Peoples Bank Back To School Classic

The third annual Peoples Bank Back To School Softball Classic is scheduled for Friday and Saturday featuring 16 teams competing in four pools.

Pool play begins Friday morning at Campbell-Chapman Park. Each team plays three games and the brackets are set based on the final standings.

Sullivan will be in Pool A and play on Field 1. The first game is set for 10 a.m. against Warrenton. The two teams last played in the 2016 Class 3 state championship.

Following that game, Sullivan faces Eldon. The Lady Eagles wrap up pool play at 3:15 p.m. against Waynesville.

Pool B features Camdenton, Jackson, Webster Groves and Windsor. Pool C includes Branson, De Soto, Eureka and Owensville. Pool D has Linn, Northwest, Osage and Pacific.

The final pool games on Friday are scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m.

Play resumes Saturday morning with the winner of Pool A meeting the winner of Pool D at 9:30 a.m. on Field 1. The Pool B winner faces the Pool C winner on Field 2.

Winners of those two games meet for the championship at 1 p.m. on Field 1. Third-place follows at 2:45 p.m.

The consolation bracket begins with the second-place from the pools meeting at 11:15 a.m. on Fields 1-2.

The teams that finish third in the pools meet in the ninth-place bracket at 11:15 a.m. on Fields 3-4.

Fourth-place teams from the pool meet on Fields 3-4 at 9:30 a.m.

Time limit on all games except for the championship and third-place will be capped at 90 minutes. The international tie breaker will be used if the game is tied after the time limit or seven innings. 

A coin flip determines home field advantage. 

Admission is $3. Seniors and children are admitted for free.

Jamboree

Sullivan geared up for the tournament Saturday when they hosted Jamboree against Marquette and Incarnate Word.

The Lady Eagles tied Marquette 4-4 in a four-inning exhibition. 

Addison Purvis started for Sullivan and pitched three innings. The second inning began with a runner on first, the third inning with a runner on second and the fourth with a runner on third. Purvis pitched three scoreless innings.

Marquette scored all four runs in the fourth inning. Sullivan tied the game in the bottom half when Hanna Johanning smacked a two-run homer.
