Lady Eagles Hit 3 Homers Against St. James
Sullivan got home runs from Morgan Bobbitt, Abbey Daniel and Hannah Cox, Addison Purvis struck out 10 and threw four no-hit innings and Sullivan coasted to a 17-0 win over St. James on Tuesday at Bank of Sullivan Ballpark.
After Tuesday’s home run derby, the Lady Eagles (11-2) have hit 10 home runs this season. Bobbitt and Cox socked their second homers and for Daniel, it was her first.
Bobbitt and Daniel went back-to-back in the third inning, part of an 11-run frame.
Sullivan ran their record to 3-0 in the Four Rivers Conference and have outscored opponents 38-1.
The Lady Eagles totaled 12 hits, two each from Cox, Kamryn Lohden and Emma Weirich.
Cox was 2-3 with five RBIs. Her three-run homer in the fourth inning provided the runs necessary to end the game via mercy rule. Cox also doubled.
Lohden was 2-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Both of her hits were doubles. Weirich was 2-3 with two runs scored.
Kloey Blanton singled, drove in a run and scored three times. Purvis doubled and walked. Hanna Johanning singled, walked twice and scored three runs. Bobbitt added a walk. Madison Decker singled.
Sullivan scored three runs in the first. Blanton led off with a double and scored on an error on a ball put in play by Cox. Lohden smacked a two-out double that scored Johanning for a 2-0 lead. Lohden came in to score on an error with Bobbitt batting.
Purvis hit a double to start the third. Reagan Thomure was sent in as a courtesy runner. She scored on a double by Cox. Cox would cross the plate on a sacrifice fly by Lohden, then Bobbitt launched a two-run homer for a 7-0 lead.
Daniel sent a 2-0 pitch over the fence in right one batter. Decker kept the inning moving with a single to right. Kylee Thomure was sent in to courtesy run. She stole second and went to third on a bunt single by Weirich.
Kylee Thomure and Weirich each scored on errors. Cox’s sacrifice fly to right drove in Reagan Thomure. She scored on a double by Johanning for a 12-0 lead. Lohden followed up with a double to left. Bobbitt was hit by a pitch and with Daniel batting, Lohden scored on an error. Sullivan led 14-0.
Cox ended the game with two outs in the fourth. Weirich reached on a bunt single, Blanton reached on an error and after Purvis popped out, Cox lofted the second pitch she saw over the fence for a 17-0 lead and the win.
