This ‘Heated Rivalry’ Star’s First-Ever NYC Appearance Drew Huge Crowds in Times Square
Heated Rivalry seems to be everywhere lately, and it’s not hard to see why. The steamy queer hockey romance — which began as a Canadian breakout on Crave before landing on HBO Max and exploding into a global obsession — has captivated viewers and turned its rising cast into some of the internet’s most talked-about stars.
So when Ksenia Kharlamova, who plays fan-favorite Svetlana Vetrova, stepped into Times Square for her first-ever New York City appearance, fans were ready.
On Sunday, February 15, the 23-year-old Canadian actress hosted a meet-and-greet at tm:rw, the three-level experiential tech and retail destination in the heart of the iconic district. The free, RSVP-only event gave fans a chance to meet Kharlamova, snap photos, and explore interactive installations throughout the store. Footage from the afternoon quickly made its way across social media, showing a line of fans wrapped around the block — reportedly bringing nearby foot traffic to a standstill.
View this post on Instagram“I wanted to meet all the fans, and this was a great opportunity to see some of them and see some of that support [for the show] as well,” the rising TV star told Page Six ahead of the event. “But also, I think this is the coolest store ever. I’m actually a huge sci-fi nerd!”
The NYC moment came just days after another major first for Kharlamova. On Friday, February 13, she made her runway debut walking for Christian Cowan during New York Fashion Week, stepping out in a textured black mock-neck coat with subtle floral embroidery and plush fur-trim cuffs, styled with sheer maroon tights and pointed pumps. “It was so much fun,” she told People. “I was really nervous, but the team was really nice and the models were so sweet and the look was so nice, so I loved it.”
View this post on InstagramAnd Kharlamova isn't the only Heated Rivalry cast member making headlines. Costar Hudson Williams made his own runway debut opening Dsquared2's Fall 2026 show at Milan Fashion Week in January, and surprised fans on Valentine's Day by revealing his longtime girlfriend in an Instagram Story tribute.
Meanwhile, costars Connor Storrie and François Arnaud have fueled ongoing dating speculation after being photographed at a cozy dinner in Burbank, as first reported by TMZ.

Popeyes Brings Back Fan-Favorite Fried Pickles for a Limited Time
Popeyes fans are celebrating, as the popular national chain is going all in on its new limited-time menu, which includes the return of a cult favorite menu item, fried pickles.
The Louisiana-based fried chicken joint celebrated Mardi Gras by bringing back its seafood menu with a flounder fish sandwich in regular or spicy versions, a butterfly shrimp tacklebox, which comes with eight shrimp, a regular side, and a biscuit, and a surf and turf option that gives customers four shrimp, two chicken tenders, a regular side, and a biscuit. All three menu options are available now for $5.99.
Diners can also upgrade their shrimp orders with four exciting new flavor boosts for no added charge: garlic parmesan, lemon pepper, buffalo, or ghost pepper dry rubs.

The $3.99 fried pickles, which come with a side of creamy ranch for dipping, debuted in 2025 as part of Popeyes’ pickle menu, selling out within days, reports All Recipes.

