Lady Eagles Win North County Tournament

Sullivan won their first regular season tournament championship since 2013 on Sept. 9 when they went 4-0-2 at the North County Tournament.

The Lady Eagles opened the day with a tie against Park Hills Central, a win over Pattonville, a tie against North County, then three straight victories against Windsor, Fredericktown and Festus in the championship match.

Central

Sullivan dropped the first set 25-18, but forced a tie by winning 25-19 in the second. Katie Creek had five points and six kills. Avery Carey, Lauren Hoffman, Riley Lock and Mallory Shetley each had three points.

Alex Blankenship had five kills. Shetley had four, while Hoffman and Lock each had two. Hoffman led the team with 14 assists.

Pattonville

The Lady Eagles pulled one off by the narrowest of margins, taking down the Lady Pirates 25-21 in the first set and 27-26 in the second.

Creek again shined as she picked up 13 points, five aces and seven kills. Shetley also chipped in seven kills.

North County

North County forced a tie by winning the second set. Sullivan again won another tight set — 25-23 — in the first, but the Raiders took the second, 20-25.

Hoffman had five points, two kills and 10 assists. Creek had four points and four kills. Blankenship had three points. Shetley had two aces, five kills and four blocks.

Windsor

After dropping the first set 19-25, Sullivan bounced back against Windsor with sets of 25-23 and 28-26.

The Lady Eagles totaled 32 points, 29 kills, nine blocks and 26 assists through the three sets.

Creek led the team with nine points and also had 10 kills. Shetley had five points, three aces, 10 kills and four blocks.

Carey had seven points. Hoffman had three points and 24 assists. Lock had three points, three kills and a block.

Fredericktown

Sullivan continued to roll against Fredericktown. The Lady Eagles won 25-19, 25-22.

Hoffman had five points, five kills and 14 assists. Creek had four points and six kills. Shetley had four points, two aces and four kills. Lock tallied four points, two kills and a block. Blankenship chipped in with three points, two aces and three kills.

Festus

The Lady Eagles needed two sets to dismiss Festus and earn the championship, 25-18, 25-21.

Shetley’s seven kills and season-high six blocks led the team. Creek had six points, two aces and five kills. Hoffman had five points, four kills and 13 assists.

Blankenship had five points. Lock had three points, an ace, a kill and a block. Carey had three points and an ace.
