Pacific Shuts Out Freshmen 3-0

PACIFIC -- A stellar pitching effort from Pacific and some fielding miscues by Sullivan led to a 3-0 loss for the Post 18 freshmen Tuesday.

Post 18 had just three hits, two by Alex Branson and one by Tyler Lewis.

Steven Loeffel struck out nine across six innings.

Sam Turilli opposed him and pitched 3.2 innings. Turilli struggled with five walks, but he limited the damage and surrendered just two runs. He struck out one and allowed three hits.

Tyler Juergens threw the final 2.1 innings. He fanned five, allowed one hit and no earned runs.

Pacific scored in the first inning due to an error. Post 320 began the frame with a single and a hit by pitch.

In the second, Turilli walked the leadoff batter, but it was wiped out on a caught stealing by catcher Justin Lowe. A hit and a walk followed and Pacific grabbed a 2-0 lead.

Sullivan put the tying runs on base in the fourth. After Loeffel retired eight in a row, Branson doubled with two outs. Lewis followed up with a single to put runners on the corners. The inning ended when Lewis was caught stealing.

Pacific added another run in the fifth on a couple more errors.