Fans are also excited about the return of the seafood menu, taking to the comments section of Popeyes’ Instagram feed to ask for it to be made permanent. “Easily the best QSR fish sandwich, please keep it on the menu for longer!” said one fan about the quick service restaurant’s limited-time offering.
1951 CBS Sitcom Ranked Greatest of All Time
More than 70 years after it first aired, I Love Lucy has officially been ranked the greatest CBSsitcom of all time, a title that feels less like nostalgia and more like inevitability.
When the series premiered on October 15, 1951, it didn’t just introduce audiences to Lucille Ball’s fearless physical comedy and Desi Arnaz’s charismatic bandleader Ricky Ricardo. It fundamentally rewrote how television was made.
Yes, I Love Lucy broke barriers with its interracial marriage at the center of the story. Yes, it famously aired one of the first pregnancy storylines on television. But the real revolution happened behind the camera.
When CBS first approached Ball in 1950, executives wanted her for a new television series—but they did not want her real-life husband, Cuban-American musician and actor Arnaz, cast as her TV spouse. Ball refused.
“CBS didn’t want Desi because they just didn’t think that anyone would want to watch a show with a mixed-race marriage. It was a racist decision,” Dana Sumner-Pritchard, host of The Ricardo Project podcast, previously explained during an episode of TV We Love. Ball walked away rather than compromise.
To prove their chemistry, Ball and Arnaz toured a vaudeville act called "My Favorite Husband." Audiences loved them. CBS relented.
Then came the decision that would change television forever.
Because videotape did not yet exist, most early television shows were broadcast live and lost to history after airing. Arnaz insisted that I Love Lucy be filmed on 35mm film in front of a live studio audience, which was an expensive and unconventional choice. He even agreed to a pay cut on one condition: he and Ball would own the negatives.
At the time, CBS reportedly laughed during negotiations. “Who’s gonna wanna watch them after they air?” executives allegedly asked.
That clause accidentally invented reruns.
By retaining ownership, Ball and Arnaz flipped the business model of television production on its head. Syndication was born. Every time a show airs in repeats or streams today, it follows the blueprint they created.
“Lucy and Desi created television as we know it,” Variety editor Michael Schneider said.
The show’s influence didn’t stop there. Profits from I Love Lucy allowed Ball and Arnaz to build Desilu Productions, which went on to produce The Untouchables, The Twilight Zone, Star Trek and Mission: Impossible. In 1962, Ball became the first woman to head a major Hollywood studio.
On screen, the show’s cultural impact was equally staggering. The 1953 episode “Lucy Goes to the Hospital,” which coincided with the real-life birth of Desi Arnaz Jr., remains one of the most-watched broadcasts in American television history, drawing more than two-thirds of all U.S. households with televisions.
Other sitcoms on the CBS rankings list include All in the Family, M*A*S*H, The Dick Van Dyke Show and The Andy Griffith Show—all giants in their own right.
But I Love Lucy sits at the top for a reason. It invented TV as we know it today.

