Five Eagles Win First At Rebels Invitational

Sullivan kicked off the second half of the season Saturday with a third-place finish at the 19th annual Central Rebels Invitational. 

Five Eagles won first place in their respective weight classes — Dillon Witt (106), Ian Kilburn (152), Isaac Peregoy (160), Evan Shetley (182) and Tristan Brown (285).

Luke Landwehr (195) took fourth. Ty Shetley (126) finished sixth. Joey Lewis (120), Ethan Hines (132) and Trey Eplin (170) were seventh.

“We use this tournament as a starter for the second half of the season,” said Eagles head coach Matt Peregoy. “There has always been quality competition in Park Hills and this year was no different.”

Witt pinned Austin Neff from Festus; had a technical fall against Nathan Phelps from Cape Central; pinned Trey Scott from Sikeston; pinned Dillon French from Festus and then Cody White from North County. Witt improved to 24-2.

Kilburn swept his way to the finals with pins against Kennett’s William Canter, North County’s Austin DeClue, Cape Central’s Cameren Walley and Central’s William Mayberry. He won a tiebreaker against Potosi’s Austin Harris in the final. Kilburn is now 20-4.

Peregoy pinned Jalin Rodgers from Festus, Levi Courtney from Potosi, Sean Blanchfield from Sikeston and Clayton McDonald from Central. He had a 7-2 decision against Luke Shaver from Festus. Peregoy’s record is now 22-4.

Evan Shetley pinned Notre Dame’s Rajan Marasini, Notre Dame’s Dylan Bomar, Hancock’s Benjamin Dixon, Sikeston’s Brian Jasper and finished the day against Central’s Joshua Whaley. Shetley is now 25-1.

Brown had a first round bye, then pinned Kennett’s Emmett Alston and Potosi’s Luis Ortiz. He had a tiebreaker New Madrid County’s Jay Maltbia. Brown won by decision against Sikeston’s David Rowland 7-5. Brown’s record stands at 19-2.

Landwehr won his first three matches with pins against Austin Carver from North County and Milan Pavlovic from Hancock. He had a bye in the next round. He fell to Cape Central’s Josh Pullen, then lost in the third place match to Potosi’s Kalub Evans.

Lewis won a 7-0 decision against Potosi’s Austyn Edmiston. 

Ty Shetley pinned Braden Kellog from Festus and Jacob Wilcox of New Madrid County.

Hines won a 9-4 decision against Potosi’s Jordan Shaw and pinned Central’s Colton Bess.

Eplin lost in the first round, but won by sudden victory against New Madrid County’s Jacob Wicker. He pinned Notre Dame’s Alex Diebold. Against Potosi’s Troy Harris, he won a 6-0 decision. He pinned Kennett’s Lorenzo Thomas.
