Shetley Wins Title At Bob Georger Classic

Evan Shetley won his third tournament championship of the season Jan. 27 at the 40th annual Bob Georger Classic in De Soto.

Shetley (170, 37-3) swept his way to first place with pins against Union’s Luke Siddens and Lutheran South’s Alex Gardner. He won a 6-5 decision against Lexington’s Bryce Lautenschalger.

Overall, the Eagles finished sixth as a team with 116 points.

Dillon Witt (106) took second place. Witt pinned Parkway North’s Archie Rivera in just 27 seconds in his first match and pinned Hillsboro’s Aidan Haggard in the semifinal. Liberty Wentzville’s Aaron Steinhoff pinned Witt in the championship match.

Luke Dixon (113) finished fourth. Dixon won a 13-2 major decision against Parkway West’s Owen Beveridge. He was pinned by Liberty Wentzville’s Cameron Steinhoff, but stayed alive with a 14-4 major decision over Lexington’s Kevin Bales. In the third place match, he fell short against Hancock’s Tristin Benson.

Kobie Blankenship (138) also finished fourth. Blankenship pinned Windsor’s Zach Wright in 23 seconds in the first round. He won a 5-0 decision against Parkway West’s Donald Griffin and lost to Liberty Wentzville’s Christian Zeik in the semifinal. In the consolation semifinal, he won a 10-0 major decision against De Soto’s Blake Hearst, advancing to the third-place match. Sumner’s Keith Clay narrowly defeated Blankenship with a 1-0 decision.

Alec McCormick (160) took fifth. McCormick pinned Normandy’s Jerrod Blackman and Sumner’s Chance Costello to advance to the semifinal. He lost to De Soto’s Logan Zimmermann and Windsor’s Chris Butts. In the fifth-place match, he won a 5-4 decision against Liberty Wentzville’s Zak Schwartz.

Isaac Peregoy (145) came in sixth. Peregoy pinned De Soto’s Luke Bradley and Valle Catholic’s Trey Huck. He lost a 5-1 decision against Windsor’s Grant Pauli and a 4-2 decision to Oakville’s Jake Bradford. In the fifth-place match, he was pinned by Liberty Wentzville’s Trentin Helton.

Tristan Brown (285) also took sixth, picking up a 27 second pin over Fort Zumwalt East’s Tristen Juengst in the first round. He lost to North County’s Ryan Propst in the quarter final. Brown pinned Sumner’s Terrance Dodd and Normandy’s Anthony Simms to advance to the consolation semifinals. He fell to Hillsboro’s Joe Becker and Union’s Connor Ward in the fifth-place match.

Ransom Dudley (132) went 1-2, pinning Oakville’s Ibragim Makhmudov.
