Lady Eagles Roll Past Warrenton

Sullivan asserted themselves Monday against Warrenton in a big way.

Fresh off a 17-point beatdown of Summit in the Marquette Tournament seventh-place game, Sullivan returned to the court and ran past the Warriors 58-29 in a non-conference game.

Mallory Shetley had 17 points and the Lady Eagles (3-2) filled it up from long distance, shooting 9-20 (45 percent). Katie Creek, Rylee Denbow, Hanna Johanning and Vittoria Polanowski all had two 3-pointers.

The Lady Eagles were able to spread the wealth against an overmatched Warriors team as nine players got in the scoring column. Polanowski added eight points, Riley Lock had seven and Creek, Johanning and Denbow finished with six. Kya Harbour and Porscha Polanowski had three. Zariah Richards scored two.

Sullivan assisted on 15 of 19 field goals.

“It was a good game,” said head coach Jordan Flora. “We shot the ball well and pushed it. It’s starting to click.”

The Lady Eagles outscored Warrenton 16-3 in the first quarter on their way to a 30-11 lead at the half. Warrenton fell further behind after three quarters, trailing 50-18.

“It is good to get going and it helped playing in a tough tournament,” said Flora, who believes his team is progressing. “It’s just a one or two minute stretch where we fall apart.”

Players are starting to understand their roles better and “the offense is running more smooth,” he said.
