Wrestling Assigned To Class 2 District 1

Sullivan’s district assignment will look similar to past seasons as they draw Class 2 District 1.

The Eagles, who finished third in last season’s tournament and qualified 10 wrestlers for state, will be grouped with Affton, Central, Dexter, John Burroughs, Kennett, Miller Career Academy, Normandy, Cape Notre Dame, Potosi, Roosevelt, Soldan, St. Clair, St. James, Ste. Genevieve and University City.

Ste. Genevieve is the traditional power in the district. They have won 14 championships as a program.

Last season the Dragons were edged out by Dexter for the title.

Dexter had 187 points, Ste. Genevieve 183.5 and Sullivan 175.

The Eagles had two all-state wrestlers in Evan Shetley and Tristan Brown. Shetley picked up his second all-state honor.

Sullivan will get the season underway December 11 in a dual against Washington.
