Shetley Scores 21 In Lady Eagles’ Win Over Pacific

Mallory Shetley scored 21 points, Katie Creek added 10 and Sullivan rebounded in Four Rivers Conference Play on Monday with a 45-34 win over Pacific.

The Lady Eagles (13-6) led 18-6 at the half and after their offense sputtered in the second quarter, picked up the pace to match a resurgent effort by Pacific.

Shetley got to the line 11 times and hit all 11 shots. Creek rained Sullivan’s only two 3-pointers of the game and Kya Harbour gave the Lady Eagles a boost with eight points.

Hanna Johanning scored three, Riley Lock had two and Vittoria Polanowski added one.

While Pacific had a kick in the second half, the Lady Eagles held them well below their season average of 50 points. They suppressed their offense to the tune of 27 percent shooting from the field and 18 percent beyond the arc.

Sullivan scored the game’s first seven points on an inside shot by Mallory Shetley, a fast-break by Harbour and a 3-pointer by Creek, all in the first four minutes.

Cori O’Neill got Pacific on the board with 3:33 to play, but Shetley ended the period with the final six points. She had four free throws and a mid-range jumper to give the Lady Eagles a 13-2 lead after one quarter.

Both teams went silent in the second. Pacific opened with a trey, but Shetley converted an open look and Johanning drove from the wing to finish at the rim with 5:02 left. Sullivan led 17-5. Polanowski’s free throw with two minutes to go was the final score for either team.

Sullivan opened the second-half on a 9-3 run. Lock found Harbour for an easy layup, Creek scored off an inbounds play and Lock dribbled the baseline to bank in a shot. After two free throws by Shetley, the Lady Eagles were ahead 27-9 with 4:13 remaining.

Creek’s second 3-pointer gave Sullivan a 30-11 lead at the 3:26 mark. Pacific would answer with an 11-2 run, built on two 3s by Lilly Prichard.

Sullivan’s lead was down to 32-22 with just over a minute left. Shetley was fouled with four seconds on the clock and hit both.

Sullivan opened up a 41-24 lead as Shetley drove from the high post to set up a three-point play, then finished a fast-break with 4:41.
