Tiefenbrunn Qualifies For Fourth State Appearance

Bennett Tiefenbrunn qualified Monday for his fourth state golf appearance, finishing sixth and shooting 75 at the Franklin County Golf Club in Washington.

Teammate Cody McKinney missed the cut by just one stroke, shooting 83 and taking 21st.

Borgia’s Thomas Alferman was the tournament champion. Alferman shot one under par, besting Union’s Josh Jones by two strokes.

Priory’s Peter Weaver shot three over par to take third. Teammate Benjamin Blase and Pacific’s Cameron VanLeer each shot three over par for a fourth-place tie. 

Following Tiefenbrunn in seventh were Borgia’s William Schroder and Zachary Unnerstall. Both shot 76. 

Priory’s Steven Wendling and Alex Garza were ninth and 10th respectively. St. Charles’ Cory Harrison and Westminster’s Logan Montgomery also tied for 10th.

Priory’s Gulshan Kodwani and Warrenton’s Travis Toebben tied for 13th. Westminster’s Lane Davis and MICDS’ James Mikula and Henry Mikula tied for 15th. MICDS’ Jeffrey Desloge and St. Dominic’s Paul Schneider finished in a tie for 18th. St. Charles West’s Kevin Higgins was the final qualifier, taking 20th.

Priory won the team championship by shooting 302. Borgia came in second at 308. MICDS (325) was third. Westminster (326) took fourth and St. Charles (343) was fifth. St. Dominic (352) came in sixth. Warrenton (364) finished seventh.
