Four Lady Eagles Named FRC Soccer

The season didn’t end like they wanted, but Sullivan had four players named to the Four Rivers all-conference soccer team.

Forward Emma Randolph and defender Bria Jones had first-team honors. Forward Kate Randolph and midfielder Jenna Lochner received second team honors.

A year removed from season-ending surgery, Emma Randolph was a force on the offensive end. She led the Lady Eagles with 23 goals and added three assists. As the team went on a 6-0 run during the middle of the season, Emma delivered the bulk of the offense, scoring 17 goals.

Jones went from being a two-time state qualifier in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes in track her freshman and sophomore seasons to one of the conference’s best defenders. Jones used her speed to hold off offenses. She led a defensive unit that allowed just 142 shots on goal this season, down from 303 in 2016. On the offensive end, she had one goal and two assists.

Like her contributions on the basketball court, Lochner’s offense was titled towards supporting her cast. She was arguably the conference’s best point guard her senior season and averaged more than six assists per game. Lochner didn’t receive all-conference honors, which rankled former head coach Jason Merkel.

FRC soccer coaches were more tuned in. Lochner returned to the soccer field for the first time since her freshman season and had five goals with a team-high 12 assists. Five of her assists came in conference games.

Kate Randolph had a big scoring season as a junior in 2016, scoring 17 goals. She emerged as the team’s leading scorer with sister Emma sidelined and was the team’s only all-conference selection. She had eight goals and two assists this season.

All-District

Jones and junior goalkeeper Lauren Hoffman were named to the all-district team. Hoffman was 10-8 this season with just 24 goals allowed. She also had six shutouts.
