McKinney, Todd Receive FRC Honors

Sullivan junior Cody McKinney and senior Caleb Todd were named to the Four Rivers all-conference first team.

McKinney led the Eagles in categories across the board as he put together a spectacular junior season — 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals per game, while shooting 52 percent from the floor and 47 percent on 3-point attempts. He also was a 91 percent free throw shooter.

Todd took a bigger role after a strong varsity debut last season. He averaged 11 points and Sullivan’s offense was designed to get looks on the perimeter, which he took advantage of. Todd hit 61 of 176 3-point attempts.

Both McKinney and Todd had nine 3’s in one game this season, which tied a school record.

Individual honors went to Pacific.

Cameron VanLeer was chosen as Player of the Year, Ryan Sauvage was picked as Sixth Man of the Year and John VanLeer was selected as Coach of the Year.

Cameron VanLeer averaged 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals per game. John VanLeer guided Pacific to the Four Rivers Conference championship.

Trey Boyer and Matt Strong joined VanLeer as first team selections.

St. James had two players named to the first team. Seniors Bailey Terrill and Ryan Harlan garnered the honors. Union’s Trevor Kelly also received first team honors.

St. James led the second team with two selections in Ivan Fuhring and Tyler Recker. Hermann’s Trent Anderson, Union’s Jacob Towell, St. Clair’s Jayce Decker, New Haven’s John Fleer and Owensville’s Sean Irwin were the other selections.
