Howell Central Downs Eagles In Opening Round

Francis Howell Central went off in the second quarter on Monday and rolled to a 68-49 win against Sullivan.

The two teams were meeting in the first round of the Washington Tournament.

Sullivan earned the third seed, but couldn’t keep up with the Spartans.

Howell Central shot a blistering 59 percent from the field and was 6-for-11 on 3-point attempts.

Jonathon Gardner scored 18 points to lead the Spartans. 

Central held a slim 12-11 lead over the Eagles after one period. Following an offensive outburst, they went up 30-23 at the half.

The deficit only grew for the Eagles as the third period got underway. They were outscored 20-12.

Sullivan was led by Dillon Farrell, who scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds.

Jordan Woodcock added 11 points and was 3-for-7 on 3-point attempts.

Owen Farrell scored 10 points. Dallas Blankenship and Kolton Keen each scored six. Austin Orick had three and Josh Wiese had one.

Sullivan played the Blue Knights in consolation action on Wednesday.
