Purvis Clubs Two Homers In First Inning, Lady Eagles Top St. Charles West
Addison Purvis launched two first-inning homers Friday against St. Charles West as part of a nine-run frame.
Sullivan scored 10 more runs in the fifth inning and went on to win 19-3 and clinch Pool C of the Peoples Bank Back To School Classic.
The Lady Eagles pounded out 12 hits and Abbey Daniel pitched five innings, striking out five and allowing three runs.
After Purvis took St. Charles West deep in the first inning, they passed on pitching to her the rest of the game. She took two more walks before Amanda Boren came in as a pinch-hitter.
Purvis had five RBIs and a stolen base.
Kloey Blanton was 3-3 with a walk and two RBIs. Kamryn Lohden doubled, singled, drove in two and scored twice. Emma Weirich had two singles, two walks, three stolen bases and an RBI.
Kylee Thomure singled, drew three walks and scored three runs. She also had a stolen base. Grace Glaser singled, walked, scored twice and drove in a run. Abbey Daniel singled, walked, drove in two runs and scored.
Morgan Bobbitt walked, drove in a run and scored twice. Hannah Cox walked, drove in a run and scored.
Reagan Thomure had three stolen bases and scored twice as a courtesy runner. Boren scored a run.
Purvis put the Lady Eagles up 2-0 in the top of the first as she hit the first of her two homers. Lohden scored on an error at shortstop, then Daniel drove in a pair of runs with a single to right for a 5-0 lead. Weirich hit a sacrifice fly to score Brea Carroll.
With two outs, Purvis sent the first pitch she saw over the fence in right to drive in Glaser and Kylee Thomure for a 9-0 lead.
Cox drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth to give Sullivan a 10-2 lead. Lohden drove in two with a single and error, then Blanton singled to center for two more. Three batters later, Glaser singled up the middle for a 15-2 lead. Bobbitt scored on a passed ball with Kylee Thomure batting. Thomure then singled to center for two more runs and an 18-2 lead. She scored on an error at second.
