Sullivan Sinks Pacific Behind Decker Grand Slam

Sullivan erupted for seven runs in the seventh inning Thursday, led by a grand slam by Madison Decker.

The Lady Eagles pulled away for an 11-1 win and their fourth straight victory. Sullivan (13-4) improved to 6-0 in the Four Rivers Conference. Tuesday’s game against Hermann was a chance to sweep away the FRC.

Sullivan scored four runs in the second inning and struggled to pile on from there.

Madyson Stahl cleared the bases with two outs when she tripled to right and scored on an error. The Lady Eagles loaded the bases again, but Pacific pitcher Amanda Daves avoided further damage.

Addison Purvis was near-flawless except for a hiccup in the fourth. She was perfect through the first three innings, then allowed a leadoff triple to Lilly Prichard. An error at first base off the bat of Daves allowed Prichard to score.

Purvis retired the next 12 batters and finished the night with 11 strikeouts without a walk.

The offense came through in the sixth. Kamryn Lohden delivered a two-run single to score Reagan Thomure and Hanna Johanning and push Sullivan’s lead to 6-1.

After a walk to Kloey Blanton, Abbey Daniel reached on a fielder’s choice bunt to load the bases. Decker stepped in and homered to center, her first of the season. Sullivan went up 10-1.

Sullivan loaded the bases again when Kylee Thomure reached on an error, Stahl on an infield single and Johanning a single to left. Lohden added her third RBI of the game with a base hit.

Lohden finished 3-5 and scored a run. Johanning was 2-4 and walked. Decker, Stahl and Grace Glaser each had two hits. Blanton and Daniel had hits.
