Sullivan Thrashes Potosi Behind 32 Points From Todd

Senior ties school record with nine 3-pointers

Caleb Todd tied a school record Tuesday with nine 3-pointers and his 32 points led the Eagles to an 82-48 win over the Potosi Trojans.

Sullivan (8-8) bombed 15 3-pointers as a team in their first game at home since Jan. 9 and just their second since Dec. 21. The home court has been good to them in their last two contests as they’ve gone off for 28 treys.

Todd had five in the second quarter, including three in the final 80 seconds. He added three more in the third with Sullivan opening up a 37-point lead.

Landon Hoffman had the early shooting touch for Sullivan. Hoffman connected on three in the first quarter. He finished with 14 points. Cody McKinney added 12 points.

The Eagles hardly resembled the same team that took the floor Nov. 28 against Potosi and had to fight back from a 14-point deficit. Sullivan jumped the Trojans on Tuesday with 3’s by Hoffman and Austin Lewis for a 14-4 lead. With time expiring, Hoffman found Josh Wiese down low for a basket, giving Sullivan a 23-12 lead.

Potosi opened the second quarter with a 3-pointer and it would be the last possession they would trail by single digits. The Eagles went on a 12-0 run to pull away. McKinney had a third chance putback with 5:50 left to give Sullivan a 30-15 lead. On the next trip down, Todd swished a 3 and Hoffman hit two free throws to make it 35-15.

Potosi would get another 3-pointer, but Sullivan responded with a 13-0 run. Todd had a 3-pointer with 2:35 that staked the Eagles to a 45-18 advantage. After a pair of buckets from Potosi, Todd closed the half with three 3-pointers. Sullivan led 54-22 at the break.

McKinney got Sullivan started with a 3-pointer to begin the third quarter. Caleb Coffman closed Sullivan’s lead to 25 with 3:42 left in the period. Sullivan again got hot, going on an 11-0 run to lead 70-34 and ending the quarter on a 15-5 run. The Eagles were up 74-40 after three quarters.