Music Legend Who Shaped Decades of No. 1 Hits Says ‘Nobody Can Make a Record Better Than Me’
Nile Rodgers is known for his collaborations with everyone from David Bowie to Beyoncé, but the legendary musician and producer has never felt intimidated by anyone he has worked with.
Speaking with Vulture in a February 2026 interview, Rodgers, 73, said his most intimidating collaborator was “nobody.”
“No way, man,” he said. “If I ever believed that it would mean I’m walking into the studio and thinking, 'You can make a record better than me.' And nobody can make a record better than me.”
“Please don’t take this in an egotistical way," Rodgers added. "Who have I made records with? Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau, the London Symphony Orchestra. I’m here to have fun. I’m here to become part of your band.”
He explained that his goal has always been to make artists know that he has “their best interests at heart.” “That’s all I care about,” Rodgers added.
Rodgers, who co-founded the New York-based disco band Chic in 1972, is one of the most prolific and influential songwriters and producers in modern music history. His Chic songs “Le Freak” and “Good Times” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1978 and 1979, respectively. He also wrote and/or produced massive hits for Sister Sledge, Diana Ross, Madonna, David Bowie, and many more artists.
Nile Rodgers’ biggest hitsRodgers is behind so many hit songs that it’s almost impossible to pick a favorite. He looked back on his music catalog in a 2021 interview posted by Radio X, where he noted that “Le Freak“ remains “the biggest song in the history of Atlantic Records to this very day.”
Rodgers also humbly credited his song “Good Times” as the “unofficial beginning of hip-hop,” before addressing another of his biggest songs.
“’We Are Family’ is, in a unique way, the most successful single song that the Chic organization has ever produced,” he said. “When I wrote ‘We are Family,’ I got the concept of the song years before I met [Chic co-founder] Bernard Edwards and years before I met Sister Sledge … ‘We Are Family’ has now sort of dwarfed every song that I've ever written. Even though ‘Le Freak’ is by far the biggest selling single, ‘We Are Family,’ because of its usages in other films and video games, and things like that, is, believe it or not, that one song is now one quarter of my publishing income.”
Rodgers also called Madonna’s Like a Virgin album, which he produced, “a phenomenon.”
RELATED: ‘80s Glam Rocker Was Told He’d Never Sing Again
One collab gone wrongIn the Vulture interview, Rodgers looked back fondly on his past collaborations, including Bowie’s Let’s Dance album, which he completed in just two days. He revealed that he spent time with Bowie in libraries to come up with artistic ideas and to get to know him through his taste in art. He also connected with the singer via an album exchange.
“I actually tried this once with John Mayer, and it went totally sour,” Rodgers noted. “He turned me onto his favorite record, which was Coldplay’s first album, Parachutes. I thought it was cool, but I gave him the Rolling Stones’ Their Satanic Majesties Request, which I think is the most underrated rock and roll album of all time.”
The album exchange failed—and the collab never came to fruition.
“It didn’t work with John,” Rodgers noted. “Those first two days we got along like brothers, but then after we did the album thing, it was like, ‘This isn’t happening.’”
Sir Ian McKellen’s Touching Statement on Death Leaves the Internet in Tears: ‘I’m Gonna Need Bereavement Leave’
At 86, Sir Ian McKellen remains a titan of the arts, but a terrifying mid-performance fall during 2024’s Player Kings has forced the legendary actor to confront a reality his fans aren't ready to face. In a new interview with The Sunday Times released this week, McKellen reflected on the "ever-present" nature of death, sparking a wave of tributes across the internet.
“But, yes, I have accepted that I’m not immortal,” McKellen told the outlet. “Yet I still function. And really the inevitability of mortality comes not just from what you are feeling about yourself, but the simple fact that your friends die — all the time. When you are young, death is astonishing, a fascinating thing, but it’s a feature of getting older. Death becomes ever present.”
On platforms like Reddit, the reaction was swift and visceral. For many, McKellen isn't just an actor; he is a generational touchstone. One user pleaded, “WE ARE NOT SPEAKING ABOUT THIS INTO EXISTANCE NO,” while another referenced the recent sting of other losses: “CATHERINE O'HARAWAS ENOUGH. NO MORE BADDIES CAN GO BEFORE HIM.”
The sadness regarding celebrity death was evident in fan's reactions. “Yes!!! That's enough heartache for the entire year. Can't bear the thought of losing another gem,” one fan wrote, as another admitted, “My heart sank to my butt.”
Despite the actor’s pragmatic take on the end of life—including his admission as an atheist that “there was more to be done”—fans are already planning their own grieving process. “I’m gonna need to take the day off work on bereavement leave 😭😭 that’s MY grandpa for real,” one supporter shared. Others took a more humorous, albeit desperate, approach: “If he could make it another 50-ish years so I can make sure to die before him that’d be phenomenal.”
McKellen, however, seems more focused on the work ahead. He confirmed to The Times that filming for his return in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is set to begin in 2027. Mirroring the spirit of a late friend who "didn't want to miss anything," McKellen ended on a high note: “And so what I feel about my life is that I’ve still got more to do.”

