End of the Road" by Boyz II Men. Released on June 30, 1992, the R&B track was part of the Boomerang soundtrack. The song was a massive success for the group, and was named Billboard's Song of the Year. "End of the Road" broke Elvis Presley's 36-year-old record by spending 13 consecutive weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. In 1993, Boyz II Men won two Grammy awards for the song; one for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best R&B Song.

The song, produced by L.A. Reid and Babyface and co-written Reid, Babyface, and Daryl Simmons, is still considered one of the best R&B ballads of all time.

The music video for the track has been viewed more than 384 million times on YouTube since it was first uploaded 16 years ago.

"'End Of The Road' is one of the songs that really catapulted our career and continues to make an impact globally," read the caption of an Instagram Reel posted by the group in 2022. "Happy 30th Anniversary to our iconic song!"

Fans quickly filled the comments section of the post with supportive messages, many saying just how much they love the song.

"I love this song, congratulations for all this wonderful work," one person wrote.

"Still one of my fave tunes of all time!!" someone else added.

Boyz II Men still performs a variety of shows each year—and, unsurprisingly, "End of the Road" is usually on their set list.

Millie Bobby Brown finds it difficult to connect with other young adults because of her experience as a child actor. She felt she missed out on “socialization” because she wasn’t able to have a traditional school experience. 

The 22-year-old spoke about her upbringing in the public eye in a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast. 

"Sometimes when fans come up to me, they'll be like 'Millie!' and I'll be like 'Aah!'" she said.

"I just don't know how to react sometimes to people my own age," Brown continued. "I have a harder time. Because I grew up with primarily men on crews, let's change that."

The actress made her debut in the 2013 drama Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, but became a household name after being cast as Jane "Eleven" Hopper in Netflix's hit series Stranger Things.

Brown explained that as a child actor, she worked with crew members that were mostly "men over 40 years old."

"And so I heard a lot of adult talk growing up, I didn't really talk about the things you're meant to talk about as a kid," she shared. "Because you hear 'Where's the grip? Let's grab a ladder,' you know? And so that's your whole conversation."

Brown’s social life changed drastically when she met her now-husband, JakeBongiovi, who is Jon Bon Jovi’s son. 

"The complete opposite [side] of me," the actress said of her husband. "You know, he went to boarding school and college, so he is like a social butterfly. When I met him, I really tried to lean more into that. So, I'm in my social era."

The couple wed in May 2024 and about a year later are adding a new member to their family. Brown and Bongiovi adopted a "sweet baby girl,” in August 2025. They wrote on instagram, “We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy."

A prominent British cruise operator is leaning directly into the child-free travel boom by converting one of its mainstream vessels into a permanent, sanctuary-style getaway designed exclusively for the over-18 crowd.

Marella Cruisesrecently announced that its 1,800-passenger vessel, the Marella Discovery 2, will permanently pivot to an adults-only format starting in the winter of 2027. Interestingly, this ship actually has a long history with traditional family cruising; it originally debuted back in 1995 as Royal Caribbean's Legend of the Seas before joining the Marella fleet.

Now, the cruise line is systematically dismantling its kid-centric amenities to make way for elevated spaces that appeal to a completely different demographic. According a statement from the brand, the current youth clubs and play areas will be entirely transformed into grown-up hangouts, featuring a hidden speakeasy lounge, an interactive escape room, a dedicated karaoke venue and an upscale arts and crafts studio.

This move reflects a massive, industry-wide surge in travelers seeking out child-free spaces. Virgin Voyages famously pioneered the entirely adults-only model across its fleet when it launched in 2021, and legacy brands are starting to follow suit. For instance, Carnival Cruise Line recently converted several family-friendly voyages on its Carnival Firenze ship into exclusive, adults-only sailings under its new "SEA" program.

For Marella, the transformation of the Marella Discovery 2 marks its second vessel to ditch the kids' menus, following the success of its sister ship, the Marella Explorer 2.

"With demand for adults-only cruising continuing to grow, we're investing in four new onboard concepts to enhance the experience even further," Marella Cruises CEO Chris Hackney shared in an official statement.

For travelers looking to map out an unhurried winter escape, the redone ship will base its operations out of three major Spanish ports. From November 2027 through March 2028, it will sail out of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, introducing a brand-new seven-night "Atlantic Fusion" itinerary that highlights Spain’s Canary Islands and marks a return to Agadir, Morocco. In the spring of 2028, the ship will shift its homeport to Malaga.

