Post 18 Seniors Pound West 13-1

The Post 18 seniors scored five runs in the second, three in the fourth, four in the fifth and one in the sixth to roll through O’Fallon West Tuesday and win 13-1.

Sullivan had 12 hits and took advantage of four West errors.

Post 18 got the scoring started in the second when Derek Evans had a one-out walk. Evans stole second and scored on Ty Wheeler’s single to left. Logan McCummiskey walked and Wyatt Schmidt lined a double to right, scoring both runners and giving Sullivan a 3-0 lead.

Dalton Englert walked and a double by Daniel Turner scored Schmidt. Caleb Fallowfield singled to right, putting Sullivan on top 5-0.

West plated its only run in the third on a fielder’s choice, but Sullivan responded with four runs in the fourth. Turner reached on an error at short with one out. Fallowfield singled and advanced Turner to third. Turner then stole home to give Sullivan a 6-1 lead.

Kraus hit a two-out double and moved Fallowfield to third. Evans’ two-out single scored both runners for an 8-1 Post 18 lead.

In the fifth, McCummiskey led off the fifth with a walk. Schmidt singled to right. Englert reached on an error at shortstop, which scored McCummiskey. Turner walked to load the bases. Fallowfield hit into a fielder’s choice, but Allen singled to right, scoring Englert for a 10-1 lead.

Turner then scored on an error in right. Fallowfield crossed the plate on a groundout from Kraus to put Sullivan ahead 12-1.

Sullivan scored again in the sixth. Tanner Jackson walked to lead off the inning. With one out, Schmidt singled — his third hit of the day. After Englert popped out, Turner hit a two-out single to center to score Jackson. Fallowfield walked, but Sullivan was unable to add anymore.
