Lady Eagles Bow Out In First Round

Sullivan sought an upset Monday in the first round of the Class 2 District 8 Tournament against Borgia, but the Lady Knights had three straight goals in the second half to pull away for a 6-1 victory.

The loss ended a difficult season for Sullivan. The Lady Eagles had a glimmer of hope late in the first half when Caitlin Pohlman booted a penalty kick past Abby Mueller.

Monday’s game had a brief weather delay as a line of storms crossed into the Owensville area. 

When the delay ended, Pohlman put the Lady Eagles on the board to cut Borgia’s lead to 3-1 with eight minutes left in the half.

Borgia scored early on a goal from Hannah Herbst, followed by goals from Cailey Foss and Kara Voss.

In the second half, Herbst added another goal.
