Lady Eagles End Regular Season With Win Against Owensville

Mallory Shetley scored 24 points and Kya Harbour had 13 on Tuesday as the senior duo led Sullivan to a 59-34 win against Owensville in the regular season finale.

Shetley added four blocks, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Harbour had five rebounds and five assists.

Sullivan torched the Dutchgirls from 3-point range, shooting 10-for-19.

Harbour and Rylee Denbow each had three. Hanna Johanning knocked down a pair and both Riley Lock and Shetley had one.

Johanning had six points, Lock three and Payton Dudley two.

Denbow collected six rebounds and blocked two shots, while Lock had three rebounds, five assists and two steals.

Sullivan limited Owensville to 30 percent shooting.

They erupted late in the first quarter when Harbour and Denbow had back-to-back 3-pointers to open up a 16-7 lead, forcing Owensville into a timeout.

Lock’s drive with 59 seconds left and Shetley’s basket a few ticks later gave the Lady Eagles an 18-9 lead.

The run continued into the second quarter as Denbow sank another 3-pointer. 

Kate Angell broke up a long drought by the Dutchgirls with a 3, but Sullivan ended the period on an 8-2 run. Denbow’s putback with 29 seconds remaining put Sullivan on top 29-14 at the half.

Johanning and Denbow each had 3’s to begin the third quarter. Shetley added a 3-pointer with 3:54, then led a fast-break to make it 40-16.

With six seconds left, she froze Leah Reed with a crossover and banked in a layup, putting the Lady Eagles ahead 42-23.

Sullivan left their starters on the floor for the start of the fourth quarter and Shetley continued to dominate. She laid a turnaround jumper off the glass, then scored inside to double up Owensville 46-23. She finished the flurry with a pair of free throws at the 6:08 mark.

Harbour and Johanning traded 3-pointers, with Harbour sinking two in the final stretch. Sullivan led 59-28 before pulling their regulars.
