Johanning, Offense Shine Against Lutheran South

Thrust into a starter’s role, Hanna Johanning is making the most of it.

The junior stepped in Monday to carry the Lady Eagles over Lutheran South in an 11-0 win.

Johanning struck out six, walked two and scattered three hits across six innings.

The offense scored five runs in the sixth inning and Johanning held the Lancers off the board in the bottom half of the inning.

Sullivan launched three homers off Erin Acheson. Johanning, Grace Glaser and Kayla Ulrich took her deep.

Johanning also doubled twice. Kloey Blanton, Alyssa Sharp and Sophia Weirch added doubles.

Hannah Cox singled twice. Madyson Stahl singled and scored three times. Payton Counts singled and scored.

Sullivan jumped Acheson for five runs in the first. Johanning lined a two-run homer to left.

Cox and Blanton hit back-to-back singles and both scored on Weirich’s double to center.

Weirich came in when Sharp doubled.

Johanning came through with a two-out RBI double in the fourth, scoring Stahl.

Glaser led off the sixth with a homer, which was her second of the season.

Counts singled up the middle and scored on a two-base error off the bat of Stahl. Stahl ended up at third, then scored when Ulrich hit Sullivan’s second homer of the inning.

Johanning banged out her second double of the game and scored on Cox’s single to left.