'Sister Wives' Kids: Where Are They Now in 2026?
The Brown family has never been ordinary—and as the kids from TLC'sSister Wives grow up and spread their wings across the country, their lives continue to captivate fans who watched them navigate the complexities of polygamy on screen. From the moment Kody Brown introduced viewers to his four wives and their many children back in 2010, audiences have watched this massive brood mature into adulthood. Now in 2026, these kids have carved out their own paths, with some maintaining close ties to their famous family and others choosing to step away from the spotlight entirely.
The past few years have brought significant changes to the Brown clan. After Christine, Janelle and Meri all left their spiritual marriages to Kody—leaving him with only Robyn as his remaining wife—the family dynamics shifted dramatically. The children have responded to this upheaval in different ways: Some have rallied around their mothers during these new chapters, while others have distanced themselves from the family drama altogether. And while there have been joyful milestones—like new marriages and baby announcements— we've also seen heartbreaking loss unite the fractured family during their grief.
From Utah to North Carolina to Las Vegas and beyond, the Brown children are building lives that look nothing like the plural marriage setup they grew up in. Grab a slice of Rice Krispies Turkey and get ready to dive into where all 18 (yes, 18!) kids are now and what they've been up to.

'Sister Wives' Kids: Where Are They Now in 2026?Kody & Janelle's KidsLogan BrownThe oldest of the bunch, Logan will turn 33 this year and has firmly established himself outside the reality TV world. After earning both his bachelor's degree in kinesiology and an MBA from UNLV, he's working as Director of Strategic Operations at a Las Vegas travel company. He married longtime girlfriendMichelle Petty in October 2022, and the couple plans to stay childfree—a choice that makes sense given how much Logan helped raise his younger siblings when Janelle was working long hours in Utah. In a touching tribute to his late brother Garrison, Logan and Michelle adopted two of Garrison's rescue cats—Catthew and Patches.
View this post on Instagram Madison "Maddie" Brown BrushJanelle and Kody's first daughter became a mom of four when she welcomed daughter Emilia Estelle on March 14, 2025. The baby's middle name is a beautiful tribute to Maddie's late brother Garrison—Estelle means "star" in Latin, connecting to Garrison's love of astronomy and nighttime photography. Maddie and husband Caleb Brush also have three other children: Axel, Evie and Josephine. The family lives in North Carolina, where they recently purchased property with Janelle to start a flower farm called Taeda Farms. Maddie has been estranged from Kody for years, and her children don't know their grandfather.
View this post on Instagram Hunter BrownAfter completing his nursing degree at Johns Hopkins University, Janelle and Kody's second son settled in Las Vegas working in healthcare. Hunter, who attended the Air Force Academy and was a state champion wrestler in high school, has kept a relatively low profile but made brief appearances in Season 19 of Sister Wives to support his mom. Fans were thrilled to see him pop up at Christine's wedding as well. He occasionally posts on social media about attending sports events with his brothers and friends.
View this post on Instagram Robert Garrison BrownThe family suffered a devastating loss when Garrison died by suicide on March 4, 2024 at age 25. He was found by his younger brother Gabriel—a trauma that still haunts the family. Garrison had served in the Army National Guard, reaching the rank of staff sergeant, and had disagreed with Kody over COVID protocols and parenting styles. On the first anniversary of his death, multiple family members honored his memory on social media, and several siblings got tattoos with a quote from his favorite movie Dragonheart: "To the stars, Bowen, to the stars."

Janelle and Kody's youngest son was one of the first to call out the family's dysfunction on camera. Gabriel—who opposed the Flagstaff move and sided with Garrison during COVID disagreements—currently lives in Las Vegas. In February 2025, he shared photos from Chicago, captioning one post about how he fell in love with Chicago alongside images of the skyline.

Savanah BrownJanelle and Kody's youngest child graduated from high school in May 2023—a ceremony that brought the estranged exes together briefly. The quiet, gentle 21-year-old famously hated living in the RV with Janelle on Coyote Pass, and who could blame her? She occasionally appears on Sister Wives and seems to be living in North Carolina, where she recently traveled to Yellowstone with family members.
Kody & Meri's KidsLeon BrownMeri and Kody's only child together came out as transgender in June 2022, asking to be called Leon or Leo with they/them pronouns. They married their partner Audrey Kriss in October 2022 and currently live in Denver, maintaining a deliberately private life away from the Sister Wives cameras. While Meri has been publicly supportive of Leon's transition, their relationship with Kody has reportedly been strained. Leon has been selective about their social media presence and rarely discusses the family publicly, though they did reunite with siblings at Garrison's funeral in March 2024.

