Lady Eagles Shutout St. James

Sullivan scored five runs in the first inning Thursday at St. James and never looked back.

The Lady Eagles rolled off seven more runs in the next three innings, cashed in on seven St. James errors and maintained an unbeaten conference record with a 12-0 victory.

Sullivan (9-2) had 10 hits and Hanna Johanning shut the door on St. James with five scoreless innings. She struck out six, walked one and allowed three hits in her second start of the season.

Five straight baserunners reached safely to start the game. Kamryn Lohden had a two-run single to get the Lady Eagles going. Abbey Daniel drove in Lohden to put Sullivan ahead 3-0. 

With two outs, Kylee Thomure hit a ground ball to first that turned into an error, allowing two more runs to cross the plate.

Addison Purvis led off the second with a fly ball to center misplayed by St. James. Purvis was able to come around and score.

Payton Counts doubled home Madyson Stahl with one out in the third. Counts stole third and scored on a passed ball to give Sullivan an 8-0 lead. 

Sullivan scored on another error in center in the fourth. Two more runs came across on an error at the plate and Thomure’s infield single to short drove in Riley Diggs, making it 12-0.
