Lutheran South Defeats Sullivan

Sullivan endured their toughest loss of the season on Tuesday when they were wiped out by Lutheran South, 14-2.

The Lancers scored nine runs during a lengthy second inning. 

Sullivan (13-7) turned their attention to Friday’s district tournament opener against Pacific.

Jacob Miller had two hits and scored a run, while Austin Frye and Cody McKinney each had RBIs.

Frye singled and scored. McKinney doubled and walked.

Will Allen and Blayten Nolie singled.

Lutheran South scored two runs in the first, with Richie Minda hitting a leadoff triple and scoring on Jacob Hager’s single. Brendan Kuhlmann struck a one-out double and scored on Vito Orlando’s groundout to second.

The Lancers sent 13 batters to the plate in the second. JD McReynolds relieved Logan McCummiskey with one out and Lutheran South up 4-0. They would go on to score seven more runs and leave the Eagles trailing 11-0. 

In the top of the third, Sullivan scored two runs with two outs. Frye reached on an infield single and McKinney doubled to right.

The Lancers added three more runs in the home half of the inning.