Aspyn—who manages a Kendra Scott store in Salt Lake City—revealed her pregnancy in April 2025 during a local news segment about Mother's Day gift ideas. This will be the first child for Aspyn and her husband Mitch Thompson, who tied the knot back in 2018 in a Scottish-themed wedding complete with kilts. The couple lives in Utah near Christine and her new husband David Woolley. Aspyn was one of the kids who vocally opposed the family's move to Flagstaff—and she was absolutely right about that call.

In a major move that left Christine heartbroken, Mykelti and husband Tony Padron relocated from Utah to North Carolina in 2024. Tony works as a chess instructor in Charlotte, pursuing his passion in one of the country's top chess hubs.
View this post on InstagramUnlike many of her siblings, Mykelti maintains a cordial relationship with both Kody and Robyn, though she's made it clear she won't reconcile with her father until he makes amends with other family members too.
“My dad has reached out multiple times,” Mykelti told Pop Psych. “He reached out before he left [to film Special Forces]. Every time we’ve communicated, he’s reached out and he’s the one extending the foot, but it’s hard because with me, I’m a package deal. You’ve got to treat my whole family nice; you’ve got to treat my kids nice. You’ve got to talk to all of us. You can’t just have me. You have to have all of us.”
Paedon BrownChristine and Kody's only son made headlines when he moved to North Carolina in December 2024—another kid joining the growing East Coast Brown contingency. The tall, candid 27-year-old has worked various jobs—including security at a gentlemen's club and serving in the National Guard. Paedon has been notably open about family conflicts— including addressing a past incident where he slapped his sister Gwendlyn—a feud that continues to keep them apart at family events. His Instagram bio reads "Christ is lord! God bless, my friend. Storyteller."

Recent episodes have shown Aurora grappling with her feelings about plural marriage, telling Robyn she doesn't have "the same call to it" that her parents do. In episodes that aired in Dec. 2024, she admitted to being uncertain about following in her mother's footsteps. There have been hints she may be dating someone, but Aurora still appears to live at home with Kody and Robyn.
Dayton BrownRobyn's oldest son from her first marriage was also adopted by Kody in 2015. Reports surfaced in 2023 that Dayton was living in an RV in Kody and Robyn's backyard in Flagstaff, but the family hasn't confirmed this. There's also been wild speculation online that Dayton's biological father may be battling cancer, which led Dayton to move in with him and go back to his surname, but these are unverified.
Breanna BrownBreanna—Robyn's youngest daughter from her first marriage—turned 21 in April 2025 and has lived a relatively private life. Like her sister Aurora, she's spoken on recent Sister Wives episodes about being uncertain about plural marriage, telling Robyn she has "conflicting thoughts" and doesn't think it's for her right now.

Holland America Line’s New Cruise Will Have Machu Picchu Overnights, Amazon Adventures and Equator Crossings
For travelers looking to connect with the deep history and natural beauty of the Pacific, Holland America Line is charting a modern course through some of the world's most diverse landscapes.
The cruise line just announced its latest Legendary Voyage: a 26-day "Inca Coast: Mexico & Latin America" odyssey sailing October 7, 2027, aboard Nieuw Amsterdam. This itinerary is designed as a continuous narrative that traces the Pacific shoreline from Vancouver all the way to the heart of the Inca world.
“This voyage connects the Pacific coast in a way that tells a continuous cultural story—one that unfolds gradually as you sail from Vancouver, down the California coast, through Mexico and Central America, and ultimately into the heart of the Inca world,” says Paul Grigsby, Holland America Line’s vice president of itinerary planning and deployment. "The longer format allows us to build in that depth, which is something our guests increasingly value.”

