Sullivan Slams Eldon To Win Pool B

Sullivan scored six runs in the second inning and three in the third to defeat Eldon 9-1 and clinch first place Friday in Pool B of the Peoples Bank Back To School Classic.

The Lady Eagles (2-0) moved on to face Logan-Rogersville Saturday in a rematch of last season’s championship.

Sullivan scored all six runs in the second with two outs.

Madyson Stahl had two hits and drove in three runs, while Jaedin Blankenship collected three hits.

Stahl had a bases-loaded triple to get the Lady Eagles rolling.

Kayla Ulrich, Hanna Johanning, Alexis Johnson and Riley Branson each had hits.

Johanning started and pitched three innings, allowing three hits, one run and striking out six. She also walked three.

Blankenship pitched a scoreless inning and struck out two. Grace Halmick finished the game with a scoreless inning, allowing one hit.

Eldon scored the first run. Chloe Ruark drew a leadoff walk and scored on three passed balls.

Elnora Horn walked with two outs and a double by Camryn Marriott put runners into scoring position. Johanning stranded them with a groundout.

The floodgates opened for Sullivan when they came to bat in the second.

Stahl’s two-out triple cleared the bases for a 3-1 lead. 

Ulrich brought her in with a base hit to right. Johanning doubled to left and scored Ulrich to make it 5-1. She came around to score on a passed ball.

Blankenship led off the third with a double and was replaced on the bases by Hannah Campbell. Funkhouser was hit by a pitch. With Johnson batting, a wild pitch moved the runners into scoring position.

Johnson drove them in with a single to left that gave Sullivan an 8-1 lead.

Branson singled into right for an RBI single.