To round out the adult-centric focus, the line is also expanding its "Cruise & Stay" packages by adding 39 new land-based partner hotels across Malaga, the Canaries, Barbados and the Dominican Republic, giving travelers an effortless way to extend their holiday on solid ground without ever having to navigate a bustling family resort.

In 1979, Van Halen kicked off their second studio album with “You’re No Good.” The song was a cover of the Linda Ronstadt classic that hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 1975.

Originally written by Clint Ballard Jr, and performed by Dee Dee Warwick in 1963, "You’re No Good” was covered multiple times, but Van Halen put a hard rock spin on the tune less than five years after Ronstadt's version topped the charts.

Featuring Michael Anthony’s iconic bass intro, a soaring guitar solo by Eddie Van Halen, and David Lee Roth’s unmistakable, screeching vocals about moving on from a toxic ex, Van Halen’s version of the song wasn’t a chart hit, but it became a radio staple and concert favorite. Decades later, fans still resonate with the song's enduring theme and consider “You’re No Good” to be the ultimate hard rock breakup anthem.

There’s no denying that Van Halen’s version of “You’re No Good” sounds nothing like Ronstadt’s version or any before it.

In an interview shared by Van Halen News Desk, late Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen once said, “To me [it] doesn’t sound at all like the original. I’ve never actually heard the original; Linda Ronstadt didn’t write the song. It’s a great song, I think."

“{Producer] Ted [Templeman] suggested it, or he asked us about how we felt doing another cover song,” Van Halen recalled. “We said if the song is right and fits our style, and if we can arrange it to fit our style, then we’ll do it. … So Ted says, ‘Hey, how about ‘You’re No Good' …And I just started noodling around, and that’s how it came about. We never even listened to the record. It was just that I kind of remembered the changes, and because I didn’t listen to the record it didn’t sound the same."

“The song came out real basic,” he added of his band's version of the kiss-off classic.

Van Halen also defended the idea of taking a song and making the cover completely different.

"Whenever you do a cover tune – like, say, on the second album, when we did 'You’re No Good' – whenever you redo a cover tune, I don’t think you should do it like the original,” he told Talking Guitar magazine. “And I don’t think any cover tune we’ve ever done has been like the original. You know? And it takes almost as much time to make a cover tune sound original as it does writing a song.”

As for Ronstadt’s blues-driven version of the song, it almost didn’t make the cut for her 1974 album Heart Like a Wheel.

“’You’re No Good’ was a song that I picked as an afterthought,” she told Rock Cellar magazine. “We needed an up-tempo song for our show, and I had too many ballads, so we started playing that in our live shows, and this was before I recorded it,” she shared. “It had a different feel to it live. I wasn’t that invested in that song too much. I take that back, I was invested in all of my songs. But that was a song that I didn’t love singing like I loved singing a song like 'Heart Like A Wheel.'"

In the end, Ronstadt was “happy” with the recorded version of “You’re No Good,” but she admitted, “I didn’t think I sang it so well.”

Recorded for the second studio album, The Bends, Radiohead released "Fake Plastic Trees" as the third single for the anticipated, alt-rock album. Thom Yorke, the songwriter for the group, said that the song stemmed from a melody he had no idea what to do with, and a "very lonely, drunken evening and breakdown of sorts." Yorke did his best not to force the lyrics, instead just letting whatever was in his head end up on the page.

Recording sessions for The Bends, including those for "Fake Plastic Trees," were particularly tense due to the band's record label putting the pressure on to recreate the success they had had with "Creep." In the initial recordings the group struggled to agree on how the song should sound calling what they were ending up with "pompous and bombastic."

The group went to a concert put on by Jeff Buckley and Yorke was heavily inspired by Buckley's falsetto singing. Following the concert, Yorke recorded three versions of "Fake Plastic Trees" with just himself and an acoustic guitar. He was so moved upon hearing them played back he burst into tears. Yorke felt the track was too vulnerable to be released, but eventually conceded at the encouragement of his bandmates.

American audiences were not quite as receptive to "Fake Plastic Trees" as they were to "Creep," and the song never entered the Billboard Hot 100. Despite this, Radiohead did not give in to the label's pressure to "American-ize" the track saying, "If it doesn't get on the radio the way it is now, then I don't think it's going to get on the radio at all."

Canadian singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette was a huge fan of "Fake Plastic Trees" and even called it one of her favorite songs. She even covered the track on her 1996 tour. Of the song Morissette said, "It's this intangible, spiritual thing. It's a mood piece but lyrically [Yorke] delves into his own vulnerability and talks about materialism and fallibility."

Over the years "Fake Plastic Trees" has become known as one of the greatest of all time with Rolling Stone including it on their list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time."