A Deep-Dive Into Ancient Heritage and Natural WondersH
The weight of this itinerary lies in its unprecedented access to the Inca Trail and the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu. The ship features overnights in Manta (Quito), Ecuador and Callao (Lima), Peru, which serve as the primary jumping-off points for exploring the region's complex heritage.
This represents a significant shift for the brand, driven by a surge in traveler curiosity for the Southern Hemisphere. “We’re seeing increased interest for destinations like South America and Antarctica, which is why we’re repositioning Nieuw Amsterdam to the region,” Grigsby explains. “That created the opportunity for this incredible 26-day journey.”
This level of access also opens the door to landscapes rarely seen on a single sailing, where cruisers can experience the lush biodiversity of the world’s most famous jungle. It fits into the evolution of the line’s Legendary Voyages program, which favors a slower pace. “Longer sailings allow guests to truly settle into the experience—both ashore and onboard,” says Grigsby. “Over several weeks, there’s time to enjoy destination‑inspired dining, regional enrichment and live entertainment.
A Trio of Bucket-List ExperiencesHolland America Line
The San Francisco Churchand Monastery is a 16th-century Roman Catholic complex in Quito, Ecuador, that fronts the large public square called the Plaza de San Francisco in the Centro Historico. As one of the largest and best-preserved historic centers in the Americas, it serves as one of the stunning backdrops for a voyage that highlights a diverse range of experiences:
- The Gateway to the Inca Empire: The overnight call in Callao (Lima), Peru, serves as the ultimate jumping-off point for the Inca world. Grigsby notes that the overnights are particularly compelling because they "allow guests to go further inland to Peru’s historic sites including Machu Picchu. That level of access, paired with the perspective you get traveling by sea, is what makes this voyage stand out."
- Overland Adventures into the Wild: An overnight in Manta, Ecuador, opens the door to landscapes rarely seen on a single sailing. According to Grigsby, this stop offers "epic overland adventures to the Amazon, Galápagos and the Ecuadorian rainforest." It’s a chance for cruisers to swap the sea air for the lush humidity of the world’s most famous jungle.
- Navigating Storied Waters: The journey captures the transition from the modern beauty of the Golden Gate Bridge to the natural phenomenon of crossing the Equator. Grigsby explains that sailors have "traveled this storied coastline" for centuries, and this voyage concludes with "world-class stargazing off Chile’s coast" as the ship approaches its final destination.
As Grigsby puts it, "This itinerary has incredible range in one seamless journey. You can sail under the Golden Gate Bridge, explore Mayan sites, cross the Equator, overnight near Lima—the gateway to the Inca Empire—and end with world-class stargazing off Chile’s coast."
This longer format ensures guests don't just see the sights, but "truly settle into the experience" without feeling rushed. "That balance of meaningful exploration and a relaxed, enriching onboard experience is very much at the heart of who we are.”

