Johanning Bashes 2 Homers In Sullivan’s Rout Against Lutheran South

Hanna Johanning launched two home runs, doubled and had five RBIs on Monday as part of a 12-1 rout against Lutheran South.

Johanning smashed a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth. She sent the Lady Eagles to an early victory with her two-run shot in the fifth that gave Sullivan a 10-run lead.

Johanning also doubled, which set up Sullivan’s first run.

The Lady Eagles (16-7) strung together 12 hits, six for extra base hits.

Alexis Funkhouser, Kayla Ulrich and Sophia Weirich all had doubles.

Ulrich drove in three runs. 

Weirich had two hits to go with an RBI.

Funkhouser scored twice.

Madyson Stahl singled and scored twice.

Riley Branson picked up two bunt singles, scored twice and had an RBI.

Alyssa Sharp singled and scored.

Alexis Johnson scored once.

Blankenship had a single and RBI. She also received the start, scattering five hits against the Lancers. She didn’t allow an earned run and struck out six against zero walks.

Lutheran South plated the game’s first run on an error with two outs in the first inning.

Johanning tagged a two-out double in the home half of the inning and scored on Weirich’s single to center, tying the game at 1-1.

Branson drove in Alexis Johnson with a bunt single in the second inning, giving Sullivan a 2-1 lead. Ulrich crushed a two-run double to push the advantage to 4-1.

Johanning unloaded a three-run homer with two outs in the third to give Sullivan a 7-1 lead.

Weirich continued the barrage with a double. Grace Halmick came in as her runner and scored when Blankenship stroked a single. Sullivan went on top 8-1.

The Lady Eagles added a run on Ulrich’s RBI groundout, which scored Funkhouser. With two outs, Stahl extended the inning by reaching on an error at second. Branson scored to put Sullivan ahead 10-1. 

Two pitches later, Johanning deposited the game-winning homer over the fence in center.
