Sullivan Beats Houston, Falls To Hermann

Sullivan’s unbeaten season ended Tuesday at Hermann when they returned from a two-week break.

The Lady Bearcats edged Sullivan 50-48 behind 16 points from Allison Stiers.

Clare Shetley poured in a season-high 21 points to go along with seven rebounds. Bria Jones scored 14 points, Mallory Shetley had eight and Katie Creek scored five, but the Bearcats held everyone else off the board.

Hermann held a 13-10 lead after one quarter. Sullivan tied the game at intermission 21-21. Hermann took a 38-36 lead entering the fourth quarter where they held on.

Houston

Sullivan played at home Friday for the first time since Dec. 20 and registered a 56-31 win over Houston.

Jones scored 16 points in a game Sullivan led by double-digits early and built up a 21-6 lead after one period. The Lady Eagles secured a 31-16 advantage at the break and rolled in the second half, outscoring Houston 25-15.

Hanna Johanning, Creek and Clare Shetley each had nine points. Sophie Sellers added six, Mallory Shetley had four and Lauren Hoffman scored three points. Sullivan shot 52 percent from the floor.

Up Next

The Lady Eagles tipped off the 38th annual Union Lady Wildcat Invitational Monday as the top seed against St. Charles West. With a win, Sullivan plays Friday against either Borgia or Ladue. A loss would have them playing Thursday.

Tournament finals are scheduled for Saturday, beginning with seventh-place at 1 p.m., consolation at 2:30 p.m., third-place at 4 p.m. and the championship game at 5:30 p.m.
