Sullivan Sweeps Potosi, Owensville, Union

Sullivan picked up three wins last week, sweeping Potosi and going down to the wire in three sets against Four Rivers Conference opponents Owensville and Union.

The Lady Eagles (8-5) have won four straight.

Potosi

Sullivan filled up the stat sheet Monday at Potosi.

With 30 points, 10 aces and 24 kills, Sullivan took care of the Trojans 25-19, 25-13. Head coach Sarah Rochleau said the Lady Eagles were strong behind the service lice.

“We came out serving tough and kept Potosi from getting much going offensively. I was pleased with our efforts in this match,” Rochleau said.

Riley Lock had 14 points, six aces, two kills and two assists. Kya Harbour had four points to go along with three aces, four kills and one assist.

Rylee Denbow scored four points, tallied 13 assists and registered two kills. Katie Creek had two points and four kills. Mallory Shetley led with eight kills and added six assists. She also had two points and one ace. Zariah Richards had four points.

Owensville

In a rematch of last season’s district championship game, Sullivan found themselves down big Tuesday in the first set against Owensville.

The Lady Eagles picked it up in the second set and won a tight third set to defeat Owensville 14-25, 25-13, 28-26.

Rochleau said the game got off to a rocky start and credited Owensville’s efforts.

“Owensville played a great game and I think we had three game points on us in the third set, but we managed to fend them off and come up with a win,” she said.

Shetley had a game-high 14 kills and led the team with five blocks. She also had nine assists, five points and three aces.

“Mallory really stepped up with several big blocks and kills down the stretch,” Rochleau said.

Lock had 10 points, five kills and two aces. Denbow had nine points and led the team with 15 assists. Creek had three points, one ace, six kills and a block.

Richards had six points and an ace. Harbour had five points, two kills and one block. Hailey Volkmann tallied three kills and two blocks. Kyle Hedges had one block and two assists.

Union

Sullivan buried Union in the first set, only to watch the Lady ‘Cats rally Thursday in Sullivan’s first home contest since September 4.

The Lady Eagles won 25-14, 23-25, 25-22 to earn another FRC win.

Rochleau said Sullivan got off to a fast start.

“We started off playing really well in the first set and kept Union from getting anything going,” she said. “Things really turned around in the next set, however. Union made a couple amazing hustle plays and we got caught watching.”

Rochleau credited Union’s hustle throughout the contest.

“The Wildcats did a great job of keeping the ball in play and just brought a ton of energy and enthusiasm to the court,” she said.

Lock provided a season-high 13 kills to go along with two points, one ace and two blocks. Shetley had eight kills, four blocks, 15 assists, six points and two aces.

“(They) really stepped up when we needed them to,” Rochleau said.

Denbow had 12 points, 11 assists, one ace and one kill. Creek had eight points, four kills and two blocks. Harbour had four kills, three points and one ace. Richards had five points, one ace and one kill. Volkmann tallied two blocks, one point and one kill. Saige Carey had three assists and two points.