Fans React to Pitbull’s Fiery Onstage Political Statement: 'Ur Supposed to be Mr Worldwide'
Pitbull has built a global empire on the brand of "Mr. Worldwide," but a recent onstage outburst has fans wondering if he’s trading his passport for a superhero shield. During a y performance on his 2026 tour, the Miami native — born Armando Christian Pérez — stopped the music to deliver a political message to his critics that has since sent social media into a tailspin.
"If you don't like the United States of America, go back to the countries that we are from, and you will see how much you appreciate the U.S.," the rapper told the crowd. While the statement earned cheers in the arena, the digital aftermath has been more polarized.
For many fans on X (formerly Twitter), the rhetoric felt like a departure from the inclusive, border-crossing energy Pitbull usually champions. One viral post quipped, “ur supposed to be mr. worldwide not captain america,” while others pointed to the irony of an artist whose family fled political unrest in Cuba using "love it or leave it" logic.
🚨PITBULL: “If you dont like the United States of America, go back to the countries that we are from, and you will see how much you appreciate the U.S.”
Do you agree with Pitbull?
Follow me: @ItsCarterHughes pic.twitter.com/DBhxBg1QXu
“Shocking. white cuban from miami. fork found in kitchen,” wrote one user, referencing the conservative leanings of many in the South Florida Cuban community. Another puzzled fan asked: “What kind of reasoning is that? I'm truly confused. People can not disagree with anything or say their opinion anymore?”
The debate took a deeper turn as users parsed the specific language of Pitbull's speech. Because Pitbull is himself the son of immigrants, some wondered if his target was actually the opposite end of the political spectrum. “He says ‘we’ and ‘you’. So whoever he wants to kick out is not like him. Him being an immigrant, could it be that he’s referring to the MAGA that he wants to kick out?” one theory suggested.
Others felt the rapper was missing the nuance of modern patriotism. “There's a difference between not liking the United States of America and not liking the state the country is in,” one user argued. “Someone who loves their country also criticizes it and can hate what it’s becoming. I genuinely don’t consider someone to have American values when they want to shut up criticism by saying 'leave if you don’t like it.'”
Pitbull’s defenders, however, suggest his perspective is rooted in the "immigrant's gratitude." Growing up in Miami, Pérez was most likely raised on stories of his family’s struggle for freedom under the Castro regime. From this viewpoint, some fans believe his message is less about silencing dissent and more about perspective: “Have a taste of how the underdeveloped lives and you’ll stop whining about your non-problems,” as one supporter interpreted the speech.
As the "I Feel Good" singer prepares for the next leg of his tour, the conversation remains anything but quiet. Mr. Worldwide has undeniably sparked global discussion, whether people see him as a provocateur or a patriot.

Hip-Hop Top 10 Hit Ranked Best Song of 2001
First off, let's face the terrifying truth: 2001 was twenty-five years ago.
It's strange to comprehend that it's been a quarter of a century since that transformative year, especially since so much of its music remains influential. Consequenceproved that when counting down the top 100 Best Songs of 2001, crowning Missy Elliott's "Get Ur Freak On" as No. 1.
Missy Elliott's "Get Ur Freak On" Is The Best Song of 2001The honor is well-deserved, though not that surprising; Rolling Stone named it the best song of the 21st century so far last October. Consequence's News Editor Eddie Fu added to the song's praises, saying "Get Ur Freak On" still "feels like a sonic anomaly that no other artist will ever approach in terms of creativity or everlasting wow factor."
"Each listen feels like a novel experience: the Japanese-language intro commands the listener to get ready to dance just before Timbaland's bhangra-influenced tumbi riff adds an avant-garde flair to his signature syncopated drums," wrote Fu.
"Throughout the track, a nimble-tongued Missy Elliott sounds downright modest when boasting about leaving the radio airwaves 'shook' and chiding copycats for 'sloppily' attempting to duplicate her chemistry with Timbaland," he adds. "After all, given the duo's history and their latest innovative track, it was apparent that their only true competition came from their future selves."
Released in March 2001, "Get Ur Freak On" peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 (the same position it hit on the Hot Rap Songs chart). In 2023, the Recording Industry Association of America certified the song double-platinum.
Top 10 Best Songs of 2001The rest of the Top 10 shows how varied mainstream music was at that moment. Gorillaz, the cartoon avatars of Damon Albarn, came in at No. 2 with their debut single, "Clint Eastwood." System of a Down, once relegated to MTV2 and metal magazines, broke through onto modern rock radio with No. 3, "Chop Suey."
Alicia Keys's immortal "Fallin'" came in at No. 3, while Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out Of My Head"—a bit of a renaissance track for the 80s popstar—was ranked No. 5.
Surprisingly, Consequence put The Strokes's "Someday" at No. 6. The band kicked off the indie rock boom of the 2000s with the song ranked No. 54, "Last Nite." (Even more peculiar since the best song off of their debut album is "Hard To Explain.”)

