Lady Eagles Receive Third Seed In Marquette Tourney

Sullivan opened the 2019 Marquette Tournament on Monday as the third seed and in the kelly pool with Ft. Zumwalt West and Francis Howell.

Host Marquette received the top seed, while Ft. Zumwalt West is the second seed.

Nerinx Hall follows Sullivan as the fourth seed. Lafayette is the fifth seed and Francis Howell the sixth seed.

Marquette, Nerinx Hall and Lafayette are in the navy pool.

The Lady Eagles faced Ft. Zumwalt West on Monday and they played again Tuesday against Francis Howell.

The finals are scheduled for Friday, beginning at 4:30 p.m. with consolation. Third place follows at 6 p.m. and the championship game is at 7:30 p.m.

Ft. Zumwalt West was a 60-55 winner against Ft. Zumwalt South on November 26. The Jaguars went 12-15 last season. 

They return seniors Brooklyn Palmer and Lillie Pickett. Palmer is listed as a 6-1 forward and she averaged 12 points and eight rebounds per game as a junior.

Pickett is a 5-11 guard. She averaged 10 points last season.

Sophomore Cheing-Hai Christen scored 15 points in the Jaguars’ victory against Zumwalt South.

Francis Howell is coming off a 15-13 campaign last season and the Vikings were ripped by Jefferson City 56-22 on November 26. They graduated their top three scorers.

Top-seeded Marquette features junior forward Kennedi Watkins, who averaged 16 points and seven rebounds per game last year. Autumn Brown is a 5-11 senior guard that scored 12 points per game. Ally Fitzgerald is a 6-1 center who averaged seven points and six rebounds as a freshman.
