Hoffman Scores 22, Leads Sullivan Past Duchesne

Landon Hoffman scored 22 points, Sullivan’s defense bottled up a tall Duchesne lineup and the Eagles prevailed 46-35 on Tuesday in St. Charles.

Sullivan (4-1) held the Pioneers to just 11 points in the first half.

Eagles head coach Dino McKinney was pleased with the way Sullivan handled a bigger lineup.

“They’re huge,” McKinney said. “They didn’t have a kid under 6 feet starting. We did a really good job against them and Landon Hoffman had a great night.”

Hoffman had 22 points, which included four 3-pointers and 6-10 shooting from the field. He added five rebounds and a steal.

Cody McKinney scored 12 points, grabbed six rebounds, three assists and was 2-4 beyond the arc. Hoffman and McKinney combined to go 12-14 at the free throw line.

Austin Frye scored six points, Carter Adams had four and Austin Lewis added two.

Duchesne had just 13 baskets from the field and only got to the free throw line for 10 shots.

“Defensively, we did a great job,” McKinney said.

Sullivan came out strong, building a 13-6 lead after one quarter. They took a 22-11 lead into halftime.

Duchesne outscored the Eagles 15-12 in the third, but the Eagles stayed ahead and closed out the game 12-9.