Tool, who may be heading to Vegas after they release their next album, come in at No. 7 with "Schism," while Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" is No. 8. Jimmy Eat World, who are celebrating 25 years of Bleed American, are No. 9 with "The Middle." And Destiny's Child's "Survivor" finishes out the Top 10.
There are plenty of gems throughout Consequence's list. Blu Cantrell's "Hit' Em Up Style," Tenacious D's "Tribute," Cake's "Short Skirt/Long Jacket", Basement Jack's "Where's Your Head At," and Andrew W.K's "Party Hard" can be found in the ranks.

Take this Dakota Fields Dieman Natural fiber Hand Woven Jute Rug, for example, which is currently 43% off and will totally upgrade your space.
The 3-foot round rug was initially priced at $90, but has been reduced to just $51 in this size. The rug is hand woven with jute, which is an eco-friendly material that's essentially defined as a long vegetable fiber that's sourced into threads. It's known to be one of the strongest natural fibers, making it durable for home furnishings like this stunning rug. It's safe to place in areas that have heated floors, should that apply to you.
Dakota Fields Dieman Natural Fiber Hand Woven Jute Rug, From $51 (was $90) at WayfairThe circular rug features a gorgeous scalloped outer design that offers both texture and uniqueness. It's pet-friendly, stain-resistant, and can be vacuumed without a beater bar or rotating brush to prevent damage and keep it clean. Due to the tan coloring, you can place the rug nearly anywhere in your home, whether your entryway is in need of an accent piece or you want to cover your bedroom floor with a dimensional piece. Some reviewers used the "gorgeous" rug underneath their breakfast table and dining table.
The rug is flat, so, despite the rougher material, there's no worry of tripping while walking over it. One shopper said it's "super cute" and "looks great on tiled floors" to give the room a beachy feel. Other reviewers described the rug as "amazing" and a "wonderful" addition to their home, adding that it "fits perfectly" in any space.

Tori Spelling Says 'Beverly Hills, 90210' Stars Had to Get Her Father's Permission To Make Changes To Their Appearance
Tori Spellingis looking back on her time on Beverly Hills, 90210—and just how involved her father Aaron Spelling was in the show's production.
On the most recent episode of her 90210MGpodcast, which she cohosts with Jennie Garth, the pair reflected on the season 8 episode where Garth's character Kelly Taylor debuted her new pixie cut hairstyle.
"You know what I felt like? I felt like she belonged in, like, New Kids on the Block or a boy band with that haircut," Garth joked on the episode which aired on Friday (Feb. 13). "Did she not look like Lance Bass to you?"
While Spelling noted that she thought Garth looked "really good" with the cut, she brought up how her producer father always wanted to have a say in how the members of the cast cut their hair.
"My dad had this thing, I think we've talked about this before, where anytime hair was altered on the show, usually had to get permission, probably not eighth season, I'm sure you didn't have to, but they had to write it in the script," Spelling explained.
She continued, "I wonder why that bugged him so much though. Why is that a thing?"
As a producer, Spelling's father was involved in many aspects of the show, including his daughter's storylines. On a previous episode of 90210MG, Spelling spoke to writer and producer Charles Rosin about her character Donna's virginity storyline.
"I remember very clearly when he said to me, you know, that Donna should be a virgin. And it was like, 'Yes, absolutely she should,'" Rosin said on the podcast.
Over time, Spelling admits that she wanted to move past the plot point and continue on to new storylines.
“Before it actually happened I was saying to him, I’m like, ‘Dad, please, you have to let her lose her virginity, like, oh my god. It’s going on too long.’ He was like, ‘Fine,'” she revealed on the Beverly Hills Show Podcast.
While Donna did eventually lose her virginity, Spelling says she was honored "to be a virginal symbolism to so many women and men out there."
