Johanning Grand Slam Leads Sullivan Over New Haven

Hanna Johanning’s second inning grand slam broke open the game Tuesday against New Haven and sent Sullivan to a 10-1 win.

Sullivan (12-4) collected 18 hits in the victory, which improved their Four Rivers Conference record to 5-0. 

Johanning also drew a start and after allowing a run in the first, ended with six scoreless innings. She struck out seven and walked three. 

New Haven got on the board in the first when Ryan Stutzman hit a two-out RBI single to right, scoring Meagan Holtmeyer. 

Sullivan got the run back in the bottom of the inning. Addison Purvis doubled to center and scored on a hit by Kamryn Lohden. 

Madyson Stahl had a two-out bunt single to extend the inning in the second and load the bases. Purvis drew a walk to score Grace Glaser and Johanning followed up with a grand slam to center, giving Sullivan a 6-1 lead.

Kloey Blanton drove in a pair of runs in the fourth inning on a single to center. Grace Glaser scored on a passed ball in the fifth and Abbey Daniel delivered Sullivan’s final run with an RBI single in the sixth, scoring Lohden.

Lohden and Purvis each finished with three hits. Purvis doubled twice and reached base four times. Johanning, Blanton, Daniel, Glaser and Stahl had a pair of hits.
