Lady Eagles Go 1-2 At Lutheran St. Charles Tourney
Sullivan’s season got off to a strong start Tuesday at the Lutheran St. Charles Tournament.
Facing Lutheran North, Sullivan blasted Lutheran North 5-0. The next night, Sullivan went down to the wire against Lutheran St. Charles, only to come up short 2-1.
Taking on a strong Hazelwood Central team Thursday, the Lady Eagles were blanked 4-0.
Lutheran North
Five players scored five goals for Sullivan in the team’s rout of Lutheran North.
Payton Dudley, MaKenzie Martin, Sierra Pitman, Kylee Thomure and Hannah Wiegers all had goals, while Thomure, Payton Counts and Makenzie Jones assisted.
Sullivan scored three times in the first half.
Lauren Hoffman recorded the shutout for Sullivan.
Lutheran St. Charles
Izzy Rubio’s game-winning completed a rally for Lutheran St. Charles and lifted the Cougars to a 2-1 win.
Sullivan led 1-0 at halftime on a goal from Pitman, assisted by Caitlin Pohlman.
Brynne Sandfort tied the game and Rubio broke the tie with help of Sandfort. Hoffman faced 10 shots from the Cougars and stopped eight.
Hazelwood Central
The Hawks, who had played Lutheran St. Charles to a 1-1 tie two nights earlier, scored three goals in the second half to roll Sullivan 4-0.
Jada Harvey scored a pair of goals for Central, which took the tournament championship. Logan Pratte and Tori Bell added goals.
The Cougars had 13 shots on goal and Hoffman stopped nine.
