Sullivan Batters Hermann For Second Straight FRC Title

Sullivan unloaded Tuesday on Hermann and clinched their second straight Four Rivers Conference championship with a 16-0 victory at Bank of Sullivan Ballpark

The game lasted just 2.5 innings as Sullivan had reached the requisite 15-run threshold to end the game after retiring Hermann in the top of the third.

Sullivan (15-4) has won 14 straight FRC games with the last conference loss coming against Union in September 2016.

Tuesday’s game was never in doubt as the Lady Eagles ran up 10 runs in the first inning against Gracie Huelskamp. 

Hanna Johanning, Kamryn Lohden and Kloey Blanton tripled, doubled and tripled to give Sullivan a 3-0 lead.

Abbey Daniel, Grace Glaser and Kylee Thomure followed with two doubles and a triple respectively, then Madyson Stahl reached on an error at first to put Sullivan ahead 8-0.

The long half-inning continued with two outs when Blanton drove in Addison Purvis and Lohden. 

Glaser got on base via error with no outs in the second to score Riley Diggs. Sullivan loaded the bases on an error in center, then Stahl brought in two more runs for a 13-0 lead.

Payton Counts was subbed into the game for Purvis and she delivered a two-run single off the bench to make it 15-0. Lohden scored Counts with an RBI double to center.

Lohden ended the night 3-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Johanning, who started, struck out the side in the third to bring the game to an end. She finished with seven strikeouts and one walk.

At the plate, Johanning was 1-3 with an RBI. Blanton went 2-2 and drove in three with a run scored. Purvis singled and scored twice. Allison Dace came off the bench to bat for Blanton and singled. 

Daniel doubled, walked, drove in two and scored twice. Glaser, Thomure and Diggs each scored two runs.
